The Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads and the Polling Pollsters who Poll them keep saying "this is a really close election", my question why is it even close? Are the American people willing to bite off their nose to spite their face? I mean, really?

Putting Eric Holder in his place "Fast and Furious"
![]() |
| The Importance of Being Eric |
k Obama and Eric Holder (two dark-skinned guys) concocted a scheme that would have forced good white people everywhere to voluntarily give up their guns. Theplan was to run MILLIONS of weapons into Mexico. The spread of violence as a result of all those firearms would surely spill over across the border onto American streets - resulting in the countless murders of innocent white children with red hair and freckles and names like "Rusty" and "Muffie". The result of the carnage would force the American people to demand a ban on all guns. It's an evil, liberal plot, you know.
Any DINO/BLUE DOGS who joins with republicans and vote to hold Eric Holder in contempt should be given the middle finger from this point on. What good is electing a democratic representative if they govern like a republican?
Eric Holder i
s being held in contempt of congress by a contemptuous jackass like Darrell Issa. Isn't that funny? The House will be voting on the matter this week. You can guess which way they're going to go with this one. Holder does not want to handover to Issa documents he is legally forbidden to produce - applications for wiretaps and grand jury transcripts for instance. Holder won't budge and Obama is citing "Executive Privilege". "What are they hiding?" goes the cry. It's nothing more than a political witch hunt; a desperate attempt to discredit the Obama administration just in time for the November election. Are enough of the voters going to be stupid enough to swallow this bullshit without so-much as a chaser? Judging by their pathetic history the answer to that question is a resounding "YES".

I HOPE the Supreme Court overturns the individual mandate
Pick your teeth up off the floor and read on.
According to the all knowing, Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads, The Supreme Court will overturn the individual mandate portion of the Affordable Health Care Act on Thursday.
Sometimes a loss is a victory, we now have the opportunity to put the health back into health care reform.
According to the all knowing, Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads, The Supreme Court will overturn the individual mandate portion of the Affordable Health Care Act on Thursday.
Sometimes a loss is a victory, we now have the opportunity to put the health back into health care reform.
Ever since health reformers opted to put lobbyists before people, partisan brawls over "Obamacare" and "Hillarycare" have dominated public debates. In dragging federal health reform before the Supreme Court, however, conservatives not only succeeded in shining a critical spotlight on this flawed law. Inadvertently, they have also given us another chance for envisioning a health care system that actually meets our health needs.
This is an opportunity to give the people what we want; Real Universal Health Care
We want Medicare for All!
As the nation awaits a Supreme Court ruling on the constitutionality of the Obama health care approach, a new Associated Press-GfK poll suggests that the vast majority of Americans want Congress to come up with a better plan. They know that the current system is unsustainable. Only a third of those polled favored the law President Barack Obama signed, but according to the AP, “... Whatever people think of the law, they don’t want a Supreme Court ruling against it to be the last word on health care reform.” The article continued, “More than three-fourths of Americans want their political leaders to undertake a new effort, rather than leave the health care system alone if the court rules against the law, according to the poll.”Americans need and want real health care reform.
Republicans say that Americans don't want top-down government control of their health care. But what we have now is top-down corporate control of health care. Insurers, drugmakers, sellers of expensive equipment, hospital executives, labs, home-health-care services and others unnamed prosper by exploiting the chaos in our health care system.NO COMPROMISE this time.
This opens the way to a political bargain. Insurers might be let off the hook, for example, only if they support allowing every American, including those with pre-existing conditions, to choose Medicare, or something very much like Medicare. In effect, what was known during the debate over the bill as the “public option.”
So in striking down the least popular part of Obamacare - the individual mandate - the Court will inevitably bring into question one of its most popular parts - coverage of pre-existing conditions. And in so doing, open alternative ways to maintain that coverage - including ideas, like the public option, that were rejected in favor of the mandate.
We want Medicare for All!

