Monday Morning Talking Points

Yippee Ki-Yay! Keith Olberman returns to television tonight and his first guest is Michael Moore and Daily Kos chief Markos Moulitsas. So glad to see the truth-tellers back on TeeVee. Psst, Keith, Anthony Weiner is looking for a new gig. Not sure where to find Keith? Click here.

Speaking of Anthony Weiner, if I were his constituent I would write his name on the ballot and give the republicans, the mainstream media, and the cowardly Dems my middle finger. Now they tell us Fake Identities Were Used on Twitter in Effort to Get Information on Weiner

At least three months before the revelation that former Representative Anthony D. Weiner was sending lewd messages and photos to women online, a small group of self-described conservatives was monitoring his exchanges with women on Twitter. Now there is evidence that one or more people created two false identities on Twitter in order to collect information to use against him.

There is nothing more dangerous than ignorance in action.
Frederick Douglass was an early civil rights figure and former slave. In the late 1800s, he wrote an autobiography where he speaks at length about his experience, his sufferings, and, what strikes me most as a teacher, his education. Slave-owners did not want their slaves to read, he said, because if they were able to read, then they would be able to articulate their plight.
In George Orwell’s 1984, Newspeak is a language being developed by the government that ultimately aims to make it impossible to think rebellious thought. How can one articulate rebellion if there is no word for it? If I were to use the word “sidereal” in a sentence, and you didn’t know what it meant and couldn’t find out what it meant, then comprehension does not occur and my attempt to convey meaning failed.
Case in point, the republicans put a black face on their racism but we are supposed to be to stoopid to notice.
The nation’s GOP elite gathered in New Orleans this weekend for the Republican Leadership Conference. In attendance were presidential candidates Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, and potential candidate Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
Prior to a speech by RNC Chair Reince Preibus, an Obama impersonator took the stage and told a series of racist jokes. A summary from Arron Blake:
• On Black History Month: “Michelle celebrates the full month. I celebrate half.”
• “My mother loved a black man,” but “she was not a Kardashian.”
• A picture was shown of Obama and the first lady when he took office. The impersonator then showed a picture of what the Obamas will look like when the president leaves office, and it was the characters of Fred Sanford and his sister-in-law, Ethel, from the show “Sanford and Son.”
The right to bear arms A must-read from Black Diaspora on the danger of ignorance in action.
Yes, there's "anger," but the anger is being misdirected, thanks, as you've stated, to the media provocateurs who have concentrated this anger and have painted bulls eyes on the backs of blacks, Latinos, and Muslims.

A race riot is more likely than civil unrest toward the government. The news media, led by Fox News, and an assortment of Republican and conservative blowhards, will instigate this racial disquiet.

I'm convinced that the Republican Party will do almost anything to effectuate absolute control of government, despite the level, and transform this nation into the philosophical, and ideological image it has always imagined--even if it kills us!

Rebel Flower breaks down the stoopid

The people that always get's hurt are the workers, making $30k, $40k per year, the support staff, the grunts. It's never the actual commissioner's, the deputy's, the commission president, etc...These clowns get elected time and time again because people vote against their own self interest, or by some Pavlovian name recognition thing. You say their name, and people just salivates and people shut their brain off and fill in the oval. No thinking required... Politicians play on this sense of religion, patriotism, fear and we get mass stupidity on a grand scale. It's always "cut spending", "no more taxes" that's the cure for all problems. Late term abortions, like for ages 50-60 and up or secession from the US are the cure for our problems in the South. This place will never progress past 1960's era and I think most people like it that way...
The reason "most people like it that way" is because the public airways are used to promote ignorance like this:
Be quiet citizens. Or the government will punish you with investigations…
Uh, NO. citizens are NOT being investigated for speaking out, the city of Huntsville is being investigated for housing discrimination which happened to be bought to their attention by politicians using this issue for their personal, political gain.

Stuck on stoopid.

How is that racist? It's a joke! It's no more racist than black comedians talking about whites! AGAIN another double standard. You can joke about whites if you are black but if you are white it's racist!!

FuckUp: "It's not racist because blacks'd do the same thing to whites so why can't we do it to them durrrrr"

If you can't figure out why it's racially insensitive, then you'll never figure it out, FuckUp.

"These clowns get elected time and time again because people vote against their own self interest, or by some Pavlovian name recognition thing. You say their name, and people just salivates and people shut their brain off and fill in the oval. No thinking required..."

Idea:

Instead of placing the names of the candidates on the ballot, a description of each candidate's platform and track record is placed on the ballot. The descriptions spell out what the candidates are all about, what they're running on and how they voted/governed in their previous offices. And after the polls are read, people find out the name and the face of the descriptors they voted for. Hell, we can even make this independent of any party -- if you like what you read about a candidate and that candidate turns out to be Republican? Oh well. That'll make Election Day that much more interesting.

The only problem is finding an independent and unbiased party to draw up the ballots and avoid the appearance of partisanship throughout the entire process. And the usual voting shenanigans (Diebold, hanging chads, "lost" and "found" ballots, etc).

Rebel Flower said...

