Republican Governor Kay Appointed but the Democratic Voters in Madsion County Commission District 6 Annointed

EYE would like to offer my congratulations to  #VioletEdwards the new and first African American female to be elected to the Good Ole Boys Club, EYE mean the Madison County Commission to represent District 6 by the voters in District 6 and for the voters in District 6.  Hopefully, she won't be the last.

But here's the rub:

The turnout in Madison was light as expected, at 14.58%. Out of 290,580 voters, 42,359 went to the polls in the election. There were 39,098 Republican votes and 3,261 Democrat votes cast.

EYE know good and darn well there are more than 3,261 registered voters in District 6, it's the largest district in Madison County.   To be fair there is a COVID19 crisis in Huntsville/Madison County and more voters could have voted absentee, curbside, or via mail if the Republicans hadn't intervened, but EYE have to ask, why are Democrats so darn apathetic? 

As you can see, rain, snow, sleet, shine, or COVID19 Republicans get out and vote.  What's up with Democrats, especially African American Democrats whose right to vote is steeped in blood, sweat, tears, and sacrifice?

This is why the District can't have nice things.

Watch the mayor of Lake Worth Beach, Florida and the majority of the City Commissioners attempt to disrespect, marginalize and minimize fellow Commissioner Omari Hardy's legitimate concerns and see him speak truth to power. 

Let's recap  
This whole thing started when a request for an emergency meeting by Lake Worth Beach County Commissioner Omari Hardy was rejected.

Commissioner Omari Hardy wants the city to discontinue shutoffs of water and electric to city residents with derelict accounts during the crisis. Hardy is also calling for the city to pay employees’ out-of-pocket medical expenses related to the pandemic and allow paid leave for city workers if operations are curtailed or if they are parents who need to stay home with the school-age children.
But city officials say no special meeting is planned and pushed back on Hardy’s request.

Then comes the emergency power struggle

Hardy said that others on the commission have the approach in past emergencies of allowing Bornstein to “do whatever he wants to do.”
’What’s bothering me is that they are not going on record to give him broad power,” Hardy said. “They’re just refusing to do anything and creating a vacuum and licensing him to step into that with their silence and let him do whatever he thinks is right.”

Then come the threats and the accusation Commissioner Omari Hardy is being uppity

“We should have been talking about this last week. We cut off people’s utilities this week and made them pay what could have been their last paycheck to us to turn their lights on.”
Triolo recessed the meeting in an unsuccessful attempt to get Hardy to stop talking.
“You’re done. You’re done,” Triolo told him. “Disrespectful.”

"Disrespectful" is code for watch how you talk to #Colonizers. 

It seems like this OVID19 crisis is shining a light on the difference between Republicans and Democrats. The Republicans only and the Democrats are the ones who care about the people.

EYE don't know why republicans think repealing ObamaCare and replacing it with Trump Don't Care is a good look for them.  They ought to be ashamed of themselves.  But of course, they are not thanks to their white male dominated media enablers.  EYE would be ashamed to admit I was a member of a party that put greed over people.  But this is what happens when the pigs are turned into farmers and the farmers are turned into pigs.

We tried to stop the train from leaving the station but did you help?  Noooo. You said It is over.   So don't expect me to sign another petition, participate in another protest, or show up at a town hall meeting.  To be honest, EYE am going to have to think long and hard about ever voting again since my vote doesn't seem to count and the candidate with the most votes loses.

It's too late to turn back now.  As usual, Democrats are good at talking the talk and poor at walking the walk.   All we can do now is bend over and take our gang banging like Girlie men.

Former Alabama Governor and political prisoner Don Siegelman was finally released from prison today after serving time for being too liberal for Alabama (code for being fair to black folks), EYE mean, who has been serving a 78-month sentence for a 2006 bribery conviction.

Yep, there is no absence of malice in Bama and look for more political prisoners and more democrats/liberals/ to be destroyed under our new United States Attorney General who also hails from the Heart of Dixie.

Election 2016: Can We Find Hope In A Hopeless World?

Well, the red, republican, confederate, slave states finally won the Civil War last night. EYE said it once, and EYE will say it again, the red republican slave states have way too much power.  I'm not sure how this Make America White, EYE mean, Great again is supposed to work but EYE am sure we will find out.  Cue in Dixie

This is white-lash plain and simple enabled by the white male dominated media.  Exit polls show white evangelical capitalist neocolonial racist misogynist anti-Semitic bigoted Christian nationalists, men, and women showed up and showed out for Trump  on election day.  But here is the scary part, Trump received 61% of the military vote compared to Clinton's 34%. What color is the Terror Alert?

