Snowy Saturday Reading List and Week in Review

I guess the media believes if they regurgitate republican talking points over and over again the American people will believe it's the truth instead of a media-driven narrative.  Here's the deal, in a nutshell, Republicans refuse to budge on tax breaks for the rich, President Obama refuses to cut Social Security and Medicare.  And that my friends is all you really need to know.

Don't forget this is the same media who enabled Bush and Dick to take our troops to war based on DEAD WRONG INTELLIGENCE, and who told us the 2012 presidential election was going to be close.  As a matter of fact, what has the media been right (no pun) about lately?

There is one thing I will agree with the Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads on, President Obama has no one to blame but himself for this sad, sorry, state of affairs.  Why he didn't believe republicans when they said they wanted him to fail I don't know.  Did he honestly believe the Sequester would be so awful republicans would compromise?  Everybody knows you can't compromise with a Suicide Bomber.  Their mission is to blow you up if they have to blow themselves up in the process...... so be it.

The Republican war on black voters, I mean entitlements, was in full force last week.  Everyone is expecting the Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II Supreme Court to overturn Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 since it was the only thing that prevented Republicans from stealing the election...again.

Republican hubris mushroomed into Republican arrogance as Alabama republicans invited Alabamians to kiss it this week under the guise they helping poor children flee failing schools.
By using this twilight legerdemain to pass a complex, watershed piece of legislation, Republicans avoided any input from our state's educators, from our state's financial experts and, most important, from we the people.
What an open display of contempt for the public: No need to bother writing your state senator or representative about your thoughts on tax credits to raise money for private schools. They don't need to hear from the likes of you.
Republican legislators disappeared into a cloakroom and practically had their way with us while we didn't even know it.
If Republicans are having their way with us, shouldn't we at least enjoy it?  I mean, really?
“Republicans heralded it as a historic day for education and life-altering for children stuck in poorly performing schools. But tempers boiled over as Democrats called the maneuver “sleaziness” and a “bait and switch.”"
On the other side of the aisle:
Rep. Mary Moore, D-Birmingham, as she was leaving the House chamber threw her hands over her head and shouted, “Welcome to the new confederacy where a bunch of white men are now going to take over black schools.”
Blast from the past re-post.
I've noticed a renewed interest in WTF did Joe Reed to do you?, which gave me the opportunity to correct some typo's and update some links. The original content is unchanged. Looking back I have to wonder how Left in Alabama feels about Joe Reed now. Their candidate, Artur Davis ,was anti AEA and pro privatizing  public education in Alabama, and he was backed by the business community in and outside of the state.  That's a group with little love for entitlements, I mean,  social programs such as access to quality, affordable health care, equal access to a quality public education, a poor woman's right to choose to have a safe, legal abortion, access to birth control, LBGT rights, and the right to vote, and have that vote count.

LAST MINUTE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SELMA TOMORROW!

We just found out some different procedures for tomorrow due to Secret Service for the Vice-President.
We will still be distributing shirts and signs, but we will not know for certain exactly where we can set up until we get there in the morning.
So just look for this banner of Gov. Siegelman and that is where we will be.
Some other things to note is EVERYONE will have to go through metal detectors.
The Bridge Crossing will still begin at 1:30. The march from Brown Chapel AME Church to the bridge will begin at 11:00am.
If we understood it correctly, Vice-President will speak at the bridge prior to the crossing at 1:30.
We'll figure it all out, but we will make sure we get these signs and t-shirts distributed to you before 1:30.
 Happy reading!

RedEye's Week in Review Hypocrisy Edition

The prize for hypocrisy in the name of Lord goes to Chik-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy, who says he respects LBGT workers and patrons in spite of the fact they are inviting the wrath of God with their lifestyle.    Translation the CEO of Chik-fil-A worships  money more than he fears God's wrath. Amen and Amen.

  • With Democrats like Craig Ford who needs republicans?  Craig Ford is the latest so called democrat who believes the way to the Governor's office is to pander to the right at the expense of the traditional democratic base.  He should ask his friend Artur Davis (r. turncoat VA) how that worked out for him.

Second prize for hypocrisy goes to LiA bloggers countrycat and mparus, who don't want to revoke Craig Ford's membership in the Alabama Democratic party, and are standing up for marriage equality but had no problem revoking my front page and posting privileges because I stood up for who I believed in,  and what I believed in.

