Free Your Mind Friday

Listen up! All that is standing between Speaker John Boehner and the impeachment of Barack Obama for his birth certificate or some other nonsense is Y-O-U! This is the party who impeached President Clinton for trying conceal a private sexual affair, sent our troops to war based on dead wrong intelligence, and raided the surplus to give the rich a tax break remember? Are we really going to let them have the keys to car so they can run the country into the ditch like drunk frat boys again?

The gop is good at winning elections with people they can fool all the time. Thanks to the MSM we have, the gop has convinced a lot of people they shouldn't have access to health care because President Obama is a Muslim who was born in Kenya. America doesn't want any one non white to occupy the White House, because all Muslims are bad and we need to bring back Slavery.

Has anyone but me noticed the politicians who talk about repealing ObamaCare have ObamaCare? And would someone please remind the re publican's that tax cuts for the rich and spending BILLIONS on all war all the time is what got us into this mess?

This week in Alabama Politics
Just like Secretary Tom Vilseck fell for the false "reverse racism" charge against Shirley Sherrod, John Archibald, The Birmingham News, leaning Left in Alabama, James Lassiter of the JeffCo New South Coalition, and three members of the SCLC painted Nikki Still as the poster girl of white victim hood, predicting the certain demise of the Democratic party as a result.

John Archibald said; Go ahead, Joe Reed. Just kick Martin Luther King's legacy right in the teeth. Go on. Remind us why Alabama's Democratic Party has less to fear from Republicans than from, say, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.

The Birmingham News editorial board said; When Jefferson County Democrats went to the polls earlier this year, Nikki Still wasn't their first choice for one of the judge slots on the Circuit Court. But she was their second choice.
That made her the most logical replacement after the winner lost her law license and had to be removed from the ballot. But that assumes the Alabama Democratic Party has any interest in being logical. Clearly, that's not a high priority for party leaders who often seem determined to torpedo their own ship.

James Lassiter on behalf of the JeffCo NSC said; Setting a precedent for bypassing the democratic process when it is convenient for accommodating race, ethnicity or national origin is a dangerous practice, and will do more to harm the Democratic Party than anyone could possibly imagine. This move to appoint French, and ignore the 45% of voters who support Judge Still because she is white, not only tears into the fabric of our democracy, but also destroys a people's faith in the political process.

I'm just a white person, but I know some of the rhetoric I heard at that meeting on Thursday left me deeply disturbed. If a Republican had been saying those things we would have been so all over them for racism, favoritism and so forth. You can see some key portions of the meeting in the video below the fold, and make up your own mind about whether we've come full circle to the point where we aren't concerned with equal justice, but with making sure we're the ones on top.

See a pattern? Notice how quick they are to point at the perceived racism against Nikki Still but totally dismiss the possibility Kenya Lavender Marshall could be the victim of racism? It's not like there is a documented history of black folks being the victims of racism or anything. Yes, that was a snark.

I am eternally grateful to the Legal Schnauzer for his willingness to look inside the spin, his courageous writing and his defense of Kenya Lavender Marshall, the REAL VICTIM of racism.
A Legal Schnauzer investigation, however, indicates the New South Coalition and the SCLC are looking in the wrong place for racism. Our research on a case from the 1990s indicates it was the Alabama State Bar, not ADEC, that probably was acting with race-based motives.

What about THAT John Archibald, The Birmingham News Editorial Board and leaning Left in Alabama? There are two sides to every story, you chose to take Nikki Still's side and ignore Kenya Lavender Marshall's side. There are some who say you based this decision soley on race and used this as an opportunity to publicly bash Joe Reed because he has guts.

The Alabama Democratic Executive Committee probably sensed that a black female candidate, who had been heavily favored by voters, was treated unfairly. The committee decided, we suspect, that the fair and right thing to do was to replace her with a black female candidate--one who was equally qualified to the white candidate. That, in our view, is not racism; it's a logical reaction to racism.

Meanwhile under the radar, the Justice Department is investigating Riley's non payment of legislative legal bill.
Holmes filed the complaint after Gov. Bob Riley and the state Finance Department refused to pay a $73,000 legal bill for a law firm hired by the Legislature in the controversial Paragon Source no-bid computer contract. "I'm alleging they paid white lawyers and refused to pay these black lawyers," said Holmes.

So, who is really practicing racism here?

Have a peaceful weekend.
