Stuck on Stupid in Alabama " Thank God (Republicans) are in control of the Senate and the House." Richard Shelby says

Sweet Home Alabama, listed as one of the most corrupt states in the nation, already has one of the loosest gun restrictions in the country, but that wasn't good enough for the red, republican, controlled state legislation.  Nope.  They want to make it easier for children to walk around locked and loaded so they can whine about black on black crime, and have candlelight vigils for victims of gun violence.
To rectify this gap in the unstated “guns for everyone” mentality of Alabama’s Republican-led legislature, lawmakers have proposed an amendment to the state’s gun laws that would allow minors to acquire their very own pistols. At the moment, the law is on a bit more even keel, stipulating that “no person shall deliver a pistol to any person under the age of 18.” Lawmakers want that changed to allow minors to have pistols, but only if they get the permission of a “parent, guardian, or spouse who is 18 or older (?)”
And they wonder why police shoot first and ask questions later?
The bill, if passed, would also eliminate record-keeping requirements from the Code of Alabama, removing language that mandates firearm dealers "keep a permanent record of the sale of every pistol, revolver, or maxim silencer, showing the date of sale, serial number, or other identification marks, manufacturer's name, caliber and type, and also the name and address of the purchaser."
Who could possibly think this is a good idea?
The measure is sponsored by three state senators: Arthur Orr, Greg Reed and Clay Scofield (all Republicans). A matching House bill is being sponsored by Ed Henry, Micky Hammon, Barry Moore and Corey Harbison (all Republicans). It’s unclear why the group of lawmakers felt that kids needed additional relaxation of existing gun laws.

 God, please help America.
"This world will be a dangerous world - more dangerous than it is today. I hope that deal doesn't come through. If it does, Congress is going to speak on it and I believe we will turn it down. Thank God (Republicans) are in control of the Senate and the House."
I submit Sweet Home Alabama will be a dangerous state - more dangerous than it is today.
Bills like these may be a victory for the NRA, but they are, without a doubt, putting the lives of children in danger. How warped is the mentality of Alabama’s pro-gun lobby that they feel that kids need handguns? How many of Alabama’s children need to die before the “freedom” of a child to carry a pistol isn’t worth the sacrifice? These are questions Alabama lawmakers must answer.
I thought republicans were pro-life?
Republicans aren't pro-life. They are just pro-birth. And there's a big difference between the two.

RedEye's Snark Attack

Artur Davis punk'd Left in Alabama big time remix.  You knew it was coming...I can't help but snicker like Mutely watching the Cats and other Critters over at Left in Alabama ,who kicked me out of the Liter Box because I tried to tell them Artur Davis was a Corporate Bull Frog and  Poo Pot Punk,  doing backflips in an attempt to renounce, reject and repudiate their ahem  Chief Dis appointee,  so I thought I would compose this Artur Davis, Then and Now at Left in Alabama big Snark.

Isn't it ironic the GOP aims to say "see we like black people" by having two African American sellouts from Alabama on the stage at during their We hate Obama more than we love ourselves and our country hate fest, I mean convention in Tampa?  Meanwhile, it looks like Mitt's got a Mutiny going on among the House Slaves, I mean Negro Republicans.

Speaking of the GOP convention, I see the governors of Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and maybe Louisiana, are skipping the event because of Hurricane Issac.  All I'm going to say is if Issac blows through any of these states this week,  I better not see none them with their hand out asking for federal aid from President Barack Hussein Obama.

On the all politics is local front, this is what happens when the Huntsville City School Board and the competent white Superintendent, who replaced the inept black superintendent, panders to the right and the Huntsville Times berates those taxpayers who dare criticize/complain about their policies.  Is the children learning?  I think not, so, now that we know, what can/are we going to do about it? Start by reading this.

While I'm on the subject of education, I can't let the fact the State that can't shoot Straight, much to the delight of the anti-Alabama Education Association, Mayor William Bell, and Frank Matthews gang, decided they could do a better job of educating poor/black/brown students with a takeover of  the Birmingham City School System.  Mission Accomplished. Charter schools here we come.

Alabama State Senator Arthur Orr,(r. Decatur) sponsored a bill last week to remove discriminatory language regarding poll taxes and segregated schools from Alabama's 1901 constitution. Sounds goods on its face, right?

NOT.

"Ripped from today's headlines"~Update

Oops! Ex Gooberner Haley didn't follow the law when he released rapist and murders.  In Mississippi, identities of pardon applicants must be made public.

Remember the Scott sisters of Mississippi ,who were released from a prison after serving 16 years for a petty crime, on the condition one sister donate a kidney to the other?  Well, the Scott sisters didn't get a full pardon.  "I guess if I had been a murderer, he would have pardoned me."~Gladys Scott

Today's Must Read-Discrimination in Presidential Pardons

The title of today's post is ripped from the Law and Order television series. Join me as we go inside today's headlines.

M-i-s-s-i-s-s-i-p-p-i  Burning?   Ex Mississippi Governor Haley "Boss Hogs" Barbour  pardoned nearly 200 prisoners, 4 or whom are convicted killers, on his way out office.  Barbour didn't publicize the pardons, (I wonder why?) but defends them on the grounds they had good behavior while pouring drinks and serving food at the Governors Mansion.

Huh?  Convicted killers worked at the Governors mansion?  Why?  Because it's F-R-E-E labor or slavery by another name.  Barbour freed his slaves.  The only problem is, some of these slaves are also convicted killers and Barbour may have violated the states constitution.

I thought republicans were for law and order?  Snark  It's too bad Troy Anthony Davis didn't live in Mississippi...all he wanted was a new trial.  But I digress.

This illustrates what's wrong with the Convict-Lease System  republicans use to take the country back to the days of slavery and Jim Crow.  Convicts get job training and jobs while they are incarcerated but  can't hold once they are released, because they are convicted felons with a record.  Meanwhile, there are no such job training programs  for unemployed, law abiding citizens.  Inmates  jobs and training, law abiding citizens, nothing.   What's wrong with this picture?

It should come as no surprise the majority of Mississippi' voters passed a voter ID bill in November to disenfranchise minority voters so folks like Barbour can keep getting elected.

White man fighting Obama candidacy ask black Jefferson County Judge to step aside due to racial bias.  Sweet Home Alabama...where the skies are blue and the people are bible thumping, suckers who hate President Obama in the name of the Lord.  Enough said.

A GOP Civil War is breaking out in the State of  Alabama, it's TeaPublican vs TeaPublican in Alabama's 6th Congressional district.  Y'all can bet your Donkey's it's going to get U-G-L-Y.. got popcorn?

Meanwhile, on the democratic side, C.L. Holley goes where skeered white democrats fear to go.  Tired of waiting for Alabama democratic party insiders to field a candidate to run against republican Congress Critter Mo "I'll do anything short of shooting them" Brooks, C. L. Holley stepped up to the plate to offer CD-5 DEMOCRATS (not to be confused with progressives) an alternative  in November. I admire and applaud his courage.  For those who say he can't win I say Poppycock!  If we vote for him he will win.  Yes we can fire Mo Brooks!
