EYE wish white Democrats (and EYE use that term loosely) would pick a lane and stop walking down the yellow line in the middle of the road

lines on the road meaning explained driving laws solid double yellow

Daddy used to say the only thing in the middle of the street is a yellow line. White Democrats would RATHER stay in the middle of the street than pick a lane.  They can't decide if they want to be democrats or if they want to be republicans.  Walking the yellow line allows them to be modern-day Dixiecrats

Reed defined a Dixiecrat as "those folks who are mad because blacks are a majority in the Democratic Party in Alabama."

White democratic women will defend the honor of a republican woman before they defend their own.

Democrats will praise/defend a republican before they praise/defend their own.

White democrats believe the only way they can "win" elections is to pander to the Republicans at the expense of their base because after all where can the base go?  The base is held captive on the plantation.
“The data reveals that Black women voters are the very foundation to a winning coalition, yet most Black voters feel like the Democrats take them for granted,” the letter reads. “Since taking office, you have met with and listened to key constituencies. But you have yet to host a Black women leaders convening.”

Make up your mind.  You are either with us or you are with them.  Pick a lane.

Congressman John Robert Lewis " rooted deep in Alabama soil"

John Lewis, upper left and his nine brothers and sisters circa 1969.
Front row L-R Rosa, Ethel, Ora
Back row L-R, John, Henry, William, Samuel, Freddie, Edward and Adolph
Lewis is the most famous one, but Rosa Tyner, the youngest, said all of her older brothers and sisters were exceptional. Ora worked in nursing. Edward, the oldest boy, was deaf, but refused to get on disability and he took care of Willie Mae after Eddie died in 1977.
“My mother, we called her Mul, was very humble. She didn’t say much and I never really heard her cuss. Dad was a humble, good person,” Tyner said. “All of the children were raised right. I’m not saying that we were saints. But if we did something wrong, we got it straight.”

“So you are John Lewis? The boy from Troy,” Martin Luther King Jr. said upon meeting the teenager who would become one of the civil rights movement’s most famous, vocal, and long-lived members.
The third of ten children born to sharecropper Eddie Lewis and his wife, Willie Mae, John Lewis was out in the blistering Alabama fields at age 4, picking cotton, gathering peanuts, pulling corn. The family survived on the leavings after their white landlord deducted his rent in cash or crops. They lived in “Carter’s Quarters,” a tract that had been home to Willie Mae Carter’s family since slavery days. Ironically, it was just a few miles from where John Lewis’s great opponent, Gov. George Wallace, was raised.
My father couldn’t afford a newspaper subscription. I’d walk half a mile to get my grandfather’s paper after he got done reading it. I kept up with what was going on, reading that paper and listening to that radio. . . . We ordered everything from the Sears & Roebuck catalog. We called it ‘the Wish Book.’ . . . I was bused 18 miles to the Pike County Training School. Black schools were ‘training schools’; whites went to high schools. We had old broken-down buses, ragged books, a rundown building. White students had new buses, nice painted buildings with the grounds kept up. . . . In Troy, they had a soda fountain where you could get Coca-Cola. We called it a combination. A black person could not take a seat. We had to stand at the end of the counter. ‘May I have a combination?’ You put your money down and went outside to the street corner to drink it. . . . As a young child I saw a difference. I resented it. Even the country road where I grew up—because black people owned the land, the road was left unpaved for many, many years. When it rained, the bus got stuck in the mud. That was life in Alabama.—U.S. Rep. John Lewis
Listen to John Lewis describe how Rev. Martin Luther King Jr inspired him in his own words.

While researching John Lewis EYE discovered black politics are more complex than they look.
Sometimes, going back into history is what helps define the present in black politics and helps point the way forward. The fight for Atlanta’s fifth congressional district once upon a time, in 1986, pitted two civil rights icons, Julian Bond and John Lewis, against each other. It is the sort of history that tells us everything about much of black politics today: Bond, the intellectual race man beloved by blacks, loses to John Lewis, the man who sold himself particularly well to whites.
Rest in peace, power, and love with the #Ancestors Congressman John Lewis. EYE will keep getting into #GoodTrouble in #SweetHomeAlabama in honor of your courage and sacrifice.

