#SweetHomeAlabama State Senator Alvin Holmes points out the hypocrisy regarding Governor Bentley

Alabama State Senator Alvin Holmes (D.Montogmery)
According to The Alabama Political Reporter,  Senator Alvin Holmes (D-Montgomery) is defending Governor Robert Bentley's  (r. Tuscaloosa) right to have a side piece.  Although that makes for a provocative headline, the facts don't fit the narrative.  Holmes is so NOT defending Bentley, he is pointing out the hypocrisy.
Rep. Holmes said on the floor of the House, “I have been up here many many years and I know what every person has done and what they have not done. Now there is no law against having a girlfriend. Ain’t no law against having a girlfriend. And you bring an impeachment resolution concerning Governor Bentley? I am going to have an amendment and I am going to add 12 members of the Legislature names to it. For allegedly have done the same thing or things that are worse….and they Democrats and Republicans.
Sniff Sniff...there is more than a whiff of hypocrisy
Holmes said, I am not going to vote for any impeachment resolution unless everybody is added to it. Everybody is going to be added to it.
Attorney Donald Watkins seems to collaborate his claims.  According to Watkins, the state is being run by a cabal of side pieces.
Sadly, the Bentley-Mason sex scandal has shown us ugly underbelly of politics in state government. Lobbyists, major corporations, mistresses, girlfriends, "escorts", “dark money” sponsors, and other power players have an icon-clad grip on the state of Alabama and they are running its business affairs. What is more, the mistresses, girlfriends, and "escorts" do not have to register as lobbyists. They only needed their man’s cell phone number and the correct hotel room number for the night. Their bedroom skills often enable them to run the daytime show and carry the night in Alabama.
It has been my observation over the years that a legislator’s alliance to voters and other concerned citizens is usually the first casualty of politics after he/she is sworn into office. Once they take office, many legislators cannot wait to get into the swing of things in Montgomery’s taxpayer-sponsored dens of sin and debauchery.
As Robert Bentley and Rebekah Mason have shown us, the art of sexual pleasure is the strongest form of power on Goat Hill.
EYE agree with Holmes, it's not about the side piece, it's about the alleged misuse of campaign funds and other resources to conduct and conceal the affair, and everyone involved in the cover up should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law just like former Governor Don Siegelman, former Birmingham mayor Larry Langford and all of the other democrats who were convicted for so-called crimes by republicans.

It's time for all of them to go.

If this is true, EYE am through with the alleged Democratic #HumanShields in #SweetHomeAlabama

Rep. Alvin Holmes, D-Montgomery (Photo: YouTube Screenshot)
Alabama House Democrat threatens to expose colleagues’ affairs if Bentley impeached
Everyone knows the Mainstream Media was Tardy to the Party, and it was Social Media/Bloggers who first broke the Dr. Love / Freaky Becky story. The mainstream media's excuse was they didn't  have proof of the rumors, even though the elected Governor, and the De Facto Governor. were carrying on in plain sight.

Attorney Donald Watkins has been right on the money so far, so EYE have no reason to doubt him or his credibility, but if he is right about Joe Reed being a human shield for Governor Bentley... EYE am through with Joe Reed, Alvin Holmes, and The Alabama Democratic Conference. If what Donald Watkins is true, EYE apologize for ever defending any of them.  Regular readers, pick your teeth up off the floor.
Our Facebook news team has solved the Alvin Holmes-Robert Bentley human shield mystery. Holmes is a longtime political "puppet" of Alabama Democratic Conference Chairman Joe L. Reed and deceased Alabama Education Association Executive Secretary Paul Hubbert. Reed and Hubbert teamed up to help Bentley defeat Bradley Byrne in the 2010 Republican primary elections. Reed also privately supported Bentley in his 2014 election against Democratic gubernatorial nominee Parker Griffin. As a result, Bentley and Reed have developed a close personal friendship.
Away from public view, Reed functions as one of Bentley's trusted political advisors. In this undisclosed capacity, Reed works closely with Bentley and his chief legal counsel, David Byrne. Reed identifies "safe" blacks for Bentley to appoint to vacant judgeships and government boards, among other tasks.
With democrats like these,  who needs republicans?

EYE feel so betrayed.

It's OK to be corrupt if you are a Republican. Democrats not so much.

A Song For Sunday

EYE am sick and tired of writing about Sweet Home Alabama's embattled Governor.  There are conflicting and vague reports of state/federal investigations and talk (and that's about all) of impeachment, but Dr. Love says he's not going anywhere because what he did looks bad but it's not illegal.  Meanwhile, he and his GOP enablers are up to their Same.. Old.. Stuff.
Bentley never broached the subject of the scandal that has engulfed his office in his speech and none of the three questions selected from the audience touched on the issues as well.
Bentley's 25-minute speech spanned a number of topics, praising the leadership in Huntsville and Madison County before outlining his initiatives to build four new prisons, expand funding for pre-kindergarten programs, condemning obesity, repeating his concern about cuts to Medicaid funding and reminding the high-tech Huntsville community about its role in putting a man on the moon.
Are we amused yet?