I was forced to watch CNN this week because MSNBC aired the Olympics during the day, and I would rather run through hell with a pair or gasoline drawers on than watch Faux News.  Remember when CNN used to be the most trusted names in news?  Where is CNN (said in my best James Earl Jones voice)?

In their effort not be called liberal (like that was a bad thing), they turned into Fox Wanna Be. No wonder the CNN chief is "stepping down" because the network needs new thinking.  Ya think?

Psst CNN!  Check out Newsroom on HBO, it's the kind of media we wish we had instead of the media we have.

The Rightards are licking their chops at the prospect of former Governor Don Siegelman (D.) being re sentenced for crime he shouldn't have been sentenced for in the first place,  by the same judge who sentenced him the first time.  Confused yet?

All I'm going to say is if Siegelman is sent back to prison for being too liberal,  it will be because  democratic leadership didn't confront  the right wing Bullies.

If democratic leadership is afraid to stand up to the right wing Bullies,  maybe we should all be afraid, and just bend over and take our Gang Banging like Girlie Men.  I'm just saying...If the Left were anything like the right....

Noted scholar and world leader Evo Morales has definitively proven that eating chicken causes male homosexuality. Why? Because chickens that are raised to be eaten are artificially injected with female hormones to make them plump and tasty.  Thus, when a male eats the hormone-filled chicken, it will cause him to deviate from normal maleness and therefore TURN INTO A HOMOSEXUAL.

    "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come"

The original illegal immigrants. Pilgrim William Brewster holds a Bible as the Pilgrims pray for a safe journey as they leave for America from Delft Haven, Holland, on July 22, 1620.

    Hello Everyone!

I will be on a semi vacation from the BlogOsphere this week, thankfully spending time with friends and family, enjoying good food and lots of football. Posting will be light, but feel free to browse around, comment, and post links.

This is also the third anniversary of my boot from the front pages of Left in Alabama, so I will conduct my annual blog stroll down memory lane.

My, how time flies when you are having fun. Three years and 508 post later, I am thankful the Cats invited and encouraged me to to begin blogging at Left in Alabama.   I'm really thankful they encouraged me to start my own blog so I could continue to be a voice for the voiceless. Im especially thankful they banned me from the front pages, thereby forcing me to start RedEye's Front Page.

Last year I wrote about The Civil War Within the Alabama Democratic Party. A war that rages on as self described conservative democrat Rep. Craig Ford mulls Alabama governor's race in '14. Everybody knows conservative democrat is nod, nod, wink , wink for I am running on the democratic ticket to take advantage of the democratic black voting block but I will govern like a republican.

Mull on this Rep. Ford....I don't care how many African Americans you have standing behind you in your photo op, RedEYE will NOT be voting for a conservative democrat for governor or anything else. If RedEYE wanted a republican governor RedEYE would vote for a republican governor. The lessor of two evils is still evil.

I was also writing about Charter Schools last year, and it looks like DeJa Voodoo all over again. I invite you to read Merts Center Monitor and Geek Pavaler for in depth analysis and informed commentary about the sorry state of the Huntsville City School System.

I'm thankful for the gop clown show , but will it force conservatives to look at themselves in the mirror? Is anyone surprised the so called Super Committee failed? After all they don't work for us, we work for them. Snark

Here is a little something to chew on besides turkey:
Segregation has come to the South once again, if it ever left, that is. A new report from the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, a Washington, DC-based think tank, warns that the blacks are out of luck in Dixie, and out of the game.
    Sigh

Happy and safe Thanksgiving to all of y'all!

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere"~Edit

Government action is not the whole answer to the present crisis, but it is an important partial answer. Morals cannot be legislated, but behavior can be regulated. The law cannot make an employer love me, but it can keep him from refusing to hire me because of the color of my skin. Martin Luther King,Jr.

Regular readers know I started Redeye's Front Page after my front page privileges were revoked at Left in Alabama for allegedly posting factually incorrect information on the front page and refusing to correct it after it was pointed out to me. I was also accused of writing about race too much, making those who disagreed with me feel like they were racist, always wanting to have the last word and told if I wanted to have freedom of speech to start my own blog. Which I did, but even now anonymous commenter's post the same criticisms and attempt to tell me what and how I should write on this blog and accuse me of being obsessed with Left in Alabama blah, blah, blab, blab. But that's OK, I firmly believe in freedom of speech and the right for everyone to express their point of view. I respect individual freedoms and individual rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Is it too much to ask for the same respect in return?

