EYE understand why #GOPCongressCowards are skeered to face taxpayers

If EYE were a GOP Congress Critter EYE would be afraid to face my constituents too. Especially those scary democrats because EYE would have to admit the media enabled narrative was an #AlternativeFact

Contrary to misguided belief the majority of the American people don't hate ObamaCare more than they love themselves.  The majority of the American people like having access to quality affordable health insurance

The majority of the American people don't want to send them there illegals back to Mexico.  The majority of the American people aren't afraid of Muslims.  The majority of the American people don't care more about keeping women from choosing to have a safe legal abortion, keeping the gays from getting married and controlling what bathroom transgendered taxpayers use.

Now if the GOP had listened to the people instead of their media enablers they wouldn't be afraid to face the masses and we the peeps wouldn't be in this mess.

Speaking of the Tea Party-infused media enablers,  they have the nerve to whine because the creature they created has turned on them.  You know what they say, no good deed goes unpunished.

You are either with Donald Trump, or you're with America.

EYE believe Donald Trump is the republican nominee for President of the United States of America because good people sat back and did nothing when he offended women, Hispanics, African Americans, Muslims, even those with disabilities. EYE want to know how long are Americans of goodwill going to sit back and say nothing? Are Donald Trumps values America's values? Just remember, silence equals consent.

First they came for the......(fill in the blank).

Think about it.

The #PoorlyEducated People Have Spoken! Mission Accomplished #MainstreamMedia

"In one statement, Trump explains how he can promote the most vicious racism, misogyny, & bigotry—& win the GOP"

EYE sure do miss the good old days when the media informed the public and kept public officials from lying to us instead of enabling them.  Democracy demands an informed electorate.
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." (as cited in Padover, 1939, p. 89)
". . . whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government; that, whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them right." (as cited in Padover, 1939, p. 88)

Making America Great Again, one #poorlyeducated voter at a time.

According to P.P.P., 70 percent of Mr. Trump’s voters in South Carolina wish the Confederate battle flag were still flying on their statehouse grounds. (It was removed last summer less than a month after a mass shooting at a black church in Charleston.) The polling firm says that 38 percent of them wish the South had won the Civil War. Only a quarter of Mr. Rubio’s supporters share that wish, and even fewer of Mr. Kasich’s and Mr. Carson’s do. Nationally, the YouGov data show a similar trend: Nearly 20 percent of Mr. Trump’s voters disagreed with the freeing of slaves in Southern states after the Civil War. Only 5 percent of Mr. Rubio’s voters share this view.
Donald Trump expected to draw more than 10,000 at Huntsville Rally
State Rep. Ed Henry, R-Hartselle, who is working with the Trump campaign in Alabama and is also on the ballot Tuesday as a candidate to be a Trump delegate at the Republican National Convention, said he expected more than 10,000 people to be at the rally.
EYE understand the Fear in Sweet Home Alabama
This sort of racism has been prevalent in Republican politics for decades. Trump is just saying out loud what other Republicans merely suggest.
We have already established there are two kinds of republicans, millionaires/billionaires and Suckers. Suckers are the people the millionaires/billionaires convince to vote against their self interest.

Governor Bentley: We need to protect people of our state from them there refugees

suresh6.jpg
#PatelAlabama: Governor apologizes to the government of India for Alabama police treating one of their citizens like "a skinny black man"
Just in case you missed it, our Governor was interviewed on CNN this morning pontificating about his stand on the state line to keep Alabamans safe from them there Muslims, EYE mean, Syrian refugees.  He really didn't have a good reason to offer, so he named dropped that he was with Condolezza Rice yesterdaywho allegedly told him Syria should set up a refugee camp over there to contain them.

This is the same Condolezza Rice who was the National Security Advisor that gave pResident George W. Bush a daily briefing one month prior to the 9/11 attacks that said Osama determined to attack inside the U.S. and didn't know what that meant.  The same Condolezza Rice who was the Secretary of State before, during and after Hurricane Katrina.

Governor Bentley also name dropped the director of Homeland Security, and the FBI, both of which are federal agencies, as in the federal government, as in the federal government he plans to obstruct and defy in order to keep Alabamans safe from them there refugees.  The same federal government that is the largest employer in Sweet Home Alabama.

