"An honest misunderstanding of what the protesters were chanting" My Donkey

Comic by Rob Rogers/ Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

WATCH.  Listen. Learn.
The chant went "we won't stop, we can't stop, 'til killer cops, are in cell blocks," according to C-SPAN footage.
But WBFF cut the audio short and told viewers that the words were in fact "we won't stop, we can't stop, so kill a cop."
The station apologized both on its Facebook page and in an interview with one of the protestors leading the chant, Tawanda Jones.
It ought to be against the law to use the public airways to mislead and misinform the public.

If it was against the law to misled and misinform, then the majority to television media would be behind bars. To slander Fox News, you have to go to a FOX affiliate to do it. But MSNBC has the same and far worse.

NBC defends MSNBC saying MSNBC is like an editorial page in an otherwise normal newspaper. And that is probably an apt description of all of "News" channels.

1) A video of Al Sharpton's show doing the same deceptive editing to a Bill O'Reilly quote as the FOX affiliate did to the protestors, but there was no apology by Sharpton for his show's deception...

http://www.mrctv.org/videos/bill-oreilly-catches-sharpton-another-deceptive-video-edit-they-dont-come-lower

2) Andrea Mitchell's show edited a clip to create a Mitt Romney "gaffe" and then lied to CYA.

3) MSNBC has edited video to make it look like a parent of a six-year old killed in the Sandy Hook massacre was "heckled"...

http://www.breitbart.com/big-journalism/2013/01/29/media-lies-about-sandy-hook-victim-being-heckled/

4) MSNBC (Ed Schultz) edited a clip of Rick Perry talking about the national debt to make it look like Rick Perry was calling President Obama a big black cloud...

5) NBC (Today) edited the George Zimmerman 911 tape to make George Zimmerman look racist...

You are comparing apples to onions in an obvious attempt to justify Fox News obvious attempt to mislead the public. Two wrongs don't make a right. Pun intended. The topic of this post is Fox News and Fox News only. If you want to write about other news organizations do it on your own blog.

In the 2007 coverage of the 2008 presidential elections, FOX News coverage of Democrat Presidential Candidates were 51% positive and 49% negative while their coverage of Republican candidates were 49% positive and 51% negative. ABC, NBC, and CBS's coverage was 47% positive and 53% negative for Democrat candidates and 40% positive and 60% negative for Republican candidates.

http://web.archive.org/web/20130405140257/http://www.cmpa.com/releases/07_12_21_Election_Study.pdf

A 2013 Pew Study found that MSNBC was the most opinionated with 85% of their programming being commentary/opinion verses 15% factual reporting. Fox News had a 55% commentary/opinion versus 45% factual reporting. CNN had a 46% commentary/opinion versus 54% factual reporting in the study.

And yet Fox is willing to open up how they do things and let the public decide who is fair and balanced.

If they will put out 100 percent of their editorial directions and internal memos, FOX News Channel will publish 100 percent of our editorial directions and internal memos, and let the public decide who is fair. This includes any legitimate cable news network, broadcast network, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The Washington Post.

Problem with that statement is that Fox News did not try to mislead the public, a Fox affiliate's news department tried to mislead the public.

Does Fox own WBFF? Nope, the station is owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group. Fox News isn't at fault here, a Fox affiliate is.

Difference without a distinction. Fox News , Fox Newss affiliate. *shrug*

How is it a difference without a distinction? Does what and how WAAY report on reflect ABC News? Does what and how WHNT report on reflect CBS News? Does what and how WAFF report on reflect NBC News?

WBFF is a local news department. Their reporters were hired by WBFF/Sinclair, not Fox News. Their stories were picked by WBFF/Sinclair, not Fox News.

DEFINITION of 'Affiliate' A type of inter-company relationship in which one of the companies owns less than a majority of the other company's stock, or a type of inter-company relationship in which at least two different companies are subsidiaries of a larger company.
