EYE #HOPE the #MainStreamMedia and the Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads are happy now. #Stupid

Step right up folks!  The white male dominated media enabled made for TeeVee Reality Presidency  show is about to start!   They will have lots of mayhem and misery for ratings to breathlessly report with wall to wall, 24/7 coverage.  EYE won't be watching.  EYE can't watch this trainwreck.  EYE just can't.  The revolution won't be televised, but driving the country into the ditch like drunk billionaires will be.

Can EYE Rant about #Drones #MicahJohnson #WhitePrivilegeMeans #Drones #USA and #BlackLivesMatter?

There used to be a radio disc jockey who used to say "If you are scared then say you are scared"  EYE am telling you right now EYE am scared of my government and for my country.  Whew. Feels good to finally get that out.  Why am EYE scared?  Because a drone was used to blow up an American citizen without a trial yesterday.  Let that sink in.
(RPI) The Dallas shootings have ushered in a very new world for U.S. citizens. For the very first time, a drone has been used on U.S. soil to kill an American without trial or charges.
The suspected shooter in yesterday’s tragic killings, U.S. Army veteran Micah Xavier Johnson, was, according to police and press reports, holed up in a parking garage and would not give himself up. After hours of what police claimed were fruitless negotiations with Johnson, a weaponized robot was sent to where he was hiding and blown up, taking Johnson with it.
EYE don't know if Micah Xavier Johnson is guilty of being a cold blooded cop killer or not and we will never know now because the Dallas PD decided to be judge, jury, and the executioner, which ironically is what the #BlackLivesMatter Movement is protesting against.
At this point nearly everything we know about Johnson comes from the Dallas police. Some of it does not ring true.
We don't know what we don't know.  We know what Fox News and the cable networks want us to know. Personally EYE am more afraid of the media  and the police than EYE am of the Black Lives Matter Movement.  The Black Lives Matter Movement is about saving lives, not taking lives.
Fox News wants you to be afraid, very afraid, of Black Lives Matter.
Meanwhile The Bahamas just issued a travel warning to the United States of America.  You know, the land of the free and the home of the brave.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration has taken a note of the recent tensions in some American cities over shootings of young black males by police officers,” the statement read. “We wish to advise all Bahamians traveling to the US but especially to the affected cities to exercise appropriate caution generally. In particular young males are asked to exercise extreme caution in affected cities in their interactions with the police. Do not be confrontational and cooperate.”
EYE was afraid to write this post, but EYE was more afraid not to write this post, because this is no who or what we are as a country.  We have to fix this people, because if we don't, it's not going to matter who the President IS.

What ever happened to the 5 W's? You know...Who, What, When, Where and Why?

This is the  media we have instead of the media we wish we had.
I'm confused. Fox calls itself "The Most Powerful Name in News." Halperin's breakthrough book, Game Change, was praised as "a marvel of reporting," and Halperin and coauthor John Heilemann were said to "have an uncanny ability to get scoops other reporters don't."
So, um, if Halperin and Fox are such powerful news gatherers, such "uncanny" scoop-getters, why don't they know who this guy is?

Is it because discovering who he is would involve actual, y'know, reporting?

What do you wanna bet Dr. Phil won't be invited back on Fox News?

Dr. Phil schools Fox:
Fox News recently brought in celebrated TV therapist, Dr. Phil, to educate their staff on the inequalities between black and white kids in America. Now, with riots in Baltimore spreading throughout the country, Brian Kilmeade seemed befuddled, essentially whining, 'why do these people keep making problems for America?'

Watch As Fox News rolls out their campaign to demonize the protesters in Baltimore we have a rare and unexpected defender Dr. Phil, who stepped in to teach the hosts of Fox about the nature of the grievances of the Baltimore community. John Iadarola, Jimmy Dore and Ana Kasparian of The Young Turks.
" For being so dangerous to the public, many of the Fox hosts seem clueless. I suppose that's why they are so dangerous."
There is nothing more dangerous than ignorance in action..

"Real Talk" about what to do if you're stopped by the police in black and white

Artist Michael D’ Antuono created a powerful painting portraying what many African-American parents experience when trying to explain to their sons the gross injustice surrounding the killings of Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, Tamir Rice or the many other young black men killed by the hands of law enforcement.