It's not the first time I've been banned from a forum because of my point of view, and it probably won't be the last, because for some reason blog administrators and right wing talk show host believe they own the public airways but I digress, but each and every time it happens I will "whine" about it loud and clear. Silence helps the oppressor, not the oppressed.

I make no apologies for being opinionated, my daddy taught me to give as good as I get, to fight fair, win like a winner and to lose like a winner. He also taught me to stand up for my rights, to stand up for the rights of others, and to encourage others to take the same just stand.

Which brings me to the latest chapter in the Left in Alabama vs Redeye Saga and exposes the real difference between liberals and conservatives. Strike that, it exposes the difference between fairness and unfairness. One of the front pagers, as they are known, posted a diary in what I believe is a backhand attempt to use the Constitution of the United States of America to justify practicing discrimination like the religious right use the bible to justify their actions under the guise of compassionate conservatism. In the course of the discussion one of the resident righty's takes the sheet off and exposes the power of white supremacy and privilege.
You are correct that I left when I felt my point of views were disruptive and unappreciated as opposed to contributing to the conversation. I think it is fair to state that I attempt to leave as graciously as I could muster. I did not whine or carp about others being unfair.

My point is that you have a great deal to add to the conversation. Use your posts, even if limited, to provoke serious discussion. If you wish to do a point - counterpoint routine, let me know and I will take the opposite side. Do not lessen your attributes by constanting carping about the rules. Sadly all of us must abide my rules we are not particularly fond of.
Note the patronizing, condescending tone of the comments? I couldn't respond on LiA because my username is disabled, OP I hope you're reading.

Why am I not surprised you are on the side of injustice? What worries me the most about your position is that you say you are an officer of the courts where justice is blind and citizens are entitled to equal justice. It worries me greatly someone with your point of view is/was in a position of power.

No OP, it's not about abiding by rules we are not "particularly fond of". Rules are fair not fond. Those of us committed to equality and social justice work within the system to repeal unjust rules. What if Rosa Parks had just abided by the rule that she had to ride at the back of the bus, or stand if there were no seats so a white person could sit down? What if Martin Luther King, Jr. and others had just gone along to get along with rules of Jim Crow? What if our LBGT sisters and brothers didn't fight for their right to fight for our country? Rules should apply equally. One set of rules for one person/group and another set rules for another group is discrimination. I'm surprised as an officer of the court you don't know this. I worry about the fate of those who came before you seeking justice in a court of LAW.

I appreciate your concern for my "attributes" but as for me I will continue to protest the double standard and the unfair treatment, because that is who I am and what I am about. Freedom and equal justice is a right not a privilege.

So much hypocrisy, so little time

Excuse me, but if you campaign on a platform form of ethics reform, shouldn't you at least have some ethics?

If you run on a platform of taking out the trash in Montgomery, shouldn't your own damn house be clean?

If you hold candidates and and elected officials to the highest ethical and moral standards shouldn't you hold yourself to those same standards?

If you uphold the principle that All men/women are created equal and are entitled to equal rights how do you justify discrimination?

Consider this a righteous Redeye Rant because I am sick and tired of all the double talk and back talk. The cats and other critters over at Left in Alabama seem shocked the Alabama gop used ethics/reform and anti corruption as a campaign slogan.
With Governor Riley's ethics reform proposals, the Republican Wrecking Crew is at it again and they are making yet another effort to Defund the Left by wrecking the Democratic Party by starving its constituent movements or shutting down the avenues by which its leaders receive contributions.
Now, we have the outlines of Governor Riley's ethics reform package. Two key proposals of Governor Bob Riley's ethics reform package are nothing more than a blatant attempt to defund the Left and the AEA, a key interest group within the Alabama Democratic Party. Those are the proposals to prohibit AEA from collecting dues by payroll deduction and the ban on so-called "double dipping," i.e., so as to prohibit a member of the Alabama Legislature from holding another government job including public school jobs. Both of these proposals have already passed in a Senate committee.

I tried to tell them this was about putting Dr. Joe Reed in his place, but did they listen? Noooo. According to them Joe Reed is the cause of all of Alabama's ills. He's the reason the Alabama legislature turned from blue to blood red. Never mind that Joe Reed wasn't the head of the Alabama Democratic Party and has never been the head of the Democratic Party. Never mind that Joe Reed has spent his life fighting for the rights of the disenfranchised. Never mind Joe Reed was the duly elected leader of the Alabama Education Association. Never mind Joe Reed was not afraid to speak truth to power. Never mind all of those things. Joe Reed had to be put in his place once and for all because it was time for some *ahem* new leadership.