More Alabamians have died from guns, natural disasters, and because they don't have access to quality affordable health care than from Muslims, EYE mean, refugees.  But don't let a little thing like facts get in the way of bigotry in the name of The Lord.  Our Governor kept saying he was at war with his heart and his head, and his head was winning.  As someone who claims to be a Christian doesn't he realize baby Jesus and His parents were refugees?

EYE wish the citizens of Alabama had somewhere to run.

To make the irony more explicit, Bentley will be joined at the conference with the Japanese by Martin Luther King III. An Alabama Governor is meeting with the Japanese – a population that America once forcibly detained for fear of the color of their skin – and is accompanied by the son of a man who Alabama once detained for fear of the color of his skin. The only thing that could make it more ironic would be if they convened in Huntsville, a city that prospered as the result of Alabama welcoming German scientists in the wake of World War II.

Free Your Mind Friday

This is what democracy looks like? “Bloomberg pays his hypocritical respects to democracy and reason, when in fact his authority is nothing but an extension of the rule of capital.”H/T Black Agenda Report

The Rude Pundit says (edited)This is not your Effing Movement; This Is Our Effing Movement: Long Live the Occupation (With or Without Occupying) Updated:
The b#@%ards may have taken down Oakland, Portland, New York City, and other occupations in what is increasingly clear was a coordinated attack on the movement by city halls and, perhaps, really, the Department of Homeland Security. But f#@k them. There's still many, many OWS protests around the nation, sea to shining motherf#@kin' sea.

Showdown in Philly, PA Trade Unions give Occupy Philly An Offer It Can't Refuse
With a $55 million construction contract “imminent” for Dilworth Plaza -- home since early October for Occupy Philadelphia – the city trade unions and those in Occupy Philly determined to hold-out in the Plaza have arrived at a showdown.

White, Mormon, male, gop, Presidential candidates~Good. African American, Muslim, I mean Christian, democratic candidate~Bad.

Unintended Consequences My Donkey! This is what happens when the High (sic) Court Strikes down the gun ban in the District of Colombia.
Even firing into an president-less White House is intended to send a message. It doesn't matter whether the president was around to bear witness to it or not. I'll count this as an attempted assassination.

I'm telling y'all....protest is the NEW BLACK! 13 in Alabama Jail Over Immigration Law Battle.
In Alabama, people are speaking out against the state’s controversial immigration law, H.B. 56. The legislation is considered the toughest in the nation in targeting illegal immigrants. It requires that law enforcement check the immigration status of persons thought to be in the country illegally. Basically, it’s your standard racially profiling law targeting brown people, migrants, and those that are probably a little too fluent in the Spanish language. ::sigh::

Get your Satire On!
How's that Grope and Change working out for you? In three short years this country has gone from Hope and Change to Grope and Change. Ain't life odd?

Will the real republican candidate please stand up? The search for a legitimate Republican presidential candidate has turned into a mockery; instead of talking about working together to fix legitimate issues, the election process is being used as a marketing technique for those to get their name out there to sell books and increase their speaking fees.

Meanwhile Politico investigates why Obama Hates America.
We must laugh to keep from crying.

Ask the Republicans in Congress, "Where are the jobs?" Ask the ADP, "Where are the candidates?" h/t piggieheart for the best comment of the day, week, month, year, decade, and the century.

Redeye's Reading List

POTUS has some splainning to do tonight. Not just to the TeaPublican Haters, but to those who thought he was the anti war President.

In the case of Libya, Farrakhan openly asks President Barack Obama why he and his administration are suddenly concerned with alleged atrocities in this country while the U.S. government looked the other way a few years ago, when the Israelis were engaged in relentless bombing of Palestinians, many of them women and children.

Farrakhan also noted that the U.S. government showed no interest in becoming involved when numerous human rights violations were occurring in Rwanda and the Congo. He argued that the U.S. government's goal has been to spend funds arming dissidents in Libya who do not want to see Gadhafi in power.

In an even more telling fashion, Farrakhan noted similarities between Gadhafi and President Obama: He mentioned that similar to Gadhafi, there are millions of Americans who don't want to see Obama in power, and that intervening with internal dissent in Libya would be no different from someone doing the same here in the United States.

Farrakhan asks the president, "Who in the hell do you think you are that you can talk to a man that built a country over 42 years and ask him to step down and get out? Can anybody ask you ... to step out of the White House 'cause they don't want no black face in the White House?"

I'm just saying....

Meet the TeaPublicans' version of Barack Obama. Try not to laugh out loud if you are at work or church.

