Breaking News! "Activist Who Interrupted Bernie Were Shape-Shifting Reptilian Assassins from the 8th Dimension"

Fist Dap The Portland Intelligencer

Cue in music from the Twilight Zone

"We may never know the answer to this mystery. It may be that there is no right answer. Ultimately, it all comes down to what you truly believe in your heart. Would a couple of black women really show up and suggest that the progressive left has an unacknowledged streak of white supremacy? Would they really speak out-of-turn, as if to suggest that they have been on the receiving end of both brutal oppression and empty promises — two distinctly different, but equally pernicious, forms of racism — for five centuries, here, in the promised land of the free?

Or is it simpler to conclude that these were just a couple of Satan’s reptile-like shapeshifting alien assassins, fresh from the 8th dimension, sent here by Sarah Palin & Hillary Clinton & George Soros to prevent the best friend that the black community ever had from getting elected?"

Time will tell the truth.

Psst! "Dear #ElizabethLauten, I get you’re in that awful Republican party, but you’re a part of America, try showing a little class".

Nothing classy about Elizabeth Lauten's criticism of the Obama girls.
"Dear Sasha and Malia, I get you're both in those awful teen years, but you're part of the First Family, try showing a little class. At least respect the part you play. Then again your mother and father don't respect their positions very much, or the nation for that matter, so I'm guessing you're coming up a little short in the "good role model" department. Nevertheless, stretch yourself. Rise to the occasion. Act like being in the White House matters to you. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar. And certainly don't make faces during televised, public events."
Oh really?  Let's Flip the Script.

WASHINGTON (AP) — When first lady Laura Bush counseled her twin daughters on how to behave while campaigning with their father, she may have skipped the part about not sticking your tongue out at the media.
Can you say double standard?
The former first lady recalled receiving a letter from someone she knows saying she should tell Jenna Bush how outrageous it was for her to have stuck out her tongue at photographers while traveling with her father on a campaign trip, an act caught on film.
"I wrote the girl back and I said, if you'll pardon me, 98 percent of Americans would like to stick their tongue out at the press," Barbara Bush told ABC, adding that the gesture took place while the press corps was kidding around. "It was so nothing, and it was funny."
Yep, not showing a little class at public televised events  is ok if you are a republican.

Doe-eyed Bristol Palin, 17, and ruggedly handsome Levi Johnston, an 18-year-old self-described "f---in' redneck," have been dating a year, locals in Wasilla, Alaska, told the Daily News.And the pregnancy? An open secret in the close-knit town of 9,780.
 Psst! It must be hard to be a republican and an American.

"Tearful apology not needed" My Sentiments Exactly!

field negro: Tearful apology not needed, and the evolution deniers.
 The problem is that there is a basic hypocrisy in the media that allows the right to not be held accountable bad behavior. Not only is the right allowed to get away with worse things than the MHP segment on a daily basis, but no one on the left is ever cut the same slack.
"I have said this before and it is worth repeating: Nobody plays the victim card like these wingnuts. Sarah Palin has made a career out of it. (I see you Mr. Bashir). "

More on this later.

America held hostage by Sore Losers Day 14

Would someone please tell the TeaPublicans and the white, male dominated Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads that President Obama won twice?  It's not just political districts.  Our news is gerrymandered too.
It isn’t just politicians that are feeding their bases, it is the media outlets, as well. The village common — you know, that place where we all meet to discuss our problems, relying on the same set of facts — has shrunk to the size of a postage stamp, surrounded by the huge gated communities of like minds who never venture into the great beyond.
 Case in point
 There is no such law, I am aware who would need to indict Showers but a little MSM media attention would go a long way…