Palm Card: What to Do If You're Stopped by the Police (English and Spanish) (2011) Thumbnail
  • Don’t get into an argument with the police.
  • Never bad-mouth a police officer.
  • Remember, anything you say or do can be used against you.
  • Keep your hands where the police can see them.
  • Don’t run.
  • Don’t touch any police officer.
  • Don’t resist even if you believe you are innocent.
  • If you complain at the scene, or tell the police they’re wrong, do so in a non-confrontational way that will not intensify the scene.
  • Do not make any statements regarding the incident.
  • If you are arrested, ask for a lawyer immediately.
  • Remember officers’ badge numbers, patrol car numbers and physical descriptions.
  • Write down everything you remember ASAP.
  • Try to find witnesses and their names and phone numbers.
  • If you are injured, take photos of the injuries as soon as possible, but make sure you get medical attention first. Ask for copies of your medical treatment files.
Must Reads:

Eye will close with some misinformation and faulty logic from the designated African American black attacker on Fox.
COOPER: In the black community, we need to have a conversation that’s unemcumbered by the radical left and progressives’ agenda that tries to use government coercion to address some problems. Here’s the reality: black Americans, like myself, we have an elevated risk of death that will come – not from law enforcement but that will come from other black Americans.
…According to the CDC, the second most likely contributor to that disparity is homicide. There is no other ethnic group that homicide ranks as high and the statistics actually show it’s black people killing other black people. …If no other ethnic group faces this risk, it is a sign that there’s a disparate amount of criminality happening in this one group.

RedEye's RoundUp

Before I type another word, I want to thank all of my followers, readers, lurkers, and contributors.  Your support continues to humble and amaze me.  If anyone is interested in becoming a contributor,  submit a righting sample to redeyeblog.Alabama@yahoo.com.  All points of view are NOT welcome.  Meaning, red, republican, right wing contributors need not apply.  This is a blue, hard left, progressive, liberal blog.  Truth, and nothing but the truth is spoken here.  The purpose of the blog is to be a voice for voiceless and to inform the public.  If you want to promote right wing talking points and misinformation do it on your own blog.  There is no Fairness Doctrine, remember?
Now on to the Roundup:

Black On Black Crime my Donkey!
Ongoing protests against police brutality have revealed how distorted the American discourse on crime is. The biggest myth animating this discourse is black criminality: the notion that black people commit more crime, and therefore deserve more heavy-handed policing
How about some Black on Black Justice?
A Black People’s Grand Jury in St. Louis, Missouri, this weekend delivered a “true bill of indictment” for first degree murder against former Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the death of Black teenager Michael Brown. Black people “can and must take matters into our own hands,” said Omali Yeshitela, one of four prosecutors that presented evidence, not only of Wilson’s personal guilt, but the institutional culpability of the entire regional criminal justice system in the murder and subsequent whitewash of the crime.
I HOPE George Zimmerman's attorney turned CNN legal analysist, the jury, the prosecutors, the judge and the media are happy now.

You won't hear it on TeeVee or the so called mainstream media because it doesn't fit the media driven narrative, but Common's acceptance speech for winning a Golden Globe award for best original song was as the young people say, "Off the Chain".

Speaking of the mainstream media, would someone tell them they are the only ones' gushing over Christ Christi, Jeb Bush, and Mitt Romney?  Real people, not so much....
The House will vote Thursday on what Republicans are calling the "Save American Workers Act," a proposal that would make it easier for employers to cut their workers' hours and paychecks and eliminate their benefits. It's a "fix" to Obamacare that would change the definition of full-time work from 30 hours per week to 40. As the law stands, employers with 50 or more workers have to either provide insurance to 95 percent of their full-time employees or pay a fine. Republicans say that their proposal will create more full-time jobs.
Sometimes a loss is a victory
While the Republicans continue to fight among themselves over who can do more to obstruct progress in this Country, the President continues to lead this country and carry out the will of the American people, and proves once again that there isn't a conservative in America who has ever read the Constitution.

Update: If journalistic intergrity means anything to you read, sign, and share this petition

A screen grab from the Fox 45 story.

