RedEYE made Mike's Blog Roundup!

Wow!  Just Wow!  What an honor.   Trickle Down Justice made Mikes Blog Round Up at Crooks and Liars.  Welcome Crooks and Liars Readers.  Don't be a stranger.

EYE want to make the following random observations about Bernie Sanders Supporters vs, the Black Lives Matter Movement, and  Julian Bond.

1. Has anyone but me noticed Sanders crowds don't look like the crowds that assembled to elect President Obama twice?

2. Has anyone but me noticed when African Americans unify and organize to fight injustice and oppression any protest are deemed rebellious, trouble making, by Slaves?
Dear Bernie Sanders supporters,
Shut up and listen for once. When black women interrupt your candidate, don't call them "thugs." And when protesters hijack your hero's microphone to have their story heard, it doesn't mean they're paid provocateurs in some elaborate plot involving George Soros and Hillary Clinton. You know who else propagates wild conspiracy theories about George Soros funding left-wing protesters? Glenn Beck and Allen West. So congratulations, white progressives – your fanaticism for Bernie has turned you into the thing you hate.
3.  Has anyone but me noticed it's easier to attack the messenger because they can't attack the message?

4.  Has anyone but me noticed it's All Donald Trump All The Time, and All Hillary's   emails All The Time on TeeVee , but nary a word about the life, death, and legacy of Julian Bond?  EYE wonder why?
Julian Bond was a blunt, once in a generation civil rights icon who was not afraid to say what needed to be said even though he knew it would be controversial.
5.  Stupid is as Stupid does.  See graphic below.

Random Acts of Fear and Loathing in America Vol.2

Herman Cain's Wily Racial Politics
RightWatch: The Republican candidate validates what white conservatives believe about blacks.

THIS is what white conservatives believe about blacks. Watch. Listen and Learn.

You got THAT Scott Beason (r. racist, Gardendale)? Evidently NOT.
And in the South, some Cain supporters say that supporting an African-American could turn long-held racial perceptions around. No Deep South states supported Barack Obama in 2008 and elected representatives in the state have become more racially polarized in recent years.Scott Beason, a Republican Alabama state senator, said a Cain win, especially in the Deep South, would be a visible sign of progress."It would change the stereotypes that still exist about how people make their decisions down here," Beason said. "I think it's ironic that he will do better here than in the so-called enlightened states up north.""What folks are doing is listening to what is he saying and he is not afraid to say what he thinks."
It's the Media. They think we are stoopid.
If you black people don't know by now, the media is your worst enemy. The media from the time of the old printing presses have been showcasing your worst traits to the United state and the world, which was justified and even sanctioned by the Pope and the church which relegated you to the status of animals. Kinda forgot about that didn't you? And how was this belief spread? Well, as they say: the media was the message.
TeeVee and the MSM is no friend of black people. It was through the media well up to the late sixties that contributed to the vilification of black people. You should know this. It's part of your history. It's a history white people want you to forget. It's a history white people don't want to discuss. White people don't want to have a dialog about race. If they did, don't you think we would have had one by now, especially here in "post racial" Amerikkka? No, sorry. The majority of white people just want you to go away. They wish to wake up one morning, turn to the news and discover, by some miracle that all the black people in the country have vanished. Then they can lead the harmonious lives that God meant for them to live.
Shhh! It's a Secret.
The Secret Course on Whiteness (1676?- ) is the imagined course where many White Americans learn to talk and act amazingly alike in ways that cannot be accounted for by the public, mainstream culture.
I call it a course because so many of them will say the same thing, word for word, like they are talking from a script that they learned somewhere.I call it secret because it is not part of the public culture. Somehow it gets passed down through the white vernacular culture.
Hustlers & Grifters& Family Oh My!