EYE have to give The Trumpster credit for giving his people what they want.  He knew he could rely on the segment of society who want to take our country back to before.  Nothing gets white people to the polls like good old race baiting. It's shame democrats were too busy infighting to do the same. 

Speaking of democrats, and I use that term lightly, they are going to have to take their fair share of blame for losing the war and dissolving the union.  " Their “rejection must be complete and blame must be laid squarely at their feet” for raising those chickens that have come home to roost."

The bigger issue isn't whether she and the governor were playing doctor or not. How much influence does she really have on Bentley? Is Ol' Doc's top adviser really his puppet master? The "de facto governor," as Spencer Collier says?

Finally, EYE would like to remind everyone how hypocritical republicans are, especially when it comes to so called #FamilyValues.  It's always the party of so called Compassionate, Conservative, Christians screaming Jesus the loudest, who are the biggest hypocrites.  

What get's me is for the most part they (republicans) get away with it.  Everybody knows if this had been a democrat, or a black lawmaker they would have been tried in the media, forced to resign, and/or convicted/imprisoned.  

Don't believe me?  Ask former Governor Don Siegelman, former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford, former Jefferson County Commissioner Chris McNair , and others. 

And yes, EYE am playing the race card.

But a reasonable person, looking at the broad picture, could ask: Was the real reason these people were arrested that they represent a county that is mostly black, relatively poor, and largely Democratic? In other words, are political prosecutions still the tool of choice for the conservative elites who rule Karl Rove's Alabama--even with Barack Obama in the White House? Are such shenanigans still going on in other "deep red" regions of the country?

It's 2016, EYE am Back!

My annual mental health break is over and EYE am back, raring to go! First, EYE would like to wish my readers a Happy New Year!  It is my HOPE 2016 will be the year for CHANGE we can believe in. If EYE offended anyone in 2015 by Keeping it Real,  EYE apologize.  NOT.  It's only going to get worse in 2016. The first day of the January marks the last day of Kwanzaa. EYE will continue to keep my eyes on the prize, be a voice for the voiceless, refuse to be marginalized, minimized and undervalued, and, to speak my mind with passion, courage and Faith.  That said, let's get busy.

So much stuff happened while EYE was on break EYE don't know where to start.  Since EYE keep an EYE on the Reddest of the Red States let's with a year in review of Sweet Home Alabama, where football dominates, public education, jobs, environmental protection, ethics, and  quality of life for children,  not so much. 

Much Ado was made about the brawl between Birmingham Mayor William Bell and City Council Member Marcus Lundy.  The media tried to make them the poster boys for Scumbags  and incompetence (code for stupid), but EYE must remind them, this is what elected officials do in Alabama.... and, it's not just the African American elected officials.

So, while the white, EYE mean, right wing of the Alabama Democratic Party tried to pull a coupe on Joe Reed and his bunch so white folks could regain control of the party, Alabama republicans were dismantling the already pitiful public education system.  If democrats spent half as much time fighting republicans as they did Joe Reed and his bunch, maybe the state wouldn't be first in football and last in everything else. 

Who knew the reason white democrats stayed at home in 2010 was because they believed Obama hadn’t done enough so they decided to stay home to “punish” Obama for not being the Savior they thought they’d elected in 2008 and stuck all of us with GOP majorities in Congress).  If anyone should have stayed home in 2010 because Obama was not the Savior they thought they elected in 2008 it should have been African American democrats, but we didn't, because we don't have the luxury of not voting.  The right to vote is sacred to African Americans.  It's steeped in blood, sweat, tears, and sacrifice.  We can always be counted on to vote.  White democrats not so much.

African Americans vote even when we don't have anyone to vote FOR.  But that's going to change for me.  EYE will no longer vote a straight democratic ticket.  Just because someone is on the democratic ticket doesn't mean they are a democrat.  And no, an African American Pastor who moved to the state two years ago, who was an Independent (code for republican) before he was a democrat, whose deep personal belief is life begins at conception, and preserving second amendment rights  doesn't cut it. If EYE wanted a someone who shared his point of view EYE would be a republican.

EYE HOPE you are happy now.