I wonder how close to zero percent of the Muslim vote the eventual TeaPublican nominee will get in 2012 too. Snicker

TeaPublican motto: If you can't beat em at the ballot box, supress em at the ballot box. And we know who "em" IS. Nod, nod, wink, wink.

It's not wise for University Professors to tell the truth about the gop gooberners. Ask Legal Schnauzer.

An Open Letter to President Obama

Sharing an insightful open letter To President Obama from one of my young friends. Young voters like this writer are the reason President Obama won in 2008. They voted with HOPE for CHANGE they could believe in. Mr. Obama would be wise to listen and not let them down if he wants to win again in 2012.~Redeye

Dear Mr. President,

I have to give you credit for going yet again into the snake pit and attempting to have an intelligent conversation with an individual who doesn't understand the concept of gravity, lunar orbit, the tides, basic astronomy, or much of anything for that matter. He is one of the more sane "journalists" if we use Glenn Beck as the gauge of sanity. You truly have the patience of Job trying to be diplomatic with people who day and night gin up insane theories about you inciting the Egyptian revolt and installing the new leader along with the communists and the Muslim brotherhood, as if somehow you and the justice department can look in the crystal ball and know who will follow in Mubarak's footsteps. Every time you tried to explain those pesky things like facts, Billo wanted to take us back to land of make believe. It's almost as if Billo was suffering from ADHD from the fidgeting and shuffling, and the easy distractions. You would think the man was on coke. But coke would help a person with ADHD right? O’Reilly is vulgar, immature, and mentally disordered suffering from the mental fidgets. I swear his attention span only lasts no longer than 8 seconds. You just sat there with a smile on your face in amusement, if I could take a stroll in your mind...

I know that you are beginning your re election campaign and you have to get the paranoid fools that watch cluster fox back on the Obama express, but dude, they still think you are a Muslim hell bent on destroying America. Sarah Palin is still yapping her nonsense that you aren't handling Egypt properly and that the American people are calling the White House at 3am and they are getting the answering machine. She doesn't realize that we can't interfere in a sovereign countries revolt or the installation of their leader. Unless we want to get him killed or wage the region in further upheaval. But, she would have to have some knowledge of history, especially Middle Eastern history. Since she is such a Reagan lover, she would remember how he wanted to have peace and disarmament with the Soviet Union. This is person who thinks the soviets won the space race, so I don't expect too much...

If there could be a photo for propaganda in the dictionary, the Fox logo would be there in bold print. Apparently you, the Communists and the Muslim Brotherhood are setting up a Caliphate in the seat of evil in ancient Babylon. I hate that you didn't take Mr. Fair and Balanced to task for blatant lies, but I understand why you didn't. Billo's style is always ask ques. that seem neutral on it's face, but the ques. are loaded and in partisan code. If you aren't thrown by the ques. and start to give credible lucid, sane answers, he starts to try to throw off your flow with "yeah, yeah, I understand all that, all right, all right..." Kind of stupid to try that on a lawyer used to cross examining... I can see how if you are in the room with him or not a quick thinker this can be quite intimidating. Remaining calm, firm, and not letting him overpower you in your answers, which is clearly what you did is the best way to handle a bully like Billo the clown. The calmer you are, the angrier he gets and the dumber he sounds, which gives cluster fox the red meat fact less info. the viewers thrive on.

Will you get independents and tea baggers that watch fox to come back to reservation? I don't know...You have so much ignorance to counter act and so much of it launched from fox. You were diplomatic and as usual you extended the olive branch to a bunch of morons who understand nothing who are set about your destruction. We can only hope the misinformation stops if only people would read and stop getting info from Bachmann, Beck, Palin and Gingrich. Billo has claimed that this interview is the most watched in the history of the world...since he takes so much credence in the Bible, how could he possibly know what was the most watched in the history of the world or the amount of the population at any period of time for this to be the highest watched in the history of the world, ever. Bill later read some of his emails as is his custom, and one of his viewers complained that Bill was shilling for Obama, painting him as a moderate and giving him free advertising..HA HA. See, Bill inserted that email to justify his non-ideological spin because he knows how to play the game too. Bill responded with his patented answer that "The Factor Is not and never has been, an ideological program." "I ask the President questions, he responds and you decide. I don't engineer anything. No...He doesn't engineer anything. "Tiller the baby killer". "I'm going to let you go", "Pinhead or Patriot". Yeah...I see his point, it's not ideological.