Republican Governors Playing Partisan Politics with Peoples Lives #COVID19

Image

Governors in the red, republican, Confederate, slave states are showing they care more about appeasing Trump than they care about the people they were elected to represent, their states and their country by not ordering people to stay home.

People will die because of them

Someone's parents, grandparents, brothers or sisters will die

Sadly, people in those states are in for a very scary awakening.

The question facing us all now as citizens is whether or not the response of our country to a worldwide pandemic is being driven by the basic strategy of the Piranha Brothers. That is, whether or not the president* is withholding vital medical aid during a national health crisis for the purpose of muzzling criticism of his obvious incompetence, and for the auxiliary purpose of gaining political advantage in November’s election. If the answer to either of those questions is “yes,” then we have an unreconstructed monster running the country and there’s no telling what he might do next.

Now that America has an incompetent, dimwitted dictator as the head of the household, the Republican policy of plausible deniability has been ruined. The dunderheaded daddy of the GOP has exposed his party’s ultimate goal—maintaining their status as the sole beneficiaries of America’s corporate, economic and political profiteering

It looks like Nathaniel Woods isn’t the only person Gov. Kay Ivey is willing to put to death.

An Open Letter to Nancy Worley

Image result for Nancy Worley racism behind opposition

SDEC Vice-Chair responds to the "Whining Whiners" with "factual information"

Dear Madame Chair,

It's me RedEye.  I am writing this letter today to let you know I recognize the tremendous pressure you are under to throw African Americans under the bus and to apologize for all the bashing and worse you endure for being an ally to Black Democrats in Alabama.  Our rich southern heritage tells us there is nothing worse in #SweetHomeAlabama than for a white person to align themselves with #TheBlacks.
A number of SDEC members, DNC officials and interested parties told me on Monday that tremendous pressure is being placed on ADP leaders, including Worley, to do the right things and stop standing in the way of the proper changes being made. Worley has privately agreed to cooperate with most actions, but it’s unclear how far her cooperation will extend, specifically when it comes to the rewrite of the bylaws.
The white male-dominated media pushes the #fake narrative that it's about incompetence but we know that's not true.  If you were incompetent and if you were really awful at your job you wouldn't have the support of the African American community.  And for that, you are vilified and crucified.

How can they claim their latest move to remove and replace you is not rooted in racism?  Are we supposed to ignore the fact they are accusing the minority caucus of cheating to win?  Are we supposed to ignore the fact the DNC is enabling them to Bully you?  Are we supposed to ignore the fact you are the only person standing in the way of limiting the power of vice -chairman for minority affairs Joe Reed who represents us?
In reality, Worley and Kelly are still very much in control of the party, and in those positions, they have the ability to stall, if not outright block, almost all efforts to remove them or rewrite the party’s bylaws in a manner that would limit the power of vice-chairman for minority affairs Joe Reed.
Although you have been successful in the past at keeping the angry white males and the women who love them at bay I sense a force that is bigger, meaner, powerful,  and more determined than ever before controlling this latest effort to take the ADP back to the Party of George Wallace.
In February, at the urging of U.S. Sen. Doug Jones, D-Alabama, the DNC voted to invalidate the 2018 election of Worley as Chair over concerns with how the state Democratic Executive Committee is selected. The national Democratic Party wants more seats set aside for minorities other than Blacks and changes to the party’s bylaws, as well as new elections for chair and vice chair.
Quoting The Gambler Kenny Rodgers maybe it's time to fold our cards and let them have the ADP and us real democrats/progressives form our own darn party.

Imagine an Alabama Democratic Party without black folks. Intentional or not, that's what you are asking for when you say it's time for Joe Reed to step aside. If the party is tired of one, the party is tired of all. United we stand. Divided we fall. That's the lesson Alabama democrats should heed.
Thank you for all you've done.  Thank you for all you have endured.  EYE will understand if you are tired of fighting with us and for us.  Job well done.
Your friend,
RedEYE

The Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads and the White Male Dominated Media Didn't Win This Time in #SweetHomeAlabama

