It's the Media, they think we are Stupid. Monday Edition

With all the media "outrage" over a blotched website, I'm wondering where is the media outrage for the millions of people being denied Medicaid in the Red Republican Confederate Slave States of America?  I guess it's easier to help the republicans de-fund, delay, and repeal the Affordable Health Care Act by people who have access to quality, affordable, health care than it is to focus on  people who finally have access to quality, affordable health care.

We certainly can't look to the Democratic Party to exhibit any political courage. Nope, Democrats (and I use that term loosely) care more about keeping their jobs than doing their jobs. But here's the rub, republicans have figured out that hating Obama Care is not the way to win elections.

The Legal Lynching of The Legal Schnauzer will not be Televised.  What do you want to bet if this were a right wing, conservative blogger, who wrote about President Obama being a Kenyan born Muslim Socialist Interloper there would be wall to wall, 24/7 poutrage?
This is Carol, Roger's wife. On Friday, we provided a brief update on the Nov. 14 hearing on "permanent injunctions" in the Legal Schnauzer first amendment case. And not surprisingly, it was indeed a kangaroo court, though possibly even worse than we had anticipated. We reported that Shelby County Courthouse officials turned away the majority of the people who attempted to appear at the mysterious and strange proceedings by claiming it was closed to the public. However, some supporters were able to gain access to the previously undisclosed location.
Here we go again....... the white, male, dominated, mainstream, media trying to justify the use of the N word by white people.  Attention White People.....go see the movie 12 Years a Slave for a clear understanding of why YOU CAN NOT USE THE N WORD EVER.
“White America don’t get to dictate how me and (Shaquille O’Neal) talk to each other and they have been trying to infiltrate themselves saying, ‘Well you guys use it, it’s in rap music.’ No, that’s not the same,” Barkley said. “As I tell my white friends who I love like brothers … they’ve asked me, When is it appropriate? I say well when you use it around the wrong brother the next thing you’re going to hear is the clock side to your d**n head. That’s when it’s inappropriate.”
We The People can't win for the media.

The Red, Republican, Confederate, Slave States have way too much power

Slave states vs. free states, 2012
Slave States vs Free States 2012
Hello this is Hank Sanders, Alabama state Senator, and I’m still mad as hell. I say hell no! I ain’t going back to the cotton fields of Jim Crow days. I’m going forward with Ron Sparks, Jim Folsom and others who would do right by all of us. I hope you are mad as hell and will not go back, and you have the power to choose. I will stand until hell freezes over for Ron Sparks for Governor and Jim Folsom for Lt. Governor on November the 2nd.
Paid for by Alabama New South.

Remember how he was called a racist/race baiter among other things?

Some even went as far as to blame  democrats for their demise.

I said then , and I say now, if white democrats had focused on WHAT Senator Sanders said, instead of WHO said it, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Thanks to the TeaPublican Congress and the red, republican, Confederate, Slave states,  voter ID laws could disenfranchise thousands of voters in 2012.   These are the states who went to war to keep black folks enslaved.  These are the states who enacted Jim Crow laws.  These are the states rights states.

African Americans recognize the code words, and the consequences of history repeating itself despite the denials, myths,  and misinformation  disseminated by the gop infused, media enabled, Tea Party, and some (not to be confused with all) white democrats sticking their heads in the sand.

Today's Must Read for White People Only

NOTE TO MINORITY READERS:This posting is FOR WHITES ONLY. Nothing personal but there's a conversation to be had here and it doesn't concern you. If you're African American or Hispanic or Asian or Arab - SCRAM! Gail Collins wrote a particularly witty piece in today's New York Times about a town in North Dakota where the unemployment rate is at one percent. Go read that. You'll all be welcome back with open arms when I write my next piece. Now SCAT, ya hear?

"Well there is a certain mean spirtness  that's out there, not only in Alabama, but in America, and that's what makes this election so important"~ State Senator Hank Sanders in response to CNN's Anderson Cooper asking him what evidence he had republicans would take Alabama back to Jim Crow Days.

