Warning. I'm one pi$$ed off Liberal today so this rant will probably pi$$ some (not be be confused with all) of y'all off.
I am pi$$ed off because the mainstream media must think we the people suffer from a severe case of amnesia and are stuck on stupid. I know for a FACT the church where former National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice's father was the pastor is 2.6 miles from the 16th Street Baptist Church, not two blocks. I also know for a fact, her family was not involved in the Civil Rights Movement. It really pi$$es me off that she is being paraded out as if she is not a republican, while the like Angela Davis and others who were actually there, involved, suffered, and sacrificed, are ignored. Civil Rights Justice on the Cheap indeed.
Here we go again, 24 year old Johnathan Ferrell, another young male killed because of prejudiced and over zealousness.Birmingham’s black-majority city government knew it had to sell the yearlong commemoration of 1963 as a big economic boon and named a co-chairwoman highly palatable to the business establishment, the native daughter Condoleezza Rice.
Our men cannot run to the police for help, because most police aren’t capable of aiding them. Our men may not run from the police in fear, for a Black man with his back turned is no less dangerous. Our men can’t hold arms akimbo or search for their IDs or cell phones or freedom papers to prove that they are, in fact, worthy of NOT BEING KILLED FOR EXISTING.Sororities investigating segregation allegations at University of Alabama. Oh, OK. What's wrong with this picture? Isn't that like the Fox investigating the Hen House? I mean, really?
In case you missed the report in UA’s student newspaper, The Crimson White, reporters Abbey Crain and Matt Ford (both of whom I’d hire today if I ran a newspaper) tracked down multiple sorority members who confirmed that the granddaughter of UA trustee and former Alabama Supreme Court justice John England Jr. was being denied a pledge to white sororities based solely on the color of her skin.Ain't gonna let nobody turn us round, we're going to keep on a walking, keep on a talking, walking up to Freedom land.
Those sorority members, from three different sororities, knew England’s granddaughter was being denied based on skin color because there were no other reasons to keep her out.
She has a sparkling grade point average. She was the salutatorian of her graduating class. The England family is one of the most successful and respected in the state, and certainly so on the UA campus. She also had all the support you could want from the white members of those white sororities.
So, how could she not get in?
Alumni members and advisers, that’s how.
At three different white sororities, either alumnae members or advisers inserted themselves into the selection process, according to current members quoted by the Crimson White, and blocked either one or two qualified black candidates.
RedEye Rant Over and Out. For Now.
