Be a Sucker. Vote Republican.

H/T jobsanger, who reminds us there are two kinds of republicans, millionaires and Suckers. If millionaires convince you to vote against your self interest you are a Sucker. The millioniares are betting against America .  Suckers always fall for the Okey Doke .  Suckers can be counted on to hate President Obama more than they love themselves.

Is there a method to Mo's madness or just madness?

The Space Shuttle Enterprise being tested at Marshall Space Flight Center during 1978.
I keep thinking Mo can't embarrass Alabama and the 5th Congressional District any more, then BAM!  So, now Alabama's GOP Congress Critter Mo Brooks offers a plan to impeach President Obama over budget deficits.  I kid you NOT.
Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) on Monday offered up a constitutional amendment which would make failure to balance the nation’s budget an impeachable offense.
Brooks’ outlandish proposal calls for a balanced budget within five years, after which time federal spending could not exceed federal revenue.
Does Mo need a Civics lesson?  Doesn't he know CONGRESS controls the purse strings?  Maybe there is a method to Mo's madness...... but if the top employer in your state, not to mention your district, is the United States Military, do you really want to go around calling the Commander in Chief a Socialist, and threaten to impeach him because he won't cut spending on Medicaid and Social Security?

As a matter of fact the top five employers in the state of Alabama are the GOVERNMENT
The state has invested in aerospace, education, health care, banking, and various heavy industries, including automobile manufacturing, mineral extraction, steel production and fabrication. By 2006, crop and animal production in Alabama was valued at $1.5 billion. In contrast to the primarily agricultural economy of the previous century, this was only about 1% of the state's gross domestic product. The number of private farms has declined at a steady rate since the 1960s, as land has been sold to developers, timber companies, and large farming conglomerates.[125] Occupations outside of agriculture were widespread by 2008. Employment in that year was 121,800 in management occupations; 71,750 in business and financial operations; 36,790 in computer-related and mathematical occupation; 44,200 in architecture and engineering; 12,410 in life, physical, and social sciences; 32,260 in community and social services; 12,770 in legal occupations; 116,250 in education, training, and library services; 27,840 in art, design and media occupations; 121,110 in healthcare; 44,750 in fire fighting, law enforcement, and security; 154,040 in food preparation and serving; 76,650 in building and grounds cleaning and maintenance; 53,230 in personal care and services; 244,510 in sales; 338,760 in office and administration support; 20,510 in farming, fishing, and forestry; 120,155 in construction and mining, gas, and oil extraction; 106,280 in installation, maintenance, and repair; 224,110 in production; and 167,160 in transportation and material moving.[8]

I mean, really?  Is this just another one of your political stunts to rile up your base to prevent productive work from occurring, or, do you really believe you are helping to bring jobs to our district, our state, and our country?  Republicans control the House of Representatives.  Seems like to me if republicans really wanted a balanced budget we would have one.

Biting off your nose to spite your face Mr. Brooks?

Attention White People....You can NOT use the N word

You just can't.  I don't know why it's so hard for some of you to understand why black folks can use the N word but  you can't, but let me see if I can break it down for you.

The N word is a noun in the English lexicon used by white peoples as an ethnic slur  to describe black people.

The N word is a noun in the English lexicon used by black people to describe each other, negatively or positively.
The word these days basically is equal to "guy", "man", or "dude." At least that's how *I* think of it. For example, rarely will you see girls referred to as n**gas. Only males are called this. Then there's a broader use of the word where it simply means "a black person." I think this use of the word was common during slavery, it wasn't considered offensive. Even after slavery ended, blacks still referred to each other as n*** because they were used to the word. Of course, since this word was common during slavery, some racists began to use to word to mean "slave" or "inferior person." Anyway, it's generally assumed that when a white person says it, they are trying to be rude or insult the person. That's why some people get offended. I don't buy into the whole "trying to take a bad word and make it good" idea. If that were the case, then why don't they call themselves other racist names? After all, there are numerous insulting names for people of African descent, yet n*** is the only word used. It's hard to get a group of people to stop using a word that they've been using it for so long. That would be like trying to get Australians to stop saying "mate."
Here is a list of acceptable nouns you can use as code for the N word.

Muslim
Socialist
Radical Islam
Buffoon
Idiot
Moron

Feel free to use the N word  if you so choose, but remember there may be consequences  for doing so.

Any questions?

Non Apologetic "Socialist"

Let's just cut to the chase and stop the pretense. The words Socialist and Socialism didn't appear in our lexicon until Barack Hussein Obama was elected President of the United States of America. Calling him a Socialist is an acceptable slur because calling him the N word is not.

Former MSNBC Host Carlos Watson said it first which is probably why he's a former MSNBC host.

