Let's talk about Ray Rice so we won't have to talk about #Ferguson anymore

Tweet of the Week

To Serve and Protect or Occupy and Oppress?
Since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, there has been a steady militarization of police forces in many of America’s cities. This has become increasingly obvious when the subject of dealing with public protests has arisen. Whether in dealings with Occupy protesters a few years ago, or with the unrest caused recently by the killing of Michael Brown (an unarmed teenager) by police in Ferguson, Missouri, many question the use of some of the brutal tactics and military style weapons used by police across the nation. There often seems to be a difference in opinion between police and protesters (particularly when they are dealing with mainly unarmed, peaceful demonstrators who feel they are simply exercising their civil rights to peaceably assemble and speak their minds freely as is written in the Constitution and Bill of Rights), as to what is the appropriate way in which each should act.

Did anyone in those groups stand on the roofs with guns or throw homemade bombs at police?

"Women, babies, children screaming, yelling—and those smoke bombs were in these babies’ faces trying to flee from the smoke,” said Paulette Wilkes, a mother of two sons and a St. Louis school teacher, of on the outbreak the night before the National Guard arrived. Protestors said a midnight curfew was revoked after tension between officers and protestors escalated. There wasn’t violence but young people were upset, said Ms. Wilkes. Did Wilkes object when people in the crowd threw home made bombs at police? Did she think it was wrong? Did she object when people looted clothes, shoes, tires etc.!?

Let's talk about alleged home made bombs and looters to justify WMD being used by police on peaceful protestors.

What WMD were used in Ferguson? Tear gas? Yes, tear gas is a chemical weapon, but it is not a WMD.

Also not sure which of the four images the tweet reference are suppose to be examples of illegal protests.

In regards to the Bundy ranch confrontation, were you against restricting protesters to two "first amendment" zones and restricting media to a third zone? We're you against the militarization of the bureau of land management? (Why does the blm need a seat team?)

Ferguson Policetear gassed taxpayers with tear gas purchased by taxpayers. Ain't that a dip?

How many are actual tax payers? There were many there who missed a lot of work. Also when all those shoes stores were broke in to no work boots were stolen!

Yes, and the Police Cruiser they pull speeding taxpayers over with is purchased by taxpayers. As are the jails that house law-breaking taxpayers. And the guns and bullets and their salaries. Even if the officer bought it himself, his salary comes from taxpayers so it could be said that it was purchased by taxpayers.

Defense, Welfare, Obamacare, everything the government spends money on is payed for by taxpayers.

The Ferguson Police treated peaceful protestors like looters and rioters, and looters and rioters like peaceful protestors.
