"An open letter to the people who hate Obama more than they love America"

I meet you all the time. You hate Obama. You hate gay people. You hate black people, immigrants, Muslims, labor unions, women who want the right to make choices concerning their bodies, you hate em all. You hate being called racist. You hate being called a bigot. Maybe if you talked about creating jobs more than you talk about why you hate gay people we wouldn't call you bigots. Maybe if you talked about black people without automatically assuming they are on food stamps while demanding their birth certificates we wouldn't call you racist. You hate socialism and social justice. You hate regulations and taxes and spending and the Government. You hate.

Jailed Journalist Sends Shocking Letter from the Birmingham, Alabama Jail.

Alabama commentator Roger Shuler's condition has sharply worsened during his nearly five months of jailing, as I learned by visiting him in Birmingham March 10.
"It's a horrible trauma to be away from your wife, your home -- and have no idea when you can get out or how," Shuler told me in a rare interview. It was just his second jailhouse interview overall and his only one this year.
Shuler, 57, nearly choked up at the end when he said that he missed his wife -- who is afraid to leave their home (except on secret, emergency food runs) because of the threat she will be arrested for her husband's reporting.

“You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them….And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” Senator Barack Obama April 6, 2008

The 7 kinds of American racism in the 2010's

According to the Oxford dictionary, the official dictionary for this blog, racism is:
The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races: ‘theories of racism’
Arizona GOP Congressional Candidate Slavery Wasn't So Bad, "Kept Business Rolling"
“Basically slave owners took pretty good care of their slaves and livestock and this kept business rolling along,” he said.
8 Shocking Instances of Moronic Right-Wing Malevolence This Week
"We have got this tailspin of culture, in our inner cities in particular, of men not working and just generations of men not even thinking about working or learning the value and the culture of work, and so there is a real culture problem here that has to be dealt with."
You don’t have to be a genius at cracking codes to understand that he’s simply saying: Blacks are lazy. They prefer being poor to working. (As if working was a surefire way not to be poor.)
White Torture of Black Bodies:  6 Medical Experiments on African Americans You Never Knew About
By now most people know about the Tuskegee syphilis experiments, but what many don’t know is that this was just one in a long line of experiments conducted on African-Americans. The experiments actually began during slavery, when African-Americans were treated no better than field animals, and continued from there.
"And for the record, I do not hate you. I am embarrassed by you and nauseated by your cruel and thoughtless behavior and your all consuming greed, but I do not hate you. I forgive you and I hope you can change someday, but I don't hate you. You have enough hate in you for the rest of us as it is."

RedEye's Monday Rundown

Embedded image permalink

Regular postings are light because my real life collided with my blogging life. Please accept this blog stroll until  Jupitar aligns with Mars again.  Thanks to those who continue to read even when there is nothing new to read.  It continues to amaze and humble me.