UpdateThe Fox 45 reporter and the photographer are taking the fall for the news director.
The reporter and the photographer responsible for misquoting Tyrone West's sister, Tawanda Jones, at a protest rally in Washington, D.C., reporting she and others chanted "kill a cop," have been let go by Fox 45, according to two sources confirming a report that first appeared on the site FTVLive.com. - See more at: http://www.citypaper.com/blogs/the-news-hole/bcp-the-fox-45-crew-behind-the-bogus-kill-a-cop-story-has-been-let-go-20141231,0,2353761.story#sthash.OqidMFY0.dpuf

For those who remember the recent Baltimore-based Fox News affiliate WBFF’s deplorable attempt at misrepresentation of peaceful protests in the midst of the Black Lives Matter movement dominating the country since the murderers of Michael Brown and Eric Garner were cut loose of any charges, a petition is now being circulated calling for those responsible for the devious misrepresentation to be fired and for the station to receive large FCC fines.

Faux News Distorting What You Decide Redux #FergusonGrandJury #SandyMcElroy

Before I type another word, let me express my gratitude to the Smoking Gun for being the media I wish we had instead of the media we have.  Thanks to them we know the #FergusonGrandJury was a farce and a fraud.  Thanks to them we know there were two witnesses who said didn't have hands up surrendering. One was not actually there. The other was

Read all about How Fox News Ran with Bogus Testimony Given to the Grand Jury
On December 8, St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch released additional details about the grand jury documents his office made public last month after no charges were brought against Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown. As a result, more details have come to light showing that the testimony of one particular grand jury witness was a sham—testimony that was repeatedly touted by Fox News' Sean Hannity and other pundits who defended Wilson and the grand jury's decision.
It ought to be against the law to give bogus testimony to the Grand Jury.

Oh wait.....
Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States, was impeached by the House of Representatives on two charges, one of perjury and one of obstruction of justice, on December 19, 1998. Two other impeachment articles, a second perjury charge and a charge of abuse of power, failed in the House. He was acquitted of both charges by the Senate on February 12, 1999.[1]

Fox News Caught on Tape Distorting What You Decide with all Spin all the Time, UNfair & Unbalanced. Lovely.

In an attempt to discredit Rev. Al Sharpton and the massive #JusticeForAll marches held all over the country last weekend, Fox News proved once and for all they hate us for our freedom.  That's the only conclusion I can draw from their attempt spin #BlackLivesMatter  into an anti cop crusade by editing a piece of video tape to make it seem demonstrators  had chanted calls to kill police during his speech,  making the divide between the police and protesters even worse.  For some reason the site of large groups of black people marching for truth, justice, and the American way, just doesn't sit well with some people.

Let's recap
During the broadcast, they showed a clip from a protest last night in Manhattan where some people were reportedly heard chanting “What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want it? Now!” The video then flipped to Sharpton leading a peaceful rally where he says,  “We’re not saying all police are bad. We’re not even saying most are bad. We’re not anti-police, but we’re anti-brutality. And the federal government must have a threshold to protect that.”
The intention of the shoddy editing was to make Sharpton look like a hyprocite, although anyone paying attention could see the clips were from drastically different times of day. That didn’t stop the hosts from using this footage as evidence that the protestors had ill intentions.
About that "What do we want? Dead cops!' video,..notice how far the camera shot is from the crowd, but how clear their words are? We can't see the faces of the people but we can hear their words?  And how come Fox News is the only network that reported these chantsMakes you go Hmmmm doesn't it?

For the record, no one, I repeat no one, wants cops or anyone else dead. Nor are the protest an indictment of all cops.  To say that all cops kill unarmed black men, women, and children without impunity is like saying all black people are thugs, and we know that's not true.  To say #BlackLivesMatter does not mean that white lives, and police lives don't matter.
To : yes, cops kill white people, but young Black men are 21 TIMES MORE LIKELY to be killed by cops than young white men
This movement is about equality not vengeance. We are not a divided country. It's ONE Nation, with Liberty and Justice for all. The sooner Fox News realizes this the better off we all will be.

