In Ferguson, Tactics Set for Grand Jury Decision in Michael Brown Case
Now, with the grand jury’s decision expected in the coming days, the groups are preparing with intricate precision to protest the no-indictment vote most consider inevitable. Organizers are outlining “rules of engagement” for dealing with the police, circulating long lists of equipment, including bandages and shatterproof goggles, and establishing “safe spaces” where protesters can escape the cold — or the tear gas.
And they want us to sing God Bless America?
And the United States of America government, when it came to treating her citizens of Indian descent fairly, she failed. She put them on reservations. When it came to treating her citizens of Japanese descent fairly, she failed. She put them in internment prison camps. When it came to treating her citizens of African descent fairly, America failed. She put them in chains, the government put them on slave quarters, put them on auction blocks, put them in cotton field, put them in inferior schools, put them in substandard housing, put them in scientific experiments, put them in the lowest paying jobs, put them outside the equal protection of the law, kept them out of their racist bastions of higher education and locked them into positions of hopelessness and helplessness. The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing "God Bless America". No, no, no, not God Bless America. God damn America — that's in the Bible — for killing innocent people. God damn America, for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America, as long as she tries to act like she is God, and she is supreme. The United States government has failed the vast majority of her citizens of African descent.
No.  No.  And NO!

"I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin" because we both know if Wilson was a black officer we would never have heard of Ferguson.

FBI stats show that the No. 1 cause of death for black men 15-34 years old is murder by other black men. We do not march or protest this. WHY?

We both know if Wilson were a black police officer, and Mike Brown was a white unarmed teen, and Wilson executed him in the middle of the street in broad daylight, he would have been arrested on the spot, tried and convicted in a court of law, by a jury his peers. As he should.

Actually we don't know that would have happened. We have seen in Utah were a black police officer shot a white 20 year old only to have it deemed justifiable because Officer Bron Cruz though Dillon Taylor had a weapon on him. So no we don't know what would have happened if the races were reversed.

Well we know what happened in Ferguson.

We know Darren Wilson is white and Mike Brown was black.

We know Darren Wilson shot Mike Brown at least 10 times and killed him in the middle of the street in broad daylight.

We know Mike Brown was unarmed.

We know Mike Brown's body lay in the the street for 4 hours after he was executed.

We know Darren Wilson is still being paid and still in hiding.

We know the secret grand jury is expected not to indict Darren Wilson.

This is about what happened in Ferguson not some random case in Utah, and you wrong, we both know what would have happened if the races were reversed.

When did it become "At least 10 shots"? All three autopsies (county, independent, and federal) put it at six shots.

Yes, we do know now that Mike Brown was unarmed. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. The question we need to ask is did Darren Wilson know at the time that Mike Brown was unarmed.

We also know that prior to the shooting that Darren Wilson had asked for backup.

"Dispatch recordings indicate that Wilson called for backup at 12:02, saying "[Unit] 21. Put me on Canfield with two. And send me another car.""

Should Darren Wilson not be paid during the investigation when he has not been charged with anything as of yet?

We have video evidence of protestors saying "Who do we want? Darren Wilson! How do we want him? Dead!" More recently, we have groups offering cash rewards for the location of Darren Wilson.

As for why the body laid in the street for 4 hours, that has nothing to do with Darren Wilson and everything to do with the Medical Examiner. They are not supposed to move the body until the Medical Examiner determines he/she has everything they need from the body on site and releases it.

You said that we know what would have happened in Ferguson if the races were reversed and I presented the Utah case as a COUNTER-EXAMPLE. And no we don't know what would have happened if the races were reversed. We can ASSUME what would have happened if the races were reversed but we both know what happens when we make assumptions.

If Mike Brown had a gun he wouldn't have been running away from Darren Wilson (the police).

If Mike Brown had a gun he wouldn't have been trying to take Wilson gun as Wilson "claims".

If Mike Brown had a gun he would have used that gun after Darren Wilson fired the first shot.

What we know is Mike is dead. Mike Brown was unarmed. Darren Wilson shot and killed him, and there is no reasonable explanation as to WHY. That we know.

You are assuming Darren Wilson is innocent because he's white and a policeman. And we both know why you are willing to give Darren Wilson the benefit of a doubt, and why you refuse to give Mike Brown the same.

Brian said...