Never forget Mr. President, The Gop/ Tea Baggers/ Fox/ Birch society/ Beck watchers see a witch in every tree and a communist/ Muslim everywhere (they don't know the difference), but you are the head of the communist / Muslims. They want you gone no matter what you do, no matter how great the economy is, even if you single handed cure cancer, aids, fix the environment, you will never be good enough. You will always be "radical and a socialist" which is absolutely absurd...Even though renewal of the patriot act is coming up, I bet money it will be extended from the people who are so afraid of our rights being taken away. You need to get the folks that's on board who doesn't drink grain alcohol out of a mason jar and doesn't worry about an imaginary "seat of evil" in Babylon and the caliphates, leave them behind. Let them go back to their world. Try not to give fox anymore credibility, this station is packed full of loons, fools, psycho's and pathological liars. It has more comedic value than comedy central. Just remember what you are dealing with every night, and try to break the hypnotic spell of propaganda idiocy that is fox news.

What color is the Terror Alert?

How come we don't have those color coded Terror Alerts anymore?

The system was created by Homeland Security Presidential Directive 3 on March 11, 2002, in response to the September 11 attacks. It was meant to provide a "comprehensive and effective means to disseminate information regarding the risk of terrorist acts to Federal, State, and local authorities and to the American people." It was unveiled March 12, 2002, by Tom Ridge, then the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security. However, responsibility for developing, implementing and managing the system was given to the U.S. Attorney General.

In January 2003, the new Department of Homeland Security (DHS) began administering the system. The decision to publicly announce threat conditions is made by the Secretary of Homeland Security in consultation with the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security, according to Homeland Security Presidential Directive-5.[1]

Remember how after 911 everyone was all ginned up to go to war to fight them over there so we wouldn't have to fight them over here?

Remember how all Muslims were being lumped into the same category as the 911 hijackers?
Folks must call the Arizona shootings exactly what they are; acts of terrorism. Whether the shooter is white, black, or brown equal scrutiny should be given to a person who commits crimes of this nature. A person’s religion and the length of his name should not determine how the crime is reported. A terrorist is a terrorist. Because many allow the media to shape their thoughts and drive the conversation, the media helps facilitate racial flames at its leisure. The political pundits are carefully picked for their skills at stroking the audiences depending on what outlet you watch. Dumb pundits are chosen to play down a point and hateful pundits are picked to create more intolerance. They play us like puppets

Sarah Palin and her media enablers say don't blame them, blame the mentally ill among us.
The shootings in Tucson should be of concern to everyone. There are millions of people who already feel aggrieved and angry and they have now been incited by right wing invective calling for “Second Amendment remedies.”

The same mentally ill who need access to quality affordable health care which the gop infused, media enabled Tea Party vows to repeal.

Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), the incoming chair of the Energy and Commerce Committee, whetted conservative appetites early in the year when he pledged not only to push for repeal of the president's health care reform law, but also suggested that the votes would be there to override a veto in the House.

Now republicans want strict gun control and to erect a Plexiglas shield around Congress as Joe Wilson "you lie" slogan is etched onto line of Assault Rifles.

So, is the Terra Lert red, orange, green, yellow, blue? Should we run or run and hide? Should we get out our Duct Taped and Bottled Water?

Are we safe yet?

Redeye's Tuesday Must Reads Local/ State/National

If you can't dazzle them with brilliance then baffle them with bull$%#t Mo,
I favor "good" earmarks. I oppose "bad" earmarks. It really is both that simple and that complex. It is a matter of judgment as to which earmarks are appropriate and which are inappropriate (using proper federal government function and cost/benefit analysis tests).
I have a few question for Commissioner Mo Brooks(r.Tea Party); Do you or don't you believe residents who live in North Huntsville have a lower IQ than residents that live in South Huntsville? And, do you believe "project kids" should not be allowed to attend south Huntsville schools because they will lower standardized test scores? And, is it or is it not true you will not be attending a debate sponsored by the local chapter of the NAACP at the Richard Showers Center with your democratic opponent Steve Raby? If elected are you only going to represent the intelligent residents of south Huntsville and oppose ignorant residents of north Huntsville?