Update~Today in media enabled republican hypocrisy
Breaking News-the all white, TeaPublican controlled, House Oversight Committee voted to Stop and Frisk Attorney General Eric Holder. The TeaPublican controlled House of Representatives will vote next week, so we can expect the same outcome, despite the fact President Obama has exerted Executive Privilege on the grounds to release the documents would have significant damaging, consequences, and it grants the Attorney General immunity from prosecution.
I say release the documents and let the TeaPublicans be responsible for the significant, damaging, consequences. And since the TeaPublicans are so gung ho about investing stuff that happened under the Bush administration all of sudden, let's investigate 9/11 and the U.S. Attorney Purge.
The media is spinning the Obama promised transparency meme, so let's have some transparency and let the chips fall where they may.
RedEye
TeaPublicans are hypocrites, the media thinks we are stupid, and democrats need to nut up and call them out, or, bend over and take their gang banging like Girlie Men.
The gop infused, media enabled, TeaPublican controlled Congress is considering voting to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress because they are scared of their Batsh#t crazy base. Want proof they are scared of their base? The the Attorney General is willing to turn over the documents they have requested, but then the media wouldn't have a wall to wall scandal involving President Obama to breathlessly report about during an election year. Weapon of mass distraction from the real reason the TeaPublican controlled Congress has contempt for Eric Holder.
I have to give the republicans credit, unlike democrats, they don't threaten, they do it. The media must think we have forgotten about Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and White Counsel and Supreme Court nominee Harriet Meir's. This isn't about Fast and Furious, this is a media enabled weapon of mass distraction from the real issue.
The real reason the TeaPublicans want to repeal ObamaCare as they call it, is because gasp blacks and Latinos will benefit is the law is upheld. What else would make people vote against their self interest?
The Voter ID laws and Voter Purges aren't about voter fraud. You know how I know? Because we didn't hear a mumbling word about Voter ID, or Voter Purge during the republican Presidential Primary. TeaPublicans don't want everybody to vote. Can you say weapon of mass distraction from the real issue?

The Department of Public Safety and Me
I consider myself a law abiding citizen who has never intentionally broken any laws, so you can imagine my surprise when I attempted to renew my Alabama drivers license to learn they were suspended.
What?!
When?!
Why?!
The nice clerk at the Court House asked me if I had any unpaid traffic tickets? I said not to my knowledge. She informed me I would have to go the local Department of Public Safety office for answers/reinstatement before they could renew my license. I said OK, do you know what time they close? She replied they closed at 5:00 PM. The clock on the wall in the court house read 4:15 PM. The DVM is about 5-8 minutes away, so off I go.
I arrive in the parking lot at the Department of Public Safety at exactly 4:25 PM. There are three cars in lot including mine. The sign on the outside of door says the hours are Monday-Friday 7:30 AM until 5:00 PM, except holidays. Inside there are two young women waiting, a boy and his father being served, and 5 female employees. I explain to the woman sitting behind the desk I need to reinstate my drivers license and she handed me a piece of paper told me to fill it out and bring it back tomorrow morning because they "stop working at 4:30 PM because they had to get ready to leave at 5:00 PM".
Excuse Me?
The sign on the door says you don't close until 5:00 PM?
They told me at the court house you closed at 5:00 PM?
How can you stop processing request 30 minutes prior to closing?
Why do I have to come back when I'm here now?
What if I can't come back tomorrow at 7:30?
Answer, and I quote- You don't think we can close at 5 and leave at 5 do you? We have to set the alarm and lock up the building. There is a sign on the inside of the building that says we stop processing Drivers License at 4:30.
So know we know. Although they are being paid to work until to 5 PM they stop working 30 minutes early at the local DPS office. I could see if there were a line to be processed stopping people from getting in line at 4:30, but the office had more employees than customers. Our tax dollars at work. On us.
I proceeded to use my cell phone to take a picture of the clock on the wall to document the time but was informed I didn't have permission to take their picture and I could be sued.
Oh really?
Please sue me for taking pictures!
I explained I wasn't taking their picture, I was taking a picture of the clock but since they had on official State Trooper Uniforms I acquiesced.
RedEye Roll
At approximately 4:29 PM I placed a call to the State Department of Motor Vehicles in Montgomery. I explained to the nice lady who answered the phone my drivers license had been suspended and I wanted to know why and to reinstate them if necessary.
Did she tell me to call back tomorrow because they stopped processing request at 4:30 PM because they had to get ready to close the office at 5:00 PM? Nope. She asked for my DL number and the last four of my SS#. I gave them to her and learned my license were suspended because I didn't respond to a random request for proof of insurance I never received, because it went to my old address, and they do not forward. I was told when I presented proof of insurance my DL would be reinstated immediately. Thankfully I don't have to return to the local Department of Public Safety. I'm pretty sure I'm on their sh#t list.
Let's play What If and What About?
What if I had been stopped by police, or involved in an accident and discovered my license were suspended?
What if I needed a valid Drivers License to board an air plane for work or an emergency?
What if I needed a valid Drivers License to register to VOTE?
What if I couldn't come back to my local DPS the following day?
What about the time and resources already spent?
What about the people who work from 7:30 AM until 5:00 PM M-F?
Why is it so hard for tax payers to get basic services?
I wonder if I had been a white male/female tax payer would I have been told by the female African American Alabama State Employee to come back tomorrow because they stopped processing 30 minutes prior to closing?
The reason I'm asking is because the two young women waiting to be served, and the boy and his father being served where white, 3 of the 5 State employees were African Americans, with the two African Americans doing the fussing, I mean talking.
Wondering why we are required to have proof of liability insurance to have a Drivers License but not required to have proof of health insurance if we get sick and have to go to the Doctor/Hospital. Oh wait....
If it's this hard to get my drivers license renewed I wonder how hard it's going to be for tax payers to obtain a state issued Voter ID card?
RedEye tiptoeing away from the computer to go have my license renewed.