The Struggle: Achievements and Principles

I wanted to make this pic my cover photo over at Facebook, but the text on the left side wouldn't be visible beneath my personal photo (well, that's not really me, of course, as I'm not a canine, though some of my best friends are). But since that wouldn't work out, and since I'll be guest blogging over here awhile by Redeye's special request, I wanted the pic of our accomplished President Obama to be my debut post. I know you're going to miss Redeye's style (with which I know I can't compete!) but I hope you'll give me a chance - because Redeye did!
I've never understood some people's angst for our President, and I've had to conclude that sadly, the rumors of him being black are true. Well, to be more accurate, he is actually of mixed races: he's Oreo, black and white, so to call him black just because he looks black is inaccurate.
I had always hoped that it was far more than race that made him despised by some. He is accomplished, coming out of rather humble beginnings, and yet, through his own striving and perseverance and making and taking every opportunity, he beat the odds of being a poor, undereducated, incarcerated black boy. That is, after all, too often the cultural stereotype, isn't it?
President Obama is a role model not only for young black males, but for us all. I am so glad that he has the personal demeanor that he does, and I am so ashamed and outraged at the likes of Georgia's Tea Partyian Rep. Joe Wilson for his "You lie!" stunts during the State of the Union (for which he recieved a formal rebuke from the House of Representatives). Notably, Sarah Palin recently revived the lyin' line, even dusting off the birthers' conspiracy theory for good measure. Some folks say anything for attention, especially if they can dress it up with what they call fighting for "principles."
I was reminded of principles while watching Melissa Harris Perry's segment today on NYPD's "stop and frisk" policy, which set quotas for police officers as "productivity goals." Apparently the principle of the police officers' work ethic is supposed to be stronger than our American principles of the 4th and 14th constitutional amendments. Never mind that 88% of all NYPD stops end without an arrest, and actually promote crime by leaving "entire neighborhoods demoralized and suspicious of police."
So young men in New York are routinely subjected to constitutional violations, even as our President demonstrates that color is no bar to achievement. He achieved and is a superb role model for us all, especially for youthful black men who again have another distinguished black man as an example and as a leader. And yet, there are those who attack President Obama not for his living our American principles, but for their own perversion of them.
We still have a long way to go to fulfill Rev. Martin Luther King's dream of "a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Or, as Melissa Harris Perry's father signed her birthday cards, "The struggle continues. Love, Daddy."

We can't win for the media and the ConservaDems

It's easier for the mainstream media to *ahem* talk about Sarah Palin, Chris Christie, Anthony Weiner and Breitbarts latest hoax than it is to talk about the Sad Day in the House of Representatives on the debt ceiling vote to set up a trap for President Obama and the democrats.

House Republicans will hold a symbolic vote next week to pressure Democrats into accepting deep spending cuts in exchange for lifting the $14.3 trillion debt limit.

The move, announced Tuesday in a closed-door conference meeting, is designed to show President Obama and Senate Democrats that Congress will not unconditionally grant the government more borrowing authority.

So now that we know it's a trap to force "deep spending cuts" for the middle class what are WE going to do about it?
Republican aides dismissed concerns — raised by some Democrats — that a failed House vote would rattle the financial markets, much like the failure of the initial Wall Street bailout package in 2008 sent the Dow crashing by more than 700 points. The GOP circulated a fact sheet listing nine examples of clean debt-limit votes that have failed in the House or Senate since 1975.

Tarheel Dem explains what it means.

Until Wall Street is clear that the Republicans really would refuse to raise the debt limit, the Republicans can continue to play their kabuki to try to force Democrats to vote against their key programs - Social Security and Medicare. Who causes the other to blink wins the narrative. Republicans are already arguing that Democrats have already cut Medicare (the same BS that won the GOP the House last year). But that argument after the Ryan budget has less traction.
There is one huge hot sweaty debate coming right before the August recess. (That's assuming that the administration has not made savings that kick the can down the road.) Faced with the debt ceiling being reached while they are home talking with voters and getting their local organizations lined up for next year's campaign, what will Republicans do? As usual, the disunity in the Democratic House caucus (thanks, Heath) is a problem.

The GOP media machine is getting more shrill, a clear indication they are getting worried that the extortion might not work and the hostage might escape.

I HOPE President Obama doesn't capitulate I mean compromise again. The way to deal with Bully's is to stand up to them.

What it means to me...the DEMS had no plan on how to handle this vote. They should have hung together and voted FOR the debt limit increase because it's the right thing to do and what needs to be done. Forget the 30 sec ads; it won't matter in the large scheme of things and that's what DEMS don't get.
They needed to hang together and make a statement; if they couldn't on a yes vote they should have all voted no in protest to the rules and had that be the message; either way it's stupid the way it shook out and took the focus off Medicare which is where it needs to be.

This was a mess all around and the White House should have been focused in on this and working to pull together a plan with house democrats.

Then again, they seem to be focused on a Biden track for a solution and ignoring the House.

I tried to tell them, but did they listen to me? Nope.
Frankly, I don't see how one can be both Conservative and a Democrat. Democrats are pro choice. Conservatives are pro life as long as it's in the womb. Democrats are pro equal rights and civil rights. Democrats are pro labor and pro union, Conservatives are pro-prayer in school and pro "traditional family". Conservatives favorite Congressmen are Jim Marshall and Jim Taylor, Democrats favorite Congressmen are John Lewis, Robert Wexler and Dennis Kuchinich.

Our problem is that the Democratic Party keeps nominating conservatives.

We're in a class war, and conservatism itself is our enemy.

Resorting to Racism and Bigotry to win the day

There are legitimate reasons to oppose President Obama's agenda, but I hate seeing the republicans, enabled by the mainstream media, resort to racism and bigotry to win the day.

There is a segment in this country who simply cannot, and will not, accept the fact Barack Hussein Obama is the duly elected President of the United States of America. Sarah Palin was the first to put a pretty face on the voice of bigotry. Donald Trump, Michelle Beckman and others jumped on the bandwagon enabled by the media.

