Saturday Quick Rant

Psst Lee High School Students in this picture! Occupy Huntsville could use your help and enthusiasm. How about protesting something that will have an effect on your future?

I feel sorry for taxpaying parents of black/brown/poor Huntsville City School students. The powers that be, enabled by the media, care more about a school name change than educating and molding young minds to become productive members of society. And we wonder why there is a school to prison pipeline, and why those who can flee the HCS as fast as they can to the detriment of the those who can't.

Poverty and Death for thee but not for me. Says United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, a Catholic. For all of my friend who are planning not to vote in November, think about this. The only thing standing between us and more Antonin Scalia's, Clarence Thomas's, John Roberts' and Samuel Alito's is Barack Hussein Obama. It's the Supreme Court, I won't call you stupid because you're not. There is a difference in being mad and disappointed and being stupid. People who are stuck on stupid are those who hate President Obama/democrats/liberals/ more than they love themselves.

Let me see if I have this right (pun intended), the same party who impeached President Clinton for trying to conceal a private, consensual, sexual affair, and a Supreme Court who allowed Paula Jones to bring a sexual harassment lawsuit against a sitting President now has the attitude that sexually harassed women had it coming?

There is more than a whiff of hypocrisy.

"There is more than a whiff of hypocrisy."

For conservatives, it's only good practice.

I wonder how many of the students in that picture are 18 and registered to vote?

What a fantastic and informative series on the Huntsville schools. This is absolutely the best of Redeye!

Each and every public school system in the US is where government, politics and the people converge at its most primal.

People today pay most attention when it becomes an economic issue, that is attempts to raise money through increased taxes. They are deluged daily with negative reports of performance, behavior, 'union' costs - and vote to throw no more money into a failed system.

The demographic group most invested should be the parents of children in that system. However, most of these parents are also least likely to be involved in political activities, including voting.

We all need to follow Redeye's lead and recognize most of the political issues we debate are right here in front of us on a daily basis. Even if you have no children in your local school, you do have a voice and input as to how the next generation will be educated, and become productive citizens in our society, and yes support us in our old age and retirement. Just as we support the generation ahead of us.

We have to make an investment in our future, not let it wither on the vine as the conservative agenda wishes.

We have to actively safeguard the future of America in opposition to the people who don't care about America, but only themselves and the money in their pocket.

What keeps republican'ts in power is the ignorance and manipulation of just enough people to make a difference. We have to stop this!

Great journalistic work, Redeye! You do make a difference!