By new leadership I suppose they mean someone who will be the opposite of Joe Reed. Well are you happy with your "new leadership" now? Are you happy the good guys have been replaced by the bad guys? Any teacher who voted for the Alabama gop will get what they deserve. They bit of their nose to spite their face. But don't worry, the Alabama Democratic Party, Dr. Joe Reed and Dr. Paul Hubbert will save you, because that's the kind of organization/people they are. They fight for what is right.
''This is about power,'' said Sen. Bobby Singleton, D-Greensboro. ''This is about a group that has not had power for 136 years. These are mechanisms by which they will be able to maintain power in this august body.''
Voters on Nov. 2 broke more than a century of Democratic control of the Legislature. Republicans now run both the House and Senate.
Sen. Roger Bedford, D-Russellville, said the bill "rises to the top of petty politics.'' He said Riley pushed for the bill to punish AEA and ASEA because they didn't support his favorite candidate for governor, Bradley Byrne. Byrne lost the Republican primary to Gov.-elect Robert Bentley.

wargolem has one of the best explanations of the rank gop hypocrisy and what it means for teachers, strike that, liberals in Alabama.
As for me i personally know what i call it - Hypocrisy 101. This particular person said of his opponent during the election "Well all he did was go down there to montgomery and vote himself a raise." Guess what? All you did was go down there and the first thing you did was to screw over the teachers and they tend to have a long memory.
Redeye Rant over and out...for now.

My Big RedEye on Terri Sewell

Representative elect Sewell, my big REDEYE will be trained on you like a laser beam. Remember it's not about YOU, it's about the voters of the 7th district. I HOPE and PRAY you prove me wrong, not for MY sake, but for the sake of the the 7th district.

    h/t gradyw

Alabama now has one Democratic member of Congress who's top paid adviser has no strong ties to the 7th Congressional District. Prior to her employment with Congresswoman Sutton she worked for the Homeland Security Committee.
That's right (pun intended) Terri Sewells top advisor has no strong ties to the 7th Congressional District, but as gradyw points out, she has strong ties to Emily's List. It also may explain why Emiliy's list wanted to buy an Alabama Congressional Seat so badly.

    Who is Women Vote?
An organization by the name of Women Vote has been created to help funnel money into the Terri Sewell campaign. Today, they just made an independent expenditure for $8500
So who is Women Vote? Not an Alabama organization, but an organization with an address listed at

    1120 Connecticut Ave NW
    Ste 1100
    Washington, DC 20036
The same address as Emily's List.

So our impression is that Emily's List changed the name on this PAC so that it did not look like it was dumping more money in this race.

Why is a pro-choice group expending so much of its resources into one race where you end up with the first African-American Congresswoman from Alabama? We are still trying to figure that one out, let us know if you have any ideas.

    mooncat notes Reynolds other connections:
Reynolds was most recently chief of staff for Betty Sutton (D, OH-13), a Congresswoman with a pretty progressive record. Sutton came out against the catfood committee, is a member of the Populist Caucus, not the Blue Dogs and originated the Cash for Clunkers program. Given that as Ms. Reynolds' most recent assignment, I'm willing to overlook the fact that she was also a District Director (a position that definitely does not set policy) for former Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. of Tennessee.

I guess it depends on what the definition of a pretty progressive record and populist caucus IS. Her former employer didn't score too well on the political courage test.

Representative Betty Sutton refused to tell citizens where he/she stands on any of the issues addressed in the 2010 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests from Vote Smart, national media, and prominent political leaders.

    Per the course, the usual suspects defend the indefensible and bash, ban and smear those who don't share their point of view. But this one had me ROTLMAO;
    Maybe . . . (4.00 / 1)
The uncertainty of the economy is a factor.

I have "no dog in this fight" at all but did live in the DC area for 16 years. Housing costs are high and taxes are high. One can do much better financially by staying in Alabama.

Ms. Reynolds probably already is living in the DC area and was available. She has experience with Congressional matters. Ms. Sewell being in a minority situation in more ways than one, she probably saw the need for someone with Washington experience.

