Psst! Compassionate Christian Conservatives... How is that deal with the #Devil working out for you now?

Is America Great Again yet?

How Can Any Christian Support Trump? Here are five reasons why Trump is the opposite of a Christian.  Special thanks to Cindi Brady.  Shared by Occupy Democrats,

Trump Can't Revese the Decline of White Chrisitan America

One of the most perplexing features of the 2016 election was the high level of support Donald Trump received from white evangelical Protestants. How did a group that once proudly identified itself as “values voters” come to support a candidate who had been married three times, cursed from the campaign stump, owned casinos, appeared on the cover of Playboy Magazine, and most remarkably, was caught on tape bragging in the most graphic terms about habitually grabbing women’s genitals without their permission?
EYE am just saying...there is more than a whiff of hypocrisy.

No...Compasssionate, Conservative, Christians aren't violent, they are #Hypocrites

Ku Klux Klan members at a cross burning in 2005

So, the Conservative, Compassionate, Christian, Crowd have their knickers in a knot because President Obama told the truth and shamed the Devil at the National Prayer Breakfast last week.  The faux outrage is proof Americans are afraid to have an honest discussion about history.
“Humanity has been grappling with these questions throughout human history,” Obama said in his speech at the Washington Hilton. “And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ. In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”

Hmm.....I wonder where did  President Obama learn his moral equivalency garbage?  It's not like Christians don't sin in the name of The Lord Snark

That's right (pun intended), President Obama learned his moral equivalency garbage from Reverend Jeremiah Wright.  You know,  his former pastor republicans, enabled by the media, forced him to reject, renounce, and repudiate for preaching the word.
“There is a tendency in us, a sinful tendency that can pervert and distort our faith.   In today’s world, when hate groups have their own Twitter accounts and bigotry can fester in hidden places in cyberspace, it can be even harder to counteract such intolerance. But God compels us to try.  And in this mission, I believe there are a few principles that can guide us, particularly those of us who profess to believe.”
" Obama made a speech that was full of the kind of humility that, you know, the Bible asks of people."

There is more than a whiff of hypocrisy.

The Shirley Sherroding of Robert Bentley

Here we go again.

You know the drill.

Take a snippet of someones remarks out of context and spin them like top so people will focus on who said instead of what was said.

Poor Governor Dr. Bentley is the latest victim of the Shirley Sherrod treatment. I will admit to jumping on the bandwagon before I went inside David White's story. The Shirley Sherroding starts with his lead (emphasis mine);
APGov.-elect Robert Bentley
MONTGOMERY -- Gov.-elect Robert Bentley in a speech at a Baptist church this afternoon said he plans to be the governor of all Alabamians and be color-blind, but he also said people who aren't ''saved" Christians aren't his brothers and sisters.

For those who don't know the lead, or the first paragraph of a news article is supposed to contain just the FACTS, also known as the 5 W's, who, what, where, where, and why. This is called context and allows readers to form opinions based on facts and not the writers opinion(s).

As an African American democrat I choose to focus on these words from Governor Bentley (emphasis mine);
Bentley told a big crowd at Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, where the late civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. once was pastor, that he believed it was important for Alabamians ''that we love and care for each other."

''I was elected as a Republican candidate. But once I became governor ... I became the governor of all the people. I intend to live up to that. I am color blind," Bentley said in a short speech given about an hour after he took the oath of office as governor.

The fact he attended an event at Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church says a lot to me about his character. As a Christian I can appreciate these words from the governor(emphasis mine).

"There may be some people here today who do not have living within them the Holy Spirit," Bentley said. ''But if you have been adopted in God's family like I have, and like you have if you're a Christian and if you're saved, and the Holy Spirit lives within you just like the Holy Spirit lives within me, then you know what that makes? It makes you and me brothers. And it makes you and me brother and sister."

Here is where the Shirley Sherroding begins (emphasis mine);
Bentley added, ''Now I will have to say that, if we don't have the same daddy, we're not brothers and sisters. So anybody here today who has not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, I'm telling you, you're not my brother and you're not my sister, and I want to be your brother."