Monday Morning Talking Points
Starting today the Felonious Five and Minority Four will hear three days of oral arguments in the most significant Supreme Court Case in Decades. The gop infused, media enabled Tea Party, call it Obama Care, Democrats call it what it is, The Affordable Health Care Act. I call it the Obama Cares if you live or die act.
In essence the United States Supreme Court, who btw has access to the best government run health care our tax dollars can buy for life, are going to decided if we the people can have the same access to quality, affordable health care for life. What's not to like about that?
If the government can require you to purchase liability insurance for your automobile, why can't they require you to purchase health insurance for your body?
The Alabama Senate has approved a new bill that would allow recall of public officials!!! It's about damn time! Maybe we'll get some accountability from our elected officials for a change. You hear that Huntsville City School Board of Education?
Meanwhile Alabama gop legislators scramble to try and un ring the bell cause they are reaping what they've sown. Good luck with that.
From the They Must Think We Are Stooopid File, or, the They Must be Desperate File, if they are pushing the meme that Charter Schools are being pushed in Alabama by Obama Liberals. I guess it depends on what the definition of an Obama Liberal IS. NOT.

The Southern Belles stand by their men folks-Edit
So, the Alabama and Mississippi Suckers have spoken. I'm not surprised Rick "don't want to give bluh people white folks money" Santorum came in first. Followed by Newt "lazy blacks on welfare" Gingrich. Poor Mitt "damn Yankee" Romney came in third, with Ron "racist newsletters" Paul bringing up the rear.
Nor was I surprised to learn Rick and Newt wouldn't have won without the support of white, Republican, women. One thing my rich southern heritage has taught me is white, Republican, women, stand by their man.
True story #1; I attempted to attend a Health Care Town Hall meeting, but couldn't get in, so I was forced to hang out in the parking lot with others who couldn't get in. A white, visibly pregnant, young women carrying a sign calling The Affordable Health Care Act, socialism (code for welfare for black folks) saying she didn't want to be forced to take ObamaCare. I told her no one would/could force her to change her present health insurance plan, it was for the 46 million people without health insurance. She looked me dead in the eye and said, "I don't have insurance". I kid you not.
True story #2; While attending a pre-Thanksgiving Dinner/Meeting the talk turned to politics and voting. One young, white woman claimed she talked to a "black man who said he wasn't voting for Obama". yeah, right. Another young, white women said, "I just vote for who my husband tells me to vote for." I told her she was setting women's rights back 100 years. She looked at me and said "That's all right", like she was hurting me or something. Sigh
Best selling author, Kathryn Stockett, via Aibileene in her book The Help, provides insight into the mindset of some (not to be confused with all ) southern, white women.
The Help page 187-188I reckon I know pretty well what would happen in the white ladies found out we was writing about them. Womens they ain't like men. a woman ain't gone beat you with a stick. Miss Hilly wouldn't pull no pistol on me. Miss Leefolt wouldn't come burn my house down.
No, white womens like to keep they hands clean. They got a shiny little set a tools they use, shar as witches' fingernails, tidy and laid out neat, like the picks on a dentist tray. They gone take they time with em.
First thing a white lady gone do is fire you. You upset, but you figure you'll find another job, when things settle down, when the white lade get around to forgetting. You got a month a rent saved. People bring you squash casseroles.
But a week after you lost your job, you get this little yellow envelope stuck in your screen door. Paper inside say NOTICE OF EVICTION. Ever landlord in Jackson be white and ever one got a white wife that's friends with somebody. You start to panic some then. You still ain't got not job prospects. Everywhere you try, the door slams in your face. And now you ain't got a place to live.
Then is starts to come a little faster.
I will never understand how any self, respecting woman could vote for a Republican, for any reason I just can't.
Power of the privileged. The privilege of the powerful.