It's Time for Dale Jackson to Put Up or Shut Up

I pledge to use my time and my money to help anyone who wants and ID and doesn't have one to get one.~Dale Jackson July 13,2012

I will not quit.  I will continue to fight to get people the ID they need to vote because this is the most important issue of our time.~Dale Jackson July 13, 2012

Graphic by  mooncat @LeftinAlabama
In an obvious attempt to gain publicity for himself, and mock voters who will be negatively impacted by the new Voter ID laws being passed by red, republican, controlled legislators and governors in key swing states, including Sweet Home Alabama, WVNN radio talk show host Dale Jackson challenged liberals to stop whining about the Voter ID laws and do something about it. by offering to single-handedly (sic) solve this problem by not only picking up "the poor", taking them to the appropriate agency, paying for their ID and buying them a sandwich..

There was only one problem, Dale needed help identifying the poor and destitute who couldn't obtain an ID, so he enlisted the help of the Alabama Democratic Party, The Alabama Federation of Democratic Women, Limestone County Democrats, and the Madison County Democrats via Facebook.

Refusing to give up Dale even suckered LiA blogger and commentor Dragontide into posting his appeal for help on the font page of Left in Alabama promising to ask Congress Critter Mo Brooks (r), and Alabama Senators Richard Shelby(r) and Jeff Sessions(r) about a nationwide federal program to issue ID's, which Dale reneged on.

Well Dale, you don't have to beg for help identifying the poor, destitute people you claim you are trying to help because the Brennan Center for Justice has done the work for you in a report that list the number of Alabamians who need to be picked up, taken to the appropriate agency so you can to buy them a voter ID card.

Psst Dale!  Get out your checkbook and write a check for the total cost of the ID card, transportation, and a sandwich  for the number of people in the Tennessee Valley listening area, identified for you in the report, and send it the Brennan Center for Justice so they can help you win the fight to get people the ID they need to vote because this is the most important fight of our time.

32.7%, or 1,137,724, voting age Alabama citizens live more than 10 miles from the nearest state ID-issuing office which is open more than 2 days a week

6.1% of voting age Alabama citizens (213,386) have no vehicle access.

26.8% of those voting age Alabama citizens with no vehicle access (57,285) also live 10 miles or more from the nearest state ID-issuing office that's open more than 2 days a week

WTF moved my polling place, when, and why????!!!!!

I showed up at what I thought was my polling place early this morning to find out my name wasn't on the roll.  Say what?  Something told me to bring the voter registration card I received in the mail a couple of weeks ago just in case there was some mess.  Upon checking the card, I discovered my polling place was changed from one church, to another church.  I guess that's why I received a new voter registration card in the mail a couple of weeks ago. Snark.

Isn't it strange that after Bush v Gore there wasn't a push to pass reform the election system, but after the election of President Barack Obama republicans rush  pass preemptive voter fraud laws to block the vote?

I sure do miss the good old day's when we had fair and free elections in America too.

Mo Brooks calls democrats "abherrant" and over 300 Madison County Republican Men Cheer!

Read all about it. H/T Reactionary
Congressman Mo Brooks received a standing ovation from more than 300 people at the Madison County Republican Men’s Club breakfast this morning.

Congressman Brooks spoke about the “Obama Kill Jobs Bill” and the futility of trying to compromise with people who have an “aberrant ideology”. Mo may have said “abhorrent” – either adjective is correct when describing the left…

The futility of trying to compromise with people who have an abhorrent ideology??? Po Mo must have the the democratic party confused with the republican party.
"I mean has anybody been watching the debates lately?" Obama said. "You've got a governor whose state is on fire denying climate change. "It's true. You've got audiences cheering at the prospect of somebody dying because they don't have healthcare. And booing a service member in Iraq because they're gay."

And Mo calls democrats abhorrent? I wonder how many of those cheering republican men work for the Government or are Government Contractors?

