EYE tried to some of Y'all Congress Critter Terri Sewell was Artur Davis is Designer Pumps

Terri Sewell's non-designer shoe
Left in Alabama: Terrie Sewell It's a historic election because it's about you,not about me.

But did y'all listen?  Nope.  As a matter fact, some of y'all accused me of inventing a straw man, making sh*t up, and peddling hypocrisy (I'm not going to call any names but you know who you are), and banned me fromyour Blogs and List Serves for life, but EYE digress.

What EYE predicted has come to pass, 7th Congressional District Congress Critter Terri Sewell (DINO Hoover), has the dubious distinction of being ranked the worst black member of Congress.
Black Agenda Report is once again publishing the annual CBC Monitor Report Card. The former all-time worst Black Congressman, David Scott of Georgia, has passed the torch to a new generation of corporate-bought politicians, represented by Alabama’s Terri Sewell – although Scott remains a close second.
 Are you happy now?
As a Democrat running in a D+18 district, Terri Sewell is without question the Alabama Democrat most likely to be elected to Congress tomorrow. If that happens Sewell will become Alabama's first African-American Congresswoman and the first woman elected to Congress from this state in a regular election. But, as the Birmingham News recently said when they endorsed her, that isn't the best reason to vote for her. The best reason to vote for Terri Sewell on Tuesday is the same as it was last spring ...she's simply the best candidate. From the early days of her campaign Sewell has maintained, "I'm the best candidate on the issues." On the eve of the general election, she still is!
What did the residents of the 7th district to do deserve this
My worst fear has come to past. Republicans, enabled by the media (again) and the neo liberals (again), bought and paid for the only African American seat in congress (again). I'm sure they are patting themselves on the back and high fiving their "victory" this morning, but this is wrong on so many levels. For one thing it proves it's not about the people, it's about the money, the power and the influence. It's proof the residents of the 7th district didn't get to decide who represents them in congress (again).
Again, this is what  happens when the white wing of the Alabama Democratic Party decides who should represent the black wing of the Alabama Democratic Party.  Say what you want to about
the Alabama Democratic Conference, not to be confused with the Alabama Democratic Party, and Dr. Joe Reed, but they didn't endorse Terri Sewell or her predecessor.  The 7th district and had a perfectly capable and effective Congress Critter until the white wing replaced him with Artur Davis.  The residents of the 7th district had the chance to replace Davis with an effective, progressive/liberal representative, but again the white wing said no

If the Alabama democratic party were courageous, and I'm not saying they are, they would run a real democrat against Ms. Nine West Pumps in November. The residents of the 7th district deserve better. They are the most loyal voting block the state and national democratic party has, it's time to stop taking their loyalty for granted, and stop choosing who should represent them.

EYE hate being right.

Not.

Democrats highlight America for Americans

Listen.  That giant popping sound you hear are the heads of republicans and Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads exploding after the electrifying and inspiring opening night of the Democratic National Convention.  So much for the lack of enthusiasm for President Obama meme.

After the peanut throwing, name calling, mean, vindictive, spectacle that was the Republican National Convention, I am so thankful the world got the see real democracy.  Real patriotism.  Real Americans.

It was fitting the ghost of Ted Kennedy rose to haunt Mitt Romney from the grave.

Democratic Governor Duval  Patrick said it's time for democratics to grow a spine and start standing up to the right wing attack machine who are trying to bully the President out of office.

Democratic Governor Martin O'Malley said Yes we can blame the GOP for the unemployment numbers they are now crying crocodile tears over.

Sweet Home Alabama born and bred Lilly Ledbetter made the equal pay for equal work real.

San Antonio,Texas Mayor Julian Castro highlighted the RNC war on the truth. Note the Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads and the are focusing on his 3 year old daughter's hair flipping.

Democratic New Jersey Cory Booker bought the house down warning delegates democracy is a spectator sport.

Tonight former President Bill Clinton will remind us The Republicans Built the National Debt they now claim to be so concerned about.

But the star of the show was First Lady Michelle Obama who told the world success is not about how much money you make,  it's about the difference you make in peoples lives.

All I'm going to say is, anyone that votes for the Romney/Ryan Ticket, you are who you vote for, and you get what you vote for.  You won't be hurting President Obama, minorities, women, labor, LBGT, and democrats.  You will be hurting yourselves.