Artur Davis, I Hereby Revoke Your Black Card~Update
Regular readers know former Alabama Congress Critter Artur Davis ripped his drawers with me and showed his natural born ebony donkey a long time ago. I suspect my pointing out he was named the Field Negroes' House Negro for the day for voting against the Health Care Reform Act is partially responsible for my ebony donkey being booted off the front pages of Left in Alabama.
Attention Republicans, the mainstream media and other white folks!
Artur Davis has no credibility.
Artur Davis had no credibility.
Artur Davis will never have any credibility.
Stop playing the Artur Davis Card.
End of story.

Fattening Black Frogs For Corporate Snakes
A “small herd” of rightist Black politicians is seeking statewide office, further mangling Black politics in the process. In practice, this trend allows white voters “to decide which kinds of Black politicians rise to state and national prominence.” Among the latest entries is Congressman Artur Davis, running for governor of Alabama. Rep. Davis is consistently ranked among the worst members of the Congressional Black Caucus – which is the source of his white, corporate appeal.

Friday Photo Blog with Commentary
H/T Leftwing Nutjob via Progressive Soup Welcome to my Blogroll!
This is the latest gop pResidential debate in a nutshell, 4 white guys with the access to the best health care their millions can buy telling millions of Americans who don't have access to quality, affordable health care they don't need access to health care because it's ObamaCare.
This is the new face of the gop. And she felt threatened by the President of the United States of America because he's a scary African American man surrounded by the Secret Service? ROFLMAO!
Racism Chasing? I report. You decide.
Did you know Sean Hannity got his start in Alabama? Are you surprised Hannity helps promote Newt Gingirchs foodstamp attack on President Obama? Naaahh. He's just helping Gingrich find his race card.
Happy Friday!

Mitt Romeny is a nice guy in the wrong party
Watching poor Mitt struggle to be mean and hateful during last night's gop debate reminded me of something I overheard someone say about Robert Bentley (r) when he was running for Governor of Alabama~ He's really a nice guy, just hooked up with the wrong party.
Although the gop establishment and the mainstream media have decided it's Mitt's turn, the gop base says Hell to the NO! Mitt's just too damn liberal, I mean decent.
The gop base doesn't want a nominee who was for quality, affordable health care for all Americans.
The gop base doesn't want a nominee who supported a woman's right to choose to have a safe, legal abortion.
The gop base doesn't want a nominee who supported gun control or equal rights for LBGT citizens.
The gop base doesn't want a nominee who supported amnesty for immigrants.
Nope, the gop base wants an adulterer, a radical or a homophobic. I'll bet the gop establishment and the media regret enabling the Tea Party concept now.
Psst Mitt! You have a better chance of being elected President of the United States if you are on the right (pun intended) side. As Kelle Patterson sings "If it don't fit don't force it. Just cause that's how you want it doesn't mean it will be so."

What I learned from the BlogOsphere Today
If our so called mainstream media informed the public, instead of shaping public opinion we wouldn't have The Sad, Spectacle of the Undecided Voter. What are they undecided about? I feel the same disgust with those refer to themselves as undecided as I do with so called moderates and independents. What are they moderate and independent about? I suspect most are really republicans who are ashamed to identify with the gop infused, media enabled, Tea Party. You are either for something or against something, there is no in between. As much as I hate to paraquote pResident Dubya, yer either wit us or aginst us. I'm sick of the both parties are the same meme too. Democrats represent 99% of we the people. Republicans represent 1% of the people, by the people for the people. People are undecided because they're being misinformed. Period.
Thanks to ObamaCare, More young people have insurance. Who knew? To let republicans tell it, they were sent to Washington to keep more young people from having insurance. Snark
Uh Oh! The Alabama Democrat Party is handing out Holiday Gifts. The *ahem* Democratic party leadership, not to be confused with the brass knuckle wing of the democratic party, plan to field a candidate in every gop held Congressional district. Well, isn't that special? I can't wait to see the candidates party leadership fields. RedEye Roll
Repeat after me, Charter Schools are back door privatization. They do NOT benefit poor, black children. They benefit the wealthy. If Charter Schools were for the benefit of poor, black, children, the gop would not be for them.