EYE have to give credit where credit is due, low information voters will turn out and vote.  EYE wish someone would figure out a way to suppress their vote.  Thanks to their willful ignorance we can't even vote them out.  Strike that ,we can vote them out if white democrats/progressives ,or whatever they want to call themselves these days, would get off their Donkey's and VOTE.

That said, Democrats must have someone to get off their Donkey's to vote FOR.  In some cases republicans are running unopposed. What does that tell you about the sorry state of affairs when the party that is anti minority, anti choice/women, anti labor, anti public education, anti LBGT, pro war, and debt as far as they can see has a full slate of proud candidates, and the party that is supposed to be for the little guys and gals have none?  What is wrong with this picture when democrats are ashamed/afraid to be called liberal/progressive, and bend over backwards to be conservative?

It used to be the job of the media to inform the public so we could make informed decisions.  Now it's the job of the media to misinform the uniformed, which enabled the gerrymandering, voter suppression, and dark money, creating this situation where we can't even vote them out of office.

EYE sure do miss the good old days when the the candidate with the most votes won instead of the candidate with the most money to use the public airways to keep misinformed uninformed.

Psst Joe Reed, Nancy Worley, and the SDEC...This open letter is for Y-O-U

Dear Above All,
It's me, RedEye, as you know, EYE am a big supporter of you and your leadership, that's why it really pains me to write this letter.  My Daddy used to tell my siblings and me he would support us 100% if were done wrong, but he wouldn't support us if we were doing wrong.  EYE hate to tell you this, but you are doing Artur Davis wrong.  You can't allow the other traitors/infiltrators  back into the party, then stand in the party door when it comes to him.  You just can't.  

Let Artur Davis slink back in too, but let this be a lesson learned....once they leave don't let them back in.  None of them.  Apply the Radney Rule equally.    As a matter of fact, you might want to re-examine this "big tent" meme too. Stop letting any and everybody under the tent.  In case you haven't noticed the right side of the fence is fighting against the left side of the tent, making the whole damn tent fall down.

I'm glad you aren't falling for the diversity scheme, I mean, meme, but you have to be more careful about some of these democrats whose main purpose is to prevent democrats from living up to their agenda.  Am I talking about a purity test?  No.  I'm talking about a loyalty test.  You are either for the democratic agenda, all of it, or you are against the democratic agenda.  It's that simple.

If we could get the pseudo democrats out of the party we would be OK.  It's time to let the democratic wing of the democratic party take charge.  When all the fingers on the hand work together it forms a mighty fist.

The story usually starts with hopeful promise of something different -- you know, the thing that's going to go rotten by the end.
Like 2010.
That was the year the Alabama Republican Party took control of the Alabama Legislature for the first time in 136 years. The mini Republican Revolution came with promises -- the Handshake with Alabama was supposed to be the state's own Contract with America.
At its core was ethics reforms that Goat Hill Democrats had rejected for years.
Among them was a ban on PAC-to-PAC transfers, which lobbyists and politicians had used to launder campaign money.
Wham! Promise delivered!
Also there were to be new restrictions on lawmakers doing business with those who do business with the state.
Zip! Done!
And finally, the Alabama Ethics Commission -- long a toothless tiger -- would finally have subpoena power to investigate corrupt public officials.
Ding! Dong!
The Witch?
Dead!
Here we are a quadrennium later, the Alabama Republican majority has proven that it is unquestionably superior to the all-but-extinct Alabama Democrats. The level of corruption Democrats took 136 years to achieve, the GOP has bested in just four years.

First, let's decode the code words, Democrats is code for the blacks. The media driven false narrative makes it socially acceptable to express the idea that black politicians are corrupt and inept and do not behave like adults.  So the party that tries to help the little guys and gals is corrupt, and the party that helps the rich get richer is not. What's up is down, what's down is up.  

And this time we can tell the pigs from the farmers, because the pigs are even worse.

Democrats can't afford to turn off African American Voters if they want to win in 2016

Key words:  If they want to win.  Sometimes EYE think Democrats don't won't to win because it will mean they have to address the institutional racism plaguing the African American community. Don't get me wrong, democrats talk a good game, but talk without actions is just talk.  Democrats like to talk about a rising tide lifting all boats, but if one end of the boat is full of holes the boat will sink faster than the Titanic.  

