"Racism shouldn't be a part of college campus culture"

OK, it's official.  Recent events have shown us they hate us for our freedom, but the question is why? What could we have possibly done to deserve such...hatred?  There was a time EYE believed the old, die heart racist would well....die, but they aren't dying, they are multiplying, breeding a new generation of Haters.

Please read this article and take about 4 minutes to watch the video produced by University of Alabama Students about racism and being called the N-word on campus.  At last count there were 1823 comments posted, most of them by white conservatives.  Read them too.

Then read a letter from a Virginia teen as he details daily racial abuse he faces in middle school.

RedEye tip toeing away from the computer to go pray.

RedEye's RoundUp

EYE haven't  decided what EYE want to write about today, until EYE do,  here is a run down of a few of the issues that caught my EYE

Rut Rho!  Governor Bentley's (R. Tuscaloosa)  hometown newspaper is calling on him to make his divorce records public or resign.
Why, for starters, he lives even his private life in housing that belongs to the state of Alabama. He is provided security by the people of the state even when he's not working. For his term of office, even when he is on vacation, the governor is never really off duty.
There is just one problem with that resigning thingy..... Batsh#t crazy is waiting in the wings. Shudder

Speaking of what looks like Crazy in #SweetHomeAlabama.... Miss Alabama proves why Alabama is #1 in College football....Education not so much.
McGuffin, the reigning Miss Alabama, said Republicans should be "absolutely terrified" that Trump is an 'entertainer' that is taking a lot of attention away from other Republican presidential candidates.
Yep, republican candidates like Jeb "Brother of Dubya" Bush, Chris "Bridge Gate" Christie. and Carly Fioriona .  Girl Bye.

You won't see this on TV, hear about it on the radio, or read about it in the press because it doesn't involve one them there dark skinned Muslims, but a Breitbart source was arrested for trying to incite a 9-11 Terrorist Attack.  Remember the guy who went after Shaun King, feeding his information to Breitbart? It was this guy:
It's clear conservative are fervently praying for another terrorist attack on US soil they could pin on President Barack Obama and Democrats. It's the only card they have left to play. And now we're seeing one actively help a would-be terrorist build a real bomb, to kill real Americans, in a real American city.
It's the Media
One only needs to look at the circus between networks and the GOP party. The unhinged clowns, rabid animals are running the circus, while the ring masters abandoned all decency for lunacy.
EYE report.  You decide.

Today in Black Mayors bad leaders, White Mayors good leaders

First it was CNN's Carol Costello,  now it's MSNBC's Morning Mika putting Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed in his place, I mean, taking him to task for refusing to accept total responsibility for something that is not his fault.   I mean, really?  You would think Mayor Reed closed down a bridge for partisan political gain or something.

This is what happens when there is a lack of diversity in the mainstream media.  Black politicians get no love unless it's a republican black politician. Is the media using the snow storm to put Mayor Kasim Reed in his place?

Remember former New Orleans Mayor Ray NaginJournalist tired to put him in his place, I mean, smacked him down too.

Black Mayors bad leaders. White Mayors good leaders.

A Third Open Letter to Joe Scarborough

I am re-posting this letter by contributor  Average  Citizen under my byline due to technical difficulties.  Links inserted for emphasis and clarity.~RedEye

I confess to regularly watching “Morning Joe” for the political discourse and as a barometer for what some Republicans are willing to accept as true (Fox News doesn’t work for this purpose) in the face of overwhelming facts. My previous two open letters were related to Joe’s support of the voter ID laws while being highly disingenuous as to their content and impact and failure to acknowledge the political motivation as opposed to fighting a minuscule level of alleged fraud. This letter has to do with his defense of Chris Christie and Bob McDonnell, Republicans who came under fire, but can count on their ally Joe Scarborough to be their apologist and offer a strong defense against the least of what has been alleged, while ignoring the major issues.

Let’s start with former Governor Bob McDonnell, who along with his wife, was indicted on 14 counts of violating Federal laws. They not only accepted, but requested hundreds of thousands of cash and gifts from a wealthy businessman who wanted support in launching his company. Having access to no more information than you and your producers Joe, I’ve seen the direct flow outlined in the indictment showing both the “quid” and the “pro quo” when calls were made to set up meetings with state officials within hours of receiving gifts. There’s a promotional picture of the ex-Governor doing his best Vanna White imitation holding a can of the product in question at a launch party he hosted at the Governor’s mansion. Yet you Joe are in denial.

You forcefully claim that the Governor broke no Virginia state laws and how the Fed’s had no business getting involved. The law used to indict the couple, the Hobbs Act, was old (1951) and therefore not relevant somehow. This is a portion of what the law states;

“ Whoever in any way or degree obstructs, delays, or affects commerce or the movement of any article or commodity in commerce, by robbery or extortion or attempts or conspires so to do, or commits or threatens physical violence to any person or property in furtherance of a plan or purpose to do anything in violation of this section shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.”