Is Bentley saying he doesn't want to be the governor of non Christians? No, he's saying I want to be your brother. In the spirit of brotherly love he is reaching out to all the citizens of Alabama. Did Bentley get carried away by emotion? Yes. But he was in a historic Baptist church full of God fearing people. Did he mean any harm? No. Was he trying to bring us together? Yes.
Asked later if he meant to be insulting to people of other faiths, Bentley replied, ''We're not trying to insult anybody."

Bentley's communications director, Rebekah Caldwell Mason, when asked about Bentley's comments said, ''He is the governor of all the people, Christians, non-Christians alike."

Bentley in his speech also told the crowd, which was celebrating King's birthday, that, ''I think that Dr. Martin Luther King was one of the greatest men that has ever lived."

''I appreciate what he has done for not only the African-American community but for the white community, because he helped everything to change, even though he had to give his life for it," Bentley said.

Bentley then said he would work to help Alabamians whether they live in Wilcox County, where many poor blacks live, or Mountain Brook, where many upper-income whites live.

''You know, (for) a lot of people, it's hard to trust a Republican governor," Bentley said. ''Let me tell you. I want to tell you today that I promise you that I'm going to do everything I can for everybody in this state."

I have it on good authority Governor Bentley is really a good guy, just a member of the wrong party. I choose to focus on everything he said and not a snippet of what he said. I'm not going to call him Governor Hunt or Judge Roy Moore. Yet. I'm going to give him a chance to practice what he preaches and be the Governor of ALL of us, regardless of race, religion, gender, address or party.

Well, there's a certain mean spiritness that's out there, not only in Alabama but it's in America. And that makes this election extremely important." ~Alabama State Senator Hank Sanders

Redeye's Week in Review~edited

If you are not a millionaire you shouldn't be a republican.
Isn't it funny how the republican status quo is using the poor to wage a war against the middle class and to get out of paying their fair share of taxes? There are some republicans who argue the poor should pay the same if not more taxes than the rich, and to ask the rich to pay their fair share is "punishing them for being successful" and, that tax cuts for the rich increase revenues and create jobs. Uh, if that were true the Bush tax cut for the rich wouldn't have resulted in a multi trillion deficit and 22 million jobs lost.

It's getting to the point where it's hard to shovel the gop hypocrisy.
Republicans are pro life and pro war.
They are pro life and anti welfare.
They are pro life and anti public education
They are pro life and pro death penalty.
They are anti government but want to tell you how to live, how to die, who to marry, who you can have sex with, and who to worship.

The ALA GOP is up in arms because the democratic candidate for Attorney General quipped how can anyone be a Christian and a republican. I guess the same way they can not be rich and be a republican. Either they don't know the rich are getting richer and the rest are getting the shaft or they don't care. I don't know which is worse.

The war against public education and public school teachers escalated this week with a full court press in the media.
We are seeing a concerted and organized effort to make the new film "Waiting for Superman" the means of defining the discussion on education. When combined with the corporate sponsorship and interconnections with NBC's Education Nation effort, it is perhaps worthwhile to examine some of the interconnections which are tying all this together.

Let the media tell it, public schools for all should be replaced with charter schools for a few. Public school teachers/unions and tenure laws are the reason public schools are failing. The National Education Association says they don't make the state and federal budgets and that charter schools aren't the cure all, as a matter of fact they are the problem.
Despite the heavy promotion of charter schools in Waiting For Superman, research shows that they are no panacea. (Read the full statement of NEA President Dennis Van Roekel on the movie.) Improving lower-performing schools does not require a silver bullet, but a multi-faceted approach that involves teachers, support staff, administrators, parents, and community members. This holistic approach has yielded results in places like Putnam City West High School in Oklahoma City, where educators have engaged parents and the community to boost the graduation rate of Hispanic students by 70 percent; and Denver, where the teacher-led Math and Science Leadership Academy is taking a collaborative approach that focuses on mentoring and professional development to boost student achievement; and in Las Vegas, where a teacher empowerment program has led to remarkable gains, including at Culley Elementary School, a “high achieving” school where only five years ago, less than a quarter of students were at grade level.