Attention Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads and White Male Dominated Media Charles Barkley is NOT the messenger.
Like black women all over the country, who voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 at a rate of 95 percent, in Alabama a whopping 98 percent of black women chose Jones in this week’s election. Overall, black voters have tended to pickmore progressive candidates when presented with facts and good media coverage. But as many have pointed out, the Democratic Party has often taken the concerns of black women for granted. Charles Barkley, who stumped for Jones, made an excellent point hours after the election during a CNN interview. Rather than targeting Trump, Barkley wisely called out Democrats. “They’ve taken the black vote and the poor vote for granted for a long time. It’s time for them to get off their ass and start making life better for black folks and people who are poor,” he said. “This is a wakeup call for Democrats to do better for black people and poor white people.”
You won't see this on TeeVee or in #TheMedia
Alabama Democrat Doug Jones was elected to the U.S. Senate on Tuesday by a mere 21,000 votes. That margin would have been much larger if Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, a strident partisan Republican, would have taken steps to inform his state’s voters than thousands of ex-felons were eligible to vote under a 2017 state law.

"OBAMACARE'S EVISCERATION STARTS TODAY BECAUSE THE TYPICAL GOP VOTER IS JUST LIKE MO BROOKS"

So today is the day republicans enabled by the white male dominated media who have access to quality affordable health care vote to take access to quality affordable healthcare away from 24 million Americans because they hate former President Obama more than they love their country, their constituents or themselves.

EYE turn the floor over to No More Mister Nice Blog

But why wouldn't the voters GOP House and Senate members rely on be upset if this bill becomes law? Because Republican voters generally think like Congressman Mo Brooks (R-Ala.):
“It [The GOP health care bill] will allow insurance companies to require people who have higher health care costs to contribute more to the insurance pool that helps offset all these costs, thereby reducing the cost to those people who lead good lives, they’re healthy, they’ve done the things to keep their bodies healthy,” explained Brooks. “And right now, those are the people who have done things the right way that are seeing their costs skyrocketing.”

Speaking of "good people"  a 61-year-old white grandmother was convicted and faces a year in jail for laughing at Jeff Sessions.  EYE kid you not.
Three women - including one who said her only crime was laughing - were convicted Wednesday on charges of disrupting the confirmation hearing of U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
The women were part of activist group Code Pink and were protesting Sessions' Jan. 10 Senate confirmation hearing. Two of the women, Tighe Barry and Lenny Bianchi, appeared at the Washington, D.C. hearing dressed as Ku Klux Klan members. They were acquitted on a count of disorderly conduct but convicted on two separate charges of parading or demonstrating, the New York Times reported.
A third woman, Desiree Fairooz of Virginia, was found guilty of disorderly conduct and parading or demonstrating on Capitol grounds.

How dare #HCSBOE Reps Michelle Watkins And Pam Hill represent the wishes of their con·stit·u·ents

Huntsville City Schools Board of Education Representatives Michelle Watkins left, Pam Hill right

Long Sigh

 Here we go again.

You know the drill.

Elected officials who actually represent the wishes of their constituents are told to go along to get along or else the establishment will (as my Daddy used to say)  come down on them like a cow urinating (my word not his) on a flat rock
Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle issued a statement today to address the letters he sent to two Huntsville school board members, chastising them for their behavior at a recent board meeting.
"Last week, the Huntsville Board of education experienced a particularly contentious meeting, prompting a number of concerned calls to my office," Battle said in the letter, which was sent as an e-newsletter titled "Inspiring Confidence."
"I am concerned by the perception we are giving industry and our children," Battle continued. "City Hall does not attempt to interfere in the management of the City School System; however, as your mayor of this great city, it is my role to promote Huntsville, which means earning the confidence of incoming companies and families to trust our public schools with the education of their children."

