Why is the media obsessed with the First Lady's Donkey?

Harsh words: Grisham told his students that Mrs Obama is responsible for the lighter 600-calorie school lunches, even though she weighs '185-190lbs' and looks 'overweight'
So the national media is all in a tizzy because Rogersville, Alabama football coach/teacher Bob Grisham said on tape what they say behind closed doors about Michelle Obama and homosexuals. In other words, they aren't mad at him for WHAT he said, they are mad because it was caught on tape, proof we are who they think we are here in Sweet Home Alabama.
The latest public rant against Michelle Obama’s effort to promote low-calorie school lunches was recently caught on tape in Alabama — the usual protest against the federal government meddling in local business. And then it quickly found its way around to the first lady’s posterior.
“Fat butt Michelle Obama,” said Bob Grisham, a high school football coach who was surreptitiously recorded by one of his students. “Look at her. She looks like she weighs 185 or 190. She’s overweight.”
God forbid the First Lady promotes healthy eating habits so we can live longer.  But I digress

If this incident hadn't been caught on tape, it would be just another example of it's OK if you are republican to bash the President, the First Lady, or the  LBGT' community.   For the record, I don't agree with WHAT Bob Grisham said, but I defend his RIGHT to express his opinion.  He was suspended without pay for 10 days, that is "punishment" enough.  He shouldn't be fired also.  We do have this little thingy called Freedom of Speech.  Well, some of us do, but again, I digress.

With all the problems in the world, our country, and especially the problems here in Sweet Home Alabama why is the media obsessed with the First Lady's Donkey??

I mean, really?

Democrats highlight America for Americans

Listen.  That giant popping sound you hear are the heads of republicans and Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads exploding after the electrifying and inspiring opening night of the Democratic National Convention.  So much for the lack of enthusiasm for President Obama meme.

After the peanut throwing, name calling, mean, vindictive, spectacle that was the Republican National Convention, I am so thankful the world got the see real democracy.  Real patriotism.  Real Americans.

It was fitting the ghost of Ted Kennedy rose to haunt Mitt Romney from the grave.

Democratic Governor Duval  Patrick said it's time for democratics to grow a spine and start standing up to the right wing attack machine who are trying to bully the President out of office.

Democratic Governor Martin O'Malley said Yes we can blame the GOP for the unemployment numbers they are now crying crocodile tears over.

Sweet Home Alabama born and bred Lilly Ledbetter made the equal pay for equal work real.

San Antonio,Texas Mayor Julian Castro highlighted the RNC war on the truth. Note the Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads and the are focusing on his 3 year old daughter's hair flipping.

Democratic New Jersey Cory Booker bought the house down warning delegates democracy is a spectator sport.

Tonight former President Bill Clinton will remind us The Republicans Built the National Debt they now claim to be so concerned about.

But the star of the show was First Lady Michelle Obama who told the world success is not about how much money you make,  it's about the difference you make in peoples lives.

All I'm going to say is, anyone that votes for the Romney/Ryan Ticket, you are who you vote for, and you get what you vote for.  You won't be hurting President Obama, minorities, women, labor, LBGT, and democrats.  You will be hurting yourselves.

Black CNN camerawoman from Alabama "not surprised by" peanut pelting at the RNC

Patrica Carroll, the black CNN camerawoman who was the victim of a peanut attack and called an animal is from Sweet Home Alabama.  Maybe her rich southern heritage is why she is not surprised the incident happened in the first place.

I must say I was surprised by the blatant race baiting and racism at the RNC, and even more surprised the media didn't call it out.  What do you want to bet if black delegates to the DNC had verbally and physcially attacked a white CNN camerawoman it would have been all over the TeeVee, radio, blogs, and in print as proof the democratic party is the party of savages?

This kind of behavior is often spurred by a lack of diversity in the white male dominated media, who for some reason, believe they are the arbiter of when something someone did or said is racist or not.  We are supposed to ignore the fact Mitt Romney has ZERO, ZILCH, NADA percent of the African American vote, and that it would be easier to count the number of people of color attending the convention than empty seats in the convention hall.

The mainstream media fosters a "let's not talk about, or confront the racism and maybe it will go away mentality, unfortunately some of my fellow Americans feel the same way.

Ru$h Roundup

The fallout behind Ru$h Limbaugh's nasty, mean spirited,  personal attack against Sandra Fluke continues, despite his half a$$, post advertiser bailout apology.
"My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices."
Isn't it funny how the right wing, Lords of Loud, always resort to the I was just kidding, I am an entertainer line when they resort to personal attacks, name calling and insults to attack the messenger because they can't attack the message?  Pun intended.

Speaking of attacking the messenger, local radio boy and Ru$h Wanna Be, gets the award for the headline of the week:  Kathy Peterson tried to punish WVNN for nailing her.  Be sure and check out the sidebar for a list of WVNN's  advertisers and sponsors. Ru$h to the exits. Pun intended.

Why Ru$h thought he could get away with calling a young, white woman a slut and a prostitute is beyond me.  Now if he had called Shirley Sherrod, Sonia Sotomayor and President Obama racist, criticized Michelle Obama's weight,  or, mocked Malia Obama  that would have been all right.  Snark intended.

