Update ~ EYE want my Daggum Democratic Party Back! Can EYE Rant?

H/T ca democrat via Daily Kos

One Pissed Off Liberal writes:

I'm a Tom Joad democrat, a prison reform democrat, an anti-poverty democrat and a pro-justice democrat - so the party left me a long time ago...and they never looked back as they went chasing after the fat checkbook crowd. The few indisputably good things the party has done, such as the war on poverty and support for the civil rights movement, recede into the distant past as a brave new world emerges in which we are left to wonder just what IS the difference between neocons and neolibs, and whether democrats bombing the world in an unending war orgy is any better than repubs doing the exact same thing.
Today's democrats are yesterday's republicans.
Democrats (not all of them of course, but enough of them) enabled the Bush administration in some of the worst crimes against humanity in modern history: the illegal invasion of Iraq, the shameful atrocities at Abu Ghraib, Bagram, Guantanamo and elsewhere, kidnappings, torture, murders, assassinations, double-taps such as that shown in the Chelsea Manning video and on and on.
Justice delayed is justice denied.
My judgment is especially harsh for the Democratic Party because the whole world looked to them for justice and were denied. Justice is what we owed the world. JUSTICE!
The prospect of a Republican freak out is no excuse for Democrats not pursuing justice. We're always crowing about what a great nation we are – but we can't even manage to bring our own worst and most public in-your-face criminals to justice.
EYE said it once, and EYE say it again.  The Democratic party has been infiltrated by reactionary/New Dems/Blue Dogs/ Centrist/Conservadems/Moderates, and hell knows who/what else to promote neo liberal (aka conservative) ideas.
In addition to conservative infiltrators the democratic party has so called "moderates, centrist, center" who try and walk a thin line down the middle of the party. We don't know if they are pro choice or anti choice. We don't know if they are pro civil rights or anti civil rights. We don't know what the heck they stand for. They are in the middle whatever the heck that means. My daddy says the only thing down the middle of the road is a yellow line. Moderates are afraid to take a position one way or another because they don't know what side of the road they are on.
The definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again,  hoping for a different result.
We’re “absolutely unified on three essential messages going forward: It’s middle class, middle class, middle class,” said Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.), who had just surveyed 90 Democratic members about what they want to see in 2016. “Everybody agreed that it has to be about the middle.”
Who the heck is "Everybody" Rep. Steve Isreal, Sir?  Blue Dogs and New Dems who vote with the republicans and have no connection to the traditional democratic base?  The traditional democratic base they use to get elected, then throw under the bus?
Davis panders to the right, who are wrong about everything, to the detriment of the, as he calls them,  democratic base(women, minorities, labor, public school teachers, civil rights leaders,African American political organizations). You know, the traditional democratic base that marched, bleed and died to change Alabama. The traditional democratic base that made it possible for him to be the sitting Congressman from the 7th district (which includes the black belt) of Alabama.
Enough.  It's time for real Democrats to stand their ground, and for those who don't support the Democratic platform 100% to go.  Those who believe a half an A$$ is better than no A$$ need to find another party.  Just because someone say's they are a democrat , doesn't mean they are democrat.

Real democrats are pro equal, civil, and human rights.  Real democrats support a woman's right to choose to have a safe legal abortion.  Real democrats support public education, public school teachers, and labor.  Real democrats support equal rights for LBGT citizens.  Real democrats are proud, unashamed, Birkenstock wearing, Hybrid car driving, tree hugging, anti war, anti poverty, card carrying, flag waving,  LIBERALS.
What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label "Liberal?" If by "Liberal" they mean, as they want people to believe, someone who is soft in his policies abroad, who is against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer's dollar, then the record of this party and its members demonstrate that we are not that kind of "Liberal." But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."
If you can't support all of the above, you are with them, and against us.
Independents are really republicans who are ashamed to call themselves republicans.
I'm sick and tired of cowardly Dems.

RedEye Rant Over and Out.  For now.