So you expect people to read? Like that will happen. Especially when you have you have functional retards like fed up roaming the streets who has no common sense. The birmingham news gives a synopsis of all the candidates positions, its not rocket science. People just tune out because they dont think decisions affect them. People like fedup, should have to take i.q. tests to breathe.

WOW as expected not one logical reason why it's ok for black comedians or blacks in general to joke about whites but when blacks are joked on it's racist!!!???????

You my friends are the ones with no common sense!

I bet you believe in welfare programs lasting for a lifetime. Felons being let out of prison. America to be over run by ILLEGAL ALIENS. (Do the paperwork and become a citizen then I'm ok with it)I bet you believe in taking guns from Americans etc etc The liberals are the real problem in America.

I'll say it again I am no Republican, Democrat or Tea Party supporter I am independent depending on the issues!

What do you guys think of H.Cain and Pastor Manning? Manning tells the TRUTH so most blacks dislike him! WHY? He speaks TRUTH!!!!!

Keith Olbermann will K.O. them again with his hard-hitting take on the day's news. My VCR is at the ready as I type.

Are Republicans so thin-skinned that they can't tolerate their precious candidates for president being lampooned?

One blogger used an entire blog entry to say that the liberal media was up to its old tricks: focusing incorrectly on the racially-tinged remarks of the comic, when it was the comic's attacks on Republican candidates that earned him the hook.

Only today, I read this:

"After asking Davis why Brown wasn't pulled off stage sooner if the comments were "inappropriate," Davis followed up, writing:

"Had I been in the room I would have pulled him sooner. We have zero tolerance for racially insensitive jokes. As soon as I realized what was going on I rushed backstage and had him pulled."

It seems that Republicans, too, wanted to make this about race, rather than admit to their thin-skinness.

When it comes to their party, Republicans have "zero tolerance" for remarks, comedic or not, about party members.

That seems strange given some of the inadvertent comic one-liners that come from the party, and usually delivered with a straight face.

KO did not disappoint! He came out swinging! Read all about it!

Now we know why MSNBC gave him the boot! Why do the attack dogs always get the boot? Never mind. We know.

Walter E. Williams is a professor of economics at George Mason University.

A good read written by a black man. This is what I have been saying now a black college professor backs it up!!

FED UP said...

I suggest you read it.He talks about Obama too. Here is the last sentence and it is so TRUE!!!

Black silence in the face of black racism has to be one of the biggest betrayals of the civil rights struggle that included black and white Americans.

I suggest you and Walter Williams bite me.

Redeye said...

It absolutely gets under my skin when racist whites hide behind sell out blacks.

And yes Walter Williams is a sell out because he appeases and enables the racist racism.

Just because Walter Williams said what you wanted to hear doesn't make it true.

It enables the lies And the lying liars who tell them.

Now run and tell that radio boy.

Rebel Flower said...

@fed up, Walter Williams and Pastor Manning can express their opinion no matter how off base and intellectually dishonest it may be. They are as crazy as Glen Beck, no one in the intellectual community takes them seriously.

I cant answer for black comedians no more than you can answer for the kkk. What I believe in the terms of social programs is irrelevant. What I do know is that you are either are either the best troll or the most ignorant person I have encountered. You shouldnt be allowed to carry a firearm because I believe you to be mentally ill. Guns dont kill people, stupid with guns kill people. I at this point am getting better with immigration, it seems like they are have an edge on the curve on people like you. In your neck of the woods, you are probably considered well read making it through a sears catalogue. You take stupid to new lows each time you post.

FED UP said...

WOW again you guys show your ignorance! W.Williams speaks the truth you and other racist blacks do not want or refuse to hear!!!! What is a sell out black? Is it A BLACK who is educated who sees and speaks the truth instead of living in the past and living the lie that today's blacks are held down by WHITEY? The real racist write what you do on your blog. Are you mad that you are not a college professor? Are you mad that other blacks know what Walter knows?

Black silence in the face of black racism has to be one of the biggest betrayals of the civil rights struggle that included black and white Americans.

What an idiot!!!!

Description: Idiot101

"Look, it's an all volunteer force," Obama complained. "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn't compute.." "I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country, "Obama continued "I wasn't asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I'd have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation's deficit.. I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans."

I did not write the words a BLACK EDUCATED COLLEGE PROFESSOR DID!!

Again, you and the black educated college professor can bite me.

Does it upset you that some EDUCATED blacks know what is really going on in this day and age? We all see it but some have on blinders....like you!

I guess it depends on what your unedcated definition of EDUCATED blacks IS.

FED UP said...

I mean it is said by someone who is educated and someone who actually looks at the facts before writing an article or voicing his opinion.

FED UP said...

There you go taking everything the wrong way like most liberal blacks do. I'll try to explain a bit better. I mean that an educated college professor speaks the truth and you refuse to see or hear the truth because you believe your own bs. There are many blacks who know what he says is true!!

Redeye said...

Who says there are many blacks who know what he says is true? Let me guess, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Matt Drudge, Ann Coulter, Faux and Friends, Dale Jackson, Neil Boortz, and Glenn Beck.