Just as former President Clinton's personal life was a distraction from the real issues facing real people, President Obama's birth certificate is the latest distraction for the real racism. No other President, or Presidential candidate, is being asked to produce their birth certificate. Senator John McCain was not born in the USA, but no one cares. Why? Because he's not an African American that's why.

So now that we know it's the stoopid racism Could we maybe get a discussion about race right for once?

I don't care what's in your heart. If you say something that is racist or maybe forward an email that is racist, I don't care if you're pure of heart and have black friends. It's about what you did, not who you are.

It would help if the mainstream media would stop giving the racist a platform
To MSNBC: Just get rid of the racists. Pat Buchanan needs to go and Breitbart should not be allowed to appear on any one's show to pimp a book which is an intellectually dishonest screed about how devoted Breitbart is to the truth. This is not free speech suppression. It's simply NOT NEWS.

It would also help if African Americans weren't Locked Out of cable and mainstream media newsrooms, blogs and radio.
Simply put, the typical guest on a cable news show is white and male. This becomes stark when we compare the proportion of white men to the proportion of minority women:

Why do Tea Party rallies get so much media attention, even when their gatherings appear to be shrinking in size?

That is because the corporate mainstream media has a bias toward covering protests from the right, but virtually ignores progressive
crowds.

If President Obama had been booed at a Town Hall meeting yesterday there would have been breathless, wall to wall, coverage in the mainstream media.

As long as the media continues to enables racism and bigotry it will continue to win the day. Instead of talking about how the proposed budget cuts will adversely affect low income and disadvantaged citizens the media would rather focus on Donald Trump. And as Lawrence O'Donnell said, that's what is dangerous.

There is something very ugly in what Donald Trump is doing, and it is built on a base of racism and paranoia. I'm not saying Donald Trump is racist or paranoid. He doesn't have to be to do the damage he is now doing to this country. He just has to be vulgar enough to keep barking out the lies that the racist, paranoid, Obama haters want to hear. And in doing that for them, on major network television talk shows, he legitimizes their feelings, their hatred, their racism. The millions out there who seethe with the madness Donald Trump stokes watch him and say, 'Hey, it's not just me who thinks this, Donald Trump thinks this. And he's a smarter guy than me and I know he's a smarter guy than me because he says he's a smarter guy than me. And he's made a lot more money than me, and that proves he's smarter than me.'"

An Open Letter to President Obama

Sharing an insightful open letter To President Obama from one of my young friends. Young voters like this writer are the reason President Obama won in 2008. They voted with HOPE for CHANGE they could believe in. Mr. Obama would be wise to listen and not let them down if he wants to win again in 2012.~Redeye

Dear Mr. President,

I have to give you credit for going yet again into the snake pit and attempting to have an intelligent conversation with an individual who doesn't understand the concept of gravity, lunar orbit, the tides, basic astronomy, or much of anything for that matter. He is one of the more sane "journalists" if we use Glenn Beck as the gauge of sanity. You truly have the patience of Job trying to be diplomatic with people who day and night gin up insane theories about you inciting the Egyptian revolt and installing the new leader along with the communists and the Muslim brotherhood, as if somehow you and the justice department can look in the crystal ball and know who will follow in Mubarak's footsteps. Every time you tried to explain those pesky things like facts, Billo wanted to take us back to land of make believe. It's almost as if Billo was suffering from ADHD from the fidgeting and shuffling, and the easy distractions. You would think the man was on coke. But coke would help a person with ADHD right? O’Reilly is vulgar, immature, and mentally disordered suffering from the mental fidgets. I swear his attention span only lasts no longer than 8 seconds. You just sat there with a smile on your face in amusement, if I could take a stroll in your mind...

I know that you are beginning your re election campaign and you have to get the paranoid fools that watch cluster fox back on the Obama express, but dude, they still think you are a Muslim hell bent on destroying America. Sarah Palin is still yapping her nonsense that you aren't handling Egypt properly and that the American people are calling the White House at 3am and they are getting the answering machine. She doesn't realize that we can't interfere in a sovereign countries revolt or the installation of their leader. Unless we want to get him killed or wage the region in further upheaval. But, she would have to have some knowledge of history, especially Middle Eastern history. Since she is such a Reagan lover, she would remember how he wanted to have peace and disarmament with the Soviet Union. This is person who thinks the soviets won the space race, so I don't expect too much...