So let's compare the case of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman (D. Mobile), who is currently serving hard time  in a federal prison in Louisiana because he was too liberal for Alabama, EYE mean, appointed a campaign contributor to a board.
The central charge against Siegelman, a Democrat elected in a heavily Republican state, boils down to this. As governor, Siegelman was looking to promote an election on whether or not the state should create a lottery. One generous contributor to the special lottery campaign fund was Richard Scrushy, the high-flying CEO of HealthSouth who wished to be appointed to a state hospital board. Bush-appointed federal prosecutors claimed Scrushy’s $500,000 contribution to the lottery campaign was the price to gain an appointment by Siegelman to the state board.
It's past time to end the embarrassment.

Ya Think?

The Not So "Good Wife" #SweetHomeAlabama Style

Women of Influence Alabama's First Lady Dianne Bentley
One of my favorite television series is the Good Wife.  It is the story of the humiliated wife of a public figure, who is Standin by her man like Tammy Wynette , after it is revealed he's a lying, cheating, Scum Bag.
The series focuses on Alicia Florrick (Margulies), whose husband Peter Florrick (Noth), the former Cook County, Illinois State's Attorney, has been jailed following a notorious political corruption and sex scandal. After having spent the previous thirteen years as a stay-at-home mother, Alicia returns to her old job as a litigator to provide for her two children.[12] The series was partly inspired by the Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal,[13] as well as by other prominent American political sex scandals, such as those of John Edwards and Bill Clinton. As one of the creators, Michelle King, explains:

We came up with the idea about a year and a half ago. There had been this waterfall of these kinds of scandals, from Bill and Hillary [Clinton], to Dick Morris, to Eliot Spitzer, to name just a few. I think they are all over our culture. And there was always this image of the husband up there apologizing and the wife standing next to him. I think the show began when we asked, "What are they thinking?"
Unlike the Good Wife, former Alabama First Lady Dianne Bentley refused to play the everything is fine in public farce.  After gathering irrefutable proof of her husbands cheating ways she kicked him to the curb faster than a New York minute, and took him straight to the cleaners.
In a wide-ranging interview with the AP, Bentley said he was not aware his wife had filed divorce papers two days before the Aug. 28 event and signed them about 30 minutes before going to Montgomery. He did not know she was seeking a divorce until later that day, he said.
"Yeah, I did not know that it was going to take place," Bentley said.
According to the divorce papers, the Bentleys had been separated since January, with the governor residing in Montgomery and Mrs. Bentley living in Tuscaloosa. The relationship was so strained the First Lady almost didn't attend the Jan. 19 inauguration in Montgomery.
Not one time has Diane Bentley played the victim card.  If anyone comes out of this mess smelling like a Steele Magnolia it's her. You Go Girl! EYE don't agree with your politics, but EYE am proud of you for restoring my faith in the women of Alabama.
Dianne's filing for divorce signaled to the world that she would not live a lie. She was prepared to endure whatever public shame and embarrassment flowed from her divorce filing, suffer any act of retaliation or revenge from the Governor and his henchmen, and bear the heavy burden of starting life over again at 72 years old.

In the end, Dianne Bentley set herself free from her husband's domestic abuse and maritial cheating. In the process, she preserved her dignity as a woman and legacy as First Lady.
According to Attorney Donald Watkins, and Blogger Legal Schnauzer,  who first broke this scandal, the reason many republican leaders are acting like Silence of the Lambs because they have young side pieces who are running the state too.
The new power brokers -- mistresses to legislators and holders of their inner most secrets -- have the political power in Alabama right now.
Ain't that a dip?  Wouldn't it be something if all the wives stopped being the Good Wife?  Not So Good Wives like Dianne Bentley are our only HOPE of ousting the culture of cronyism that is corrupting our state.

The Greed Over People Party Strikes Again! #Scandal in #SweetHomeAlabama

Seven months after Blogger Legal Schnauzer broke the story of Bible Thumping Governor Robert Bentley's hypocrisy and corruption via Attorney Donald Watkins Facebook reporting, the Alabama Mainstream Media, (EYE roll),  republicans, right wing radio talk show host, Bloggers, and some (not to be confused with all) democrats who enabled them,  are falling over themselves renouncing, rejecting, and repudiating, Dr. "Love" Bentley.