    But THIS is the most telling comment of all, emphasis mine;
    LOOKING TOWARD THE FUTURE!!! (4.00 / 1)
THERE IS ALWAYS A REASON FOR CHOICES THAT ARE MADE. I'M SURE MRS. REYNOLDS WAS CHOSEN FOR MANY GREAT REASONS. IF INDIVIDUALS WOULD SIT BACK SOME TIME AND LOOK AT THE WAY THINGS ARE HERE IN ALABAMA, IT SHOULD BE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR THAT MRS. SEWELL DECIDED TO BRING IN SOMEONE THAT WILL FOR SURE BRING FRESH IDEALS AND NOT DO THINGS IN THE PAST TENSE. ONE MUST UNDERSTAND JUST BECAUSE YOU MAY BE FROM THIS DISTRICT AND ETC. IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE GOOD FOR THE WELL BEING OF THE DISTRICT. WE ALL SHOULD WANT TO BRIGHTEN OUR HORIZON TO BETTER OURSELVES. THIS MEANS ACCEPT CHALLENGES LIKE MRS. REYNOLDS HAS BY ACCEPTING THE OPPORTUNITY MRS. SEWELL HAS PRESENTED HER. MRS. REYNOLDS HAS ACHIEVED ON EVERY LEVEL NO MATTER WHERE SHE HAS BEEN. THE STATE DON'T NEED A PERSON IN THIS POSITION THAT JUST KNOW A AREA, WE NEED A PERSON LIKE MRS. REYNOLDS THAT KNOWS AREAS. MRS. SEWELL SHOULD BE PRAISED FOR MOVING AWAY FROM WHAT HAS BEEN.

Uh, it's Miss Sewell not Mrs. Sewell and she's not moving away from what has been, she's moving back to what WAS. And NO mooncat, we certainly aren't wishing Artur Davis had held on to his seat. The residents of the 7th district have been there and done that. It's not about me, it's about the people of the 7th district, remember?

"I just want to say I know who I am and whose I am. And if you send me to Congress, I will take those same values of faith, personal responsibility, hard work to Washington and roll up my sleeves and work on behalf of you each and every day. It's about remembering who elected you. It's about remembering why you're there: to represent the people....

If you honor me with your vote, I will serve you with honor. ... You won't be embarrassed by anything I say or do."

Again, talk is cheap. I hope you live up to the words and legacy of my Sorority Sister and not the legacy of your predecessor who voted against health care reform, the hate crimes bill, resigned from the house judiciary committee to run for Governor and was an apologist for some racist actions. Shirley Chisholm was a true, proud LIBERAL who spoke truth to power, unbossed and unafraid.

As a freshman, Chisholm was assigned to the House Agricultural Committee. Given her urban district, she felt the placement was irrelevant to her constituents[2] and shocked many by asking for reassignment. She was then placed on the Veterans' Affairs Committee.[2] Soon after, she voted for Hale Boggs as House Majority Leader over John Conyers. As a reward for her support, Boggs assigned her to the much-prized Education and Labor Committee,[7] which was her preferred committee.[2] She was the third highest-ranking member of this committee when she retired from Congress.
All those Chisholm hired for her office were women, half of them black. Chisholm said that during her New York legislative career, she had faced much more discrimination because she was a woman than because she was black.

This appointment is not living up to your promise and I HOPE and PRAY it's not a sign of things to come...not for my sake, but for the residents of the 7th district.

Real Democrats get it. Now run tell THAT Homegirl!

Daily Kos blogger brooklynbadboy makes a compelling case for why real democrats can't wait any longer. It's time to rebuild the democratic party.
Times are tough. The working people of this country are not just losing their jobs, they are losing their homes and in some cases, their entire way of life. Their dignity. Their respect. Men can't earn a decent living so that they can raise their heads with pride around their children.

Women can't get a break from their increasing burdens. Children are piling up their disappointments. Our great men of commerce are weak and corrupt. Our defenders are weathered by war, deployed far from home. The political institutions that are tasked with governing are broken. The men who lead them are inadequate to the challenges before them. It is very difficult to look at the state of our union and find it strong. We the people have got to do something about it and it has to start now.
    Progressives just don't get it.
Yes, this was a Republican wave year, but Alabama Democrats have more problems than just the painful economy and low approval ratings for Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi. We had no coherent message and no recent record of supporting policies that help people.
WTF do you mean we had no coherent message and no recent record of supporting policies that help people? WTF is WE? Health care reform helps the 46 million Americans without access to health care. But DINO Artur Davis couldn't support that. Anti Hate Crimes legislation help protect our gay and lesbian sisters and brothers from harm. But DINO Artur Davis couldn't support that either. So WE democrats had a record, it was just drowned out by the DINO's/progressives/blue dogs/moderates/independents/conservatives/dixiecrats that have infiltrated the democratic party and is spreading like a cancer.