If there could be a photo for propaganda in the dictionary, the Fox logo would be there in bold print. Apparently you, the Communists and the Muslim Brotherhood are setting up a Caliphate in the seat of evil in ancient Babylon. I hate that you didn't take Mr. Fair and Balanced to task for blatant lies, but I understand why you didn't. Billo's style is always ask ques. that seem neutral on it's face, but the ques. are loaded and in partisan code. If you aren't thrown by the ques. and start to give credible lucid, sane answers, he starts to try to throw off your flow with "yeah, yeah, I understand all that, all right, all right..." Kind of stupid to try that on a lawyer used to cross examining... I can see how if you are in the room with him or not a quick thinker this can be quite intimidating. Remaining calm, firm, and not letting him overpower you in your answers, which is clearly what you did is the best way to handle a bully like Billo the clown. The calmer you are, the angrier he gets and the dumber he sounds, which gives cluster fox the red meat fact less info. the viewers thrive on.

Will you get independents and tea baggers that watch fox to come back to reservation? I don't know...You have so much ignorance to counter act and so much of it launched from fox. You were diplomatic and as usual you extended the olive branch to a bunch of morons who understand nothing who are set about your destruction. We can only hope the misinformation stops if only people would read and stop getting info from Bachmann, Beck, Palin and Gingrich. Billo has claimed that this interview is the most watched in the history of the world...since he takes so much credence in the Bible, how could he possibly know what was the most watched in the history of the world or the amount of the population at any period of time for this to be the highest watched in the history of the world, ever. Bill later read some of his emails as is his custom, and one of his viewers complained that Bill was shilling for Obama, painting him as a moderate and giving him free advertising..HA HA. See, Bill inserted that email to justify his non-ideological spin because he knows how to play the game too. Bill responded with his patented answer that "The Factor Is not and never has been, an ideological program." "I ask the President questions, he responds and you decide. I don't engineer anything. No...He doesn't engineer anything. "Tiller the baby killer". "I'm going to let you go", "Pinhead or Patriot". Yeah...I see his point, it's not ideological.

Never forget Mr. President, The Gop/ Tea Baggers/ Fox/ Birch society/ Beck watchers see a witch in every tree and a communist/ Muslim everywhere (they don't know the difference), but you are the head of the communist / Muslims. They want you gone no matter what you do, no matter how great the economy is, even if you single handed cure cancer, aids, fix the environment, you will never be good enough. You will always be "radical and a socialist" which is absolutely absurd...Even though renewal of the patriot act is coming up, I bet money it will be extended from the people who are so afraid of our rights being taken away. You need to get the folks that's on board who doesn't drink grain alcohol out of a mason jar and doesn't worry about an imaginary "seat of evil" in Babylon and the caliphates, leave them behind. Let them go back to their world. Try not to give fox anymore credibility, this station is packed full of loons, fools, psycho's and pathological liars. It has more comedic value than comedy central. Just remember what you are dealing with every night, and try to break the hypnotic spell of propaganda idiocy that is fox news.

I know that I am NOT culpable

SaintSatinStain, I respectfully disagree with your assertion we are all indirectly or just as responsible as Sarah Palin for the terrorism in Arizona. If I were allowed to post on Left in Alabama I would have posted this response there, but since I'm not I will post it here with HOPE you read and will respond accordingly.

You said;
You and I, along with some
politicians and public figures,
right and left, probably contribute
to the sickness with use
of the imagery of violence.

I don't use imagery of violence and I don't know of any democratic politicians or public figures who do. As Melissa Ewen of Shakesville says;
An anonymous commenter at Daily Kos and the last Republican vice presidential nominee are not equivalent, no matter how many ridiculously irresponsible members of the media would have us believe otherwise.
You said;
Public figures with a following
need to take special care
in what they say.
On this point I agree, however as Melissa points out again;
There is, demonstrably, no leftist equivalent to Sarah Palin, former veep candidate and presumed future presidential candidate, who uses gun imagery (rifle sights) and language ("Don't Retreat, RELOAD") to exhort her followers to action.
You said;
We all need to take care
in what we say in public
and in private.
I guess it depends on who WE IS. It's a slippery slope when some have to watch what they say and others don't.
There is no leftist equivalent to the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC), a group which was created from the mailing list of the old white supremacist White Citizens Councils and has been noted as becoming increasingly "radical and racist" by the Southern Poverty Law Center, which classifies the CCC as a hate group—and is nonetheless considered an acceptable association by prominent members of the Republican Party, including a a former senator and the last Republican presidential nominee.
You said;
Call folk on it whenever they use violence imagery, especially in political debate
and in the public space.
Again we agree people who use violent imagery should be called on it, however it can't be taken out of context, there is a difference in saying "I clean my flintlock and leave it loaded by the door." as an imagery to express the strength of your feelings about our racial and racist past and telling people if you can't win at the ballot box, use bullets.
There is no leftist equivalent to Glenn Beck, host of a long-running nationally syndicated radio show, former host of a show on CNN and current host of a show on Fox, best-selling author, DC rally organizer, and longtime user of eliminationist rhetoric, including equating universal health care to rape, joking about victims of forest fires being America-hating liberals, comparing Al Gore to Hitler, condoning the murder of Michael Moore, accusing Holocaust survivor George Soros of being a Nazi collaborator, joking about poisoning Nancy Pelosi, equating immigration reform with burning US citizens alive, publicly endorsing violent revolution, and winkingly telling his viewers not to get violent, all of which amounts to a speck on the tip of a very big iceberg.
You said;
Believe in self defence
and defence of others, such as the weak,
but don't talk it, especially in public.
It may influence others, others
who don't perceive nuance real
and imagined.
What good is believing in self-defense and the defense of others if you can't talk about it? How you are you going to defend yourself and the weak with silence? IMHO that's why we're in this mess because those who believe in self-defense and the defense of others are silenced.
There is no leftist equivalent to Ann Coulter, best-selling author and syndicated columnist, who has been a panelist on Fox's Hannity 28 times and was on Hannity & Colmes an additional 18 times, who has been a guest multiple times on The O'Reilly Factor, Geraldo at Large, Larry King Live, Huckabee, Your World with Neil Cavuto, Hardball, and other cable news shows, has made appearances on The Tonight Show, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The Daily Show, and Real Time with Bill Maher, and has co-hosted The View, and has also said that a baseball bat is "the most effective way" to talk to liberals, as well as: "We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too." And: "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building." And: "In [Clinton's] recurring nightmare of a presidency, we have a national debate about whether he 'did it,' even though all sentient people know he did. Otherwise there would be debates only about whether to impeach or assassinate."
You said;
No ambiguity in cross hairs, especially when used in targeting context.

