#SweetHomeAlabama Governor Robert Bentley (r. Tuscaloosa) says the "outcry" over the racism of closing the DVM offices is "race politics at it's worse."

Alabama one of the most corrupt states in the country
Project much Governor?    EYE think balancing the budget on the backs of Alabama's Black Belt, refusing to expand Medicaid, signing a Voter ID Bill , closing DVM offices in the Black Belt, robbing the public education budget, and cutting off state funding to planned parenthood, preventing poor /black women from having access to a safe legal abortion is playing race politics at it's worst, but that' s just me.
"Alabama is not George Wallace's state. I don't want it to be George Wallace's state." said Bentley. "I want us to be inclusive. I don't want us to look at the color of people's skin. I don't want us to look at whether they are male or female. We are all Alabamians and I'm their governor. I know most of them (blacks in the affected counties losing driver's license offices) are not going to vote Republican. But you are not going to win people over by not being inclusive."
Psst Governor Bentley.....look in the mirror and say that so you can see how race politics at it's worse looks.

Blaming the victim is so GOP.

The Power of the Press to turn the pigs into farmers, and the farmers into pigs #SweetHomeAlabama

hubbard at organizational session by julie.JPG
The 2010 Republican takeover of the Alabama Legislature was supposed to bring powerful ethics reform to Montgomery, but instead we got something worse that what we had. (Julie Bennett/jbennett@al.com)

According to Alabama Media Group columnist Kyle Whitmire: It took Alabama Democrats 136 years to be this corrupt, the GOP matched it in four

The story usually starts with hopeful promise of something different -- you know, the thing that's going to go rotten by the end.
That was the year the Alabama Republican Party took control of the Alabama Legislature for the first time in 136 years. The mini Republican Revolution came with promises -- the Handshake with Alabama was supposed to be the state's own Contract with America.
At its core was ethics reforms that Goat Hill Democrats had rejected for years.
Among them was a ban on PAC-to-PAC transfers, which lobbyists and politicians had used to launder campaign money.
Wham! Promise delivered!
Also there were to be new restrictions on lawmakers doing business with those who do business with the state.
Zip! Done!
And finally, the Alabama Ethics Commission -- long a toothless tiger -- would finally have subpoena power to investigate corrupt public officials.
Ding! Dong!
The Witch?
Dead!
Here we are a quadrennium later, the Alabama Republican majority has proven that it is unquestionably superior to the all-but-extinct Alabama Democrats. The level of corruption Democrats took 136 years to achieve, the GOP has bested in just four years.
First, let's decode the code words, Democrats is code for the blacks. The media driven false narrative makes it socially acceptable to express the idea that black politicians are corrupt and inept and do not behave like adults.  So the party that tries to help the little guys and gals is corrupt, and the party that helps the rich get richer is not. What's up is down, what's down is up.
And this time we can tell the pigs from the farmers, because the pigs are even worse.
EYE want my Liberal Media back.

Stuck on Stupid in Alabama " Thank God (Republicans) are in control of the Senate and the House." Richard Shelby says

Sweet Home Alabama, listed as one of the most corrupt states in the nation, already has one of the loosest gun restrictions in the country, but that wasn't good enough for the red, republican, controlled state legislation.  Nope.  They want to make it easier for children to walk around locked and loaded so they can whine about black on black crime, and have candlelight vigils for victims of gun violence.
To rectify this gap in the unstated “guns for everyone” mentality of Alabama’s Republican-led legislature, lawmakers have proposed an amendment to the state’s gun laws that would allow minors to acquire their very own pistols. At the moment, the law is on a bit more even keel, stipulating that “no person shall deliver a pistol to any person under the age of 18.” Lawmakers want that changed to allow minors to have pistols, but only if they get the permission of a “parent, guardian, or spouse who is 18 or older (?)”
And they wonder why police shoot first and ask questions later?
The bill, if passed, would also eliminate record-keeping requirements from the Code of Alabama, removing language that mandates firearm dealers "keep a permanent record of the sale of every pistol, revolver, or maxim silencer, showing the date of sale, serial number, or other identification marks, manufacturer's name, caliber and type, and also the name and address of the purchaser."
Who could possibly think this is a good idea?
The measure is sponsored by three state senators: Arthur Orr, Greg Reed and Clay Scofield (all Republicans). A matching House bill is being sponsored by Ed Henry, Micky Hammon, Barry Moore and Corey Harbison (all Republicans). It’s unclear why the group of lawmakers felt that kids needed additional relaxation of existing gun laws.