Alabama democrats, strike that, REAL Alabama Democrats aren't in denial about why Alabama Democrats took such a whipping on Nov. 2. It was the stoopid racism which was enabled and appeased by the progressive/conservadem wing of the Democratic party. Democrats took such a whipping because Alabama Democratic Party elite decided to fight with a right leaning blog and suppress real democratic voices.
'Comfort the disturbed, disturb the comfortable' (0.00 / 0)
I believe Redeye is the heart and soul of this little corner of the universe. I have little to add to the Redeye viewpoint and comments because they are consistent with my world view.

No one says it better than Redeye. The links back it up!

Attacking the messenger is so creepily Republican.

    Redeye comforts me!

    Does Redeye disturb you?
Democrats took such a whipping because Y-O-U and Y-O-U-R-S gave them the switch.

Don't blame REAL Democrats. WE did our part. We aren't the ones who are "out of touch".
We held our nose and did what the republicans did and voted a straight ticket. If the conservadems had done joined with us, instead of being against us, democrats wouldn't have taken a bloodbath. But noooo, conservadems just had to whup State Senator Hank Sanders for his mad as hell robo call to DEMOCRATIC voters and put his "abrasive wife" in her place. That will learn them about dealing the race cared in every hand. Yessum. *Snark*
    Why we can't wait to kick the infiltrators out of the big tent (emphasis mine);
We do not have time to wait for politicians to learn how to do the job effectively. They may never learn. We do not have time to wait 10, 20 or 30 more years while our people and planet fall into the abyss. We cannot confine ourselves to years and years of seemingly pointless phone calls and emails. Our people are dying. Our people, the Democrats, the people who didn't show up for this election, are suffering. We have to link up, walk into that meeting and start getting our own people in positions of authority. We need power in order to fight back. We've got to seize control of this party and change the rules so that it cannot be taken away ever again. It can be done, it should be done, and it will be done if we have the stomach for it.
Yep WE (real democrats) got a mugging, an alley butt-whipping, but most of it was due to fact the majority of white democrats would rather lose than stand with the democratic wing of the democratic party, but also I admit part of it was the fault of the Alabama Democratic Party leadership (or lack there of), they had a plan, pander to the right at the expense of the base. That really sent a message to real democrats how out of touch they were with real democrats. You know the democrats who are not worried about me and mine, but who are concerned about the least and the left out. Those who don't have access to a quality public education. Those who don't have access to quality health care. Those who can't afford to buy groceries. Those who aren't informed. Those who are marginalized and minimized. Those that understand that by the grace of God goes I.

Real Democrats aka The Professional Left get it loud and clear. We can't wait any longer. It's time to rebuild the democratic party, but first we have to kick the Posers out of the big tent before they burn it down.
White privilege and power have been setting the Democratic agenda and electoral strategy for far too long in this state. They drank their own Kool-Aid in the run-up to this election. It poisoned their thinking as it has poisoned our party. They chose to rely on manipulation, race baiting, short-sighted election year gimmicks and smearing real liberals and democrats in favor the rightwing/dixiecrats/moderates/conservatives and enabling and appeasing the right wing instead of using their time in power to promote responsible public policies. Although many of those voted down last night had little to do with this fiasco, the people at the top of the Democratic party got the result they richly deserved. Unfortunately it's the little people at the bottom who will suffer the consequences. You know, the people without jobs, homes, access to quality affordable health care. Poor single mothers and their children. Elderly citizens who have to decide between buying food or buying medicine. You know, the least of these.

You helped light the match that essentially burned our party to the ground yesterday. How do we rebuild the Alabama Democratic Party now you ask?

Clean house from top to bottom. Get rid of the posers and the infiltrators. You're either with the democratic party or you're against the democratic party, that includes black/brown folks, women, our LBGT sisters and brothers, labor and public educators. You're either for all parts of the democratic agenda or you're for none of it. We elect leaders who don't think black voters are stoopid and who try and take advantage of them. We elect leaders who are not afraid to stand up to the right wing bully's. We elect leaders who don't take a blog, I mean butter knife to a gun fight. We elect leaders who will bring us together not divide us. That's how we get OUR party back on track Missy.
Now, run and tell THAT Homegirl!