Let's be clear.  They aren't calling for his resignation, and threatening to impeach him because he did something wrong, they are mad because he got caught.  If the Governor hadn't tried to neuter the guard dog he and his Crush would still be carrying on their non physical relationship.  His Crush and her Spouse would still be getting paid,  and,  his Crush would still be the defacto Governor of Sweet Home Alabama.

The Montgomery Advertiser's Josh Moon said Alabama is getting just what it deserves.  As a life long resident of Alabama, EYE respectfully disagree.  Those of us who voted a straight democratic ticket, no matter how foul, don't deserve any of this.

Be careful who/what you ask for.

Who elected Rebekah Caldwell Mason Governor of #SweetHomeAlabama?

Rebekah Mason
Rebekah Caldwell Mason

The bigger issue isn't whether she and the governor were playing doctor or not. How much influence does she really have on Bentley? Is Ol' Doc's top adviser really his puppet master? The "de facto governor," as Spencer Collier says?

Finally, EYE would like to remind everyone how hypocritical republicans are, especially when it comes to so called #FamilyValues.  It's always the party of so called Compassionate, Conservative, Christians screaming Jesus the loudest, who are the biggest hypocrites.

What get's me is for the most part they (republicans) get away with it.  Everybody knows if this had been a democrat, or a black lawmaker they would have been tried in the media, forced to resign, and/or convicted/imprisoned.

Don't believe me?  Ask former Governor Don Siegelman, former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford, former Jefferson County Commissioner Chris McNair , and others

And yes, EYE am playing the race card.
But a reasonable person, looking at the broad picture, could ask: Was the real reason these people were arrested that they represent a county that is mostly black, relatively poor, and largely Democratic? In other words, are political prosecutions still the tool of choice for the conservative elites who rule Karl Rove's Alabama--even with Barack Obama in the White House? Are such shenanigans still going on in other "deep red" regions of the country?

Stay Tuned.

EYE guess it depends on what the definition of a "physical relationship"....IS #RobertBentley #Scandlous in #SweetHomeAlabama

#FamilyValues

"I never had a physical relationship with that woman, Rebekah Caldwell Mason" Sound familiar?  It should. It's the same parsing former President Clinton engaged in when confronted about his relationship with White House Intern, Monica Lewinsky.

Again, if anyone had told me Governor Robert Bentley (Bible Thumper, R. Tuscaloosa) was a dirty old man EYE would have laughed in their face. But then it's always the Compassionate, Christian, Conservatives who are the biggest hypocrites.  But EYE digress.

Mrs. Mason also denies she and Dr. "Love" Bentley ( good one Legal Schnauzer) engaged in a physical affair, claiming she's being picked on because she's a woman in a position of power and authority.  Hmm...EYE wonder where she got that from?    Mind you, these denials were made prior to the release of audio recordings made by the governors Ex.  What's that they say about Karma....
A clip of the audio recordings revealing Alabama Governor Robert Bentley’s illicit affair with a staffer has now surfaced online.
Yellowhammer was given exclusive access to the content of audio recordings captured by Dianne Bentley, Governor Bentley’s ex-wife, during which Governor Bentley makes sexual advances on and recalls sexual encounters with Rebekah Mason, his former communications director who has since become his most senior external advisor. Mrs. Mason’s husband, Jon, also serves in the Bentley administration as Director of Serve Alabama, the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Volunteer Service.
One of the recordings was captured while Governor and Mrs. Bentley were visiting their beach house.
Mrs. Bentley, who had suspected the affair, went for a walk on the beach, but left her cell phone behind recording the audio of what took place in her absence.
EYE don't know if Bentley and Mason engaged in a physical relationship or not.  And we may never know because the Governor's divorce files are cloaked in secrecy.  Remember?
There is one reason why the divorce records of Gov. Robert Bentley have been placed under seal, and one privileged reason alone:
They could embarrass the governor.
Chew on that a long, hard minute. The governor, the man elected by the people of Alabama to serve as our top dog and the head of our collective household, does not want us to see what will be included in that file.
It might – after all -- affect the way we think of him.
You think?  It's funny to see the Alabama Media who didn't report on the rumors of an affair because they didn't know what they didn't know, falling over themselves calling for Bentley's head on a platter.  That said, if Bentley is impeached, recalled, resigns, or is convicted, the alternative is not much better.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alabama Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey and a close circle of advisers are mapping out a transition plan in case Gov. Robert Bentley is compelled to resign from office, according to multiple Yellowhammer sources. The planning began in earnest last summer in the wake of Dianne Bentley, the governor’s wife of 50 years, filing for divorce.
After several months of relative quiet, the Lt. Governor’s office is back in preparation mode after audio surfaced of Governor Bentley having a romantic conversation with his senior advisor, Rebekah Mason.
EYE report.

You decide.