We’re now told, relentlessly, that bad-apple schoolteachers have wrecked K-12 education; that their unions keep legions of incompetent educators in classrooms; that part of the solution is more private charter schools; and that teachers as well as entire schools lack accountability, which can best be remedied by more and more standardized “bubble” tests.
The woman Civil Rights leaders threw under the bus.
Every year during Black History Month, Rosa Parks’ name rolls off the tongues of schoolchildren and educators around the nation as they discuss the civil rights movement of the 1950s and ’60s. Yet the lesser-known Claudette Colvin, whom media outlets have referred to as “The Other Rosa Parks,” still remains absent from any teachings. The historical amnesia that surrounds Colvin is indicting for its revelation of how much the white gaze did and still controls how we remember history and select our icons.
Mrs. Schnauzer, Carol Shuler remains under threat of arrest in Rob Riley's lawsuit.
In court papers Riley claims that Legal Schnauzer "purports to be a joint enterprise" between Roger and Carol Shuler. The blog, however, does nothing of the sort. It lists one author, Roger Shuler, and it lists no contributors or administrators because there aren't any.
Welcome to Left in Alabama Miranda Joseph Democratic Candidate for State Auditor!
Psst!  Do you think you could use your influence to get me (RedEye) reinstated as a front page contributor over there? If not, I understand.
Not content to make unfounded allegations that found their way to the newspaper thanks to that pesky Open Meetings law (kudos to the reporter for sussing out the date/time of the special called meeting), Interim Chair Worley spent her Mother's Day evening trolling Facebook, where she posted on Miranda Joseph's page
"I am shocked that one who wants to be a candidate for public office does not support paying one's bills and living within one's means -- whether it's the ADP, personal debts, government spending or whatever. We Democrats criticize the Republicans for increasing the deficit and praise President Clinton for balancing the budget! Surely a candidate for auditor does not advocate running sway from one's debts!"
Eugene Robinson:  I'm Black, Don't Shoot Me.
Sometimes, when I'm in my car, I crank up the music pretty loud. All you Michael Dunns out there, please don't shoot me.
Please don't shoot my sons, either, or my brothers-in-law, nephews, nephews-in-law or other male relatives. I have quite a few friends and acquaintances who also happen to be black men, and I'd appreciate your not shooting them as well, even if the value you place on their lives is approximately zero.
I thought we were fighting them over there so we wouldn't have to fight them over here? What do want to bet if this were a members of The New Black Panther Party this would be all over the news?
Three members of a Georgia militia have been arrested and charged in federal court regarding a conspiracy to attack federal agencies with explosive devices. On February 15th two of the men attempted to obtain pipe bombs and thermite devices in order to carry out their attack on the TSA and FEMA and other agencies, according to the US Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. The three men allegedly chatted online from January 23rd to February 15th regarding their plans to attack the Federal government.
You won't hear about this in the media or see it on TeeVee because it's not a bunch of Tea Party folks calling the first African American President of the United States a Kenyan born, Muslim, Sub human mongrel, Socialist, or worst.
On February 8th 2014 in Raleigh, North Carolina, the state capital, Moral Mondays and the left-wing HK on J Coalition staged the largest civil rights protest the South has seen since Selma in 1965.
It is not (yet) as large as the Occupy movement was just before the nationwide police crackdown in 2011, but it has a broader base: young and old, black and white, working and middle class, teachers, doctors,pro-abortion activists, etc. Church and labour leaders support it.

They are who/what we thought they are

"One of the things we can't do is, we can't let them distract from what we're all about, and what we're trying to accomplish. We're trying to keep the focus on comprehensive, universal health care reform, and they're going all over the place. They are desperate, uh, they don't have leadership, uh, they really don't know what to do, and so, I think we're going to continue to see a lot of crazy things happening, like all of the, uh, outrage that has been demonstrated at these town hall meetings, like the kind of statement that Congresswoman Jenkins made, and let them define themselves, let them reveal who they are.
The American public needs to see that."~Congresswoman Maxine Waters D. California
"I'm sick of republican apologies where they pretend to be the victim."
A real and sincere apology focuses on the real victims of an event by recognizing what they've suffered, not on delivering a self-serving diatribe on how they, themselves, have been affected.
That is all.  For now.

RedEye's Wednesday Rant

What do you want to bet if Rodger Shuler's second amendement rights were being violated instead of his first amendment rights they Righty's would be on this like right, I mean, white on rice?  This is proof that democrats and liberals don't have the same rights as republicans and conservatives in Alabama.

This might be the last thing I write about the Crucifixion of Melissa Harris Perry, ....and it might not be.  First of all,  Melissa Harris Perry is not going to be fired because she apologized for something she didn't say or do, so there is no need to stand with her, OK?    White supremacy wins again.  As blogger Mack Lyons said, it's an adventure in double standards. All I can say is I don't know how she can repair her credibility with me after this.

I thought republicans were pro life and pro guns?

The trouble with black sock puppets is not that they are wrong – sometimes they are right – but that they are arguing in bad faith. ~Abagond

Happy New Year?

I'm back..... sort of.  Trying to catch up with all of the political news and views after my annual holiday mental health break.  Just for kicks I tuned in to Morning Joke, I mean, Joe to determine what the right wing is whining about in 2014, only to learn they are whining about  the same things they whined about in 2013.

1.  The Federal Government is impeding job growth.  Oh really?  I guess they think the American people are too stupid to realize the republicans control the house, and their counter parts in the senate are the party of obstructionist.