If President Obama had listened to the "Professional Left" we wouldn't be in this mess

According to Liz Sidoti and Jeffinfer Aglesta the results of the midterm election are proof Obama's party is in trouble with independents. I don't know why Obama's party is in trouble with so called "independents", he did everything but bend over and kiss their rear ends.
Near the midpoint of his presidency, Barack Obama's diverse voter coalition reveals giant cracks and he faces major work repairing his standing among independents in states crucial to his re-election chances. Catholics. Older people. Women. Young adults. They shifted toward Republicans in this month's elections and failed to support Obama's Democratic Party as they did in 2008.

Two years before voters render judgment on his tenure, Obama's most critical task may be winning back those who aren't affiliated with a party but who hold enormous sway in close contests. National exit polls from the midterm elections show these voters broke heavily for Republicans after helping elect Obama and Democrats in the two previous elections.
Psst President Obama! Independents are really republicans who are ashamed to call themselves republicans. They are not, and will never be your friend. You stand for everything thing they oppose. You need to stop listening to the gaggle heads and listen to us Professional Leftys. You need to surround yourself with some real Political Scientist and kick the clueless consultants and their enablers to the curb.
Watching CNN's gaggle of idiots – and I do mean gaggle, as there were at least 15 of them rotating through an archipelago of tables while Anderson Cooper was forced to play ringmaster – "explain" the election last Tuesday was enough to drive me to drink. They were absolutely obsessed with thematic explanations and sweeping claims of mandates and referendums. A referendum on health care reform. On Obama. On government spending. A mandate for Change. For the Tea Party. For John Boehner. A sign of voters' anger. Or their fears. Or their desperation. Or their impatience. Basically they did what the media do best – vomit a dozen explanations at the camera and let viewers pick whichever they most prefer.
The blue dogs and their progressive enablers just don't get it.
And that is the real story of the 2010 elections. Blue Dogs have traditionally won by voting in such a business-friendly way that they can swamp their opponents with corporate cash. This year, Karl Rove made sure their opponents were competitive. So, without a huge cash advantage, they had to run on their records. And their records sucked, because they wouldn't defend the good their party had done, and they actually bad-mouthed what their party had done. If I'm a socially conservative person of modest means, the only way I'm voting for the Democrat is if it's clear to me that he or she is going to side with me against the fat cats who ruined the economy.
One thing I can say about the gop, they vote for candidates who share their ideology regardless of the color or their skin. Modern day Minstrel show here we come.
Defying the odds, West and Scott were the only two winners of the 32 black Republican candidates seeking seats in the U.S. House this year. By surviving, they are poised to command the spotlight as soon as they arrive in Washington. No doubt they will be in great demand by conservative television and talk radio, offering up living proof that the GOP has a drop of melanin in its lily-white portrait. Scott, in particular, landed a plumb assignment within the first week of his victory. He’s one of three incoming freshmen legislators appointed to the 22-member transition team that will craft House rules under the Republican leadership.

West and Scott are far-right conservatives who owe their seats to the Tea Party and its princess, Sarah Palin, who endorsed both of them. This will complicate their mission. They must embrace the Tea Party and the far-right wing of the GOP as it pushes traditionalists within the House leadership to the extremist margins of politics. All of this drama promises to make West and Scott must-see political theater.
Nancy Pelosi is the hero of the Professional Left because she stood up for our core values. Maybe that's why every DINO who ran against her LOST, why democrats lost the House, and almost lost the Senate.
You are not going to keep a majority if you don’t have core principles that the people know you are going to fight for. And they can’t be core principles that some will fight for; it has to be everyone or no one.
If there is one lesson democrats need from the midterm massacre its play to win. Another is don't throw your base under the bus and expect them to vote for you.
If the Republicans are so dumb, why are they winning? Clearly, the “know-thing” party understands some things a lot better than the Democrats – including the actual workings of race and racism in America. Meanwhile, the Democrats seem incapable of self-help. “Just one legislative triumph for working people would have been enough to give Democrats a margin for victory.”
The political landscape is dismal but I am not without hope. I am hopeful because we can still be resourceful. I am hopeful because we can still be creative. I am hopeful because we can still serve, taking what we have and making what we need. It is this hope with which I go forth to serve during this exacting moment in history.

