The Real Scandal in #SweetHomeAlabama is not the #TeamBentley divorce

Bentley Screengrab 2.JPG
"Did you lie to your wife?"
Again, EYE could care less about the scandalous rumors swirling around about Bentley's divorce, and believe me there are plenty.  It's the hypocrisy and the projection...A way to transfer guilt for your own thoughts, emotions, and actions onto another as a way of not admitting your guilt to yourself.

Remember  the so-called IRS scandal, when republicans accused the Obama administration of targeting conservative tax-exempt organizations
It's strange how "scandal" gets defined these days in Washington. At the moment, everyone is screaming about the "scandal" of the Internal Revenue Service scrutinizing conservative nonprofits before granting them tax-exempt status.
Here are the genuine scandals in this affair: Political organizations are being allowed to masquerade as charities to avoid taxes and keep their donors secret, and the IRS has allowed them to do this for years.
Fast forward to 2015 and what we know now about the Bentley administration.
February 2015 – Cooper Shattuck, general counsel for the University of Alabama board of trustees and Bentley's former legal adviser, forms Alabama Council for Excellent Government, a 501c4 group formed to promote Gov. Bentley's tax increase proposals. Shattuck said the organization was formed at Bentley's request but it is not known where the funds to start the group originated. As a 501c4, ALGOV does not have to report its funding sources or expenditures.
This is the real scandal
Lost in all the sordid rumor and implication is a rock-solid fact.
Rebekah Caldwell Mason, a chief adviser to the governor of the state of Alabama, is paid by unknown entities with money funneled through an opaque non-profit. And that shadowy operation – it doesn't have to reveal its donors -- is set up by people connected to the state's most powerful and politically aggressive institutions.
EYE report
The real scandal is that:
The IRS has interpreted our tax laws to allow big corporations and wealthy individuals to make unlimited secret campaign donations through sham political fronts called “social welfare organizations,” like Karl Rove’s “Crossroads,” the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and “Priorites USA.”
This campaign money has been used to bribe Congress to keep in place tax loopholes like the “carried interest” rule that allows the managers of hedge funds and private equity funds to treat their income as capital gains, subject only to low capital gains taxes rather than ordinary income taxes, and other loopholes that allow CEOs to get special tax treatment on giant compensation packages that now average $10 million a year.

Jesus, save us from your followers....

CAAP

From the files of they must think we are stoopid in Sweet Home Alabama.
A group of Christian pastors will present an award named for the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Letter from Birmingham Jail Friday to Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, in recognition of his efforts to stop same-sex marriage in Alabama.
I kid you NOT.

First of all, the so called "group of Christian pastors" consist of three, count them, three African American "pastors" and the "grassroots group" is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization based in Nevada.
We appreciate your financial support. Because we are 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, donations are tax-deductible.* If you would like to contribute to our efforts, please click here or mail your check to the address below. Thanks!

*The Coalition of African American Pastors is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  Your donations to The Coalition of African American Pastors may be tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.  No goods or services were received in exchange for any contributions.  You should consult a tax advisor regarding any tax deductions.
Remember the IRS "Scandal"?
The IRS has interpreted our tax laws to allow big corporations and wealthy individuals to make unlimited secret campaign donations through sham political fronts called “social welfare organizations,” like Karl Rove’s “Crossroads,” the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and “Priorites USA.”
The real story can be found in the Al.com comment section
Note too that the "Coalition of African American Pastors" is part of the anti-gay hate group NOM's "wedge strategy" to drive a wedge between certain minority groups.   Bill Owens is literally on NOM's payroll
About "Pastor" William Owens...
Over the past few weeks major news outlets have largely failed to identify Rev. William Owens – head of the recently-formed Coalition of African-American Pastors (CAAP) – as a key player in the National Organization for Marriage’s (NOM) race-baiting strategy, treating him instead as a legitimate representative of the black faith community’s position on marriage equality.
Owens garnered national attention in July after criticizing President Obama for endorsing same-sex marriage, comparing him to Judas for allegedly betraying black voters who supported him in 2008. He also weighed in on the Chick-fil-A debate by comparing opposition to the fast food giant to racism during the Civil Rights Movement.
Since making his controversial remarks, Owens has played the role of spokesperson for the African American community on Fox News, Fox Business, and CNN, as well as in a number of major news articles.
.
Oh the irony (for lack of a better word) of African American "pastors"aiding and abetting the co-opting of Martin Luther King's Letter from the Birmingham Jail to promote bigotry and justify marriage discrimination.
One of the worst things about being a dead famous person is the general public's propensity to put words in your mouth to serve their own agendas. It happens all the time with Jesus, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and now, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
What Tee Up said all the darn way!
The most disgusting part of this whole scam that moore and his "followers" are pulling of is that the media laps it up and gives them exactly what they want.
RedEye, stomping way from the computer to go pray for my my state, my country, and the world.

