The #GOP is #MAHA (Making America Hate Again)

Meghan McCain (Screenshot/CNN)

For some reason unbeknown to me cable and network news outlets think we the people care about what Meghan McCain has to say about anything or anybody,  EYE mean really?  Other than being the blonde the daughter of a Republican United States Senator what is her claim to fame?  Anyhoo this is what EYE heard she said on #TheVanJonesShow on CNN emphasis mine.
“I am first to say I’m not a huge Trump supporter, for obvious reasons, but I decided on election night I would be as unemotional as possible in analyzing him and his presidency,” McCain replied.
“I’ve never been accused of being racist in my entire life until recently, until Trump became president,” she added. “I understand there is a lot of tension in this country that is overheating in a way we have never seen before… and I don’t pretend to understand the experience of minorities in this country.
But I will say that I have vivid memories of my father being called racist, I have memories of President Bush being called racist, of Mitt Romney, of Jeb Bush… I think it does a disservice to real racism,” McCain said.
“And I think that for me, I want to separate those things and I don’t want that to be thrown around the way it is, and I understand there’s a lot of hurt and a lot of pain right now, but it hurts me when you’re throwing out that I and basically the party I’m in… and it’s as simple as your racist.
Poor thing.  She doesn't realize there is no separation between her party and racist/racism. In the words of Bill Maher: If you are a racist looking for a party the GOP is the obvious choice.

Own It.
More Republican candidates than ever who are seeking re-election have been using white supremacist slogans, had white supremacists at their government events and granted interviews to racist publications.
Where once we could rely on the fact that these types of people would not ascend to the highest offices in the land, with the installation of President Trump, we now know anything is possible. After all, look at who he has brought with him to the White House. White nationalists such as Steve Bannon, Sebastian Gorka and Stephen Miller are all clear-cut racists who he gave a platform.
EYE know she is young but she has to know her party has a documented history of racist/racism.

You are who/what you vote for.

Update~Disenfranchising African American Voters Since 2000

EYE don't know why anyone is shocked Alabama Republicans Dare Defend Their Right to disenfranchise African American voters.  They've been doing it since 2000.  Remember?

Some of the most powerful footage in Fahrenheit 9/11 comes from the Joint Session of Congress that convened on January 6, 2001. It was during this session that then Vice-President Al Gore presided over the verification of the Electoral College vote in the face of fierce Congressional protests. U.S. Rep. Peter Deutsch was the first to attempt to halt the proceedings and was followed shortly thereafter by U.S. Reps. Alcee Hastings and Corrine Brown.

As African Americans said then, and now, it's the courts stupid! Justice is a long way off when all the votes aren't counted.

Because no Senator would sign their inquiries into the Florida recount, the electoral vote was verified and the way was cleared for George W. Bush to be sworn in as the nation's 43rd president. Had U.S. Representatives Deutsch, Hastings and Brown been successful with their protests on January 6th, 2001, further investigations would have been conducted into the voting irregularities in Florida.
Read it and Weep.
Approximately 250,000 registered voters in Alabama don’t have a driver’s license or acceptable form of voter ID. In the last election, a 93-year-old World War II veteran was turned away from the polls because of the new law. Only 41 percent of Alabamans voted in the 2014 election, the lowest turnout in the state in 28 years.

Friday Funnies

Sometime you have to laugh to keep from crying.  Get your giggle on.~RedEye
Mike Hubbard

Fist Dap to countrycat at Left in Alabama  for this Laugh out Loud of the week.
WTH?  I know we tend to dismiss some members of the Alabama legislative super-majority as "weasels" (with apologies to the actual weasels among us), but what the heck are these guys wearing on their heads?  Speaker Mike Hubbard is preening about his involvement in the so-called "pro-life rally" today in Montgomery - so much so that we wouldn't be surprised to see him sporting a peacock tail.
But what's UP with the hats & capes?  It's like some kind of reverse skunk outfit.  And that can't possibly be Dan Aykroyd in the middle, but maybe a cousin....

Republican whine of the day.....we lost the 2012 presidential election because of "that one".  "We’re what needs to be fixed in the Republican party? Seriously?"  Oh. OK.

I think I know why George Zimmerman hasn't been arrested for the murder of Trayvon Williams

It's been 26 days since Trayvon Martin died. Instead of arresting George Zimmerman, Florida's republican men hide behind, I mean,  turn the case over to Florida's republican women.  Now we have to wait and see if these women have the ovaries to do the right thing, or, if they are temporary  window dressings.  I suspect the latter, but time will tell the truth.

It's been 26 days since Trayvon Martin died because he being young, black male and suspicious.  It's been 7 years since Florida Governor Jeb Bush (r) signed the Stand Your Ground Bill into law.

It's been 26 days since Trayvon Martin died standing his ground.

It's been 26 days since Trayvon Martin  was gunned down 70 yards from his fathers back door.  Why is the gunman still free?

That is the question people all over the world, including  right wing republicans, are asking.