The baffling blundering bull$%#t just keeps on coming from the gop candidates.....Huh?
In discussing the issue of transportation in and around Birmingham, Bentley said he would not support light rail for the metro area. That's fine. Reasonable arguments can be made on either side of that issue. But he went on to say: "If light rail brought people into the city, well there is nobody in the city downtown, there's not a lot going on down there, and it's not necessarily right now the wisest use of our dollars."
"Conservative Principles" are like knives. Stupid people shouldn't flash them around. H/T revbob

Ian MacIsaac: Americans don't learn lessons: The Moral failures of conservative leaders and the intellectual failures of average Americans
Barack Obama is not like you. He’s not normal. We’re not exactly sure what it is about him, but something just isn’t right.

God, you’ve been hearing that a lot, haven’t you? The above quotes are just a sample of the nonsense spread over the past month or two about the president. Maybe it was all inspired by this Ground Zero mosque hubbub, but there seems to be a pretty consistent and united effort on the part of conservative talking heads nowadays to paint Obama as both (a) foreign and (b) untrustworthy. There was a lot of this before the election, but at least within my sphere of news it had steadily declined after he’d actually taken office, and people began to get interested in real issues again….
The Undisputed Truth tells us what we've learned about the Tea Party.
We have learned that they may dislike Dems, but they hate Republicans. They hate Republicans until they win I guess and then they are waiting in line for the hand-outs and infomercials they get to do on FOX. We have learned that these folks were the crazy cousins hiding in the attic of the Republican Party. We have learned that these folks are the reincarnation of the “Know Nothings, the Moral Majority, and the Christian Coalition. We have learned that they really aren’t independent nor or they grassroots
Guest Post: Reform School Versus School Reform (Rant)
I have taught off and on for the last decade, and prior to that I was a student in this once great education system. Contrary to former President Ronald Reagan's "A Nation At Risk" report, education was better in the 1980s and 1990s. I have vivid memories of projects, arts and crafts, books we read, dioramas we made and the California Achievement test we all took that was nationally normed.

There was 4H, shop, career explorations and computer class ... sans test. We still had to take state tests, but this did not stop teachers from giving us skills we could use in real life. (I.E. writing in cursive, all of our math facts, daily physical exercise, fine arts, music, etc.) We had at least one thirty minute recess per day. It was awesome, rigorous, and to be honest, I never recall having what some now call "bad teachers."
Charter Schools and Waiting for Superman
“The message of the film is that public schools are failing because of bad teachers and their unions. The film's "solution," to the minimal extent it suggests one, is to replace them with "great" charter schools and teachers who have less power over their schools and classrooms.
This message is not just wrong. In the current political climate, it's toxic.”
This film tells a moving story about problems and injustice in public schools but it blames the problems of schools on teachers unions. Why is that ? We should ask why the film focuses on teachers’ unions and not on poverty, race, school bureaucracies, or the foundations of the rich who support these initiatives.

Somethings rotten about "Waiting for Superman"
Something smells here. And it isn't the fresh, crisp, fall scent of number two Ticonderoga's.

Professional educators are going to take a major hit in the coming months and the Billionaire Boys Club, who are out to privatize our public schools by creating their own charter school networks, couldn't be happier.

The promotion of the movie Waiting for Superman has been nothing less than phenomenal for an education documentary. Oprah aired two shows about it, all pie and sunshine. Don't be fooled by the hype. This is just another in a series of hoaxes perpetrated on the American public by the very wealthy. We have something they want -- the minds of our children!
From Big Easy to Big Empty
Following the first broadcast of this film a criminal complaint was filed against producer Matt Pascarella and reporter Greg Palast by the Department of Homeland Security. The charge, filming “critical infrastructure” was dropped.
Maybe DHS was annoyed because From Big Easy to Big Empty, filmed a year after Hurricane Katrina, is critical of infrastructure, specifically Innovative Emergency Management of Baton Rouge which was paid a half-million dollars in 2004 to deliver a emergency preparedness and evacuation plan of New Orleans–only no one could find the plan when it was needed–that’s pretty innovative; and of FEMA itself which at the time of the filming, in 2006, had displaced 73,000 residents into trailer parks. Palast interviews a resident who explains that there is only one bus out of the ironically named, barb-wired ringed Camp Renaissance, and it only goes to the Wal-Mart.
Reading is fundamental! Happy reading!