Rationalizations, such as claim that it's surveyors' cross hairs, are disingenuous, spurious, and profane.
Per Melissa Ewen;
This is not an argument there is no hatred, no inappropriate and even violent rhetoric, among US leftists. There is.

This is evidence that, although violent rhetoric exists among US leftists, it is not remotely on the same scale, and, more importantly, not an institutionally endorsed tactic, as it is among US right wingers.

This is a fact. It is not debatable.
I will not apologize for standing up to the right-wing bully's. I am not culpable and neither are you.
The shooting in Tucson was not an anomaly. It was an inevitability.

And as long as we continue to play this foolish game of "both sides are just as bad," and rely on trusty old ablism to dismiss Jared Lee Loughner as a crackpot—dutifully ignoring that people with mental illness are more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators; carefully pretending that the existence of people with mental illness who are potentially dangerous somehow absolves us of responsibility for violent rhetoric, as opposed to serving to underline precisely why it's irresponsible—it will be inevitable again.
Democrats are the ones under attack. Democrats who defend the defenseless.
Congressman Danny Davis reportedly received a threatening email following Saturday's shooting rampage in Arizona.

U.S. Rep. Davis, a Democrat from Chicago, told the Chicago Tribune the email was sent to a staffer and read "Danny Davis is next," likely referencing the Saturday shooting. Davis' staff then notified the authorities.
That's not my fault or your fault. WE are not the ones culpable.
Since Rep. Gabriel Giffords (D-AZ) and others were shot in Tucson, AZ this weekend, Sarah Palin has received renewed criticism for a map her PAC posted last year with gun cross-hairs over the districts of several Democrats who voted for health care reform — including Giffords’. Hours after the shooting, Fox News — which employs Palin — aired scenes from a vigil in Phoenix, but when one mourner appeared to began to call out Palin’s incendiary rhetoric, the Fox feed abruptly went to commercial.
Nor is Keith Olberman for calling them out and telling the world who they are and what they stand for.

Fox News and Me, All Hate All the Time, UNfair and UNbalanced

If I ever doubted Fox News negative influence on our society I don't after today and the degree of the hate, lies and division in our country I don't after what happened to me today at a local Chevron Gas Station.

I frequent this particular Chevron station because they are one of the few full service gas stations. Meaning they pump your gas, check under your hood and wipe your windshield. Yeah you pay a little more, but when you're dressed to the nines heading to a function the last thing you want to do is pump gas. Today I decided to save a couple of pennies and pump my own gas, which meant I had to go inside to pay the attendant. Two women were inside watching television tuned to Fox News where the Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads were discussing, strike that, defending Juan William and bashing NPR for firing him because of his remarks about Muslims.
NPR has fired senior news analyst Juan Williams, who also appears as a commentator on Fox News, for comments about Muslims that Williams made in an appearance with Bill O’Reilly.

As Fox News reported it:

“I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country,” Williams told host Bill O’Reilly during a discussion on the dilemma between fighting jihadists and fears about average Muslims.

“But when I get on a plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they’re identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous,” Williams said.

The woman who swiped my card said, and I quote, "I don't blame him, I wouldn't want to sit next to a rag head on an airplane either."