Well... now, Perry has folks wondering about his own family tree. I mean it does sort of raised eyebrows a little bit, especially with a family ranch called "Niggerhead" and him not to long ago threatening to secede from the union when President Obama (a black man) was elected.
Anyway, the secessionist governor should have left stirring the pot to the women folks because looks like he keeps making a big mess in the kitchen. Which leads up to why people have a question for Perry regarding his family tree. (pssst...Gun toting, secessionist governor ought to withdraw now because things is fixing to get ugly).
Racist,Racism pays. Big Time.
SACRAMENTO-Medro Johnson, African American employee of Sears Home Improvement Products in Natomas, California was awarded $52 million over racial harassment.
A co-worked of Johnson’s had said he was Johnson’s “masta” at a company picnic
Man Killed Crackhead Teen So She Wouldn’t Sleep With Black Men. For real?

Glenn Beck is stupid.
Poor Glenn Beck. He's been thoroughly confused, and made to feel "afraid" and "bad" by the use of the term "African American." By the sounds of a recent rant on his radio show, he really can't take it anymore.

An Open Letter to Bill O'Rielly

I just had to share this letter posted on Face Book. When asked what took them so long to pen this letter the Writer said Keith Olbermann has been doing a good job making fun of him, so I never had to. It's raw. It's rude. It's on point.
Redeye

Dear Bill O the Clown,

One of my pet peeves is stupidity. Not ignorance of a fact or subject matter that one has never heard of, but complete and total foolishness on a subject that is established scientific fact is unacceptable. You attended Harvard University, not to some degree mill or Joe and Ernie's school of bull. You attended an Ivy League school and for some reason you can't scientifically explain the tides, the gravitational forces and the relational relationship they have with the moon. As a result, it can't be science, then it must be God. "Tides go in, tides go out, there's never a miscommunication. If it isn't God, then you explain it", you exclaim to a guest. Surely, your middle school teachers taught about gravitational pull of the earth, the poles, and how the moon affects the tides of the ocean. This is not the Dark Ages where something we can't explain happens and it becomes conclusive proof of Satan's work and we start burning witches or have trials by ordeal.

What am I saying? You probably have no idea what I am talking about...The Bible is not, I repeat NOT a compendium of scientific data. It's just not. If anyone seriously reads the Bible and believes that anything is scientific in there then they should join ranks with Palin and Beck right now. Tides go in, tides go out...that's what's supposed to happen. But that can be and is explained scientifically for about 500 years, there's nothing head scratching about that like curing cancer or Beck's blackboard communist conspiracy theories.

So, since you got rightly made fun of for your tides come in nonsense we get this gem. "Okay, how did the Moon get there? How'd the Moon get there? Look, you pinheads who attacked me for this, you guys are just desperate. How'd the Moon get there? How'd the Sun get there? How'd it get there? Can you explain that to me? How come we have that and Mars doesn't have it? Venus doesn't have it. How come? Why not? How'd it get here?" Well, again in most middle school science classes, we learn that the moon was formed from an impact with earth and that Venus and most of the planets have moons, several in fact. All facts that can be easily verified if you simply looked into a telescope. Who figured these things out? Galileo, Isaac Newton, Copernicus...any of these ring a bell?

We know that your show has nothing to do with logic, facts or common sense. I can get more rationality from an episode of sesame street. Next you will have an expose about how the moon is made of cheese, or that there is a homeless Acorn New Black Panther member living there getting ready to mount an attack on all the white middle aged women named Susie. Maybe Noah put the moon there, then installed rocket boosters after the flood to get the moon there. We have the tooth fairy, Santa, so maybe the moon got there from the cheese fairy. Maybe Michael Jackson put it there. Oh, here is something for you to ponder, we only see one side of the moon, is God hiding something on the other side? The average menstrual cycle is 28 days which is the lunar cycle, coincidence or conspiracy?

I don't know our origins, we can argue till we are horse about whether we came out of a primordial soup or whether the earth was formed in 6 days. However, what I do know, we as Americans and a western culture are behind the times based on the idiocy that I just described above. Religion and science cannot coexist because one operates on facts and logic, the other on faith. Is is a leap that in the Genesis story, that maybe our 6 days may not be Gods 6 days? Could his day be 2 days, 100 days, 1,000 days, 1,000 years? How do we know? We have a book that was orally dictated, handwritten and translated from Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and English and edited by Catholic Bishops who decided which gospels should be included and who should be changed a little to seem more interesting. Mathew, Mark, Luke and John recount the same story with some discrepancies.

