Republican Governors Playing Partisan Politics with Peoples Lives #COVID19

Image

Governors in the red, republican, Confederate, slave states are showing they care more about appeasing Trump than they care about the people they were elected to represent, their states and their country by not ordering people to stay home.

People will die because of them

Someone's parents, grandparents, brothers or sisters will die

Sadly, people in those states are in for a very scary awakening.

The question facing us all now as citizens is whether or not the response of our country to a worldwide pandemic is being driven by the basic strategy of the Piranha Brothers. That is, whether or not the president* is withholding vital medical aid during a national health crisis for the purpose of muzzling criticism of his obvious incompetence, and for the auxiliary purpose of gaining political advantage in November’s election. If the answer to either of those questions is “yes,” then we have an unreconstructed monster running the country and there’s no telling what he might do next.

Now that America has an incompetent, dimwitted dictator as the head of the household, the Republican policy of plausible deniability has been ruined. The dunderheaded daddy of the GOP has exposed his party’s ultimate goal—maintaining their status as the sole beneficiaries of America’s corporate, economic and political profiteering

It looks like Nathaniel Woods isn’t the only person Gov. Kay Ivey is willing to put to death.

Throwback Thursday: No mooncat, Southern men aren't the problem with the GOP

#tbt  The more things change.....the more they don't.
The Republican Party has a terrible, perhaps fatal, case of indigestion.  It swallowed the Tea Party and now can neither digest it nor rid itself of the rancid meal.  Unfortunately, their indigestion is making all of America sick.
Robert Reich makes the case that we're in this mess because Angry, White, Southern Men Took Over the GOP and Made Our Government Into a War Zone:

If "democrats" are waging a war on whites, "democrats" sure aren't winning....
Community activist Sheila Tyson of Birmingham says that those hit hardest by the county sewer rate hike are near a breaking point."These people are going to end up rioting about this," she says. "If they let this stuff happen they are going to get the biggest riot the South has ever seen. Over this sewer business. I can see it coming."
 And the race baiting continues....

#WarOnWhites my Donkey.
The invisible foot is the foot that white people have on the necks of blacks, Native Americans and others. It is called invisible because whites say they do not see it.

RedEye's Week in Review

united-we-stand

"What's too painful to remember, we simply choose to forget", these lyrics from Barbra Streisand's Memories come to mind when I look back on the white washed commemoration of the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, in which 4 little girls and 2 forgotten little boys were murdered.  Lot's of photo ops, no substance.

The more things change, the more they stay the same Black folks are still being marginalized  today, tomorrow, and probably will be forever as long as  republicans control, the House of Representatives, the Supreme Court, and the Mainstream Media.

"Let not your heart be troubled."
You should not be troubled that George Zimmerman "got away" with the killing of Trayvon Martin, you should be troubled that you live in a country that ensures that Trayvon Martin will happen. Trayvon Martin is happening again in Florida. Right now:

If there is anything black people can understand it's the loss of life without justice.

This is one of those rare times I agree with Mo Brooks

A broke clock is right (no pun) twice a day.

"Lessons learned from War: 1.) The rich will profit from it, 2.) The Middle Class will pay for it. 3.) The Poor will suffer from it 4.) The Innocent will die from it....."

I must admit I was feeling helpless watching  some of the same ones that marched us to war in Iraq and Afghanistan, beating the Deja Voodoo drums all over again for war with Syria, but then Mo Brooks saved the day  issuing the following statement via his mouthpiece.
Dale Jackson @TheDaleJackson
Just got off the phone with @RepMoBrooks, he wants @BarackObama to wait until Congress returns in 10 days to debate military action in Syria
Hallelujah!  Here comes Congress to save the Day!  Everybody knows if President Barack Obama is for it, republicans are against it, and this is one of those rare times I agree with the TeaPublicans.  We shouldn't be spending money we don't have attacking Syria.  I bet even  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would be against drones dropping bombs on innocent people.

Maybe we should help the Syrian Refugees instead of killing Syrians
If, as Juan Cole recommends, Obama decides to pivot and move to diplomacy after losing British support, focusing on the plight of refugees and using our airlift to send them aid would be smart politics as well as good policy.
We have our own problems over here, I wish the Obama Administration would be as Hawkish about domestic issues as they are foreign affairs.

Shouldn't the problems in Detroit ChicagoNew Orleans health care and the economy come before killing more people in Syria?

Hell Yes, they should!

Motor City Slowdown Protests Emergency Management: Does EM Even Work?

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
A look at a survey by Marketing Resource Group-Inside Michigan Politics shows that "59 percent of likely Detroit voters either strongly oppose or somewhat oppose Gov. Rick Snyder's appointment of Emergency Financial Manager Kevin Orr, while 41 percent strongly or somewhat support it." Of course, surveying 600 residents in a pool of 5.2 million is hardly representative. But who did the survey and for what purpose is even more revealing: it's done by a political research group whose head, Tom Shields, speculated that "the results could mean more inner-city votes for Snyder if Orr succeeds in turning around Detroit's troubled finances."
Is there any irony in a governor who removed the right of voters to select their own leaders seeking the votes of the very people he disenfranchised?
Here's the actual survey question asked: "Last week, Governor Snyder appointed an Emergency Financial Manager to try to balance Detroit's books and bring the city out of a financial crisis. Emergency Managers have sweeping powers to overrule the mayor and city council, as well as unilaterally amend or cancel city employee union contracts. Detroit unions and city elected officials fear the State will privatize city public services, eliminate public sector jobs and usurp local authority. State officials say that an Emergency Manager is required because the city has implemented few reforms and is reluctant to take necessary steps to bring its finances under control. Do you support or oppose an Emergency Financial Manager for the city of Detroit? (IF FAVOR/OPPOSE ASK: Do you strongly (support/oppose) it or just somewhat (support/oppose) it?)"

Quick Drive By~Edit

Stopping by for a quick run down on some of  the current events you won't see on TeeVee, read in the newspaper, or hear on the radio.~RedEye

Speaking of the media we have, do you think  newspapers would bury the story of a black sheriff wishing death on former President George W. Bush or Vice President Dick Cheney?  Heck no, they wouldn't.

Can we have a majority leader who is not skeered of the right wing Bully's?  It's time to give Harry Reid the Hook.

Paging the black political class!  The Vampires aren't coming...they are already here!

Hello this is Hank Sanders, Alabama state Senator, and I’m still mad as hell. I say hell no! I ain’t going back to the cotton fields of Jim Crow days.   Psst!  Anderson Cooper and Left in Alabama...can you hear State Senator Hank Sanders now?

Memo to the GOP:    You may as well keep that $10 million dollars you plan to spend on minority outreach in your pockets.  Just because we are minorities doesn't mean we are stoopid.  We know the gop will never change.   Once a Pit Bull always a Pit Bull.

This week marks the 10th anniversary of O.I.L. (Operation Iraqi Liberation) when Bush and Dick  sent our troops to war based on DEAD WRONG INTELLIGENCE to look for WMD that was NOT there, without body armor, or an exit plan.

The Dixie Chicks were right (pun intended)