Update~ Throwback Thursday #Ferguson Round Up

The fickle, white, male dominated, mainstream media is bored with #Ferguson and #MikeBrown. They have shut this story down tighter than a drum, and moved on to the next, bright, shiny object.  The Revolution may not be televised, but it will continue to be blogged about on RedEye's Page.
In order to halt any real conversation, one of the tools often used by right wing media is to cast every issue as an either/or. Media Matters has been doing a pretty good job lately of showing how Fox News edited the remarks of President Obama and AG Eric Holder about the situation in Ferguson by eliminating the balance in their statements. They aired only the side of these remarks that was sure to inflame their audience and eliminated the side conservatives might have agreed with.
I  must say Fox News is doing their part.
It didn’t take long for people to start rallying to Darren Wilson’s defense.  In less than a week, several hundred thousand dollars had been raised on his behalf — with a healthy smattering of hateful racist messages in support, such as “I would have donated double this amount, but you missed his accomplice” — and Fox News had run a flood of false, unsourced stories, claiming that Wilson’s eye socket had been broken, implicitly “proving” that he had been in a heroic struggle for his life.
Only in America can you kill a black teen and earn 6 figures.
When you shoot and kill an unarmed Black teenager, you can expect the racists of America to crack their piggy banks open and reward you a six-figure sum.
Over the weekend, Darren Wilson’s supporters gathered for a rally, and sadly, they had much to celebrate now that it’s being reported that they’ve managed to best supporters of Michael Brown’s family in online fundraising. Indeed, the page in support of Wilson raised $235,010 from 5,902 people before organizers stopped accepting donations on Friday. They surpassed their goal of $100,000 in just four days. They have since opened another fundraising page, which has already amassed more than $100,000.
Meanwhile, a fundraising page in support of the Michael Brown Memorial Fund raised $214,000. According to Brown family laywer Benjamin Crump, “the funds will assist his family with costs that they will acquire as they seek justice on Michael’s behalf.”
What exactly does Darren Wilson need money for? He’s on paid leave, and wherever he is, I presume it’s on the state’s dime. After all, Darren Wilson was concealed long enough to get out of town before the national media arrived.
An Open Letter to the People of Ferguson, Mo.
"We have felt your frustration at the uncomfortable realization that your protestors have been unfairly branded as looters, vigilantes, and rioters by segments of the ignorant, sensationalist news media".
Today marks the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.  It's a good thing it wasn't held 50 years later because protesters would have been greeted (snark) with tanks, guns, snipers with assault rifles, dogs, tear gas, and police masquerading as the military.  It's not like the #Ferguson protestors were protesting against  paying taxes or something.

Voter suppression is not something made up by paranoid African Americans

African Americans are constantly told that voter suppression is some made up pipe-dream by-election stealing African American voters.

We are told we are "stupid" and there is no such thing as voter suppression.

Except clearly there is.  The Washington Post Aaron Blake writes this:
Black voters played a huge role in delivering Barack Obama to the White House in 2008 and 2012. And in 2014, they will play a huge role in determining whether the president's party can stop Republicans from taking the Senate.
So I guess we are supposed to believe it's a coincidence the first things red, republican controlled state legislatures did when they became the majority is enacted strict Voter ID laws under the guise of combating almost nonexistent "voter fraud." ?
Despite the GOP’s avowal to reach out to new constituencies following the 2012 election, Republican state legislators have continued to support new voting restrictions in 2013. According to a report by Project Vote, fifty-five new voting restrictions have been introduced in thirty states so far this year. “The 2013 legislative season has once again brought an onslaught of bills to restrict access to the ballot, including proposals to undercut important election laws that have recently opened the electorate to more voters,” writes Erin Ferns Lee. These measures include “strict photo ID policies…voter registration restrictions; voter purges; [felon] disenfranchisement; and policies to cut back or revoke voting laws that have made voting more convenient.” By my count, 235 new voting restrictions have been introduced in forty-four states over the past three years.
And where does the majority of the outcry of voter fraud come from?  It comes from republicans and sore losers who don't think African-Americans should have the right (pun intended) to vote unless they are voting for republicans of course.
So here we are, 3 months before a primary and we will have the usual jokers out moaning that Voter ID laws will suppress turnout in the black community. From the President Barack Obama tore into state voter ID laws Friday when speaking to the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, accusing Republicans of trying to block minorities, women and seniors from voting and calling the laws a fraud.
But the reality is much better than this, it will suppress illegal turnout in the black community.
Just so you know Radio Boy, there is no illegal turnout in the black community.  The right to vote is scared to the black community.  It is steeped in blood, sweat, tears, courage, and sacrifice.  It is the only weapon we have to protect the very freedoms you hate us for having.
That's why we don't think Voter Suppression with the State Seal of Approval is funny. It's why we shake our heads at the tough Voter ID Laws enacted by red republican state legislatures. It's why we get weep silently when real voter fraud/suppression gets a slap on the wrist, and the imagined voter fraud is prosecuted to the full extent of the law. It's like  1965 all over again.