2. The red state democratic candidates are in an up hill battle for re-election because having access to Obama Care, I mean, affordable health health care, is so unpopular in their states?  Oh really?  I guess that's why people are signing up like crazy in the red, republican, Confederate, slave states.

3.  New York's rich fear their new mayor because he's going to take all their money and give it to the poor.  Not.

The more things change, the  more they remain the same...

Happy Merry Everything to Everyone!

Celebrating and Living Kwanzaa: Sowing and Harvesting Seeds of Good

RedEye (get it?) would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy, healthy, safe, holiday season. Postings will be light as RedEye takes time off to eat, drink and be merry with friends and family. Here are some must reads for you to read until  the RedEye returns.

Today Marks Two Months That Legal Schnauzer Rodger Shuler Has Been Unlawfully Jailed in Shelby County.
"As Americans celebrate Christmas, I hope they will take a moment to realize their constitutional protections are rotting out from underneath them," Shuler said. "The prior restraint doctrine that grows from the first amendment and is supposed to protect my reporting in this case dates to 1780, and that predates the Lewis and Clark expedition. If our judiciary is so corrupt that it can't get simple constitutional law like this correct, then we are about to become more like Communist China that any of us care to admit."

Farewell to the "Most Hated White Man in the South"
“Don’t ever go back to Birmingham. You’ll never be welcomed. You are a disgrace. You are the most hated white man in the south.”
You get the Twelve Months of Crazy you vote for.
No, 2013 really has made a name for itself in only one way. It was a year of general political incompetence, frothing buffoonery and self-made disasters. It was the year a chastened Republican Party did a lot of soul-searching as to why the voters no longer liked them, and followed it up by doing all of those same things twice over. We continued our tradition of not being able to accomplish even the most basic of legislative tasks; we were introduced to new battle lines declaring that however many children needed to be shot down in their classrooms, it was the price we were willing to pay for maintaining the collective white male gun erection; we saw the slow sinking of every last political savior into swamps of their own making.
What's that you say?  Better health care for blacks depends on the states?  I'm shocked!  Shocked I tell you!  Not.
Of the 41.3 million uninsured Americans and legal U.S. residents, 16 percent are Black. African-Americans tend to be uninsured at a higher rate than other Americans, statistics show. While 16 percent of all non elderly U.S. citizens and other lawful residents are uninsured, 20 percent of eligible African-Americans lack health insurance.
Many of those uninsured live in Florida (677,000), Georgia (631,000), Texas (617,000), North Carolina (380,000) and New York (354,000).
But four of those five leading states – all except New York – do not plan to expand Medicaid, which advocates said is troubling as many African-Americans lack insurance because of meager incomes.
It's the Media that's making us stupid.

The Poverty Rate in Alabama remains unchanged, seventh highest in U.S. but that's OK, at least Alabama is #1 in college football.  Snark

Ooops!  Black Male Dance Groups Stirs Controversy in Semmes Alabama Christmas Parade.

Republicans declare racism ended because Rosa Parks

The Republican National Committee claimed in a tweet that racism is dead, “Today we remember Rosa Parks’ bold stand and her role in ending racism.”
And then they corrected it with “Previous tweet should have read ‘Today we remember Rose Parks’ bold stand and her role in fighting to end racism.’ Apparently someone informed them that contrary to their PR push, minorities are still insisting that racism exists.

Hear Rosa Parks in her own voice, in her own words describing what happened on  December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, AL.

Today's Must Read
If Only Rosa Parks had an AR15 and 100 Round Mag

I wonder if Rosa Parks had boarded the bus armed with an AR 15 and 100 rounds of ammunition would the bus driver have ordered her to give up her seat in the "colored" section so a white man could sit down?  What if she had jut stood her ground  with an AR15?   As a matter of fact, there probably wouldn't have been a "colored" section if black folks had exercised their 2nd amendment rights.  Oh wait....black folks don't  have 2nd amendment rights back then.   Big Snark

Racism has ended my Donkey.