On Friday, Battle sent what he called a "personal message" to Huntsville board members Michelle Watkins and Pam Hill. The letters, which were identical, were written on city letterhead, signed by Mayor Tommy Battle, and sent to the two elected officials at the school board office.
The letters said, among other things, that their behavior at the meeting "did not reflect the values we have established in our community."
EYE am still trying to figure out why Mayor Battle chose Women's History Day of all days to chastise two female elected officials for doing their jobs, and EYE have to wonder if he chastised their behavior for political gain
Two big-city Alabama mayors, viewed as popular candidates for statewide office someday, found themselves embroiled in local controversies this week.
But political observers in Alabama doubt that either Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle or Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson will face much backlash from their separate issues.
And as one observer noted, the incidences that have been viewed as missteps could turn out to be helpful in pumping up name recognition statewide.
"These two little blips are probably more beneficial than not," said Steve Flowers, a political columnist and commentator based out of Troy. "It gets their name out there. I don't think the average person cares if Tommy Battle got mad at a school board member. It looks like (to them) that he's doing his job."
EYE guess it depends on what the definition of the average person IS because this average person sees a sexist, paternalistic, bully.
For Battle, an early poll among conservative voters has listed him high on a list of gubernatorial hopefuls. The Alabama Forestry Association, in a poll in August on the 2018 gubernatorial election had Battle trailing only behind former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore and current U.S. Senator Luther Strange.
Now if that doesn't scare the bejesus out of you EYE don't know what will.  It also explains why Alabama is stuck on stupid.  Politicians pander to concerned citizens aka conservative voters at the expense of everyone else, if you don't believe me the proof is the al.com anonymous comment section.

Concerned citizens like this:  Battle was right to chastise those 2 clowns.

Conservative voters like this:  Did you watch the board meeting? They were throwing a fit interrupting everyone about not getting an email that they did receive. Even when other members were trying to simply clarify what was going on they wouldn't let anyone get a full sentence out. It is one thing to decry dirty tricks, it is another to make them up because you aren't getting your way. They even eventually got their way once Wilder was able to get her questions answered. These two women are blatantly disrespectful every board meeting. You can disagree with people and not make a spectacle of yourself. It's no wonder there is (sic) discipline issues in the school if a woman like Pam Hill was teaching these kids for the past 20 years. I feel for any kid subjected to that kind of abuse.

Concerned citizens like this:  No matter what your belief, this was a public official meeting. The behavior demonstrated was embarrassing. Should the mayor have gotten involved? Probably not but shame on the other board members for not trying to put a stop to the childish display between the 2 individuals. If you want a cat fight, wait til after the meeting and meet in an alley.

Conservative voters like this:  Wow. that's a bit of a stretch! Out of the Mayor's letter, you pulled that he wants people to act like they are fixing problems but not actually fix them? The Mayor was very clear... when you are new to politics, you may not realize that the way you act in a meeting means something. Being "passionate" about an issue is great... being in charge of a meeting and losing control... not so much. Meetings have rules to keep people from doing what they did. If all meetings allowed for anyone to start losing their minds, nothing gets done and confidence in the system and in the elected members is eroded. The Mayor speaks for the City and if the City looks like a bunch of out out-of-control political newbies, he should say something. And he did. Good job Mayor Battle.

According to the white male dominated media enabled clueless consultants, Alabama voters are either stuck on stupid or suffer chronic amnesia.
But Brown, along with Flowers, is doubtful the letter and the reaction to it will have a long-lasting impact.
"He's obviously very visible in the Huntsville media market, mayor for three terms now," said Brown. "If you have a crowded field, someone like that might take their regional base in the Huntsville metro area and do well enough there to acquire enough votes to make runoff."
Said Flowers: "If someone would read on AL.com that Battle had an argument with a school board member, my perception is that he's wanting to do a good job as mayor. It looks like he's doing a good job ... that he's interested in doing a good job as mayor."
Now EYE understand why #SweetHomeAlabama is the most conservative state in the nation. We have got to take our state back from conservative voters and Make Alabama Great  ...EYE won't say "again" because Alabama was never great in the first place.
Until the majority of the people of this state – the average, common workers and poor, impoverished workers – figure out that we’re all getting the shaft from the race-based, elite-aiding policies pushed by our lawmakers, we deserve exactly the job market and poor quality of life that such idiocy produces.
It’s time for a change that only we can bring.
Stop concerning yourself with whether an idea is “liberal” or “conservative.” Stop worrying if it was put forth by a Republican or a Democrat. Or if it’s a policy to aid *whisper* “the blacks.”
Instead, ask this simple question: is it a policy that helps me and people like me.
Wake up everybody.  It is time to see a new day. It's time to stop electing people who pander to conservative voters.  We can start by seeking out real news sources where we the public can find real facts and not alternative facts.

There are more of us than there are of them.

#SweetHomeAlabama State Senator Cam Ward (R.Alabaster) tweets #AlternativeFacts, blame Twitter users #Apocolypse Day 1

In a misguided attempt to discredit the millions of women (men and children) around the world who protested Trump's Fake Presidency, Alabama State Senator Cam Ward tried to slut shame the Women's March. He probably would have gotten away with it if he had not used social media as his vehicle.  You see, unlike the mainstream media, social media users can and will check you.