"Dear Santa, it's me Melissa"

A letter to Santa Claus, racial lightening rod
So given that I know a little something about how awful it is to have cable news hosts unwittingly launch an army of angry trolls in your direction, this is not a letter to Kelly. I thought I’d address my letter to the man who is used to getting an awful lot of mail this time of year.

It's not about Santa Claus, it's about President Obama

I mean we are talking about a magical man who slides down your chimney down every Christmas Eve
In another glaring example of the media enabled stereotype that everything white is good, and everything black  (except black Friday)  is bad,  Fox News' Megyn Kelly,  along with three white guests asserted  Santa Claus just is white.
The argument that Santa must be white spills over into conversations about other, equally fictional characters. Can James Bond or Spider-Man be played by people of color? Why not? And yet some people will tell you—believe me—that they have to be white. Of course, some people also believe that characters who were written as people of color are not actually people of color. Which goes to show how deeply rooted the idea of “whiteness” as the default really is. And that presumption carries over into our everyday lives as well, sometimes with sad results.
White Santa=Good
White President=Good

Most white Americans see blacks, anyone who is visibly African, as inferior. In the past, they used this to justify owning slaves. Today it justifies the inequality between the races.~Abagond

GOP playing the Race Card from their Race Deck

Token Black  RNC Spokesman: "What Exactly Has the President Done for the Black Community.  More to the point,  what has the RNC done to, I mean, for the Blacks?
What has the GOP done for blacks?
Voter suppression
Cutting food stamps
Cutting Pell Grants
Denying health care
Bankrupting Detroit, Governor cut back block grants to Detroit
Gutting Head Start
Cutting education
Enriching charter school administrators
Spending more on prisons than education
GOP achievement that they are so proud of.

Race cardSomething white people say when they want to belittle black folks problems.

Media Is Growing More White, but don't tell anyone.
As the American Society of Newspaper Editors has reported, racial and ethnic minorities make up less than 13 percent of newsroom employees. Minority ownership of television stations hovers around 3 percent, while radio station ownership is at 7 percent, despite the fact that the minority population of the U.S. is roughly 28 percent.

Brooke Baldwin and Don Lemon...this is CNN

Don Lemon isn't the first CNN Talking TeeVee Pundit Head to promote the Fox News false, black-on-black crime, narrative,  to deflect from the real issues surrounding the injustices in the Trayvon Martin case.

The black-on-black crime argument says that blacks in America have no right to complain about white-on-black crime till they do something about black-on-black crime. It is a racist deflection.
Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Chris Wallace and others on the right used the argument in the days after the George Zimmerman verdict. Whitewashed people bring it up whenever crime and race are at issue.

Remember this?

"Would you, would fellow African-American Congress members care as much if Trayvon were white?"  When I heard Brooke Baldwin ask Representative Corrine Brown (D. FL) this question I had to check my TeeVee to see If I had accidentally tuned into Fox News. Shudder

What's wrong with this argument?
It allows the white press to determine reality, which makes it seem like Zimmerman is an exception while no one is doing anything about black-on-black crime. As it turns out, on average there is a Zimmerman-style shooting (armed security person or vigilante killing an unarmed black person) once every 28 hours. Trayvon Martin is just what made the papers. His case is hardly the worst nor the only one to get protests. Likewise, there is plenty being done about black-on-black crime, like by the Nation of Islam, but the white press is not particularly interested in reporting that either. Even worse, the white press turns a blind eye to the bad policing that leads to a high black crime rate. Yet, somehow, it always seems to find time to show black male suspects on the 11 o’clock news.

It's the Media.

Until Don Lemon, Bill O'Reilly and other are willing to address the root causes of violence, they need to shut the hell up. Don Lemon, why didn't you rant on and on about poverty, unemployment, gun control, inferior schools and mass incarceration?
Why?  Because that would be too much like right (no pun intended).

RedEye's Front Page is experiencing technical difficulties.  Thank you for your patience until I get it worked out, which I hope will be in the near future because there is lots to write to about, from Karl Rove being benched by Fox News (are the Rattlesnakes beginning to turn on each other), to Bob Costas being forced to back down from the NRA (National Rifle Association), not to mention the ongoing war on Public School Teachers.

Look for more on these topics and more once I get the problems corrected.

House Representative Paul Ryan, the gift that keeps on giving

Mitt Romney proved once again he has no spine, and like the gop nominee before him,  gave in to the segment of voters who hate President Obama more than they love themselves, or their country.

Surely the gop can do better than this.  But then again......