RedEye's Week in Review
H/T jobsanger. Republicans proved they want Obama to fail this week. What they actually mean is they want to put President Obama in his place, thereby putting future uppity African Americans in their place so they won't dare inspire to be the leader of the Free World. President Obama is the only President in modern history who has to fight the gop, the media and even his own damn party.
Republican Congressman and Presidential Candidate Ron Paul's dirty little secret about his pandering to racist, rednecks for personal political gain was exposed this week. That's what you get for being the front runner Dr. Paul. Ask Herman Cain, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich and others. Who knew there were a lot of racist, rednecks in Iowa?
The Noah Diaries at DownWithTryanny has the most comprehensive review of 2011 on the web, a must read from top to bottom.
Bigger Butt Congress Critter Jim Sensenbrenner (r. WI) apologized for commenting on First Lady Michelle Obama's large posterior. I'm not mad at Sensenbrenner for exercising his 1st amendment right to criticize the FLOTUS. Although they weren't Congress Critters, some said Barbara Bush looked like George Washington and Laura Bush looked like the Joker on the TV movie Batman. I'm just saying...
The next time you see Mike Huckabee (r. Arkansas) on you TeeVee talking about repealing ObamaCare because it was passed in the middle of the night, blah, blah, blab, blab, think about THIS.
What's that you say? American's newsrooms are becoming whiter? I wonder why? Snark

Merry Christmas Suckers!
Why do people vote against their self interest?
When the majority of the American voters , not to be confused with the majority of the American people, handed the House of Representatives over to the Tea Baggers, I wondered how long it was going to take for them to realize they'd been punk'd by the gop infused media enabled Tea Party.... I wonder if they even realize they've been betrayed?
Psst! Listen up!
President Obama, the TeaPublicans and the Talking TeeVee Pundits Heads are part of the1%. They are going to be fine regardless, you on the other hand.....
If President Obama, the TeaPublicans and the Talking TeeVee Pundits get sick they have access to the best health care our tax dollars can buy. You on the other hand....
President Obama, the TeaPublicans and the Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads are going to have a great Christmas with plenty of food and lots of presents under the tree. You on the other hand....

PA 'Alabama'?

The keystone state has been in the news lately due to revlations of thePenn State child sex abuse scandal, which took me back to the 2008 Presidential primary and campaign when some parts of Pennsylvania were compared to Alabama.
President Obama lost the democratic primary to Hillary Clinton, but carried the state by a 10.31% margin over John McCain in the general election.
McCain did win more counties than Obama, but the counties carried by Obama were by far the most populated of the state, including Philadelphia and Allegheny, home of the cities of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh respectively.[20]
Looks like Pennsylvania wanted to return to the days of slavery and Jim Crow too.
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - April 30, 2008 (WPVI) -- A state senator told a black pastor testifying at a committee hearing that, given the chance to cast secret ballots, his fellow legislators would vote to legalize slavery.
Like Alabama, then PA Attorney General, now Governor Tom Corbett filed a lawsuit against the Affordable Health Care Act.
Also like Alabama and Mississippi, Pennsylvania had it's share of prosecution of democrats. There are some who say this is the reason then AG Corbett couldn't find the time to investigate Penn State.
A few days ago Governor Corbett went on the Sunday talk shows, gave some press on Monday and Tuesday regarding Mike McQueary (still) coach at Penn St. Corbett kept repeating that McQueary didn’t meet the “moral obligations” of the shower rape and aftermath.
Before becoming (grown) Governor, Corbett was Attorney General and was on the case since 2009. He knows what was going on since then or should have known what was going on. As he talked to all the hosts he gave what now appears to be 1 version of what happened and it’s not the eye witnesses’ McQueary’s story.
McQueary is seen as a villain for not stopping what happened in the showers, but according to him, he did stop it. Will Corbett face any backlash? He should as he all but convicted McQueary on (possibly) false charges. We have to wait and see who is telling the truth. The eye-witness or the man in charge of the investigation.
Corbett also approved a a 3million dollar grant to Second Mile Charity despite the allegations and the ongoing investigation. That's 3 million of tax payer money going to a private source. Sound familiar?
Gov. Tom Corbett this summer approved a $3 million state grant to The Second Mile, the charity founded by suspected child molester Jerry Sandusky, despite knowing about the sex abuse investigation that later resulted in charges against Mr. Sandusky.
The grant is now on hold, said Mr. Corbett's spokesman, Eric Shirk.
The grant would have helped pay for the first phase of the "Center for Excellence" at The Second Mile, which Mr. Sandusky, a former Penn State University assistant football coach, founded in 1977 to work with troubled children.
The center was a grand dream of Mr. Sandusky's that he said would offer "a sense of [permanence] and a place for our kids to call 'home.' " It would have classrooms, a gym, athletic fields and dormitory space.
The sex abuse football-related scandal isn't the only Penn State cover up.
As news unravels around the grand jury report revealing charges against former Penn State football defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky for raping and sexually molesting underage boys, some former black Penn State students are now painfully reliving a scandal that occurred at their university ten years ago. In 2000, the year a janitor witnessed a boy younger than 13 (“Victim 8” in a grand jury report) “pinned against a wall” while Sandusky performed oral sex on him, black students and football players on Penn State’s campus began receiving hate mail.
The hate mail sent to black students had nothing to do with Sandusky’s proclivities, but the two incidences shared something in common: both were ultimately covered up by the university, even as both chain of events grew worse. Sandusky went on to molest and possibly rape more boys, according to a grand jury report (Sandusky denies foul play), and hate mail against black students became death threats.
Race at Alabama
In less than a week, two racially charged incidents that were witnessed by few but now have been discussed by thousands have prompted the president, faculty members and students at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa to publicly decry racism on campus.
On Friday, a member of a white fraternity shouted racial epithets from inside the group’s house at passing student Justin Zimmerman, who is black. The fraternity member, whose name has not been released, reportedly called Zimmerman a “nigger,” then called out, “come here, boy.”
Zimmerman alerted a faculty member, and the next day President Robert E. Witt sent a brief – and vague – e-mail to faculty, staff and students. In its entirety, the message reads, “On Friday evening, a member of the UA student body used a racial slur to refer to another UA student. The words that were used are offensive to our community, and are especially upsetting to African Americans. I want to emphasize in the strongest possible terms that The University of Alabama finds this behavior totally unacceptable, and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.”
I report.
You decide.