 God, please help America.
"This world will be a dangerous world - more dangerous than it is today. I hope that deal doesn't come through. If it does, Congress is going to speak on it and I believe we will turn it down. Thank God (Republicans) are in control of the Senate and the House."
I submit Sweet Home Alabama will be a dangerous state - more dangerous than it is today.
Bills like these may be a victory for the NRA, but they are, without a doubt, putting the lives of children in danger. How warped is the mentality of Alabama’s pro-gun lobby that they feel that kids need handguns? How many of Alabama’s children need to die before the “freedom” of a child to carry a pistol isn’t worth the sacrifice? These are questions Alabama lawmakers must answer.
I thought republicans were pro-life?
Republicans aren't pro-life. They are just pro-birth. And there's a big difference between the two.

Monday Morning Talking Points

Starting today the Felonious Five and Minority Four will hear three days of oral arguments in the most significant Supreme Court Case in Decades.   The gop infused, media enabled Tea Party, call it Obama Care,  Democrats call it what it is, The Affordable Health Care Act.  I call it the Obama Cares if you live or die act.

In essence the United States Supreme Court, who btw has access to the best government run health care our tax dollars can buy for life,  are going to decided if we the people can have the same access to quality, affordable health care for life.  What's not to like about that?

If the government can require you to purchase liability insurance for your automobile, why can't they require you to purchase health insurance for your body?

The Alabama Senate has approved a new bill that would allow recall of public officials!!!  It's about damn time!  Maybe we'll get some accountability from our elected officials for a change.  You hear that Huntsville City School Board of Education?

Meanwhile Alabama gop legislators scramble to try and un ring the bell cause they are reaping what they've sown.  Good luck with that.

From the They Must Think We Are Stooopid File, or, the They Must be Desperate File, if they are pushing the meme that Charter Schools are being pushed in Alabama by Obama Liberals.   I guess it depends on what the definition of an Obama Liberal IS.  NOT.

Monday oxyMorons

Rep. Dary Issa (r. CA) says the Obama administration is one of the most corrupt administrations in history.  What did the Obama administration do...take us to war based on DEAD WRONG intelligence to look for WMD that was NOT there without an exit plan? Did they raid the surplus to give the rich a tax cut? Did they out an undercover CIA agent? Did they spy on Americans without a warrant? Can't wait to see the proof of the Obama administrations corruption.

Rep. Jo Bonner (r.AL) takes house ethics chair. No comment necessary.

Sewell '86 ready to represent Selma...once she figures out her way around committe assignments.
Her political director, Terri Sharpley, explained that another important step is reaching out to local leadership in the district.

“One big project that we are working on right now is to have a series of policy roundtables throughout the district and invite the local leaders to come and to voice their concerns about what’s going on in their area and also see what source of ideas they have for how Terri can work cooperatively with them,” Sharpley said.

Alabama has two anti health care reform, anti repealing DADT representatives on the Armed Services Committee
Brooks said he had to apply for one of 13 openings on the Armed Services Committee, and that there were twice as many applicants. He said the process to secure a seat on Science and Technology was not as competitive.

U.S. Rep. Martha Roby, R-Montgomery, also won a seat on Armed Services, giving Alabama two freshman lawmakers on the committee.

Last week, U.S. Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon, R-Calif., was named as the new chair of Armed Services. And McKeon and Brooks might just have something in common.

On Wednesday, a week after being appointed chair, McKeon had already sent a letter attacking the agenda of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. McKeon complained that Pelosi appeared to place a higher priority on repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" than on passing the defense budget for fiscal year 2011. On Thursday, McKeon also announced the direction for the committee: "In the 112th Congress, I intend to place the Armed Services Committee on a war footing with a renewed focus on winning in Afghanistan."

I hope they know what they're doing...
Specifically, he said Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle helped lobby to secure the assignments, as did political fundraisers Linda Maynor, Joe Ritch and Joey Ceci. He mentioned several other community leaders with connections to Washington, including former Texas Congressman Bill Archer.

"We also had some assistance from (former) Congressman Bud Cramer," said Brooks. "He placed some calls."

Defense budget may be be more appealing target for cuts

A new Congress under pressure to cut spending and the federal deficit will likely make the defense budget a more appealing target for cuts in 2011 than it has been in years.
The withdrawal of troops in Iraq, the scheduled drawdown in Afghanistan and the rising costs of military health care and other programs add to the defense budget's allure for deficit hawks.

House to vote early on health care repeal as the number of uninsured Americans soars to 50 million

And what's the first thing the House GOP intends to do? Hold a vote on repealing the Affordable Care Act, because 50 million uninsured Americans isn't a crisis as far as they're concerned. The fact that ACORN ever existed, even though it is now defunct, now that's a crisis.

republicans put guy who hates dreams in charge of immigration

Can Blue Dog so called Democrats survive in the 112th Congress? No, look for them to cross the aisle.

This is what we are up against.

This is what they believe.

President Obama (ObamaCare) wants to take money from people who work for it and give it to people who won't work.

Nancy Pelosi is the devil incarnate because she's Nancy Pelosi.

Democrats are the party of cronyism and corruption.

And they VOTE.....