What concerns me is that in some of those town hall meetings including the one we saw in Missouri recently where there were jokes made about lynching etc, you start to wonder whether in fact the word socialist is becoming a code word, whether or not socialist is becoming the new N-Word for frankly for some angry upset birthers and others, I hope that’s not the case, but that sure does say to you what David Brooks said the other day on T.V. which is that more credible conservatives have to stand up and say there’s a line that has to be drawn, that there’s a line of responsibility, that’s important that extends to the words we choose including how choose even legitimate words like “socialist…
Calling his agenda Socialism is an acceptable slur because it's code for lazy, shiftless, baby making, black folks that want the government to take care of them (social programs). Rush, Sean and the other Lords of Loud use the public airways define Socialism as the use of taxes and government entitlements (welfare) to redistribute wealth from the rich(white) to the poor (black/brown). If the media we had would do it's JOB and use the public airways to inform the public instead of keeping the dumb bigots in line we wouldn't be in this mess.
The media who can talk at nauseam about balloon boy, can’t seem to put together a complete educational story about crap that really matters. Instead the media, and their overpaid experts, who opine about everything irrelevant, have yet to correct or educate anyone on one broken record statement; “Obama is moving America towards Socialism.” It really irritates me that none of these overpaid “news” celebrities even bothers to deal with “what is Socialism” and “are we really going there?”
I bring this up now because our illustrious Congress Critter from the 5th district Mo Brooks was forced to retract the socialist comment from his House floor remarks but he's not sorry. I'm not surprised Mo is not sorry. I'm just sorry my progressive, informed, involved friends help send him to Washington D.C. in the first place. I tried to tell them, but did they listen to me? Noooo. That would have been too much like right (pun intended), but I digress.

Ironically, candidate Mo Brooksand I had the following exchange on Flashpoint blog regarding his anti socialism platform
Commissioner Brooks,
Would you be so kind and define/explain/clarify specifically what you mean by your assertion “the American economy is threatened by the twin evils of unsustainable budgets and socialism”? What unsustainable budgets and what socialism?
His response was to refer me to his website (thanks but no thanks), bash Pelosi and Obama, and an invitation to call him. But, he had this to say when pressed for specifics by someone who wanted to support him.

The beauty of the free enterprise system is that it will take care of economic matters by itself if we elect leaders who both understand how the free enterprise system works . . . and have enough confidence in our free enterprise system to let it work.

The free enterprise system has served America well for more than two centuries (and made us, for roughly sixty years, the world’s greatest economic power).

And yes, we should have let the bad banks fail. The government should never reward failure with tax dollars. If the federal government had stayed out of it, the banks that were doing things right would have survived and purchased the assets (primarily customer base) of failing banks . . . and everything would have worked itself out. And everyone would have been reminded that the price of failure is failure. Not reward.

As for GM, the same principles apply. Although we should note that it was government interference in the free enterprise system (examples: extraordinary tax burdens on GM and/or wrongful interference with the natural balance between labor unions and management) that led to GM’s demise. Had “know-it-all” and/or pandering politicians not intervened and made GM uncompetitive, it would still be thriving (with no taxpayer intervention or subsidies).

If my economics degree at Duke University (with highest honors) taught me anything it is this: no one group of people (i.e. – the government) is smarter than the collective knowledge of everyone who participates in and makes decisions concerning the free enterprise system. Anyone who believes our government “leaders” are smarter than the collective wisdom of everyone else in America gets the failures they deserve

Stated differently, I know I’m not smarter than the collective wisdom of the free enterprise system. Hence, I know that it is best to defer to the solutions and innovations the free enterprise system ultimately creates.

Government’s role should be very simple and very limited. Get out of the way except in the most extraordinary of situations (an example of proper government interventionism is when competition has been replaced with monopoly or similar anti-competitive practices).

Non apologetic Mo is hosting a WVNN Legislative Get Together at the Melting Pot of all places on May 13, 2011. I think all non apologetic socialist should attend and say it loud,

We're Socialist and Proud!

I believe in nationalizing banking.

I believe in nationalizing energy. Oil, ng, electricity generation.

Added to our already nationalized...

Military

Edit: to clarify and correct my OP the following are mostly under the control of state and or local governments. However many listed below do receive funding from the federal gov't.
Police
Fire
Highway/roads/streets
Water/Sewer
Education

I believe in government for the people, by the people.

Free and fair elections. Hand counted paper ballots.

Ban corporate person hood.

Use anti-trust laws to break up mega corps and multi-nationals.

Ban corporate campaign spending.

Eliminate the disgraceful wealth divide in America.
- fair, progressive taxation of the super wealthy.
- a LIVING WAGE FOR ALL WORKERS.
- pass and sign Employee Free Choice Act into law with a strong card check provision.
- a government with the backbone to protect a workers right to organize, and enforce labor law.
- ban of all federal funds to states with 'Right to Work'(for less) laws until they repeal these anti-worker laws.
- creation of a workers Bill of Rights.