Support our Troops this Veterans Day and Everyday
While TeaPublicans waive their flags, slap yellow ribbon magnets made in China on their SUV's maybe they need reminding 2,2266 uninsured vets died in 2008 alone.
Maybe TeaPublians need a reminder Veterans need jobs and better health care as they filibuster the Jobs Bill just to spite Their Commander in Chief.
One behalf of women Veterans I have a suggestion for all the Congress Critters who voted in favor of the Let Women Die Act and Life at fertilization ballot props. Since you are anti choice stop having sex with women and getting them pregnant since you don't want them, or their children, to have access to affordable health care or a job. Then you can vote against ObamaCare and the Jobs Bill with a straight face.
Remember the Faces of the Fallen on Veterans Day and everyday. Our troops are somebody's babies.6,274 U.S. service members have died in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom
Seriously. This is not fair.

"My Name is Barack Obama and I am The President"

If President Obama doesn't go for broke and bring it like Michael Douglas in the movie An American President, he might as well stay his Donkey in the White House and start packing.
Obama was inexperienced although intelligent. He's now had three years to get something done we can feel hopeful about. I don't think there's a person in the country, no matter what economic bracket they are in that feel hopeful. And the people I talk to feel as I do -- we got tooled.
We didn't get the hope or change he promised us when he campaigned for the job. We got a conciliator, a bargainer, a President who was always willing to give up something his supporters wanted in the name of bi-partisanship and compromise.
Which is why we Professional Lefty's criticize the President
I criticize President Obama because I think he and his team can do better. I critique them because we are in a world filled with gigantic problems and only a Democratic president is going to seriously address them. In addition to years of praise of Obama, I also verbally rap them on the knuckles when they screw up. And they have.
The stimulus should have been larger, and even within its limited size it should have been less about tax cuts and more about directly stimulative spending that had more of an effect on the employment figures.
On health care reform, Obama and the Democrats should have fought harder for a public option. I understand the votes weren’t there, but there is value both movement-wide and electorally in making the Republican party the one who killed the option, rather than have the Democrats take it off the table pre-emptively. As I’ve written before, there is value in inching the ball ahead for an initiative that you are destined to lose in the short run.
The inability to articulate a simple message around health care reform, and allowing congress to take the lead role on it past the point of absurdity were key factors in Republicans winning the House in 2010. It energized the conservative vote without a counterpart on the Democratic side. Had the fight for a public option gone on to the point where Republicans were the bulk of the vote sticking a knife in its belly, Obama and the Democrats would have had a stronger rallying cry going into the 2010 election.
It's not to late for President Obama to Offer a Bold Plan to Tackle the "Jobs Crisis" and No Cuts to Social Safety Network
It's not to late for President Obama to stop listening to his white side and listen to his black side.
It's D Day Mister President.
I think most Americans can agree that reducing the public debt is a goal we can all share-- and in the old days of thirty or forty years ago, when congress operated on a more collegial model that involved members from opposing parties getting together on weekends to achieve reasonable compromises over golf and highballs, the Rs and Ds could have found a way to press forward with reasonable deficit reduction plans without pushing us all to the edge of a cliff.
But for the new GOP, compromise of any kind defeats their central purpose, which is political totale krieg. This party's entire reason for being is conflict and aggression. There is no underlying patriotic instinct to find middle ground with the rest of us, because the party doesn't have a vision for society that includes anyone outside the tent.
Don't be skeered Mister President
Barack Obama deserves credit for turning the country in a more positive direction following the disastrous George W. Bush presidency. Obama has taken steps forward in several key areas--economic recovery, health-care reform, and financial regulation.
But the Obama record, so far, has not been nearly as strong as it could have been. And based on three major news stories from the past two weeks, we are starting to think there is a fundamental reason for that: The Obama administration is terrified of white people.
This fear, in our view, has nothing to do with the fact that Obama is our first black president. Rather, we suspect it has to do with the fact that Obama is a centrist Democrat. And it seems "centrist Democrat" is simply a fancy term for a liberal who is afraid of white people.
Here is what I wish President Obama would say tonight.
I am sick and tired of the gop infused, media enabled Tea Party holding our country hostage for their own sick, partisan, political gain. I love my country and I'm not going to let this bunch snatch the keys to the car and drive it back into the ditch and charge us for the the gas (h/t jk). For the past three years I was so busy keeping my job I forgot to do my job. Well, that ends right now. Tomorrow morning, the White House is sending a Stimulus/Jobs bill to Congress for its consideration. It's White House Resolution XXX, a bill that creates jobs, repeals the tax cut on the rich and doesn't cut Social Security and Medicare. It is by far the most aggressive stride ever taken in the fight to reverse the effects of the Bush mis administration. The other piece of legislation is the Affrodable Health Care Act. As of today, it no longer exists. I'm throwing it out. I'm throwing it out writing a law that makes sense. You cannot address health care until all Americans have access to quality, affordable, health care. I consider it a threat to national security, and I will go door to door if I have to, but I'm gonna convince Americans that I'm right (no pun). I'm gonna get MediCare for all. We've got serious problems, and we need serious people, and if you want to talk about character, TeaPublicans, you'd better come at me with more than a burning flag and a birth certificate. If you want to talk about character and American values, fine. Just tell me where and when, and I'll show up. This is a time for serious people, TeaPublicans, and your fifteen minutes are up. My name is Barack Obama, and I *am* the President
Just do it Mister President. We've got your back.