If you have ever heard, "this strain of virus is resistant to antibiotics", then you are dealing with evolution and it can't be discounted as crap because you just want to believe in the Genesis intelligent design story. With all of all that, we are supposed to take everything in the as Bible 100% literal? I don't think so, if they did people wouldn't eat seafood or work on Sundays.

This is the 21st Century all unexplained things are not conclusive evidence of Jesus or Satan at work. The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, that should be Fox New's motto. Science is not a liberal conspiracy in order to turn people against God. Religious fundamentalism is a scourge on the planet that robs people of their ability to think and apply even the most basic level of common sense. When I hear such foolishness come from the mouth of a person that went to Harvard, get's paid millions of dollars a year and the best they can come up with is tides comes in, how does the sun get there...this is something I expect from Bachmann or Palin, but not you. You were really serious. You need to give Harvard their degree back or, they need to break in to your penthouse and steal it, because you are not representing a smart Harvard alum if you don't understand gravity.

I pray that you are pandering to the religious right because you know they disregard evolution and science. If so, you deserve a special place in hell for manipulating people based on their faith for political and economic gain. You are one of the most cynical of broadcasters, feigning the bumpkin upbringing and misunderstanding of the world so that you can goad your listeners into supporting the corporate system that feeds your own elite existence. Of course, Jimmie and Susie aren't thinking about that when they hear you talk, all they hear are those buzz words, "Jesus, patriotism, terrorism, christian, 9/11".

What horrendous sin did the people on this planet commit to be plagued with your tragic lie filled show? How many hail Mary's, confessions, sack cloth and ashes do I need to roll in end the suffering? If only I could go back and take out the person that invented the tv. While you were out sticking felafel's into hookers, you should been reading National Geographic, and taking remedial astronomy. Not astrology with Ms. Cleo, that's not the same thing. This is why Rome fell and why America is on the decline, gross ignorance that people like you perpetrate on a mass scale. Your stupidity is like a black hole, I fear it will suck all common sense, I.Q's, rationality inside and you will start watching cluster fox. All of the real journalists are in Egypt getting punched, threatened and tear gassed, but you are ok. Fox's new slogan should be: All ignorance, All the Time, You Don't Have to Feel Bad Watching Us." Bill, please stop talking out of Uranus.

Damn I miss Keith Olberbman.

We the People can't win for the Media

If the media were liberal we wouldn't be in this mess. What liberal media do we have? Other than 1 hour each of Ed Shultz, Keith Olberman and Rachael Maddow when are true liberal voices seen or heard? Three hours out of 24 is not fair or balanced.

The majority of the Talking TeeVee Chatter Heads push the gop talking points. Example;
Howard Dean was just being interviewed on MSNBC about the tax cut package and long term deficits. He was making the basic point that upper income tax cuts do little to stimulate the economy and do add to the deficit and long term national debt. He was knocking it around with MSNBC's Chris Jansing when all of a sudden, Jansing exclaimed: Wait, since when are progressives the ones who believe in fiscal discipline and deficits?

Then we have Leslie Stall's soft ball interview of the Rep. John Bohner on 60 Minutes.

It's a shame CBS didn't show the famous video of Boehner tap-dancing around the time he was caught handing out tobacco bribes on the House floor. He may not have been compromising his principles, but what he did was far more egregious than what they're lynching Charlie Rangel for... FAR MORE EGREGIOUS. Even if it is the ultimate in DC common ground.

We can thank the Media Consolidation Act for the sad, sorry state of today's media and for our sons and daughters being sent to war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The media is used to scare the American people, or as Faux News says, distort what we decide. The media promotes selective amnesia.
People on Madison Avenue make a boatload of money figuring out how to sell crap to a bunch of people who don’t need it. I mean really do you need a 500.00 cell phone? The wing-nuts have brought those same tactics to politics and the media. They have used branding to not make the country completely conservative, just more conservative than it was 30 years ago. So now the center is no longer the center. You now have Dems espousing former wing-nut positions as if they were now mainstream and rational.