Free Your Mind Friday

Listen up! All that is standing between Speaker John Boehner and the impeachment of Barack Obama for his birth certificate or some other nonsense is Y-O-U! This is the party who impeached President Clinton for trying conceal a private sexual affair, sent our troops to war based on dead wrong intelligence, and raided the surplus to give the rich a tax break remember? Are we really going to let them have the keys to car so they can run the country into the ditch like drunk frat boys again?

The gop is good at winning elections with people they can fool all the time. Thanks to the MSM we have, the gop has convinced a lot of people they shouldn't have access to health care because President Obama is a Muslim who was born in Kenya. America doesn't want any one non white to occupy the White House, because all Muslims are bad and we need to bring back Slavery.

Has anyone but me noticed the politicians who talk about repealing ObamaCare have ObamaCare? And would someone please remind the re publican's that tax cuts for the rich and spending BILLIONS on all war all the time is what got us into this mess?

This week in Alabama Politics
Just like Secretary Tom Vilseck fell for the false "reverse racism" charge against Shirley Sherrod, John Archibald, The Birmingham News, leaning Left in Alabama, James Lassiter of the JeffCo New South Coalition, and three members of the SCLC painted Nikki Still as the poster girl of white victim hood, predicting the certain demise of the Democratic party as a result.

John Archibald said; Go ahead, Joe Reed. Just kick Martin Luther King's legacy right in the teeth. Go on. Remind us why Alabama's Democratic Party has less to fear from Republicans than from, say, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.

The Birmingham News editorial board said; When Jefferson County Democrats went to the polls earlier this year, Nikki Still wasn't their first choice for one of the judge slots on the Circuit Court. But she was their second choice.
That made her the most logical replacement after the winner lost her law license and had to be removed from the ballot. But that assumes the Alabama Democratic Party has any interest in being logical. Clearly, that's not a high priority for party leaders who often seem determined to torpedo their own ship.

James Lassiter on behalf of the JeffCo NSC said; Setting a precedent for bypassing the democratic process when it is convenient for accommodating race, ethnicity or national origin is a dangerous practice, and will do more to harm the Democratic Party than anyone could possibly imagine. This move to appoint French, and ignore the 45% of voters who support Judge Still because she is white, not only tears into the fabric of our democracy, but also destroys a people's faith in the political process.

mooncat said;
I'm just a white person, but I know some of the rhetoric I heard at that meeting on Thursday left me deeply disturbed. If a Republican had been saying those things we would have been so all over them for racism, favoritism and so forth. You can see some key portions of the meeting in the video below the fold, and make up your own mind about whether we've come full circle to the point where we aren't concerned with equal justice, but with making sure we're the ones on top.

See a pattern? Notice how quick they are to point at the perceived racism against Nikki Still but totally dismiss the possibility Kenya Lavender Marshall could be the victim of racism? It's not like there is a documented history of black folks being the victims of racism or anything. Yes, that was a snark.

I am eternally grateful to the Legal Schnauzer for his willingness to look inside the spin, his courageous writing and his defense of Kenya Lavender Marshall, the REAL VICTIM of racism.
A Legal Schnauzer investigation, however, indicates the New South Coalition and the SCLC are looking in the wrong place for racism. Our research on a case from the 1990s indicates it was the Alabama State Bar, not ADEC, that probably was acting with race-based motives.

What about THAT John Archibald, The Birmingham News Editorial Board and leaning Left in Alabama? There are two sides to every story, you chose to take Nikki Still's side and ignore Kenya Lavender Marshall's side. There are some who say you based this decision soley on race and used this as an opportunity to publicly bash Joe Reed because he has guts.

The Alabama Democratic Executive Committee probably sensed that a black female candidate, who had been heavily favored by voters, was treated unfairly. The committee decided, we suspect, that the fair and right thing to do was to replace her with a black female candidate--one who was equally qualified to the white candidate. That, in our view, is not racism; it's a logical reaction to racism.

Meanwhile under the radar, the Justice Department is investigating Riley's non payment of legislative legal bill.
Holmes filed the complaint after Gov. Bob Riley and the state Finance Department refused to pay a $73,000 legal bill for a law firm hired by the Legislature in the controversial Paragon Source no-bid computer contract. "I'm alleging they paid white lawyers and refused to pay these black lawyers," said Holmes.

So, who is really practicing racism here?

Have a peaceful weekend.

"Now the terrorist have truly won".

I might as well start the week off with righteous Redeye rant and get a lot of things off my chest that are bothering the heck out of me.