I looked up from signing my receipt and we silently stared at each other for some long, uncomfortable seconds. I couldn't decide if I should say something or not. If I did say something what could I say? How I wish I could have made them take every drop of gasoline out of my tank. We continued to stare at each other without blinking. I finally broke the stare, politely said "Thank you" and left vowing never to spend another penny at that Chevron station again. I don't care if it's the last gas station on earth and it's pouring down raining and I'm about to run out of gas. I've notified my off spring and other immediate family members they are not to patronize the station either. The fact the woman felt comfortable making that comment to my face then daring me to say something about it speaks volumes about the state of race relations in this city, county, state and country. I won't get into the Juan Williams controversy, but the usual suspects wasted no time chiming in;
At Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government site, the headline is “Screw Free Speech, NPR Fires Juan Williams for Muslim Remarks.” Williams’ fellow Fox News contributor, Sarah Palin, just tweeted to the effect that “NPR defends 1st Amendment Right, but will fire u if u exercise it. Juan Williams: u got taste of Left’s hypocrisy, they screwed up firing you.”

The Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads scare me. They are predicting people who think like Andrew Breitbart and Sarah Palin are going to control Congress after the midterm elections. Let the polling pollsters tell it, the majority of the American people think the country is headed in the wrong direction. If they are right (no pun) and this is true. I weep for my city, my county, my state and my country.

Meanwhile Juan Williams is laughing all the way to the bank..
Even though he was fired from NPR, Juan Williams won't have to worry about keeping a roof over his head. The Los Angeles Times reported that Fox News has signed Williams to a new, three-year, $2 million contract. He will have an expanded role on the network and will write a column for FoxNews.com.

Bill Reilly and Newt Gingrich are calling on congress to investigate NPR. Ain't that a dip?

NPR is facing a storm of criticism for its decision to fire Juan Williams after his comments about Muslims on Fox News, with several prominent conservatives calling for NPR's government funding to be cut and refusing to appear on the network anymore.

Speaking on Fox News, both Bill Reilly and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich called for Congress to investigate NPR and cut its government funding in the wake of Juan Williams' firing from the organization.

Faux News, we distort what you decide.
Lord help us.
Turn off Fox!
VOTE!

So much hypocrisy, so little time.

The War on Terra Continues. A NATO airstrike mistakenly killed 28-30 people today. I'm with StevenD, How much longer is this madness going to continue? When will enough killing and bombing be enough? Bring our troops home. Bring them home now.
So why are we repeating the same mistakes made by other "super powers" of the past? In a time of extraordinary economic decline for most Americans we continue to pour precious resources into a conflict that we cannot "win" whatever "metric" one uses to measure "winning."
Congress should immediately reinstate funds to ACORN. This knee-jerk action by Congress was a travesty. It's been proven the whole Pimp story was a right wing funded set up and lie. ACORNS only crime was being a community organizing group. They need to go after the real Pimps, but of course they won't. That would be to much like right(pun intended).
O'Keefe got big accolades from a lot of the CPAC speakers and of course ACORN got ripped up one side and down the other.

Sometimes I think some of the elected people in DC never read anything and instead rely on each other regarding what to think. They jumped all over ACORN without really looking into the whole case.

I thought I read somewhere that a judge had said the govt. had to give ACORN the money they had already been promised.
Instead of going after ACORN they need to go after stuff like THIS.
Voters trying to cast ballots in Lower Oxford Township East stood in lines for so long that TV crews showed up to capture the scene. Some of those waiting ordered out for pizza. Sympathetic neighbors brought water and coffee. When the last vote was cast shortly before 11 p.m., polls were officially closing on the West Coast and Barack Obama had already been declared the winner.

Some of the 1,440 who voted there that day waited for seven to eight hours in the rain, queuing up close enough to working railroad tracks to reach out and touch passing freight cars. The tiny community center they waited to enter could accommodate only seven booths and one optical scanner. The adjacent parking lot was big enough for a dozen cars.

This wasn't a mistake. It was deliberate. It was the clearest example you could hope to find of partisan politics trumping common sense and civic duty.

Listen up Democrats! Bipartisanshop=Appeasement. When are you going to learn that appeasement doesn't work? It's not wise to appease republicans. It's how they turn the winners into the losers and the losers into the winners.
The theory is that if Democrats make a show out of reaching out to Republicans, but Republicans slap Democrats down every time and obstruct for the sake of obstructing, then Democrats will gain politically.