Is the Obama compromise a setup?

I think this White House has underestimated the wrath of a scorned base. I think what this White House and President failed to realize is that while he is the President of those who didn’t vote for him, he owed it to those who did vote for him to stand up for the issues they elected him to stand up for. Those who did not vote for him will never vote for him. Does he think that if he passed all of the Republican agenda that they would not run a challenger against him in 2012? The progressives have for the last two years been waiting for this White House to fight for something. It began with the stimulus package that was too small and loaded with concessions to the wing-nuts and still did not get a single wing-nut vote. Then we had health-care reform where everything was bargained away before the negotiations even begun and progressives thought at least they would fight for the public option which didn’t happen. And of course we had financial reform and again no fight.

Is President Obama afraid the media will portray him as an angry black man like they did Rev. Jeremiah Wright and scare the Bejeezus out of white folks? You know, I could understand white folks being scared of black folks if black folks had enslaved white folks for hundreds of years and had a documented history of violence towards white folks, but the truth of the matter, it's the other way around, so what are white folks scared of? They have all the privilege and the power.
Where is the diversity in the mainstream media? And NO, so called black conservatives don't count because all they do is say publicly what whites say privately. Rush, Beck and the other right wing Lords of Loud flood the public airways with misinformation.

The mainstream media yawned and marginalized Senator Bernie Sander's moment of truth.
The infamous White House/GOP tax cut deal will likely pass both the Senate and House next week and then become law. But Bernie Sanders has opened a Pandora's box of illumination that will vex the feckless, ever-retreating White House and the grossly hypocritical Republicans for some time to come.
The past is prologue.
As we pass the 10th anniversary of the Bush v. Gore decision—technically yesterday, December 12—it is interesting to note how much of our current political predicament can be discerned in the events of those days. The Bush-Gore election illustrates three key points about today’s political and media environment:

* Conservatives fight harder and dirtier for what they want than progressives.

* The mainstream media gives conservatives a pass for acting and speaking in their own political interest while criticizing progressives for the same thing.

* Conservative commentators recognize few if any boundaries in their willingness to demonize progressives, with virtually no corollary of any kind among progressives.

Quoting Democratic Alabama State Senator Hank Sanders
We see things and think they are unfair. We think they are easy to correct. We try to correct the injustice but one thing leads to another and another. Sometimes other injustices occur in the process. If it’s not one thing, it’s another.

It's the media, I won't say stupid, because we aren't stupid, the media must think we are stupid.

Updated: Blatant show of White Privilege hiding behind the skirts of the JeffCo New South Coalition

So, who exactly is using the JeffCo New South Coalition to say publicly what the white privileged variety says behind closed doors? There is an unsigned letter posted on leaning Left in Alabama calling for Elisabeth French to reject her nomination and alleging Judge Nicole "Niki" Still is the victim of racism by the SDEC.

The Alabama Democratic Party's decision to appoint a black woman for fear that having an unopposed white woman on the ballot, would reduce voter turnout, is an insult that should enrage blacks everywhere.

To this end, the Jefferson County Chapter of Alabama New South Coalition calls for Elisabeth French to reject her recent appointment as the Democratic nominee for Circuit Court Judge, thus sending the message that she refuses to support racism and bias in any form.

The Alabama Democratic Party appointed French out of fear having an unopposed white woman on the ballot, would reduce voter turnout? Who knew?

Could it be the Birmingham News Editorial Board?

It is highly disingenuous for the News to state that this was the primary reason Still was overlooked when the video shows otherwise. What is becoming too apparent, however, is that the News continues to stir this pot, as if by doing so the Committee will change its mind due to the public outcry it can generate. In other words, it appears that the News has an agenda.