A glaring example of the democrats wanting the black vote, but not black voters is the Alabama Democratic Party's selection of an African American Independent turned Democratic, pro life, minister as the challenger to Mo "Anything short of shooting illegals" Brooks.  EYE guess they think African American voters vote for candidates based on the color of their skin or something. Why they thought this EYE have no idea, the Artur Davis experiment should have taught them something. You would think they would have learned by now African American Voters vote based on the content and character of the candidates agenda/platform/political philosophy.  But noooo,  They insist on believing we are stupid because we are well.... black.

There is a history of black communities voting Democrat — that is, when we are actually allowed to vote, as we were historically targeted for explicitly racist disenfranchisement in the 20th century and felon disenfranchisement in the 21st century. During the 20th century, the Democratic Party was well known for instituting anti-black policies in the South such as Jim Crow, poll taxes and literacy tests. Since then, the Democratic Party has shifted its image to racial indifference, while the Republican Party picked up its racially hostile characteristics.
Today black communities continue to be betrayed by both sides of the aisle in this toxic political system, which prioritizes exuberant campaign spending over protecting human rights. Both Ferguson and Baltimore saw uprisings in the face of police terror in the last year. And each city watched Democratic city and state politicians lead violent militarized occupation in response to protests, including the National Guard, tear gas, rubber bullets and riot police. The fact is that neither political party is “for black people,” but white liberal and moderate voters continually impose upon black communities the candidates they feel are most sympathetic to black experiences.

The only Democrat presidential candidate who is willing to address the stark reality facing the traditional democratic base (minorities, women, LBGT, labor) is Senator Bernie Sanders.  If the democratic nominee  fails to energize it's base , we might as well hand the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to President Trump/Huckabee/Cruz/Bush/Rubio/Carson/Jihndal/Kasich/Cason/Fiorina/Graham/Patakie/Christi/Perry/Paul/Santorum/Walker/Pataki

I'm a Tom Joad democrat, a prison reform democrat, an anti-poverty democrat and a pro-justice democrat - so the party left me a long time ago...and they never looked back as they went chasing after the fat checkbook crowd. The few indisputably good things the party has done, such as the war on poverty and support for the civil rights movement, recede into the distant past as a brave new world emerges in which we are left to wonder just what IS the difference between neocons and neolibs, and whether democrats bombing the world in an unending war orgy is any better than repubs doing the exact same thing.

Today's democrats are yesterday's republicans.

 Democrats (not all of them of course, but enough of them) enabled the Bush administration in some of the worst crimes against humanity in modern history: the illegal invasion of Iraq, the shameful atrocities at Abu Ghraib, Bagram, Guantanamo and elsewhere, kidnappings, torture, murders, assassinations, double-taps such as that shown in the Chelsea Manning video and on and on.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

My judgment is especially harsh for the Democratic Party because the whole world looked to them for justice and were denied. Justice is what we owed the world. JUSTICE!
The prospect of a Republican freak out is no excuse for Democrats not pursuing justice. We're always crowing about what a great nation we are – but we can't even manage to bring our own worst and most public in-your-face criminals to justice.

EYE said it once, and EYE say it again.  The Democratic party has been infiltrated by reactionary/New Dems/Blue Dogs/ Centrist/Conservadems/Moderates, and hell knows who/what else to promote neo liberal (aka conservative) ideas.

In addition to conservative infiltrators the democratic party has so called "moderates, centrist, center" who try and walk a thin line down the middle of the party. We don't know if they are pro choice or anti choice. We don't know if they are pro civil rights or anti civil rights. We don't know what the heck they stand for. They are in the middle whatever the heck that means. My daddy says the only thing down the middle of the road is a yellow line. Moderates are afraid to take a position one way or another because they don't know what side of the road they are on.

The definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again,  hoping for a different result.

We’re “absolutely unified on three essential messages going forward: It’s middle class, middle class, middle class,” said Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.), who had just surveyed 90 Democratic members about what they want to see in 2016. “Everybody agreed that it has to be about the middle.”

Who the heck is "Everybody" Rep. Steve Isreal, Sir?  Blue Dogs and New Dems who vote with the republicans and have no connection to the traditional democratic base?  The traditional democratic base they use to get elected, then throw under the bus?

 Davis panders to the right, who are wrong about everything, to the detriment of the, as he calls them,  democratic base(women,minorities,labor,public school teachers,civil rights leaders,African American political organizations). You know, the traditional democratic base that marched, bleed and died to change Alabama. The traditional democratic base that made it possible for him to be the sitting Congressman from the 7th district (which includes the black belt) of Alabama.

