"Protestors, Rioters, and Looters" code for Black folks exercising their 1st Amendment Rights in "My Country Tis of Thee"

It's dangerous and wrong to treat Ferguson MO as a warzone
As the world braces for the secret grand jury decision in #Ferguson, area police, homeland security, and the National Guard stand ready to rock and roll out their government issued, taxpayer funded, Weapons of Mass Destruction, on protestors  if  the grand jury decides not to indict  officer Darren Wilson , for the execution of #MikeBrown, in the middle of the street, for the crime of jaywalking/ talking back while black.

For some reason African Americans are supposed to accept the decision of the secret grand jury without question.
Even as verdict after verdict continues to excuse White authority figures of their wrongdoing, the Black community is expected to understand that police officers have a very hard job. The Black community is expected to understand that approximately 150 police officers are killed in the line of duty each year, the Black community is expected to understand that police officers are human too, the Black community is expected to understand that police officers are just doing their job and the Black community is expected to understand that even if a police officer is in the wrong, you are supposed to remain submissive and never talk back.
For some reason when African Americans peacefully assemble to voice their outrage, or, to plead for justice, it's called a riot.
During questioning, she referred multiple times to "riots" in Sanford after Trayvon Martin was killed. "I knew there was rioting, but I guess [the authorities] had it pretty well organized," she says at one point. In fact, despite a great deal of salivating anticipation by the media both before and after the trial, there were no riots in Sanford, Florida.
I believe the reason is rooted in what is known as Slave Codes ,  laws in each U.S. state, which defined the status of slaves and the rights of masters. These codes gave slave-owners absolute power over the enslaved.  For example, the Alabama Slavery Code of 1833 made it illegal for more than five male slaves, with or without passes, to assemble at any place off the proper plantation to which they belong, and if any slaves do assemble together, the same shall be deemed unlawful assembly.

Protestors are being warned by the Governor, a United States Senator, the local District Attorney,  and ironically,  the Klu Klux Klan, violence will not be tolerated (excuse me while I laugh out loud).

Terrified whites are arming themselves, prepared to protect their lives and property from the looters and rioters masquerading as peaceful protestors.   There's just one problem with this scenario, how are they going to differentiate the peaceful protestors from the looters and rioters when they all look alike?  It seems like they are preparing to put down a slave rebellion to me.

I HOPE and pray our government isn't allowed to treat peaceful protestors like "rioters and looters" again.

I HOPE and pray America lives up to it's promise of liberty and justice for ALL.

I HOPE and pray for justice, peace, and reconciliation in the Sweet land of liberty.

I also hope that people will protest in a LAWFUL manner. If they do not then police should use what they need to use in order to maintain the peace!! I also agree that anyone who is threatened by those that are angry have the right to protect themselves as well as their homes and property!

The above mentality is why Gov. Nixon has declared a state of emergency before the grand jury verdict is announced. It's called a pre prove strike.

I would call it being prepared just in case. You will cry either way just like the Hurricane Katrina incident. Many complained not enough was done.
If the police, Governor etc do not do enough you will complain. You and others will complain no matter what!!

You and others will also complain about the police as always. If these "PEACEFUL" protestors stay "PEACEFUL" I would think not many problems will exist but we saw how peaceful people stayed during the 1992 L.A. riots.Lets hope that peace will prevail NO MATTER THE OUTCOME!

P.S.S I do not think the Gov. declared a state of emergency because white people are prepared to defend themselves from becoming the next Reginald Denny. He did it because he saw the riots in L.A. in 1992 and what happened in Ferguson earlier in the year.

I will not complain no matter what, and not enough was done in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The only violence that happened in Ferguson earlier this year was done by the militarized police force against peaceful protestors.

Know Justice.
Know Peace.
No Justice.
No Peace.

The ONLY violence that happened in Ferguson earlier this year was done by the militarized police force against peaceful protestors?

So the convenience store that was looted and burned down was done so by the police?

All the other stores that were looted were done so by the police?

The police were ignoring orders by police and disturbing the peace?

The police were throwing rocks and bottles at the police?

The Ferguson Police Department used the burning down of one convenience store and some random looting to justify using Tear Gas and weapons of mass destruction peaceful protestors.

The people had a right to protest. The police did not have the right to tear gas them and arrest them for exercising their first amendment rights.

The majority of the people did not throw rocks and bottles at the police, but they were treated as if they had.

Yes the people have the right to protest, but not the right to break the law. Blocking traffic is disrupting the peace. And disrupting the peace is breaking the law.

What if the Ferguson Police Department had set up 1st Amendment Zones to restrict where people could express their 1st amendment rights like the Federal Government did during the Bundy Ranch situation?

Killing an unarmed teen is against the law.

FYI, It was determined the Ferguson Police Department violated the civil rights of protestors.

"A federal judge ruled Monday that a tactic police used to control protesters in Ferguson, Mo., is unconstitutional and issued a preliminary injunction halting the practice.

U.S. District Judge Catherine Perry in St. Louis ordered law enforcement agencies to stop enforcing a requirement that protesters keep moving rather than stand still."

And that was in regards to the Police having protestors keep moving on the sidewalk. Nothing to do with people blocking the street without a permit. Which is disturbing the peace. Which means the protestors are not peaceful at that point.

"Perry's order stops police "from enforcing or threatening to enforce any rule, policy or practice that grants law enforcement officers the authority or discretion to arrest, threaten to arrest or order to move individuals who are violating no statute or regulation and who are peaceably standing, marching or assembling on public sidewalks in Ferguson, Missouri.''"

Also please note that the Judge didn't give protestors free range to do whatever they want and police can still enforce the law.

"The judge cautioned, however, that police still can enforce Missouri's failure-to-disperse law and other laws to control crowds and protect people and property."

This is about Ferguson Police using weapons of mass destruction on peaceful protestors. There is no justification for that in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