Republican Presidential debate recap and "what if" Wednesday
Armed with an arsenal of sock bombs I watched the TeaPublican Presidential debate so you wouldn't have too. The new Republican motto is Let Bigotry Reign Supreme Talk abut a group of people that can really make me feel ashamed of being an American. What rock did these people crawl out from under?
The *ahem* debate can be summed up in 4 one liners.
Repeal Obamacare
Cut taxes on the rich
Cut government spending
Keep a special eye on them there scary Muslims and sneaky Mexicans.
Not a mumbling word about jobs, education, or the middle class.
Not a mumbling word about access to health care or bringing our troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Not a mumbling word about the mortgage meltdown or the environment.
Not a mumbling word about reproductive freedom, civil rights and human rights.
Not a mumbling word about restoring honesty, integrity and justice to the Department of Justice.
Nope. All fear and bigotry all the time. UNfair and UNbalanced. That's the republican way.
RedEyes translation;
Only the rich and Congress should have access to quality affordable health care. The rest of y'all are tough out of luck.
The rich get richer while the rest get the shaft.
Cut government spending on the American people but increase government spending for all war all the time.
Send them there Mexicans back to Mexico (except the one who work for us).
Terrorize the American people with anti Muslim fear mongering.
What if Reverend Al Sharpton said "Why buy a gun?" then points at picture of George W. Bush?
What if President Obama hadn't wasted opportunities?

Coming mere days after the release of photos of a recovering Gabrielle Giffords, its a stark reminder that the conservatives who control so many media platforms in this country are hell bent on demonizing Obama, Democrats (just ask Janice Hahn) and liberals before the next election. And no, there is no line they won't cross, even the one that suggests you need to buy a gun to "prepare for tough times" while displaying pictures of our nation's president.
What if President Obama hadn't wasted opportunities?
Obama has proven to be a conservative president, not a progressive, a liberal or a democrat. For the life of me, I don't understand why Republicans dislike him. He has continued every policy that Bush enacted, he's just more articulate, but nothing has changed. What does it take for him to understand?