The reality is that Republicans gain in the polls if Democrats fail to pass legislation that improves people's lives, no matter the political theater of obstruction.
Thanks to the democratically controlled Congress, President Obama is afraid to lead. Seriously. They've made him afraid of the far left liberals, who have been right about everything from the war to the deficity in favor of the so called moderates and independents. The President's Healthcare Bill and What is Missing is proof.
There’s no public option in the Prez’s proposal which is a shame since polls show that the majority of Americans want a public option (such a dumb phrase), as good as say… Medicare or VA health benefits or even the government-sponsored program in which Sarah Palin’s son Tripp is hypocritically enrolled. The audacity of that woman — what’s good enough for her son is evidently not good enough for other Americans, it would seem.
Sarah Palin is the Hypocrit of the Decade.
As we all know, Sarah's suffering for her family is boundless, but this must be the worst of all. What is difficult to understand is why she doesn't use this most personal example of the horrors of government run health care in her public cries to prevent Obamacare. She normally isn't one to suffer in silence; maybe someone in the media will ask her to share the nightmare that her daughter must endure knowing, all day every day, that her son will receive health care regardless of her ability to afford it. Or maybe not.
Tiger Yoo? While the MSM was breathlessly parsing every word of Tiger Woods apology they totally ignored the story about John Woo and the Massacre Memo
In John Yoo's vision of executive power, the president can legally order a village of civilians "massacred," according to the internal Justice Department report released Friday.
The MSM calls Glenn Becks wild eyed rant *cough cough* Brave Criticism of the GOP. Give me a break.
Take a look at these headlines.

WaPo: “At CPAC, Glenn Beck scolds the Republican Party.“
MSNBC: “Beck criticizes Obama and the GOP.“
The Atlantic: “Beck Thumps GOP, Puzzling Conservatives.”
L.A. Times: “Glenn Beck to Republican Party: Repent.“
And on and on. If you only skimmed those headlines, you’d think that Beck went boldly into the belly of the beast, and had some kind of Sister Souljah moment.

Except Beck didn’t do that. He blew smoke up the CPAC audience’s white asses by simply reciting, verbatim, exactly the same tired spiel Republican leaders have been parroting nonstop since they lost control of Congress in 2006.
Are we in trouble yet?

All White is Not Right (pun intended)

We can no longer ignore the elephant in the room (yes that's another pun),or, as one of my list serve buddies says, "It's time to pull the sheets off the "Tea Baggers" and call them what they really are."

NEOCONS.

The Bush neocons realized they would never get back in with the party name
'REPUBLICAN' while the Republican Party tries to chave it's image and present
itself as less extreme.

Welcome TEA BAGGERS.

If PALIN is going to lead that party, that is EXACTLY WHAT IT IS;

NEOCON

In the aftermath of the so called Tea Party convention this weekend, we can no longer ignore the FACT the members are ALL WHITE and they despise President Obama. Sure they have a couple of token blacks so they can claim they are "diverse", but the majority of the members are white and bitter.

Yes I said it. They are bitter because they are afraid. They are afraid because they've been terrorised. They are bitter because they've been misinformed (lied to). They are clinging to their God and their guns out of pure unadulterated fear or retribution and retaliation for their past sins and transgressions. Black folks are going to pay them back for slavery and Jim Crow. Native Americans are going to get them for taking their land and giving them small pox. Hispanics are going to take over. Lesbians and gays are going to come out of the closet and be allowed to marry. Women are going to be allowed to kill their babies. The heathens and the unwashed are going to take our bibles and our guns. Get my drift?

This is what happens when the all white is not right media allows the public airways to be used to spread misinformation (lies) without impunity. This is what happens when the media lacks cultural diversity. This is what happens when the media censors and suppresses dissent. All fear all the time UNfair and Unbalanced, all terror all the time UNfair and UNbalanced,all war all the time UNfair and UNbalanced thrives when there is no truth.

What do you think the media would have said if after the selection of pResident George W. Bush guns sales boomed among Black folks?

"Definitely, it's because of Obama," said a saleswoman at Freddie Bear Sports in Tinley Park. The saleswoman, who declined to give her name, said that the boost is more for the "long guns," like AK-47s and assault rifles.

What if large groups of black folks organized into a Tea Party like movement and called George W. Bush a "socialist"?

Comedienne Janeane Garofalo held nothing back while discussing the “tea parties” with Keith Olbermann last night. Though the parties’ organizers claim they’re protesting taxes, Garofalo insists they’re nothing but “tea-bagging rednecks” who are simply motivated by “hating a black man in the White House.” She went on to say that participants “will believe anything you tell them, as long as it’s not the truth.” The truth, she claims, “confuses them.”

Olbermann basically agreed.

Compare how former Vice President Al Gore was treated by the media and in the media compared to Sarah Palin. Al Gore didn't become a paid, Faux News Talking TeeVee Pundit Head. He certainly was not the de facto leader of an organized movement giving red meat speeches against Bush and Dick.

Palin was mocking, asking, "How's that hope-y, change-y stuff working out for you?" and she was serious, especially while criticizing what she judged to be President Obama's too-measured approach to national security. A country at war, she said, needs "a commander-in-chief, not a professor of law."
Palin was folksy. Sticking our kids with the bill for deficit spending is a form of "generational theft" that makes us less secure, makes us less free, "and that should tick us off." Sure, solving the country's problems is tough, she added, but "If you can't ride two horses at once you shouldn't be in the circus."