There is just one little problem with this photo saying it all...The photo was from an event in 2013 called SlutWalk Chicago, an annual parade that protests sexual assault and violence.  Ooops!

So instead of saying Sen. Cam Ward tweeted a false tweet, good old Alabama Media Group lays the blame on them there Twitter Users.  See how #AlternativeFacts are promoted and enabled by the media? We have research to determine if what is being reported in the "news" is fact or fiction.

Psst, Senator Ward....EYE don't think you want to slut-shame women for organizing to fight for their rights in light of the fact the person occupying the oval office likes to grab women by their private parts,  is being sued for defamation over a sexual assault denials,  and is on his third marriage to someone who has some ahem revealing pictures out there that show it all.  In your attempt to discredit the #WomensMarch your discredited yourself.

EYE am looking at you too Alabama Media Group.  Instead of reporting just the facts you tried to rehabilitate Sen. Ward with a false both sides narrative.  The truth doesn't have "both sides", it's either the truth or it's a lie.  Okay?

Welcome the new additions to RedEye's Blog Roll!

Greetings Readers, Lurkers, Commentators and Others! EYE would like to take this opportunity to introduce to some, and welcome others, to the latest additions to my Blogroll.

Welcome Capitol Heel!  EYE am looking forward to you helping me keep an EYE on the Reddest State in the Union and our country! Love the graphic!

Why Capitol Heel?
Many refer to politics as a “man’s sport” but it is our hope that Capitol Heel will lift up the accomplishments and stories of women who are working within our political system, while encouraging other women to become politically involved.
Through Capitol Heel we wish to provide a place where women can receive advice and also gain insight based on the experiences of women who are active within our systems as either advocates, campaign staffers, movement builders, or elected officials.
Welcome Larry Lee on Education!   Education is the HOPE of our Republic.  Thank  you for telling us what we need to know about what's going on in the Education field, locally, statewide, and nationally.
About Larry Lee
My interest in public education began in 2008 when I ran the Center for Rural Alabama at the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries. One project was a study of 10 high-poverty, high-performing rural schools. Two colleagues and I spent months trying to figure out why they did so well in the face of so many challenges. We drove 10,000 miles and interviewed more than 300 people in communities from one end of the state to the other. I went to more PTO meetings, Fall Festivals, Native American Days and other school and community gatherings than I will ever recall.
Welcome Strangers in a Strange Land!  You have earned your way onto my Favorite Blog/Blogger list, and it's not just because you of your critical thinking.
I am a small-town boy from Talladega, Alabama. I was born in 1965, so I’m either a young baby-boomer or an old Gen-Xer. After 12 years in Alabama’s mediocre public schools, I was lucky enough to score scholarship money to attend Birmingham-Southern College, where I acquired my interest in things political, and particularly the politics of Alabama. I majored in political science and worked as a researcher for a political polling firm run by my major professor and first great mentor, Natalie Davis. Studying liberal arts at BSC taught me to think critically. I attended law school at Alabama, but I remain an Auburn fan (see the critical thinking in action?).
Welcome to my Blog World!  Read on.  Read often.

Not one, not two, but three of Alabama's highest officials, all republicans, are embroiled in three separate scandals #SweetHomeAlabama

Edited~The Madison Police Officer who injured Mr. Patel is not convicted, but the Madison Police Chief is? #PatelAlabama

suresh6.jpg
Grandfather visiting Alabama from India stopped by police while walking, left partially paralyzed
What is wrong with this picture?  EYE am not a lawyer or a judge, and EYE don't play one in the Blogosphere, but in the words of Keith Sweat, something just ain't right about this.
A federal judge today held Madison Police Chief Larry Muncey in contempt of court.

He has been placed on paid administrative leave by Madison Mayor Troy Trulock, according to a statement released by the mayor following the hearing.
Muncey was fined $2,500 and ordered to undergo special training. The maximum penalty Muncey could have faced was six months in jail and a $5,000 fine.