Don't listen to republicans
Why does anyone listen to republicans? I mean, really? They have ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, creditability. History proves they are on the wrong side of every issue. So please tell me why they are allowed to use the public airways to mislead the American people and distort what we decide while liberal/progressive voices are silenced? Why aren't we hearing about the Progressive Caucus Budget to the same degree we're hearing about Paul Ryan's budget proposal?
What's that you say? The Americans want new taxes on the rich and cuts to defense? I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you! That explains why we aren't hearing about it in the media. *Snark*
Let Congress Test Out Paul Ryan's Medicare Plan on Themselves and Their Families: That Would Kill It Right Quick
Why aren't Senator Bernie Sanders and Dennis Kuchinich invited to appear on mainstream media talk shows? I'll tell you why, it's because they might tell the TRUTH.
The 75-member House Progressive Caucus has put out its own budget to counter Paul Ryan's Medicare-gutting GOP plan.
This is more than a fantasy document. It's sound policy. The conservative Economist magazine has called the budget "courageous." As a conversation-starter, it shows that the path out of our debt and deficit quagmire is not as steep as most imagine, and that getting America's fiscal house in order isn't incompatible with making critical investments in jobs and infrastructure.
The budget has more of what Americans say they want — new taxes on the rich and cuts to defense — than either the GOP's or the president's budget. And it has none of what Americans say they hate: changes to the social compact that's guided America from the days of the New Deal and the Great Society.
If the politicians in DC are so serious about deficit reduction, then why don't they start by cutting their own pay, health care benefits and pensions?
Doesn't budget control begin at home?
And if Paul Ryan's Medicare plan is so terrific, why don't Ryan and other Congressional supporters of his budget immediately pass a bill that will replace their health care benefits with the Ryan plan?
In fact, why not run a test program with the Koch brothers, members of their Americans for Prosperity and elderly Tea Party supporters? All of them should volunteer to immediately go on the Ryan Medicare, drastically limited "voucher program" - which would leave a high percentage of seniors unable to afford medical insurance - as sort of a test model of Ryan's plans for privatizing and shrinking Medicare.
Then we can see the actual results of a plan that would raise health care costs by adding the profits of corporations and administrative costs to Medicare, while drastically reducing benefits due to the small amount of money allocated to vouchers for each senior - and the for-profit insurance industry profit motivation to deny as much care as possible.
Why aren't Senator Bernie Sanders and Dennis Kuchinich invited to appear on mainstream media talk shows? I'll tell you why, it's because they might tell the TRUTH.

Stoopid TeaPublicans...and Other Sorry Excuses for the State of the Nation
I almost feel sorry for the TeaPublicans. Today is Decision Day. Will they or won't they shut down the government at midnight and blame it on the democrats?
Will Democrats cave, I mean compromise and give them the domestic spending cuts they want?
Or, will TeaPublicans compromise for the sake of the country and kiss their Tea Party support bye bye?
Let's be clear, although the TeaPublicans claim this is about cutting spending and creating jobs it's about social issues that have nothing to do with creating jobs.
It's about the super rich not wanting to pay their fair share of taxes.
It's about defunding planned parenthood in an attempt to come between poor women and their doctors so they can have children they can't afford and be forced to go on welfare...oops they want to cut welfare too.
It's about controlling the public airways and defunding National Public Radio so Americans will know what they want us to know instead of what we need to know in order to make informed decisions.
It's about sending them there illegals back to Mexico except the ones who work for republicans.
It's NOT about spending, because if they really wanted to cut spending, balance the budget and reduce the deficit they would defund the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and now Lybia.
Booman's Steven D offers a serious plan to avoid a shutdown
President Obama warned us the day of reckoning was coming
Can you hear him now?

Booman's Steven D offers a serious plan to avoid a shutdown
First, l agree to all your tax cuts as one means to solve our deficit problem. A problem by the way that is oh so much more important than jobs or unemployment or providing essential government services like social security, medicare, medicaid, environmental protection, safe food to eat, scientific research, regulation of criminal organization Big Banks, preventing security fraud, helping more Americans go to college, hurricane forecasts and benefits for our veterans, to name but a few. I understand that eliminating all these things are of vital importance to Cracked Teapot Party Republicans. So serious that they will shut down the government rather than give up on their cause.
However, I suggest we raise the ante a bit. After all $60 BILLION, $70 BILLION even $100 BILLION of spending cuts is not going to solve the problem. The trouble is that those cuts alone will do nothing to eliminate the budget deficit. Indeed, I have it on serious authority that Rep. Ryan's plan, if enacted will actually increase the deficit..
President Obama warned us the day of reckoning was coming
"[W]e've got to close the gap a little bit between the rhetoric and the reality," Obama said. "[I]f the way these issues are being presented by the Republicans is that this is some wild-eyed plot to impose huge government in every aspect of our lives, what happens is you guys then don't have a lot of room to negotiate with me."
Can you hear him now?