The only black folks on TeeVee this Sunday morning are talking about the Super Bowl. There are no African American, Hispanic, native American Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads or host of cable talk shows. We used to be able to count on C-Span for diversity and fairness, but they've fallen prey to the all white is right rule too.

Until and unless we start having some real fairness and balance in the media, tea party groups will continue to thrive. Until and unless we have a free press that informs the public instead of distorting what we decide we will continue to send our sons and daughters to war based on dead wrong intelligence.

We can no longer ignore the elephant in the room.

All white is not right.

It's the stoopid.

Not talking about the racism isn't going to make it go away

Let's address it, not suppress it.

Peace Out.

Educational Apartheid Coming to Alabama
The enactment of Brown vs. Board (separate is not equal) was supposed to overturn Plessy vs. Ferguson (separate but equal), however 50 years after the passage of Brown vs. Board America's public schools The South has become the first region in the country where more than half of public school students are poor and more than half are members of minorities, according to a report by the Southern Education Foundation.
Southern schools are far more segregated now than they were at the height of integration in the ’70s and ’80s, a period that saw a narrowing of the achievement gap, said Gary Orfield, the co-director of The Civil Rights Project/Proyecto Derechos Civiles at U.C.L.A. The South has the lowest percentage of children in private school of any region, Mr. Orfield said.

Which makes you wonder why republicans and even some democrats are pushing for the enactment of Charter School legislation Alabama since a study finds Segregation rife at Charter schools.

Nearly 3 out of 4 black students who attend charters are in "intensely segregated" schools with student populations that are at least 90 percent minority, according to the study by the UCLA Civil Rights Project. That's twice the rate of regular public schools.

Almost a third of those black students are in what the researchers called "apartheid schools," where 0 to 1 percent of their classmates are white. Charter schools in the Bay Area and California have similar rates of racial isolation.

Guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people

A 14 year old student was shot and killed at school by another student today. The clueless talking teevee pundit heads are getting their information from face book and twitter and repeating the rumors the shooting is "gang related" what ever that means. But lost in all of the chatter is the fact a 14 year old bought a loaded gun to school and killed another 14 year old. Where did he get a gun? How did he manage to get it inside the school building? Instead of repeating facebook and twitter rumors , how about doing some investigating?

The Tea Baggers at the Grand Old Opry!
The "national tea party movement" is holding their first ever convention in Nashville, TN at the Opryland Hotel. I'll bet there is some big time square dancing and hee hawing going on. Sarah Palin is scheduled to speak tomorrow. Can't wait to here her mangle the English language. Tom Tancredo was her warm up act today. One of the Senator Mary Landreiu phone tappers was even spotted there. Nashville sounds like a good place to be from this weekend. Yee Haw!

Kidnapping in the name of the Lord

A group of American *ahem* missionaries were arrested and later indicted this week on charges of attempting to kidnap a group of Haitian children. As Booman blogger Terrancedc says

And kidnapping is a crime. It doesn't matter if you're taking a child out of a poor or disaster-stricken country. If you do the above, you are committing a criminal act. You are, in fact, a criminal.

And, no, it doesn't matter whether your purpose is profit or proselytizing. It doesn't matter if God, the Tooth Fairy, Charles Manson, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster told you do to it. It doesn't matter if your Baptist, Methodist, Episcopalian, or Rosicrucian. You do no have the right to just take a child. Your religion doesn't give it do you. Nor do your intentions. (Or what you say they are.)
As it turns out the ring leader of the group from Idaho (yes you read it right, Idaho) has some issues;

A CBS News employee who witnessed today's court proceedings says Silsby told the judge: "We were trying to do what's best for the children."

When the judge asked, "Didn’t you know you were committing a crime?" Silsby quietly answered, "We are innocent."

But CBS News correspondent Bill Whitaker reports there are serious questions tonight about Silsby's motives. The 40-year-old business woman, who convinced members of Idaho's Central Valley Baptist Church to follow her dream of an orphanage in Haiti, has a troubling financial history.

She's been the subject of eight civil lawsuits, 14 for unpaid wages, Whitaker reports. Her Meridian, Idaho house is in foreclosure. She's had at least nine traffic citations in the last 12 years including four for failing to register or insure her car.

Who Dat Gonna Beat them Saints?

I'm more excited about this years Super Bowl game between the Saints of New Orleans and the Colts of Baltimore than I've been in a long time. I was a Saints fan when they were the Ain'ts, so I'm hoping and praying they will be victorius this Sunday. But, IF the Colt's win I won't be mad because they are one of my favorite NFL teams too. It's a win win for me! I still can't understand why CBS thought it would be a good idea to air an anti abortion ad during the biggest game of the year, but since they did my friend and I are going to do our patriotic duty and moon the TeeVee in unison when it airs. :)

Peace Out.