Rodger Shuler says he will remain in jail "indefinitely"

By David J. Krajicek for WhoWhatWhy
Columbiana, Alabama—In his first interview since he was jailed last month for contempt of court, Alabama journalist Roger Shuler said he will stay behind bars indefinitely rather than comply with a judge’s “unlawful” order to scrub his blog of scandalous stories he posted about a powerful Alabama politician’s son.
Roger Shuler on Jail Videophone

“Free press, free speech, the First Amendment—none of this means anything to these people,” Shuler said. “I don’t see any reason I should remove the material. Is a person obliged to take an action based on a judge’s unlawful order?”

"In the words of NWA, F**k the Police"~ Update

WAS 14-YEAR-OLD Joseph Williams "brutally tortured" by Bucks County cops, as his mother alleges. Or did the ninth-grader take a nasty spill on his face when he was shot with a stun gun while fleeing police?

The Internet wants to know.
The police are suppose "to protect and serve." Sadly, that slogan does not reflect our experience with the police. Far too often, the police harass, humiliate, beat, shoot and kill innocent black people. Shooting at van full of children over a freaking speeding ticket? Making black people sing and act like chimps? Really?

Hide the women and the children, George is free.

This was a rough day for Sean Hannity's friend, George Zimmerman.
"It was a Tuesday to forget for George Zimmerman after he was charged with assaulting his girlfriend, kicked out of her house, and served with divorce papers — all in the same day.
The only consolation for Zimmerman is that a Florida judge allowed the notorious former neighborhood watchman to be freed on $9,000 bail, although he was fitted with an electronic ankle bracelet.
PayPal Donations Help Support the Fight for Justice in the Legal Schnauzer First Amendment Case
Fighting against the forces of evil and tyranny does not come cheaply, but the donations that have come to us via the blog's PayPal donation button have made that fight much more feasible. Hopefully, this will help enable the release of Roger Shuler from Alabama's own little "Gitmo" soon. As well as, fighting the ruthless, powerful and obscenely corrupt thugs who orchestrated this entire travesty and finally holding them accountable for what they have done.

It's the Media, they think we are Stupid. Monday Edition

With all the media "outrage" over a blotched website, I'm wondering where is the media outrage for the millions of people being denied Medicaid in the Red Republican Confederate Slave States of America?  I guess it's easier to help the republicans de-fund, delay, and repeal the Affordable Health Care Act by people who have access to quality, affordable, health care than it is to focus on  people who finally have access to quality, affordable health care.

We certainly can't look to the Democratic Party to exhibit any political courage. Nope, Democrats (and I use that term loosely) care more about keeping their jobs than doing their jobs. But here's the rub, republicans have figured out that hating Obama Care is not the way to win elections.

The Legal Lynching of The Legal Schnauzer will not be Televised.  What do you want to bet if this were a right wing, conservative blogger, who wrote about President Obama being a Kenyan born Muslim Socialist Interloper there would be wall to wall, 24/7 poutrage?
This is Carol, Roger's wife. On Friday, we provided a brief update on the Nov. 14 hearing on "permanent injunctions" in the Legal Schnauzer first amendment case. And not surprisingly, it was indeed a kangaroo court, though possibly even worse than we had anticipated. We reported that Shelby County Courthouse officials turned away the majority of the people who attempted to appear at the mysterious and strange proceedings by claiming it was closed to the public. However, some supporters were able to gain access to the previously undisclosed location.
Here we go again....... the white, male, dominated, mainstream, media trying to justify the use of the N word by white people.  Attention White People.....go see the movie 12 Years a Slave for a clear understanding of why YOU CAN NOT USE THE N WORD EVER.
“White America don’t get to dictate how me and (Shaquille O’Neal) talk to each other and they have been trying to infiltrate themselves saying, ‘Well you guys use it, it’s in rap music.’ No, that’s not the same,” Barkley said. “As I tell my white friends who I love like brothers … they’ve asked me, When is it appropriate? I say well when you use it around the wrong brother the next thing you’re going to hear is the clock side to your d**n head. That’s when it’s inappropriate.”
We The People can't win for the media.

RedEye's InJustice Week in Review

In a blogosphere where a conservative can pretend that he has been mistreated by police or mischievous "lefty bloggers" and raise a ton of money overnight, the left wing blogosphere just became aware of Shuler's arrest and apparent mistreatment by Alabama police Friday morning, more than a full day after Shuler was dragged from his home and thrown into a police car.

"This could happen to you."