Enough.  It's time for real Democrats to stand their ground, and for those who don't support the Democratic platform 100% to go.  Those who believe a half an A$$ is better than no A$$ need to find another party.  Just because someone say's they are a democrat , doesn't mean they are democrat.

Real democrats are pro equal, civil, and human rights.  Real democrats support a woman's right to choose to have a safe legal abortion.  Real democrats support public education, public school teachers, and labor.  Real democrats support equal rights for LBGT citizens.  Real democrats are proud, unashamed, Birkenstock wearing, Hybrid car driving, tree hugging, anti war, anti poverty, card carrying, flag waving,  LIBERALS.

What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label "Liberal?" If by "Liberal" they mean, as they want people to believe, someone who is soft in his policies abroad, who is against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer's dollar, then the record of this party and its members demonstrate that we are not that kind of "Liberal." But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."

If you can't support all of the above, you are with them, and against us.

  Independents are really republicans who are ashamed to call themselves republicans.

I'm sick and tired of cowardly Dems.

The latest insult to our intelligence comes from Al.com's Charles Dean ,who, as commentator Fox says:  is either a knowledgeable muckraker who wrote this rice nonsense for clicks OR he is the dumbest individual to ever be published on this or any other website.

I vote for the later, because only a dumb individual, or someones who believes we are dumb would suggest Condoleeza Rice is a home-run hire  as the President of the University of Alabama while throwing her name out there for the following reasons:

She is an Alabama native - from Birmingham.
Translation:  She's black.

A university which once denied blacks the right to enroll, where George Wallace stood in the school house door to block black students from enrolling in 1963, would have hired its first African American president.
In a state that still struggles with race relations, that is still seen as a place where racial politics too often rule, Rice's hiring would be breathtaking.

She has been a professor and high-level administrator at Stanford, one of the nation's elite universities.

Again Fox Breaks it down:   If you want to understand how dishonest rice is, consider this: she was given and accepted tenure at Stanford and did not earn it.  That speaks volumes for her lack of character and integrity. People who had published and worked their entire careers in an effort to obtain tenure were passed over for rice who brought nothing in her career to merit the slightest consideration. NOTHING. Then as provost at Stanford she had the nerve to cause problems for the very faculty who had been passed over for tenure. I doubt you will be able to find a more divisive, disreputable, person than rice.

And then there was her time as Secretary of State and the National Security Advisor.

She is a Republican, an advantage when you turn to a Republican Congress and a Republican Legislature for federal and state dollars to benefit UA.

There's just one little problem with this meme, The President of the United States is a card carrying, Democrat who won twice and has a Veto Pin.  And is being a republican really something you want to brag about these days?

And, she is an avowed fan of Crimson Tide football. She even served on the first-ever national championship committee this fall, which put the first four teams in the first-ever national championship playoff. (Bama was one of the four, remember).

 Now, I know some of you Democrats out there are not happy right now. But there are so few of you that I am going to move on.

Translation:  Democrats don't matter.  Psst Mr. Dean, I've got news for you, Democrats attend, graduate, and work for the University of Alabama too.  And, I'm pretty sure there are lots of  Democrats on the football, basketball, baseball, and track teams.  Sir.

Everybody knows the media is not the voice of the voiceless, it's the voice of the corporations answerable to it's shareholders, and if there's one thing you can count on from our cable "news" hosts, it's that Republicans will never be called out for their false equivalencies and endless game of 'bothsiderism. Which is why cable and network news should be avoided by elected Democrats and candidates, and others who want to be informed instead of misinformed.

No one is surprised republicans are standing by Rep. Steve Scalise over revelations that the House's No. 3 Republican spoke to a white supremacist group 12 years ago.   After all,  this is how they have defined themselves.  This is who and what  they represent.  They are who and what we thought they were.

There are two things I reluctantly give republicans credit for, they are loyal and unified in support of their party.  They support their guys or gals no matter what.  You won't see republicans breaking rank, reaching across the aisle, calling for bipartianship and compromise.  No Sir.

So what does it say about Democrats and the corporate media's values when they won't call for the resignation of Steve Scalise ,but they called for the resignation of Anthony Weiner when someone hacked his Twitter account and leaked pictures of his male member?

There is more than a whiff of hypocrisy on both sides.