I am sick and tired of the Obama is a Muslim bigotry. Yes I said bigotry. Let's stop pussy footing around and call it what it IS. 1 in 5 Americans believe President Obama is a Muslim. Frankly, I am surprised by the number of bigots in America in 2010. I thought America had moved past religious, racial, and gender intolerance with the election of America's first African American President. Big RedEYE roll.

America was founded on the principle of religous freedom and Christianity. The same Christianity that landed on the necks of Native Americans and enslaved Africans. The same Christianity that prosecuted women for "withcraft". The same Christianity of night riders and cross burners. But I digress.

Barack Obama very well may be a Muslim, but you know what....if he is a Muslim I DON'T Care. Muslims have done a lot of good/bad things just like Christians have done a lot of good/bad things. One of the good things Muslims have done is clean up the black community. Personally i would feel safer in a Muslim community than a right wing Christian community. I would advise those who have bought into the fear factor that all Muslims are terrorist do a little research on the religion. And for the record, Rep. Keith Ellison (D MN) is a Muslim and is currently serving in the United States Congress. Muslims are not prohibited from holding elected office in America.

Question: If President Obama is a Muslim WHY would he try and hide it? He took the oath of office on the Lincoln Bible, not the Koran. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church for over 20 years. He was married in Trinity and his daughters were baptized at Trinity. Think about it.

I want to get past this issue and focus on the real issues facing real Americans. The gop, enabled by the media, want President Obama and the principles of America to fail. The principles of tolerance, honesty, integrity, freedom, liberty and justice. Why do they want President Obama and the principles of America to fail? Because President Obama is an African American man.

Muslim is the new black.

YouTube video portrays the views of 61% of the American population that are still living in the 19th century, are bigoted, racist and completely not a true representation of a democracy. This is the worst explaination to be given to those nations that were force converted into democracies. This is a shame for New York City. I would never have thought NYC would fall this low. Now the terrorists have truly won.

Amen and Amen.

Freedom isn't Free, Shock and Awe, Shock and Shame

Major combat operations are officially over in Iraq and the majority of our troops are coming home. But we still have over 50,000 troops in Iraq and President Obama just sent more troops to Afghanistan. IMHO the W-ar on freedom just changed locations. Our sons and daughters are still in harms way on foreign soil. Billions/Trillions of tax dollars are being spent and for what noble cause? Anybody know? How many more of our sons and daughters have to die on foreign soil? How much more of our tax dollars are going to be spent on all war all the time? What's the strategy? What's the end game? When are the American people going to say enough is enough? I'm just asking...

Note there is nary a peep out of the right wing about our troops coming home from Iraq today.
For us on the left, today is a day to celebrate the start of the end of this war. For the right, it’s a sad day in which their favorite national pastime is coming to an end.

Yep the right loves some all war all the time and they don't mind spending money bombing people, but they have a real problem with feeding hungry people in the United States of America. Go figure.
National priorities are determined by the manner in which a nation allocates its limited resources; how and where it spends its money. At the end of July Congress passed a $33 billion supplemental war bill for President Obama's troop surge in Afghanistan. This past Tuesday the president signed a multi billion-dollar bailout bill for cash-strapped states but cut $12 billion from future food stamp funding to help pay for it. Proponents of this measure argue that using food stamp funding in order to save public sector jobs such as teachers, police officers, and firefighters at the state level is a valid trade-off.

Meanwhile in the land of the free and the home of the brave, the number of Americans who believe Obama is a Muslim has doubled. I wonder why? It's not like the media hasn't done everything it could to set the record straight. *Snark* Do ya think the media made Mosque controversy has something to do with the numbers?
Given that white Christian supremacist Tim McVeigh bombed the Oklahoma City Federal Building, shouldn't we ban white churches from Oklahoma?

As New York City's indigenous Lanape Natives died at Ground Zero by the thousands when overrun by Christian colonists, shouldn't we ban Christian churches from their sacred ground?

If a mosque near Ground Zero is bad, then why not ban all Muslims from downtown New York? For this to work, should we require all Muslims in the city to wear yellow crescents?

And thanks to The Supreme Court ruling that corporations have the same rights as people Faux News Came Out of the Closet. I thought Faux News was fair and balanced? If they were fair and balanced they would donate $1 Million to the Democratic Governors Association.

Mission Accomplished. Freedom isn't Free. It's shocking and awful.