I am not assuming Darren Wilson is innocent. I am not assuming Darren Wilson is guilty. I am following the concept of innocent until proven guilty. I am looking at the evidence as it is present to us. I am willing go give Mike Brown the benefit of the doubt, but Dorian Johnson's account breaks down rather earlier for me and that makes me doubt the rest of his account and that is why Darren Wilson would try to pull Mike Brown into the car with him.

I cannot find any reasonable explanation as to why Darren Wilson would try to pull Mike Brown into the car with him. I can't find any reasonable explanation as why Darren Wilson would even try to grab Mike Brown while still in the car. I can't even find any police officer that could find any reasonable explanation on those points either.

As for a reasonable explanation as why Darren Wilson shot Mike Brown, what about the background conversation from one of the videos of the aftermath of the shooting where a witness talks about Mike Brown stopping, turning around, and moving towards Darren Wilson.

“How’d he get from there to here?” a bystander asked a man who claimed to have seen Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson shoot Brown.

“Because he ran,” said the witness.

“Police was still in the truck,” he described.

“Why his body come this way though?” the other man asked.

“He was like, over the truck, [garbled] so then he ran. Police got out, and ran after he him,” said the witness.

After running, the witness said that Brown stopped and turned back around.

“Next thing I know he’s coming back towards the police. The police had his gun drawn on him,” the witness said.

“Police kept dumping on him, I’m thinking that the police missed him,” he continued, saying that he heard “at least five shots” and saying that “police are…this far from him.”

“Next thing I know,” the witness said, “I think…dude start running, kept coming toward the police.”

There are more ways of being armed other than carrying a gun. I did not say Mike Brown was armed with a gun, I just said that there was no way for Darren Wilson to know if Mike Brown was unarmed.

You are defending Darren Wilson for shooting an unarmed teen in the middle of the street in broad daylight.

You are justifying Darren Wilson shooting and killing Mike Brown.

Own it.

Brian said...

BTW, you accuse me of not giving Mike Brown the benefit of the doubt.

Did you ever give Darren Wilson the benefit of the doubt?

If I felt Darren Wilson had murdered Mike Brown, I would be calling for his arrest.

If I am justifying Darren Wilson shooting and killing Mike Brown, it is because that is what evidence is leading me to believe.

Another BTW, if Bob McCullouch was so hated by the protestors in Ferguson, why didn't they organize a write in campaign against him rather than letting he run unopposed.

Did Darren Wilson ever give Mike Brown the benefit of a doubt?

What "evidence", not to be confused with right wing talking points, leads you to believe Darren Wilson was justified in shooting and killing an unarmed Mike Brown in the middle of the street in broad daylight?

Brian said...

There is far more evidence in favor of Darren Wilson than there is in favor of Mike Brown. Or are you confusing left wing talking points with evidence.

According to sources, there are eight eyewitnesses that confirmed Darren Wilson's version of what happened.

At least on one of the videos, there is a background conversation that can be heard where an eyewitness describes Mike Brown as stopping, turning around, and approaching Darren Wilson before he is shot.

We have the County Autopsy state that Mike Brown was not shot in the back. The expert independent autopsy originally said the same thing before he changed it.

We have pro-Mike Brown eyewitness testimony that contradicts each other as well as some testimonies that changed as new evidence came out.

We know that Darren Wilson did know about the convenience store robbery before he encountered Mike Brown. We know he call for backup after encountering Mike Brown.

Redeye said...

Still waiting for the factual evidence, and NO, "according to sources" is not factual evidence.

We know Darren Wilson shot and killed Mike Brown less than 2 minutes after the encounter.

We know Mike Brown was running away.

We know Mike Brown was unarmed.

We know Darren Wilson is still in hiding and still being paid.

We know Mike Brown is dead.

Brian said...

Eyewitness testimony is a form of according to a source, so by that logic, we don't really know that Mike Brown was running away. We don't have factual evidence that he was running away. We don't have factual evidence that Mike Brown raised his hands. We don't have factual evidence that Mike Brown was trying to surrender.

Do we have factual evidence that Darren Wilson is still being paid?

Do we have factual evidence that Darren Wilson KNEW that Mike Brown was unarmed?

Redeye said...

We do have factual evidence Darren Wilson shot and killed an unarmed Mike Brown in the middle of the street in broad daylight. What we don't know is why.