Muncey and his attorney, Jerry Barclay, declined to comment after the hearing.
Muncey is the only person to be convicted in the Indian grandfather case, which stemmed from a February 2015 incident when a native of India was slammed to the ground by Madison police officer Eric Parker, who was responding to a suspicious person call.
Let's recap:
Madison police last week roughed up a 57-year-old Indian citizen who was walking on the sidewalk outside his son's home, leaving the older man temporarily paralyzed and hospitalized with fused vertebrae.
"He was just walking on the sidewalk as he does all the time," said his son, Chirag Patel, this morning. "They put him to the ground."
No crime had been committed. Madison Police on Monday issued a statement saying the department had suspended the officer and were investigating the use of force in this case. The police statement wished the man a "speedy recovery."
Judge Madeline Hughes Haikala throws out excessive force case against a police officer because "All Lives Matter"
Per the Ruling: Two juries have communicated as much after lengthy deliberations that produced thoughtful questions and, ultimately, deadlock. The Court has no reason to expect a different result in a subsequent trial given the totality of the evidence that the parties have provided. The Government has had two full and fair chances to obtain a conviction; it will not have another.
So, it's two strikes and you're out for the federal government, but one strike and you're out for the Madison Police chief?
Parker has been tried twice in federal court for violating Sureshbhai Patel's civil rights but neither jury could reach a verdict. He was eventually acquitted of the civil rights charge by U.S. District Judge Madeline Hughes Haikala, who then brought contempt charges against Muncey.
Muncey on Thursday announced he was taking a leave of absence. Now that Muncey has been placed on administrative leave, Major Jim Cooke has been named acting police chief by Trulock.

The contempt ruling from Haikala stems from Muncey's improper communication with witnesses -- all Madison police officers -- during the September 2015 civil rights trial of Officer Eric Parker.
The judge said Muncey was also wrong to assign Sgt. Lamar Anderson to observe courtroom proceedings once Muncey was no longer permitted to be in the courtroom. And Muncey was wrong in ordering officers who testified in the trial to submit reports to him on their testimony within 24 hours of the trial's conclusion, Haikala said.
Somebody help me understand what is happening here.  It seems like the wrong person is being punished.
The take down left Patel, who spoke no English, in need of spinal surgery and launched an international incident. Muncey recommended that Parker, who was charged locally with misdemeanor assault, be fired.

Haikala spoke from the bench for 30 minutes outlining Muncey's transgressions, repeatedly saying that the special prosecutor had proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

The judge said that while she understood the difficult position Muncey found himself in in trying to protect the police department's liability in an unusual case, he violated a clear order from the judge.
Muncey "has to trust the process," Haikala said.
With all due respect, EYE am having difficulty trusting the process myself Your Honor, Mam.

It's OK to be corrupt if you are a Republican. Democrats not so much.

Screen Shot 2016-03-27 at 7.14.46 AM
A Song For Sunday

EYE am sick and tired of writing about Sweet Home Alabama's embattled Governor.  There are conflicting and vague reports of state/federal investigations and talk (and that's about all) of impeachment, but Dr. Love says he's not going anywhere because what he did looks bad but it's not illegal.  Meanwhile, he and his GOP enablers are up to their Same.. Old.. Stuff.
Bentley never broached the subject of the scandal that has engulfed his office in his speech and none of the three questions selected from the audience touched on the issues as well.
Bentley's 25-minute speech spanned a number of topics, praising the leadership in Huntsville and Madison County before outlining his initiatives to build four new prisons, expand funding for pre-kindergarten programs, condemning obesity, repeating his concern about cuts to Medicaid funding and reminding the high-tech Huntsville community about its role in putting a man on the moon.
Are we amused yet?

So let's compare the case of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman (D. Mobile), who is currently serving hard time  in a federal prison in Louisiana because he was too liberal for Alabama, EYE mean, appointed a campaign contributor to a board.
The central charge against Siegelman, a Democrat elected in a heavily Republican state, boils down to this. As governor, Siegelman was looking to promote an election on whether or not the state should create a lottery. One generous contributor to the special lottery campaign fund was Richard Scrushy, the high-flying CEO of HealthSouth who wished to be appointed to a state hospital board. Bush-appointed federal prosecutors claimed Scrushy’s $500,000 contribution to the lottery campaign was the price to gain an appointment by Siegelman to the state board.
It's past time to end the embarrassment.

Ya Think?