Legal Schnauzer: Legal Schnauzer First Amendment Case Featured in a Special Report on CBS Channel 42 News
This is Carol, Roger's wife. CBS Channel 42 News, a local television news station serving the Birmingham Metro area, highlighted the Legal Schnauzer first amendment case in a special report featured during their 6 p.m. broadcast Nov. 12. The video segment was more than 4 minutes in length and is currently posted on the news station's website entitled "Jailed Blogger in Court" by Mike McClanahan.
Are Media MIA in Bloggers's Beating Arrest?
News coverage continued this week in erratic fashion regarding the Oct. 23 arrest and continued jailing of Alabama political commentator Roger Shuler, a longtime journalist and muckraking blogger.
A few news outlets covered as an important story Shuler's ongoing jailing without bond on contempt of court charges. A few others provided brief reports. Most simply ignored the jailing of a journalist for violating court orders that themselves appear to violate decades of clear-cut constitutional law banning prior restraint of the media from reporting.

Veteran's Day Witnesses War on Freedom and the Constitution

This Veterans Day remember, on average, at least 22 Vets commit suicide daily. America doesn’t do enough for our returning Vets and it’s not getting better. That is wrong on every level. And it disgusts me. The VA report can color it however they want…it’s still wrong that more Vets die by their own hand than in Afghanistan. They are the invisible casualties of war.

Legal Schnauzer: Bleak Veteran's Day Witnesses War on Constitution in Legal Schnauzer First Amendment Case: There is a war being waged on the U.S. Constitution and our Bill of Rights by the rich, powerful, well-connected and corrupt. And the travesty involved in the Legal Schnauzer first amendment case is on the front lines of that war. Police brutality, prior restraint, unlawful search and seizure, police harassment, denial of due process, false arrest and malicious prosecution, as well as, suppression of free speech and freedom of the press--our civil liberties are currently under assault.

Justice for Renisha McBride! Justice for Trayvon Martin! Justice for Jonathan Ferrell! Justice for Jordan Davis! We must end all forms of racial profiling and racial violence. We must repeal Stand Your Ground laws.

Why MORE Black People Need to say F^*k THE POLICE We want the police to quit STOPPING and FRISKING us at every single turn just because of the melanin in our skin, and prosecuting us at rates unseen in other communities.

Seriously. This is not fair.
We want the police to stop using citizens to feed America’s prison industrial complex, and actually help us build and patrol our less advantaged communities without making us all culprits.

Freedom isn't Free in AmeriBama

Fellow blogger Rodger Shuler, aka Legal Schnauzer, is still behind bars in the Shelby County, Alabama jail for being the kind of journalist we wish we had, instead of the kind of journalist we have.  But then again, seeing how being the kind of journalist we wish had lands them in jail, we can understand why we have the kind of journalist we have.  According to Rodgers wife Carol lots of organizations are stepping up to help so hopefully we will see and hear from Rodger Shuler again, but then again this is AmeriBama.

A glaring example of the kind of "journalist" we have in Alabama. We must dare to defend Rodger Shuler's rights, too.

Roger Shuler might be a wingnut conspiracy theorist and a crackpot. He might unfairly besmirch conservative Alabama politicians with little or no evidence to back up outlandish accusations.
But he is certainly an American. As such, he certainly has a constitutional right to free speech, and that right certainly has been trampled by a judge in an Alabama circuit court.
It is hard to feel sorry for Shuler: Earlier this year, he began writing about Rob Riley on his political blog Legal Schnauzer, accusing the attorney of scandalous behavior in his personal life. Riley, son of former Gov. Bob Riley, sued Shuler, asking a Shelby County judge for an injunction to stop Shuler from making such attacks. Shuler failed to show up for the hearing, then ignored a judge's order to make a court appearance. He even threw the court's papers out of his car window as he cursed the officers who were trying to serve them.
That's when Judge Claud Neilson lowered the boom. He ordered Shuler to remove the offending articles about Riley from the website, and forbade Shuler from writing anything further about Riley. Shuler ignored both orders, and wound up being arrested at his Shelby County home Oct. 23 for contempt of court and resisting arrest.
Shuler deserves to be punished for contempt of court.
See what I mean?  The writer had to make it about Rodger Shuler the person, and assassinate his character before he sorta kinda defended his rights. I'm going to admit as one of them there liberal bloggers in the land of darkness, I mean Dixie, I'm kind of afraid to write on this subject, and I'm kinda afraid not to write on this subject.  I know that for the grace of God go I, but what the hell, if you don't stand for something you will fall for anything, and, in the end we will not remember the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends.