While you're watching that nice lady whine about being persecuted...

No More Mister Nice Blog

I hope the conversation isn't limited to how mean the IRS was to her and how much she loves freedom and the Constitution and our American way of life. I hope she gets around to talking about the speech her fourteen-year-old daughter, Desiree, delivered to a tea party rally last year, in which she compared modern-day America to the dystopia of The Hunger Games:

Gee, 14 year old Desiree sounds just like Alabama Congress Critter Mo Brooks.....they must have the same speech writer.

I see the Righty's are gearing up for a giant sized, media enabled, Weapon of Mass Distraction....
The new and re-energized Alabama Democrat party is going to kickoff the 2014 election cycle with a June 14 caravan across the state featuring … Louis Farrakhan. Maybe they can keep him in Alabama and offer him the party chairmanship.
Waiting for the "media" to make it about Louis Farrakhan instead of the reason Louis Farrakhan and other Civil Rights leaders are coming to Sweet Home Alabama in 1-2-3...
Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and others are planning a caravan across Alabama on June 14 to encourage the U.S. Supreme Court to save a major portion of the Voting Rights Act.
Southern Christian Leadership Conference CEO Charles Steele said the National Coalition of Leaders to Save Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act is also calling on Justice Antonin Scalia to step aside from the court case because of public comments he made. The leaders, including state Sen. Hank Sanders and Alabama Democratic Conference Chairman Joe Reed, said the caravan will start at the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham on June 14 and then visit Shelby County, which brought the challenge to the Voting Rights Act. That will be followed by stops in Selma and at the Capitol in Montgomery.
And what exactly were those public comments you ask?
WASHINGTON, DC — There were audible gasps in the Supreme Court’s lawyers’ lounge, where audio of the oral argument is pumped in for members of the Supreme Court bar, when Justice Antonin Scalia offered his assessment of a key provision of the Voting Rights Act. He called it a “perpetuation of racial entitlement.”
Then there is this....
Speaking on Friday at the University of Richmond, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia denounced the concept of a "living Constitution" and said the 14th Amendment was not written with the intent of granting equal protection to ALL Americans. Just the heterosexual ones.
 But, but Louis Farrakhan...

Today's Must Read about the IRS Scandal because you won't hear about it on TeeVee

Louisville Tea Party Endorsements

I'm beginning to think President Obama may have apologized too soon for the so called IRS targeting of "conservative groups" after reading this in depth, investigative report by the Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights detailing the actual facts of the case.
"A May 14 draft report by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration found that none of the 296 questionable applicants had been denied, “For the 296 potential political cases we reviewed, as of December 17, 2012, 108 applications had been approved, 28 were withdrawn by the applicant, none had been denied, and 160 cases were open from 206 to 1,138 calendar days (some crossing two election cycles).” (p. 14)
In fact, the only known 501(c)(4) applicant to recently have its status denied happens to be a progressive group: the Maine chapter of Emerge America, which trains Democratic women to run for office. Although the group did no electoral work, and didn’t participate in independent expenditure campaign activity either, its partisan nature disqualified it from being categorized as working for the “common good.”
"Rather than the so-called scandal cooked up by Tea Party groups, the real criticism of the IRS may be that it has let so many of these groups get away with what are apparently egregious violations. "

I report.
You decide.

RedEye's Week In Review

RacistObamaPic27

Republicans fabricated evidence on Benghazi to win a political battle with the black man in the White House
Instead of following Rush Limbaugh’s lead and his hatred for that “negro in the White House”, Republicans should try embracing diversity, stop the obstructionism, and get back to work. President Obama is not that “Kenyan, socialist, secret Muslim, dictator” in the White House. He’s our President, elected by a majority of us Americans; one of only 6 presidents to have been elected twice with at least 51% of the popular vote. Its the will of the American people. Its time to accept it and move on. Or, you could continue down your wrong-headed path and be the best fundraisers the Democratic Party ever had. By the time you’re through, the 2014 election will look like 2006.
Over half of U.S. Households Have an Inadequate income but the media enabled, Confederacy of Dunces are focused on umbrellagate, and turning the IRS controversy into a scandal of epic proportions, instead of telling we the public what we need to know instead of what they don't want us to know.

Today's Must Read
In the South, a love a guns and a loss of life, gun violence in black and white
Between 2001 and 2010, 4,519 people were killed by guns here, more than a thousand more losses than U.S. combat troops suffered during the Iraq War. More than 75% of those victims were African-American. Haunted by the losses, members of the Black Caucus try again and again to introduce some measure of gun control legislation.
But their efforts are always thwarted while a far more powerful group of Republicans and white Democrats stokes Louisiana’s love affair with guns.
What I'm working on
With an Alabama Democratic Majority like this who needs an Alabama Republican Majority?

Stay tuned.
