The Liberal Media is an Oxymoron

Sorry I haven't been around for the past couple of days, but I had to take a mental health break after being Attacked by the Attack Machine. Don't get me wrong, I give as good as I get, but being called everything but a child of God wears you down after a long sustained attack, so I took a break from blogging, TeeVee and XM radio and did "normal" things like gardening and organizing my garage.

I would like to thank those of you who offered encouragement and support via email, phone calls or in person. Yes, I know all white people don't think or act like The Attack Machine. And for those of you who wondered why I didn't ban The Attack Machine, it's because I firmly believe in the the First Amendment and freedom of speech and I deplore censorship in any form. This is America, the land of the FREE and the home of the BRAVE and we all have the RIGHT to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Moving on, I would like to welcome The Simple Minded Savior Providing clarity to the simple minded sheep in the Bible Belt...to the blog o sphere and to my blog roll. And they say young people aren't involved and informed?
These tea party buffoons have sponsored a bill that will effectively end ALL abortion in Alabama. Even though this has been decided on a federal level by Roe v. Wade years ago, these fools are wasting time re litigating the past instead of trying to fix our broken education system which leads to high crime and the everlasting shame and embarrassment of people stuck here who don't drink grain alcohol and can read. What happened to jobs?

I would also like to welcome Measured out with coffee spoons readers to RedEyes Front page.

I see the Wieners in the *ahem* news media are still having multiple orgasms over Wiener Gate. The media is so busy trying to prove it's not liberal they bend over for the likes of anti liberals like Breitbart, Drudge, Sean, Rush, O'Rielly and the other Lords of Loud.
Weinergate, as it has been dubbed by pundits across the political spectrum, must be the lamest (non-)sex scandal to come down the pike in years, yet it seems to be getting as much play as Watergate.
That such trivia as an adult sending relatively benign photos and “racy messages” to other consenting adults should be of interest to anyone besides the Representative's wife – much less the making of a week-long “news” story – is obviously a sad reflection of our shallow, sex-and-celebrity-obsessed culture.
But it's also a testament to what you might call the "Breitbart effect" – the ability of conservative activists to push a news story to the forefront of the national discussion, and hold it there for an extended run. Breitbart, like the Drudge Report and a host of other dedicated right-wing provocateurs, has learned the value of gaming the refs – of hounding the mainstream media with angry and unsubstantiated accusations of “liberal bias” for so long the latter tend to overcompensate and give prominence to whatever story the activists are interested in amplifying.

Never mind Rush and others are the biggest hypocrites ever.
In 2006, Limbaugh was detained by United States Customs officers after returning from the Dominican Republic with Viagra in his possession. The prescription wasn't written in Limbaugh's name, so the authorities suspected unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Moreover, a simple google search of the terms "adult travel" (NSFW) reveals that the Dominican Republic has earned an outsized reputation as one of the world's hottest destinations for sex tourists.

What Wiener did online is NOT our business.

Weiner, according to who tells it, did something incredibly stupid, or he grievously sinned. But what he did (the original sin before the lying-about-it part) isn’t any of our business. And, jackass though he is, he apparently never intended to hurt anyone. What Breitbart did, and Meaghan Broussard did, is our business and I think there’s a lot that could and should be said about it.

Why is it OK that Andrew Breitbart acquired and published these pictures? Or that somebody gave (sold?) them to him? And that Breitbart is now holding an allegedly X-rated picture over Weiner’s head, threatening to publish it in case he, Breitbart, is “attacked?” Is blackmail is okay if you do it in public?

So much energy is being expended on trying to get our technologically-fixated and ethically-challenged youth population not to spread around dirty pictures of each other, and to refrain from bullying, cyber- or otherwise.

I ask you: What does it do to our credibility with these young people that Andrew “The Vindicated” Breitbart and his associates have publicly, ostentatiously and self-servingly cyber-bullied Anthony Weiner, intentionally damaging him and causing tremendous collateral damage to his wife and family, apparently with impunity?

I'm just asking.

I want to know when did the mainstream media turned into the National Enquirer?
There is no escaping the salacious Anthony Weiner Internet scandal. Since the mainstream corporate media - for the most part - merged politics, news, entertainment, celebrity personalities and sensationalism, it's been almost impossible to have an informed national discussion on public policy.

One Weiner "confessional" news conference is worth more in advertising revenue than a year of covering our wars that have spanned a decade.

A sizeable percentage of Americans are out of work and without a safety net, Medicare and Social Security are under siege, wars are being fought that receive only sporadic coverage and the disparity in income in America is at its widest point in memory. Yet, these and other pressing issues play a distant second fiddle to a Congressman engaged in sexual titillation over the web and on the phone - however creepy and inappropriate that may be.

The Weiner affair is just the latest example of what Chris Hedges calls "spectacle" coverage superseding the dissemination of news that informs and enlightens.

Remember when the media used to protect us from being lied to?

I sure do miss the good old days when the media told us what we need to know instead of what they want us to know.

If the media were liberal this would be the TOP STORY.

But Noooooo. That would be too much like right. Pun intended.

If I were paranoid....

Some reports suggest Weiner's online sex talks may have included minor children. You must be a pervert if you think that isn't our business.

How do I know you are not a minor child?