"One of the things we can't do is, we can't let them distract from what we're all about, and what we're trying to accomplish. We're trying to keep the focus on comprehensive, universal health care reform, and they're going all over the place. They are desperate, uh, they don't have leadership, uh, they really don't know what to do, and so, I think we're going to continue to see a lot of crazy things happening, like all of the, uh, outrage that has been demonstrated at these town hall meetings, like the kind of statement that Congresswoman Jenkins made, and let them define themselves, let them reveal who they are. The American public needs to see that."~Representative Maxine Waters (D.CA)

RedEye's Week in Review

H/T jobsanger.  Republicans proved they want Obama to fail this week.  What they actually mean is they want to put President Obama in his place, thereby putting  future uppity African Americans  in their place so they won't dare inspire to be the leader of the Free World.  President Obama is the only President in modern history who has to fight the gop, the media and even his own damn party.

Republican Congressman and Presidential Candidate Ron Paul's dirty little secret about his pandering to racist, rednecks for personal political gain was exposed this week.  That's what you get for being the front runner Dr. Paul.  Ask Herman Cain, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich and others.  Who knew there were a  lot of racist, rednecks in Iowa?
The Noah Diaries at DownWithTryanny has the most comprehensive review of 2011 on the web, a must read from top to bottom.
Bigger Butt  Congress Critter Jim Sensenbrenner (r. WI) apologized for commenting on First Lady Michelle Obama's large posterior.  I'm not mad at Sensenbrenner for exercising his 1st amendment right to criticize the FLOTUS.  Although they weren't Congress Critters, some said Barbara Bush looked like George Washington and Laura Bush looked like the Joker on the TV movie Batman.  I'm just saying...
The next time you see Mike Huckabee (r. Arkansas) on you TeeVee talking about repealing ObamaCare because it was passed in the middle of the night, blah, blah, blab, blab, think about THIS.
What's that you say?  American's newsrooms are becoming whiter?  I wonder why?  Snark

President Obama should fire everybody except Michelle

The Presidents' staff/cabinet are miserable failures. They need to be replaced with people who are not afraid to allow him to govern because he is an African American man.

He is the President of the United States of America. President Obama can only appropriately address the issue of jobs, education social problem from the standpoint of policy. I am dismayed those advising him advised him to go the route of compromise, which we the people see as capitulation.

I never believed Obama was going to be the the black people's President and only the the black people's President, because I believed him when he said there were no red states or blue states but the United States of America. But, his advisers were so afraid that if he showed any sympathy or empathy to the plight of blacks it would look like he was giving blacks "special treatment".

I believe some whites were actually afraid President Obama was going to exact some kind of revenge for slavery and Jim Crow. So, in their zeal to shape the first African American President in their image, they turned him into a token with no power. Someone they could point to and say America is post racial. As if the emasculation of black men in America needed more assistance. But I digress.

If President Obama doesn't do something to rescue his historic election future African Americans don't have a chance of being elected President of the United States of America because they will use his Presidency as an example.

One of the first things President Obama did was allow the media to make him distance himself from old guard black leaders and distance himself from vocal black folks. Yes, the old guard black leaders are out dated in a certain way, but they made it possible for Obama to be were he is today. He could have benefited from their experience, advice and counsel.

Candidate Obama was race neutral, aka race neutered. What good is being elected the first African American President if you have to pretend you are not an African American? Alothough he wanted to be seen as race neutral he continously made it race specific when he lectured black people desperately in pursuit of white approval. Instead of telling black folks they should act more like white folks he should be talking about what institutional racism and the system are doing to black families and communities across this nation and enacting polices to solve the problem.

And please get the First Lady Michelle Obama out of the garden and into the West Wing. It's time for her advisers/staff to go for the same reasons. She is a woman of style and substance.

It's not to late to change course Mr. President. It's "Yes we can". Remember?

What if Wednesday

Oh Slap! What if Michelle Obama had a left hook like Wendi Murdoch?

Yesterday, viewers were shocked to not only see an attempt to pie Rupert Murdoch in the face -- but also his wife, Wendi Murdoch, valiantly and violently defend him.

What if Robert Johnson and BET were the ones accused of hacking instead of Rupert Murdoch and Fox News?

Nearly every potential Republican presidential candidate either has or had a contract as a Fox News Contributor: Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee. Ailes' conservative loyalty is evident and so is his tolerance for suspect news practices, with African-Americans often the intended victims.

What if the TeaPublicans loved their country more than they hated President Obama? What if the real republicans took their party back?

I mean for the love of God...these Republicans are that afraid of the Tea Party? Is Boehner that much of an impotent prick? Get control of your idiots! A bunch of people dressed in costumes who don't understand how to govern, that's who you are going to let dictate how to run the government. It's amazing, truly amazing.

What if the media informed instead of misinformed?

What if we had shared sacrifice instead of sacrificing the poor, disabled and the elderly?

Our savage economic inequality in this country is coming to a head. We talk about "spending cuts," as if what we're not really talking about is "making the poor pay more for stuff." We talk as if the services that are cut will be picked up by the aching states and cities. And we talk about nonsense like "shared sacrifice," as if that's the rational position in any of this. When the wealthy actually sacrifice something, we can talk about sharing.

What if this were America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, where all people were created equal and had equal rights?

I'm just saying.