Despite the picture painted by some Alabama journalist, Rodger Shuler is not a bomb throwing, wingnut conspiracy theorist. If he were, he wouldn't be in jail IMHO. All you have to do is read his blog to realize he's smart and courageous.  But this isn't about Rodger Shuler, the person, it's about Rodger Shuler the American.

When you look for Roger Shuler on the state court database, Alacourt, the search results return several cases, but none of them is the defamation lawsuit in which the Shelby County blogger is being jailed for contempt of court.
If you know the case number, you can type it in, but that only yields a white screen, blank but for four words in big red letters.
"This case in confidential," it says.
As a result, basic information about the lawsuit, such as the parties involved, hearing dates and the status of the defendant are hidden from public view.
According to Marshall, sealing an entire case is rare and usually happens in cases involving minors. But in this instance, it essentially creates a secret court in Shelby County, he said.
"There is a secret docket," he said. "That is not common in American courts."
Hope for Liberty said it best:
Shular didn't just blow off the court hearing and he wasn't evading service, he just wanted it done right IAW the law. He filed an objection to improper service which requires the judge to rule before he can take jurisdiction and set a hearing. Shular was waiting for this ruling, but instead the judge throws him in jail.

You can't be held for libel and slander when making statements against a public person. Good grief, how many people would be thrown in jail for making slanderous statements about Democrats or Republicans.

This whole case is about the violation of law by judicial officials and the power of the elite in this State.

Like Shular or hate him, you had better stand up for him, because you could be next. FYI, he was the 2nd person in October to be arrested for taking on the AL elite . Welcome to Naziland!
This is something to think about when we send our sons and daughters to fight for freedom on foreign shores.

I am for truth no matter who tells it. I'm for justice no matter who it's for, or against~ Malcolm X

What's that you say?  President Obama hates the Congressional Black Caucus just as much as he hates the Tea Party?  I'm shocked Shocked I tell you.   Not.

The mainstream media and the Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads are calling President Obama a liar and making him apologize because he said he had proof of tons and tons of WMD in Iraq and Saddam was about to use them on us.

If you are a black person in America  and you happen to find yourself in danger, do not go to a random white person for help. Especially if you have to go to their home. You are better off taking your chances with the elements.  It is open season on black people in America.

Update 2 ~Support the Continuing Fight for Justice in the Legal Schnauzer First Amendment Case

"Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid...for the Lord your God goes with you." Deuteronomy 31:6,NIV

We address why Shuler was allegedly beaten then arrested and jailed
Roger Shuler is a journalist who worked for a daily newspaper for years and most recently has been blogging at legalschnauzer. He was recently jailed and not given a trial date or any other indication that he’ll be released any time soon. Alabama journalist Andrew Kreig spoke to me on radio Thursday night about the case.
Alabama Politics Blogger jailed for writing on ex-governors son
Shuler was arrested last week in his Birmingham home and is being held without bail in a Shelby County, Ala. jail for contempt of court and resisting arrest.

ACLU Steps in to defend Rodger Shuler
Legal Schnauzer blogger Rodger Shuler, who has been (pardon the pun) doggedly documenting allegations  of corruption among Alabama’s Republican elite, was beaten and arrested by a gang of Shelby County, Alabama sheriff’s deputies on October 23rd for refusing a court order that Shuler claimed (and persuasively demonstrated) was illegally served and unconstitutional. He has been held without bond on two charges that reek of “trumped up to punish someone challenging the powerful.” This morning, we learn that the whistle blowing blogger has had an ally on board since late last week – the American Civil Liberties Union:

Update Nov. 4: As of this writing, Shuler remained in jail, and his wife was barricaded in their home, fearing that knocks on the door might be authorities trying to arrest her for her husband's writing and refusal to remove it from his website. Few mainstream media covered the story.