The media is ignoring the elephant (pun intended) in the room. Charter schools' growth promoting segregation.
"We don't want the Race to the Top to become a race to the past," said Gary Orfield, co-director of the Civil Rights Project, alluding to the era of enforced segregation.

Of course if they really wanted to fix the economy they would invest in public education instead of bashing public education.
Last week, the Republicans released their so-called “Pledge to America.” This pledge contained more glossy photos than policy proposals, much like $290,900 taxpayer funded mailers my opponent, Congressman Lance, sent out in August. Their entire promise to America is that they will systematically undo what Democrats have done in Congress during the past two years. No new ideas, no proposals to actually help the millions of Americans struggling everyday.

In America being a macho man and a professional homophobe is big business,
In America being a macho man and a professional homophobe is big business, one that jeopardizes the lives and mental health and wellness of thousands of gays and lesbians. Regardless of whether the allegations against Long are true or not, his prosperity gospel of gay-bashing and robber baron profiteering at the expense of poor black people is another indictment of the moral injustice that happens on "God's" watch.

Is there a Psychiatrist in the House?
The more I read the latest of Glen Beck and Teabagger's insane babblings and what they are about the more I think that they might need to see a good head shrink. And to think they represent those on the right's values and ideals. Scary! Or are Americans that stressed out that they are just not thinking straight these days.

Under the radar, California just took a huge step in ending the drug wars.
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) Thursday signed into law a bill that decriminalizes the possession of up to one ounce of marijuana. The bill reduces simple possession from a misdemeanor to an infraction.

Rham Emmanuel is out Pete Rouse is in as Chief of Staff to President Obama. Let's HOPE it's some change we can believe in. Will Press Secretary Robert Gibbs be next? God I hope so.

Have a great weekend!

It's a Good Friday.

The entire redemption story, that Christ died for our sins, intersects with Good Friday. It's the day Christians celebrate the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the redemption of mankind from the grips of sin. On the night of his betrayal Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment, to love one another as he love them. This commandment is written on my heart and is what gives me the courage and the willingness to be a servant for all mankind.

Despite the misconception progressive/liberals like myself aren't Christians because we don't wear our religion on our sleeve, I am a Christian. I'm the kind of Christian following the teachings of Jesus Christ to love one another, be my brothers keeper, and to care for the least of these. Jesus was a bleeding heart liberal and so am I.

My wish is for all of us, regardless of our religion (or not), is to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians :"In our Lord Jesus Christ we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace."

Down from my soapbox and on to business. The latest MSM talking points are the electorate is angry, President Obama has a low approval rating and republicans are going to regain control of the House and the Senate in the midterm elections. Yeah right. The MSM media must think we the people are stoopid. Seriously. If the party that got us into this mess regains control then we will deserve what we will get. If the party that is obstructing the President's agenda thinks they will be rewarded they are sadly mistaken. We the people may have been born at night, but we weren't born last night. You feel me?

I want to share an email circulating on web which shows the rank hypocrisy of the so called righteous anger of a certain segment of the electorate. I don't know who the author is, but I want to give them a big old fist dap!

We had eight years of Bush and Cheney, but now you get mad!

You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.
You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy.
You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got ousted.
You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed..
You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.
You didn't get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said
illegal war.
You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq .
You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.
You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.
You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden.
You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.
You didn't get mad when we let a major US city drown.
You didn't get mad when we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich.
You didn’t get mad when, using reconciliation; a trillion dollars of our tax dollars were redirected to insurance companies for Medicare Advantage which cost over 20 percent more for basically the same services that Medicare provides.
You didn't get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark, and our
debt hit the thirteen trillion dollar mark.
You finally got mad when the government decided that people in America
deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars,
lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich
richer, are all okay with you, but helping other Americans... oh hell no.

Good Friday and may peace be with you and yours.