EPILOGUE – Every victory contains the seeds of defeat. Every defeat contains the seeds of victory. We just have to find the seeds of victory, create the conditions so they will germinate, sprout and grow. Then we must cultivate them until they bear future fruits of victory.
~AL State Senator Hank Sanders

The White Backlash has arrived. The gop infused, media enabled Tea Party managed to turn Hope for Change we can believe in to a black president leading the charge to eviscerate Medicare, Medicaid and social security in the name of “deficit reduction,”.

We Professional Lefty's tried to tell you. Can you hear us now?

Psst President Obama! Waterloo.

It's time to kick some A$$ and take control of the right wing media narrative. Right now internal polls are showing the gop/infused Tea Party is going to beat the crap out of democrats in the mid term elections because they have managed to fire up a segment of the American people who would rather not have access to health care, tax cuts for the rich, and all war all the time than have a democratic, African American President. It's the old bite off your nose to spite your face syndrome.
Line the Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads and the White House Press Corp up, make them bend over, go down the line kicking them in their a$$e$ for using the public airways to distort what we decide by lying and misinforming we the peeps. Then go back up the line and kick their a$$e$ for the lack of diversity in the MSM. In case you haven't noticed, the MSM and the White House Press Corps is ALL white and that's not right (pun intended). It's the media Mr. Obama. They want you to fail. He/she who controls the information controls the outcome. You need to take control of the information Sir.

Seriously Mr. President, it's time to send in the A Team, because the B Team has been a miserable failure.
Obama has regularly snubbed progressives, from health care to jobs, from Copenhagen to Afghanistan, from civil liberties to the Employee Free Choice Act.

It hasn’t been a winning strategy.

If Obama had been more progressive, unemployment would’t be so high, foreclosures wouldn’t be at record levels, he wouldn’t be bogged down in Afghanistan, he and other Democrats would be in a much better position politically.

But really, being even more timid ain't gonna cut it. You are beginning to look like a Deer caught in the headlights. No more Mister Nice Negro, the right takes your kindness for weakness. Quit worrying about keeping your job and do your job. Don't be skeered.

Barack Obama deserves credit for turning the country in a more positive direction following the disastrous George W. Bush presidency. Obama has taken steps forward in several key areas--economic recovery, health-care reform, and financial regulation.

But the Obama record, so far, has not been nearly as strong as it could have been. And based on three major news stories from the past two weeks, we are starting to think there is a fundamental reason for that: The Obama administration is terrified of white people.

Stop worrying about what ads the gop infused, media enabled Tea Party will run against you. As a matter of fact they should be worried about what ads you are going to run against them. We had your back in 2008, we'll have your back in 2010 if you give us a reason to get out and vote.

We didn't vote for more of the same old stuff in 2008, we voted for CHANGE and HOPE we can believe in. Remember? I want to stop hoping for change but to see some change. F%$k the white/moderates/independents. They are not going to vote for you unless you morph into a republican. If we had wanted a republican in office we would have voted for John McSame as Bush and Sarah Pit bull Quaylin.

Booman has some campaign advice for you;
We need a showdown with the Republicans in Congress, and we need it to be over the economy. We also need some sweeteners to put everyone in a good mood. So, appoint Elizabeth Warren. And then make the Republicans obstruct on the economy, and throw an almighty fit about it.

The Republicans will do the rest themselves as they pander to their crazy base in their effort to pull them all out of woodwork (and the loony bins) and get them to the polls. When our side sees the spectacle, they'll be plenty motivated. Show some fight, pass out some goodies, and let's get it on.

And while you're at it, kick the DINO's to the curb quick, fast and in a hurry before they drag us down into the abyss;
It is time to purge the corporatist from the Democratic power structure. The real work of the Democratic Party is done by grassroots activists. These activists are the Democratic Party. They should run it at every level.

The Big Tent meme is just a load of Bull if everyone in the tent is fighting against each other.

