EYE am trying to figure out how this "Make America White Again" thingy is supposed to work....

So, an independent (code for republiKlan) candidate for congress from Tennessee is vowing to "Make America White Again" if he's elected.  First of all, America was never all White, so EYE don't know where the again is coming from, unless he's talking about when the illegal Pilgrims illegally invaded America and stole the land from the original occupants, who were so not White.  But EYE digress.

If Trump and his followers are elected, how do they plan to make America White Again?  EYE mean, are they going to round up all the people of color and ship them back to Africa?  Or, are they going bring back slavery and force them to live on plantations and work for free?  If people of color are allowed to stay in America will they still have to pay taxes, or, will the government take care of them? 

Do they really think people of color are going to go willing, or are they planning to use military force? Which might be difficult, considering the number of active duty minorities currently serving in the military.

EYE am really trying to figure out what the Make America White Again plan is so EYE can be ready.

Why Mama Sally Can't Vote

This is a true voter suppression story, the names have been changed to protect the innocent~RedEye

God willing, one of my dearest friends maternal grandmother will turn 100 years old on October 23, 2012, which means she was born on October 23, 1912.  Keep these dates in mind as the story continues.

Mama Sally (not her real name) had to move to from Tennessee, the state of her birth and where she spent all of her life, to the state of Mississippi where she will spend the remainder of her time on earth with her loving grand daughter and her family.

Mama Sally has a social security number, receives medicare and owns property in Tennessee.  She stopped driving at age 60, so she hasn't had a drivers license in 40 years.  Still, as she says, in her right mind, she's voted in every election since the Voting Rights Act was enacted in 1965.

Mama Sally won't be allowed to vote in Mississippi because the state of Tennessee doesn't have a record of her birth, and voters are required to produce a certified copy of their birth certificate in order to obtain a Voter ID card.

Mama Sally's vote is being suppressed.  And for those who say instead of whining about Mama Sally's plight help her obtain an ID card, I ask how the heck are we supposed to help her get a birth certificate that doesn't exist?

Occupy Oakland meet Occupy Nashville

While everyone was focused on the police brutality directed to the Occupy Movement protesters in Oakland, California the same stuff was happening right in our back yard in Nashville, Tennessee. Here is a run down thanks to the Tennessee Progressive Blogging Community.

From the Civil Rights Museum to arresting Occupy Nashville Folks in One Week.

Last night, a working member of the press was arrested covering the mass arrests at Occupy Nashville. I like to call this a "PR nightmare" which should be Gov. Bill Haslam and Bill Gibbons safe word right now.

Yet that's what happened in the early morning hours, as Metro Night Court Judge Tom Nelson told the troopers who arrested 25 peaceful Occupy Nashville protesters at midnight on Legislative Plaza — along with Scene reporter Jonathan Meador, who was attempting to get off the plaza when he was cuffed and hauled off — that the curfew being enforced at the Capitol had no constitutional grounds whatsoever.

I find it to be amusing in a not so funny way our governor was in Memphis this week visiting the Civil Rights Museum.

A few things I've noticed is that political persuasion doesn't mean beans right now when it come to the public outcry from Tennesseans. One thing that cannot be controlled is passion. I say it entirely too much but to quote Maya Angelou, it's not what you say or what you do, it's how you make people feel.

wo of the 26 Occupy Nashville protesters arrested early this morning were injured, says Karl Bolton of Franklin, who says he is part of the movement's legal team. One man, a veteran, was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown. A woman also received minor injuries, and her camera was broken.

Occupy Nashville: Cops Arrest Nashville Scene Reporter Along With 26 Protesters

For the second night in a row, eager beaver cops swarmed down on the peaceful Occupy Nashville protesters at the People's Plaza, this time 26 arrests were made. In case anyone was wondering what the hell there is to protest about, the not so great state of Tennessee is busily making the protesters case by perpetrating serious constitutional violations against its citizens.

According to the repressive state of Tennessee, not only do we not have the right to peaceful assembly, we don't even have the First Amendment right to a free press at that peaceful assembly. The first arrests were carefully staged at 3am to avoid press coverage and now in what appears to be an effort to intimidate the press, a reporter has been arrested for the crime of covering the police state tactics of bully Governor Bill Haslam

Occupy Nashville Protesters released jail, Protesters reclaim People's Plaza

I made a trip to the Magic Mile yesterday

What and where is the Magic Mile you ask? Well, it's a strip of establishments that sell lottery tickets and scratch offs about 20 miles from the Alabama state line.

Yep, me and thousands of Alabamians trekked on over the state line and spent our own damn money in Tennessee buying Mega Millions lottery tickets, helping the Tennessee Education system and putting money in their coffers. Not only did I purchase lottery tickets, but also gas, food and did a some tax free shopping, thanks to the good old Christian (cough), Compassionate (cough), Conservatives (cough) Alabama anti gambling bots.

I purchased lottery tickets two at a time from five different vendors. The parking lot had more Alabama license plates than any other state including Tennessee. Those who argue against the lottery say it's a tax on poor blacks, which is a back door way of saying they are not only black and poor, but they are stupid too, and will spend their welfare checks gambling instead of paying their bills.

Well you know what? I didn't see one identifiably poor black person at any of my stops. As a matter of fact there were more white people driving nice cars and trucks buying lottery tickets than black people. I laughed out loud when I saw the McCain/Palin Stickers and the Confederate Flag license plates on some of the automobiles.

I wasn't one of the two lucky winners of the $350 Mega Million jackpot, but if you don't play you sure can't win. I dream of the day when I can gamble with my own damn money in my own damn state.