Mo said what?
Congressman Brooks contrasted the 4.5% national unemployment rate in November 2006, before Democrats took the House (Nancy Pelosi) and Senate (Harry Reid), with the 9.8% unemployment rate in November 2010, saying that the “philosophy of government changed radically”. Brooks blamed “Obamacare, class warfare, and extreme environmental regulations” for the “seven million jobs lost” under Democrat rule.

Brooks said “three straight years of trillion dollar deficits… risk government insolvency”. Brooks favors cutting “consumptive, not productive” programs, such as “unearned wealth transfer programs”. Brooks pledged to “do everything I can to protect national defense”.

Brooks noted that the “Obama Kill Jobs Bill” includes “tax increases on oil companies”, which would result in “domestic oil jobs lost” and “raise gas prices”. Brooks said that the “Obama Kill Jobs Bill” would “add to the national debt”, ”increase lawsuits” (due to unemployment status), and “create two government agencies”
.

So, according to Mo, it's those abhorrent democrats fault his pals Bush and Dick borrowed money from China to spend on all war all the time. I guess It's also democrats fault Bush and Dick raided the surplus to give their rich cronies a tax break.

Brooks favors cutting “consumptive, not productive” programs, such as “unearned wealth transfer programs”.

Translation- tax the poor, raise taxes on the middle class, cut taxes for the rich.

Brooks pledged to “do everything I can to protect national defense”.

Translation-Money for bombs, but not one dime for books, health care, Social Security and Medicare.

“Free enterprise versus Socialism”.

Translation-The rich get richer while the rest get the shaft.

And Mo says democrats are abhorrent?

Yay Mo.

Still trying to get over the shock and shame

H/T Jerry Brice

Just when I think our Congress Cowards can't sink any lower they drag Congress woman Gabby Giffords from her sick bed to vote for the sugar coated, Satan Sandwich. But Gifford wasn't the only victim that day. They couldn't drag the little girl in the picture to the vote.

Isn't it ironic Giffords voted FOR a deal brokered by the same people whose rhetoric is responsible for her present condition? Isn't it ironic these same people win again? This is not Change we can believe in. This is more of the same old stuff.

Listen to Athenae
I feel about this the way I feel about people who keep grizzly bears and gorillas and tigers as pets. They keep animals that outweigh them as pampered house guests, feeding them raw salmon and steak and putting cute little collars on them and shit, and then are ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED when their "best friends" get bored one day and eat their faces.

I mean, COME ON. Did you really not think you'd be lunch at some point? It's one thing to know it and have a death wish. People jump out of planes. People do all kinds of shit they know is dangerous as hell and it's kinda sexy to live that far on the edge, but only if you know. If you've got yourself a degree in Advanced Self-Deception and you think it is going to be okay to keep a zoo animal in your living room because it owes you something for naming and putting a little hat on it, I don't even know what to do with you. That kind of idiocy exhausts me down to my bones.

Listen to Field Negro
O, this is not change that I can believe in. I understand that there is a degree of politics involved here, so you had to kick the can down the road after 2012. But did you have to let the wing nuts pick the can to kick, the shoes you will use to kick it, and which one of your feet you will kick it with? No wonder your base is fit to be tied and the leader of the CBC is calling this proposed debt ceiling bill a "Satan Sandwich". (Tea party sandwich, "Satan sandwich, what's the difference?)

They hate us for our freedom
The ruling elite didn't even have the decency to throw in an extension of unemployment benefits as a sweetener to cowed Democrats in Congress. I guess they figured they could use that as a backup if too many House Democrats decided to follow their consciences... instead of their Conservative Consensus president who already lost them their majority last year and is guaranteeing they won't win it back in 2012. That won't be necessary though, will it?

And, NO. Trotting Gabby Giffords out for spin is NOT going to distract us from the fact the President and the Democrats made a deal with the devil and divided the party. Giffords health care and pension aren't going to be cut.

It's not going to distract us from the fact Democrats provided the boat for the TeaBaggers to sell us down the river. And for what? Or should I say for whom? Not the little girl in the picture. Not the elderly. Not the disabled. Not the single mothers. That's for sure.