I'm calling on Judge Niki Still to reject white privilege, thus sending the message that she refuses to support race baiting in any form. Show some class and stop being a sore loser.

Elisabeth French is a class act;
I can not express enough gratitude to each of you. I am so humbled by and so proud of the support I received today. You have given me an opportunity, and for that I can’t thank you enough.

I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge Kenya Marshall and let all of you know that she is in my thoughts and prayers. I also want to thank Judge Nikki Still for her dedicated service to the people of Jefferson County.

As we go forward, I pledge to you that I will be a fair, honest and compassionate judge. My courtroom will be a level playing field for all plaintiffs, defendants and lawyers.

Talking with you and getting to know each of you has been a great privilege. The friends that I have made during this campaign are some of the best people I have ever known. I hope that you too will call me a friend.

I can’t thank you enough for the trust you have given me. You have my pledge and my promise that I will not let you down.

All of my thanks,

Elisabeth French

P.S. I also want to let each of you know that I will be donating $2,400 to the Democratic Party, which would be the equivalent my qualifying fee.

Paid for by Elisabeth French for Circuit Judge
P.O. Box 43651 Birmingham, AL 35243

If anyone is the victim of racism it's Kendra Lavender Smith. I guess we are supposed to over look the FACT there are some who want to replace the African American female who won the election FAIR and SQUARE with with the white female candidate who lost the election fair and square.

I guess we are supposed to over look the fact the charges against Kendra Lavender Smith were raised AFTER she won the election by the powerful Alabama Bar Association. Are we supposed to overlook Kendra Lavender Marshall hasn't been CHARGED or CONVICTED of a crime? Are we supposed to over look her side of the story?
Marshall said she admitted to the charges and agreed to the four-year suspension of her license only because of threats from the State Bar disciplinary committee. In fact, Marshall denied that she had misused client funds.

I guess we are supposed to ignore the FACT this issue reeks of republican polititricks.
Legal Schnauzer has learned that Still, through her prominent lawyer father, has ties to the Riley's. That, plus the curious timing of the charges against Marshall, indicate political considerations are at least partially driving the process.

Race seemingly has played a strong factor in the case since the Alabama State Bar announced on August 3 that it was temporarily suspending Marshall's license over charges that she misappropriated $30,000 in a client's fund. Marshall and three other lawyers who have expressed an interest in the court position are black; Still is white.

I guess it's racism because the Alabama Democratic Party didn't fall for the Rope a Dope.
By choosing Elisabeth French over Nicole Gordon Still for the judicial nomination in Birmingham, the Alabama Democratic Executive Committee (ADEC) revealed a distaste for anyone with connections to the state's political and corporate elite. Because the decision involved a judgeship, the ADEC also seemed to be expressing its concern about the justice system--in Alabama and beyond.

There is a blatant show of racism all right, but not by the Alabama Democratic Party. Strike that, not by the Brass Knuckle Wing of the Democratic Party.
We also think it's a good thing to "out" some of the New Mules who probably played a role in the effort to oust Kenya Lavender Marshall, who had won the Democratic primary, and force in Nicole Gordon Still, the runner up.

One of these New Mules, we suspect, is prominent Birmingham attorney Bruce L. Gordon. His name has not been mentioned in mainstream-press coverage of last week's drama. But our research indicates he probably was a key character in the chain of events that led to Elisabeth French's selection.

Glenn Beck used Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to appropriate Martin Luther King's legacy. Who is using the JeffCo New South Coalition and three members of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in an attempt to put Joe Reed in his place?

Now, Joe Reed, Joe Turnham and John Rogers no longer need to concern themselves with how many people will show up to the polls, but must now move to retain democrats thinking of fleeing the Democratic Party after such a blatant show of racism.

Psst! Those democrats thinking of fleeing the Democratic Party because you think this is a blatant show of racism....See Ya! I'm sure the gop will welcome you with open arms. This isn't a blatant show of racism, this is a blatant show of the power of the privileged. Those who have the power have the privilege. Those who have the privilege have the power.