End all foreign wars of Imperialism.
- Afghanistan -BRING THEM HOME ALIVE, NOW!
- WOT
- America's war against the poor in Central and South America.
- Close the School of the Americas
- Close Gitmo
- Close our 700+ international military bases spread all over the globe. Bring EVERY soldier home.

Reduce our so-called "defense" budget by no less than 50%.

Invest in America's aging infrastructure- rail, mass transit, high speed, light rail, city bus, roads, bridges, water, sewer, high speed Internet, electrical grid, seaway, PUBLIC EDUCATION.

There is no greater investment that a government can make in it's people than public education. Access to a quality education for ALL is a basic human right. Is there anything that can enable and empower a person to be self-sufficient better than access to a quality education?

Perhaps, affordable access to health care.

Single Payer Universal Health Care for all, and nothing less.

Affordable housing. End homelessness - a growing tragedy.

Feed the hungry.

I believe that democratically elected representative government can prevent us from being a 3rd world nation.
......................................

I don't pretend to speak for all socialists. Many here may disagree with my stances. What I listed above are just some of the reasons why I consider myself to be a Socialist.

I am a proud Socialist.

Socialist to the bone!

I will take my Socialist beliefs to my grave and make no apologies for them.

See you the Melting Pot Mo. I'll be the one wearing the Socialist T-Shirt, :)

Redeye's greatest hits continued

This is the third installment in my series of memory lane blog strolls leading up to the first anniversary of my front page privileges at Left in Alabama being yanked for allegedly making up stuff.

According to the Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads and the Polling Pollsters who Poll them, the majority of the American People are mad as hell at the Obama administration and they aren't going to take it anymore! I wonder how come they didn't get mad until the President was a democrat named Barack Obama? Why are they really mad? Where was their outrage pre Obama? I mean, really?

I'm talking to you Birthers, Deathers, Teabaggers, conservatives, republicans, moderates, independents, blue doghograts and DINO's. What are you really mad about? h/t pams listserve via MagginKat via ZJ via a British friend in email

Keep your eyes on the prize and hold on President Obama
October 20th will be ten months into President Obama's administration. If we will only give this man time and support, I believe he will full fill the promises he made. I believe his eyes are on the prize, but there is just so much to do. It can't all happen as quickly as I want, but the faith I have in my vote on November 6th gives me hope that we are on the right track with the right leader. I'll say it again, give this President time and support.

Stoopid is as stoopid does
I'm asking the parents of HCS school students who didn't want their students "brainwashed" by the President's political agenda if they are happy they taught their students about bigotry, racism, pettiness live and in living color? Children are our future, how can they move forward and make this world a better place if they are taught to hate someone because of the color of their skin? How are we going to move forward together, one nation, under God, with Liberty and Justice for ALL, if the children of the future are full of the prejudice and racism of the past?

Some suggested questions for gubernatorial candidates then and now
In light of the fact the gubernatorial candidates (except Ron Sparks) have agreed not to "play the race card" that may not be a good thing because in my mind "agreeing not to play the race care" is nod nod wink wink for "we are going to ignore black folks issues and concerns, and marginalize those who try to address them". So just in case I'm right (pun intended) here are some questions for ALL the candidates (republican and democrat) from a Redeye point of view.

Socialist is the New N word
PTCruiser at jackandjillpolitics.com reminded me of the historical use of the word;

the terms "socialist" and "communist" were among the favorite epithets hurled at Black Americans, their allies and organizations such as the NAACP before, during and after the Civil Rights Movement. In fact, these terms have been used since the early 20th Century, if not before, to discredit and stigmatize men and women fighting for social justice.

Proud Socialist signing off!

Annoy the Media and the Pollsters, elect Martha Coaxly!

If you listen to the Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads and the MSM, the Massachuettes Senate race is over and Scott Brown won because his oppenent Martha Coaxley ran a terrible campaign and made a baseball gaffe. Why do we know more about Martha Coaxley's campaign and her baseball gaffe than we know about the issues? Because that's what they want us to know about. It's called dumbing down the electorate with dumb stuff so they'll forget about the real issues.

According to the TTPH's and the MSM this is a referendum on President Obams's socialist agenda and white Obama voters are feeling voters remorse. Let them tell it, the majority of Americans don't approve of the health care reform bill and the direction the country is going, Obama has lost independent(white) voters and blue collar (white) voters and a grassroots (teabaggers) black, I mean back lash against the democratic agenda. Blah, blah, blab blab. How do they know all of this? Because the polls and the polling pollsters who poll them told them.

The real poll's open at 7AM and close at 8 PM. Don't let the media decide who the winner will be. Let the people decide. It's of the people, by the people for the people, not of the media, by the media for the media.

Annoy the media, the pollsters, the teabaggers, the deathers, the birthers and the anti health care reformers. Elect Martha Coaxley.