It's a trap for President Obama in swing state Florida.

The righty's are just itching for President Obama to over reach in the Trayvon Martin case so they can throw  out some red meat to their base,  make the case about President Obama's Ebony Donkey, and take the focus off the real issues surrounding the death of Trayvon Martin.  Weapon of Mass Distraction.

President Obama said if he had a son he would look like Trayvon, the Justice Department, which reports to him as head of the Executive Branch, is on the case.

Enough said.

We can take it from here Mister President.

What looks like Bats#it crazy on an ordinary day in AmeriBama

H/T Kingcockfight

It's official, President Barack Hussein Obama has driven the gop crazy.  So much so, even die heart republicans are asking  is it time to abandon the republican party, and  Jeb Bush is trying to disarm the circular firing squad.   I do believe the Suckers are waking up and smelling the Tea. Pun Intended.

Alabama Legislature 2012:  Bill could require anal probe inserted in republican male candidates to get on the ballot.  Snark  Not to be left out of the stuck on stupid,  State Senator Clay Scofield (r. Guntersville) introduced a bill requiring women to have a vaginal ultrasound before having an abortion.  Why don't they call it the make Doctors and Ultrasound Companies richer bill?  I'm just saying...

Give me some ideological purity over winning any day, any time, any place.  What's the good in winning as a democrat but governing like a republican?  I mean, really?

And that's this week in Bats#t Crazy AmeriBama.

Edited~Why the #AlaGOP is pushing for #CharterSchools

And it has nothing to do with improving educational achievement, it's all about the Benjamin's.  Strike that.  It's all about the AlaGop getting their greedy fingers on the public Benjamin's.
The charter school concept may soon come to Alabama. Gov. Robert Bentley intends to push for charter schools in the 2012 legislative session. Jennifer Ardis, Bentley's press secretary, said the governor wants to try charter schools on a small scale in Alabama.
The Legislature has shot down charter school ideas in the past, but with a new Republican majority, the idea may pass this time. The success of any charter schools Alabama gets may be dependent on how well the Legislature crafts a law allowing charter schools to operate here. Recent studies have shown that how states set up the enabling legislation for their charter schools can have a big impact on their success.
"My concern is that when the Legislature and the governor put in bills that they are very careful because I am completely opposed to charter schools run by non-citizens or private chains," said Betty Peters, a state school board member. "I believe that charter schools are supposed to be public schools, and if schools are going to be run with public money, we should be very careful."
You're darn Skippy we should be very careful, or Alabama will end up like Florida where the Charter School Industry is running amok with taxpayer money.
These days, it is the burgeoning charter school industry that is reeling in taxpayer dollars. As two Miami Herald reporters discovered, the charter school industry in Florida, which has been given the political stamp of approval of a thoroughly conservative state legislature and a series of conservative governors, allows charters to "play by their own rules."
According to an investigative report by The Miami Herald's Scott Hiaasen and Kathleen McGrory, the managers of charter schools in Florida, a project championed by former Governor Jeb Bush, are running amok.
As billions in taxpayer dollars have been shifted from traditional school districts to independently run charter schools, the charter school industry has become "one of the region's fastest-growing industries, backed by real-estate developers and promoted by politicians."
It's not about the children, it's about the bottom line.
While there are arguments to be had over the efficacy of charter schools, there is no disputing the facts presented by The Miami Herald's reporters that, in part due to a lack of oversight and accountability, Florida's charter schools have become a veritable gold mine for a number of corporations.
Now we know why the AlaGOP is pushing for Charter Schools.
But charter schools have also resulted in a "freewheeling system" with minimal oversight that "has given rise to a cottage industry of professional charter school management companies that-along with the landlords and developers who own and build schools-control the lion's share of charter schools' money."
These management companies are reeling in taxpayer dollars in several ways: they receive "roughly $6,000 per student from the state" and they "also get some state funds for facilities and maintenance." In fact, "Most schools rent their facilities-in churches, shopping centers, or brand-new school buildings erected by real-estate developers," and these properties are "exempt from property taxes."
According to Hiasson and McGrory, "Many of the highest rents are charged by landlords with ties to the management companies running the schools, [and] .... At least 56 charter schools in Miami-Dade and Broward counties sit on land whose owners are tied to management companies, property records show."
Remember this mantra, Charter Schools are back door privatization of education.

Charter Schools are NOT a good thing in Alabama or any where else.
Just last Thursday Ron Sparks told the Madison County Democratic Women, "I am against charter schools in Alabama.  ... I will not start dividing our children and segregating our children in Alabama."  Today a release from the Artur Davis campaign accused Sparks of flip-flopping on the issue, appearing with Newt Gingrich and Al Sharpton to highlight the Obama administration's education reform efforts and seeking to "help rally support for lifting restrictions on the growth of high-quality charter schools."
republicans/conservatives/right wingers don't have a problem taking them there federal tax dollars it comes to funding private, I mean charter schools, but they claim to not want government bailouts, I mean handouts.
Go figure.