Since you have decided that Federal law doesn’t apply somehow to Republican Governors that you support, I think we can find some Virginia state laws they violated although you have absolved them. They gave away state property to their children including liquor, pots and pans and food from the Governor’s mansion. State law would consider that theft. They obstructed justice by telling lies to prosecutors along with the people of the state in their claims that first they and then their daughter paid for a reception and dinner again held at the mansion. I’ll give you credit for being consistent in your defense of McDonnell as you have backed him for months as this scandal unfolded. No doubt if convicted, you’ll clamor for a fine and no jail time as if he did nothing really wrong.

With Chris Christie your apologist theme is that he hasn’t done anything that politicians haven’t always done. In your view he merely used the levers of power to get others to bend to one’s will. There are two separate issues currently with Christie; the shutting down of access lanes to the GWB in apparently some sort of political retribution, and the alleged extortion attempt involving state controlled Hurricane Sandy relief funds to Hoboken.

Regarding the bridge your first deflection was to try to focus instead on Benghazi and the IRS indicating somehow that it was not worthy of further inspection in light of those other alleged scandals. You tried to suggest that the issue was over after the second round of dismissals of Christie staffers without acknowledging the several other members of Christie’s staff already named in E-mails in having a role, and having no explanation how the Governor was somehow unaware of what was in the newspaper and television daily and the subject of multiple calls and e-mails to his office. His version of the story, and his seeming lack of interest despite his acknowledged micromanaging style, seems perfectly acceptable to you.

Regarding the withholding of Sandy funds until the Mayor of Hoboken approved funding of a development project for the Rockefeller Group (to the exclusion of all other developers), you’re response was to lambaste the Mayor who came forward. She didn’t do what you say you’d have done which was to threaten the Governor who had the power to in this case allow your town to remain crushed in the aftermath of the hurricane. Mayor Zimmer has spoken with the Federal prosecutor for the area and made statements which if untrue could land her in jail. You side with the broad denials of the accused as they shield themselves with defense lawyers and stonewall.

A real news person would follow the story. What efforts have been made by the state to push this development down the throat of Hoboken, while shutting out other developers of similar projects on nearby seemingly equivalent land? What do the E-mails between the Port Authority Chairman Samson, the Governor’s office, the Lt. Governor and others say? You imply she’s a liar but make no effort to ferret out the truth.

Joe you are a defender of the rich and powerful and have lost touch with the people. While you see these instances as either not important or business as usual. It’s clear that your alliance is with the 1% who may no longer be funding your elections but now are your advertisers. You tell the parts of the story that meet your objective and drown out and cut off others with opposing views. The barometer you are is no longer that of the moderate Republican but that of the complete apologist for the rich, wealthy and powerful. Shame on you!

" There can be no public discourse"

File:The-problem-we-all-live-with-norman-rockwell.jpg
The problem we all live with — by Norman Rockwell (1894–1978), depicting an incident in the American Civil Rights struggle of the early 1960s, when Ruby Bridges entered first grade on the first day of court-ordered desegregation of New Orleans, Louisiana, public schools (November 14, 1960). Originally published in Look magazine.

Looks like Colonel Casey Wardynski and the Huntsville City Schools Board of Education have taken a play out of the Chris Christie playbook in their quest for "unitary status".   Despite the fact the Feds said there is no need for secrecy, the #hsvboe is doing all it can to make sure there is no public discourse,  and in their infinite wisdom, the  media is helping them.  We the peeps never know what's going on until the deed is done and they think there is not a darn thing we can do about it.

Case in point, who knew the location of the new J.O.Johnson Middle and High School is .06 miles from an active Rock Quarry?  Meanwhile residents on the other side of the Mountain voiced outrage and desperation at a public meeting last month, saying they feared the blasting, increased heavy truck traffic and defacing of the mountain would damage homes, worsen air pollution, endanger lives and lower property values.
State Rep. Wayne Johnson, R-Ryland, is trying to get a bill passed by the Legislature that would prevent a quarry from operating within five miles of a school in Madison County.

So, if State Representative Wayne Johnson was trying to get a bill passed by the Legislature that would prevent a quarry from operating within five miles of a school in Madison County, why would the Huntsville City Schools Boardof Education, with the approval of  Mark Russell, president of the Huntsville City Council and other elected officials, approve the building of a new school .06 miles from an active quarry?

