Dear Friends,
A lot of you have expressed frustration and disappointment with President Obama and the non actions of his administration, especially in regard to former Governor Don Siegelman, to the extent some of you are withdrawing your financial support from the democratic party, threatening not to vote for the President in November.
If you feel betrayed by the Obama administration, how do you think African Americans feel? We had such HOPE for CHANGE we could BELIEVE in, only to find out it was more of the same, if not worse for the majority of African Americans.
From the beginning us Professional Lefty's who dared criticize President Obama's policies and non action in regard to Don Siegelman were told to STFU.
The first African American President has been the President of everybody but black people IMHO.
In hind sight, the suppression of any criticism of President Obama's policies played into the hands of republicans.
One thing I can say about the GOP, they respect/fear their base. They know they can count on their base to go to the polls and vote against their interest, unlike democrats who take their base for granted.
The difference between them and us is they know how to organize their base into a political force.
I'm saying all of this to plead with you not to withdraw your support from the democratic party and the President. Some of you may ask how much worse could it be if republicans have control of the White House and the Congress (again), and to be honest, to a lot of us, it really doesn't matter, because we are the fortunate few who will be fine regardless of which party is in control, but to millions of black/brown/poor Americans, it will be the difference between life and death. Literally.
We need to take our party back from the infiltrators, re-elect President Obama, give him a democratic house and senate and HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. Para quoting Bill Maher, we need to force democratic leaders to stop pussyfooting around.
Who wins if white, liberal, democrats abandon the democratic party and Mitt Romney and the Tea Party are elected in November ?
Not us real liberals and real democrats that's for sure.
Would you rather have a white enemy or a black friend in the White House?
Think about it.
Your friend,
RedEye