But instead of clear, straightforward statements from Obama taking on reactionaries, he has to tread carefully, because the Big Tent includes Rahm Emanuel and whatever's left of his sleazy Wall Street cronies, and it includes reflexive and cowardly conservatives like Blanche Lincoln and Ben Nelson, and it includes all those Blue Dogs whose default position is to just wait and see what John Boehner does and follow suit. So instead of the powerful and compelling messaging of Richard Trumka and Congressional Progressive Caucus Chairman Raul Grijalva, we get a Democratic Party at war with itself, wrangling over issues as basic as Choice, tax cuts for millionaires, protecting Social Security and equality.

So Mister President, the ball is in your court. Are you going to give the right wing media their wish and be a miserable failure like your predecessor, or, are you going to kick A$$ and take names like you did during the 2008 campaign? What ever you're going to do, you better hurry, because times a wasting.

And before the "there shall be no criticism of Obama" gang cranks up let me say this; It's not about Obama the person, it's about policy and government. I like Obama as a person, but he is not our King, he is our President. We elected him to work for us, not the other way around. If we don't like his policies it is our duty and our right to tell him. What CanyonWren said all the damn way!
It's OUR JOB as citizens to vociferously demand what we elected our President to do. To sit back and just trust an elected official, any elected official, is not what a representative democracy is designed to do. The President is propelled by Congress, which is propelled by us. If we are not aggressive in what we want and need from our elected officials we are pawns in our own lives, and in our futures.

So, I, as a Democrat and US citizen, ask--no, demand--that our Democratic elected officials get off their asses and start telling Americans what is really happening. And, I demand that the President live up to his promises. Because that's why worked countless hours to get them into office, and why I voted for them.

So, Mr. President, your Mission between now and November should you decide to accept is to make the case to the American public that the GOP and every single Tea Party candidate out there is to be blamed for everything that ails our country.

The gop/Billionaire infused Tea Party is determined to make passing Health Care Reform your Waterloo, just like they made failing to pass Health Care Reform former President Clinton's Waterloo. That's why it's time to call in the Professional Left. Send in Howard Dean, Dennis Kuchinich, Alan Grayson, former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, former Vice President Al Gore and others who are not afraid to stand up to the white wing bullies and Tallking TeeVee Pundit Heads. Not to be mean or anything but Christina Romer reminds me of Edith Bunker, Robert Gibbs reminds me of Gomer Pyle, and David Axelrod reminds me of Lurch. They are nice people, just not effective communicators on TeeVee. As a matter of fact with the exception of Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton there are very few effective communicators in your administration. Therein lies the problem. Maybe I watched too much West Wing, but that's the kind of democratic administration I voted for in November of 2008.

If the gop infused Tea Party regains control of the government it won't be your Waterloo it will be We the People's Waterloo.

You wanna know whose A$$ to kick Mr. Obama?

If I may be so bold, let me name a few......

You can start with a swift kick in the a$$ of the Attorney General, Eric Holder. He needs to, as the late great James Browns sang,  get on the good foot, and start investigating, indicting, and incarcerating all the crooks and liars who drove our country into the ditch, restoring honesty, integrity and trust to the U.S. department of InJusticelike you promised to do.

Know Justice.
Know Peace.
No Justice.
No Peace.

Open up a big ole can of kick a$$ on David Axelrod, Rham Emanuel,Robert Gibbs, your staff and your entire cabinet for advising you to kick your base in the a$$ and play nice with republicans. Ask your Harvard bud and soon to be former Congressman Artur Davis how that worked out for him. I'm sure his a$$ is still smoking from the mega a$$ kicking he received June 2.

I don't know what you are waiting for to kick BP and Haliburtons a$$e$. They need a good a$$ kicking just because IMHO. You can start by fining them out the a$$ until the oil spill is plugged. I'll bet they get off their a$$es and do something then.

Kick Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen a$$ to the curb replace him with General Russel Honore's a$$. Honore is ready willing and able to kick some a$$e$ for you. Delegate the a$$ kicking Mr. Obama.

Put your size 13 up the a$$e$ of the blue dogs/DINO's and don't take it out until they pass a jobs bill and start representing the people who sent them to Washington. Remind them they work for we the people, not the other way around.

I'm sure I'll think of some more a$$es for you to kick, but this should get you started.

Get the kicking Mr. Obama.