Other elected officials speaking against the quarry were Mark Russell, president of Huntsville City Council, Madison County District 3 Commissioner Eddie Sisk, state Sen. Paul Sanford, state Sen. Shadrack McGill, state Rep. Wayne Johnson, Gurley Mayor Rob Sentell, Gurley Councilman Robert Wren.
Their concerns addressed environmental quality of Flint River and Hayes Nature Preserve, unsafe traffic with trucks crossing Norfolk Southern Railroad along a curve, heavy trucks sharing roads with school buses, air quality at two nearby schools and a lack of local governmental control of the quarry operation.
What about the air quality at the new J.O. Johnson High School?  What about the blasting?  Would you want your children/grand children attending a school that was located .06 miles from an active rock quarry? The Rock Quarry was there first, it can't be moved, why build a new school that may or not be safe for students, teachers, administrator, and support personnel,  in it's back yard?

What Dr. Robert Bullard, Environmental Justice Movement founder said:
No other community, rich or poor, urban or suburban, black, brown, red, yellow or white should be allowed to become an "environmental sacrifice zone."

They are who/what we thought they are

"One of the things we can't do is, we can't let them distract from what we're all about, and what we're trying to accomplish. We're trying to keep the focus on comprehensive, universal health care reform, and they're going all over the place. They are desperate, uh, they don't have leadership, uh, they really don't know what to do, and so, I think we're going to continue to see a lot of crazy things happening, like all of the, uh, outrage that has been demonstrated at these town hall meetings, like the kind of statement that Congresswoman Jenkins made, and let them define themselves, let them reveal who they are.
The American public needs to see that."~Congresswoman Maxine Waters D. California
"I'm sick of republican apologies where they pretend to be the victim."
A real and sincere apology focuses on the real victims of an event by recognizing what they've suffered, not on delivering a self-serving diatribe on how they, themselves, have been affected.
That is all.  For now.

Faking the Funk When the Facts Don't Fit the Narrative

We have to laugh to keep from crying to see the Mainstream Media Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads faking the Chris Christi funk because their media enabled narrative doesn't fit the facts. Seriously, I just heard a Talking TeeVee Pundit Head say New Jersey Governor Chris Christi could "recover from so called  Bridgegate", because the electorate has a short memory."

Oh really now?  I for one haven't forgotten how House Republicans impeached President Clinton for trying to conceal a private, consensual, sexual, encounter. Nor have I forgotten how they are constantly trying to impeach President Obama because he wants all Americans to have access to quality, affordable, health care.  It seems to me that using your office to punish people for political revenge is...what's the word I'm looking for(?)......horrifying.

"The truth is Christie was never the Straight Shooter that political reporters and pundits made him out to be. Not even close,"
I'm talking to you Shaq.

Paging Chris Christie!

New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie (no, that's not a typo) is calling for the head (literally) of the New Jersey Teachers Union to resign after he tells poor families life's not fair.

WESTFIELD — Gov. Chris Christie on Wednesday called for a top leader of New Jersey’s teacher’s union to resign or be fired over for saying “life’s not always fair” while discussing poor families’ inability to afford private schools and union opposition to vouchers that could help them do so.
New Jersey Education Association executive director Vincent Giordano made the comment in an interview over the weekend on NJTV during a discussion focusing on school vouchers, which would in some cases let students use public money to attend private school.
When pressed on the dilemma faced by parents who can’t afford to remove their children from failing schools, Giordano, whose annual salary in 2009 was more than $326,000 — not including more than $165,000 in deferred compensation — replied: “Life’s not always fair and I’m sorry about that.”
He went on to say: “We should work more closely with administrators and with this administration and we should provide the best possible education within our public schools. Our public schools are among the best in the nation. There are areas, urban areas in particular, that are challenging and that’s where we should be focusing more of our energy and more of our efforts.”
Psst Chris!  How about coming to Sweet Home Alabama and calling for Madison County republican leaders Hugh McInnish head (pun intended), for telling the DOJ 'unfairness of life is the cause for racial disparities in schools'.

HUNTSVILLE, AL -- A leader in the Madison County Republican Party has written a letter to federal officials stating that disparities between white and black students in Huntsville's school system exist because "life is unfair."
"If there is unfairness, it is because life itself is unfair. The unfairness is not manmade," said Hugh McInnish, at-large member of the county's Republican Executive Committee.
McInnish sent his letter to U.S. Department of Justice attorney Allison R. Brown following a Tuesday morning news conference at his home in the Ledges, a gated community in south Huntsville. The letter was in response to a Feb. 16 letter from Brown to school board attorney J.R. Brooks that detailed racial disparities Justice Department investigators found in Huntsville's schools regarding student and teacher assignment, advanced course offerings and discipline.
There is more than a whiff of hypocrisy. Chris Christie isn't concerned about poor families/students any more than Hugh McInnish, but they both use them as pawns in their political games.

God, please help America.