Tuesday Professional Left Blog Stroll

I'm sick and tired of white, privileged individuals like John Archibald and Glenn Beck hiding behind the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. to suppress legitimate complaints of black folks and to bash black leaders.

Before Dr. King was acceptable to white folks he was called a communist, outside agitator/instigator who needed to stop whining and STFU. He was called Martin Luther Coon. He was arrested and jailed. His house was bombed. His phone was tapped. He faced constant death threats. Martin Luther King,Jr. didn't stop whining until he was forced to by an assassins bullet in Memphis, TN. Remember?

Legal Schnauzer connects the white privilege dots in the Kendra Lavender Marshall affair and draws the following conclusion;
My sense is that Alabama progressives are tired of Democrats, especially of the white and privileged variety, who try to straddle both sides of the political fence.

You get it Schnauzer. It's time for Democrats, especially of the white and privileged variety to stop straddling both sides of the fence. Pick a side.

Meanwhile under the radar in the Cradle of the Confederacy, Montgomery residents are accusing the City of demolishing homes to sidestep Eminent Domain Laws.
The city is intimidating people," she said. "They don't try to give people due process of setting up fines or even putting up a fluorescent poster in the front yard saying, 'We're going to demolish your house.'"

Residents and activists have accused city leaders of using a local blight ordinance to target low-income Montgomery residents so the city can take their property and re-sell it to high-end developers without paying compensation.

H/T Jack and Jill Politics.com for the video of Alabama's shameful secret. Uh, where is the defender of King's dream John Archbald when you need him? Now here is a case where real disenfranchised people of color could use his help and he is no where to be found. I have a dream one day the media will use their privilege and power for the good of all mankind regardless of race, gender, religion, or circumstance.

I will believe it when I see it. President Obama makes a commitment to restoring New Orleans Talk is cheap. Let's see some ACTION. It's been 5 years already.

Great way to win friends and influence people Alabama Federation of Democratic Women. Insult the female chair of the State Democratic Executive Committee then blame it on Joe Reed.

Ok, so I told Nancy Worley after the meeting that she didn't need to pay the Parlimentarian because much of the debate during the meeting was "out of order" according to Roberts Rules.

She rared up and told me that she was a "certified Parlimentarian" and that the meeting had been run properly. I retorted that maybe she needed to get more training.

Unfortunately, her "significant other" didn't approach me with fists raised and verbally and physically threaten me like he did Mooncat later....

Because I've been waiting YEARS to use that great line from Tootsie. If someone gets up in my face "I'll knee your balls up through the roof of your mouth."

Meouch! Wait, there's more;
And HELLO... a Point of Order overrides debate - assuming there is any. A Point of Order interrupts the discussion and Nancy just ignored it. So much for the "certified parlimentarian." Go back to school, Nancy!

After that performance, it's no wonder that our single woman on the SDEC executive board sat by herself at the AFDW gala dinner Saturday night and left all alone after the meeting.

Joe Reed made her do it!
There's a German proverb that summarizes what has happened to Nancy -- "whose bread i eat, his song i sing." Getting appointed top female official of the state committee was a feast, but now she's got to sing his song for dry crusts.

Meanwhile, didin't Reed get more control -- more people he will have the authority to put on the state committee -- by what was rammed through at the previous state ctte meeting? And, is there any legal way to give a little power back to delegates, apportioned on a basis that truly represents democratic voters of Alabama? Does anyone have an idea, a plan, on how to legally and politically astutely put the democratic back in the committee?

And they wonder why Nancy Worley said "we need to study this"?

Redeye over and out....for now.

So much hypocrisy, so little time.

The War on Terra Continues. A NATO airstrike mistakenly killed 28-30 people today. I'm with StevenD, How much longer is this madness going to continue? When will enough killing and bombing be enough? Bring our troops home. Bring them home now.
So why are we repeating the same mistakes made by other "super powers" of the past? In a time of extraordinary economic decline for most Americans we continue to pour precious resources into a conflict that we cannot "win" whatever "metric" one uses to measure "winning."
Congress should immediately reinstate funds to ACORN. This knee-jerk action by Congress was a travesty. It's been proven the whole Pimp story was a right wing funded set up and lie. ACORNS only crime was being a community organizing group. They need to go after the real Pimps, but of course they won't. That would be to much like right(pun intended).
O'Keefe got big accolades from a lot of the CPAC speakers and of course ACORN got ripped up one side and down the other.

Sometimes I think some of the elected people in DC never read anything and instead rely on each other regarding what to think. They jumped all over ACORN without really looking into the whole case.

I thought I read somewhere that a judge had said the govt. had to give ACORN the money they had already been promised.
Instead of going after ACORN they need to go after stuff like THIS.
Voters trying to cast ballots in Lower Oxford Township East stood in lines for so long that TV crews showed up to capture the scene. Some of those waiting ordered out for pizza. Sympathetic neighbors brought water and coffee. When the last vote was cast shortly before 11 p.m., polls were officially closing on the West Coast and Barack Obama had already been declared the winner.

Some of the 1,440 who voted there that day waited for seven to eight hours in the rain, queuing up close enough to working railroad tracks to reach out and touch passing freight cars. The tiny community center they waited to enter could accommodate only seven booths and one optical scanner. The adjacent parking lot was big enough for a dozen cars.

This wasn't a mistake. It was deliberate. It was the clearest example you could hope to find of partisan politics trumping common sense and civic duty.

Listen up Democrats! Bipartisanshop=Appeasement. When are you going to learn that appeasement doesn't work? It's not wise to appease republicans. It's how they turn the winners into the losers and the losers into the winners.
The theory is that if Democrats make a show out of reaching out to Republicans, but Republicans slap Democrats down every time and obstruct for the sake of obstructing, then Democrats will gain politically.

The reality is that Republicans gain in the polls if Democrats fail to pass legislation that improves people's lives, no matter the political theater of obstruction.
Thanks to the democratically controlled Congress, President Obama is afraid to lead. Seriously. They've made him afraid of the far left liberals, who have been right about everything from the war to the deficity in favor of the so called moderates and independents. The President's Healthcare Bill and What is Missing is proof.
There’s no public option in the Prez’s proposal which is a shame since polls show that the majority of Americans want a public option (such a dumb phrase), as good as say… Medicare or VA health benefits or even the government-sponsored program in which Sarah Palin’s son Tripp is hypocritically enrolled. The audacity of that woman — what’s good enough for her son is evidently not good enough for other Americans, it would seem.
Sarah Palin is the Hypocrit of the Decade.
As we all know, Sarah's suffering for her family is boundless, but this must be the worst of all. What is difficult to understand is why she doesn't use this most personal example of the horrors of government run health care in her public cries to prevent Obamacare. She normally isn't one to suffer in silence; maybe someone in the media will ask her to share the nightmare that her daughter must endure knowing, all day every day, that her son will receive health care regardless of her ability to afford it. Or maybe not.
Tiger Yoo? While the MSM was breathlessly parsing every word of Tiger Woods apology they totally ignored the story about John Woo and the Massacre Memo
In John Yoo's vision of executive power, the president can legally order a village of civilians "massacred," according to the internal Justice Department report released Friday.
The MSM calls Glenn Becks wild eyed rant *cough cough* Brave Criticism of the GOP. Give me a break.
Take a look at these headlines.

WaPo: “At CPAC, Glenn Beck scolds the Republican Party.“
MSNBC: “Beck criticizes Obama and the GOP.“
The Atlantic: “Beck Thumps GOP, Puzzling Conservatives.”
L.A. Times: “Glenn Beck to Republican Party: Repent.“
And on and on. If you only skimmed those headlines, you’d think that Beck went boldly into the belly of the beast, and had some kind of Sister Souljah moment.

Except Beck didn’t do that. He blew smoke up the CPAC audience’s white asses by simply reciting, verbatim, exactly the same tired spiel Republican leaders have been parroting nonstop since they lost control of Congress in 2006.
Are we in trouble yet?