Update~ Affirmative Action is for white women only.

I hate to say it but, republican Senator Mitch McConnell is right (pun intended), Supreme Court nominee Elana Kagen doesn't have judicial experience therefore she is not qualified to sit on the Supreme Court.

According to some democrats, that's not a problem. The question I have is why is it not a problem? Did President Obama hand the republicans a valid reason to oppose her nomination? I say, YES he most certainly did.

It's supposed to be the most qualified, remember? If you match Solicitor General Elana Kagens' resume side by side with 7th circuit judge Diane Woods, Woods is the most qualified. What would/could the goppers criticism of Judge Woods nomination be? That she is too black? They certainly can't say she isn't qualified.

Is it open season on black women? Are black women destined to be undervalued and marginalized? Are black women destined to be stereotyped as angry,  promiscuous, baby making, welfare queens, nanny's, cooks and hand maids?
Black women also get oddly, back-handedly criticized for being too functional — for being the majority of black college graduates and growing old alone. In reality, black women with college degrees are more likely to have married by age 40 than those with high school degrees (70 to 60 percent).
Black women also get criticized for being uppity and told to "stay in her place", which I believe is why my front page privileges were revoked,  and,  I was eventually banned from my former sandbox. Prior to my banning I was repeatedly warned to "tone down my rhetoric" and to stop "injecting race into the conversation" and finally to "get your own blog". All of a sudden the "content of my comments and posts" were just intolerable, "end of story". As the lone African American, and the lone female with front page privileges, I felt I was being a voice for the voiceless, bringing diversity and a point of view that is often suppressed to the discussion. In the end I was treated like a subordinate and not an equal.  But I digress.

I find it troubling President Obama cites the trials and tribulations of the late civil rights activist Dr. Dorothy I. Height when she was refused admittance to Barnard College because they already had their quota of African American women, then over looks highly qualified Judge Diane Woods in favor of the less qualified Solicitor General Elana Kagen.

Look at the late singer, actress and activist, Lena Horne, who was blacklisted and unable to get work in Hollywood because of her far left political activism. Lena Horne reportedly descended from the John C. Calhoun family. We don't even have to ask how that happened do we?
because the slaves were the legal property of their owners, it was not unusual for enslaved black women to be raped by their owners, members of their owner's families, or their owner's friends. Children who resulted from such rapes were slaves as well because they took the status of their mothers
The first piece of real legislation Barack Obama signed as the 44th President of the United States helps ensure that workers discriminated on the basis of gender have a fair chance to sue their employers.
The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act is named after a woman who was paid less than her male co-workers at an Alabama tire factory. Ledbetter did not set out to be an activist; she did not even involve herself in politics much. But after the Supreme Court ruled against her, she decided it was time to start.
Salon.com raises some serious questions about Elana Kagens hiring practices as Dean of the Harvard Law School
The first woman Dean of Harvard Law School had presided over an unprecedented expansion of the faculty -- growing it by almost a half. She had hired 32 tenured and tenure-track academic faculty members (non-clinical, non-practice). But when we sat down to review the actual record, we were frankly shocked. Not only were there shockingly few people of color, there were very few women. Where were the people of color? Where were the women? Of these 32 tenured and tenure-track academic hires, only one was a minority. Of these 32, only seven were women. All this in the 21st Century.
President Obama says Elana Kagen is a "trail blazing leader"
"She's a trailblazing leader," Obama said. "The first woman to serve as dean of Harvard Law School and one of its most successful and beloved deans in its history. And she is a superb solicitor general, our nation's chief lawyer, representing the American people's interests before the Supreme Court. The first woman in that position as well."
President Obama stood up for Elana Kagen and Lilly Ledbetter Lilly Ledbetter. He should also stand up for Judge Diane Woods and African American women everywhere.

Ain't we a woman? We voted for you too. Don't we have the right to have our voices heard? I thought since democrats won two elections things were going CHANGE? I thought we'd had ENOUGH? I thought we weren't the red states or the blue states, but the United States of America, with liberty and justice for all, not some.

Random Roundup/Rant

Your campaign must be in trouble when you have to recycle endorsements and stage photo ops. The Artur Davis for Governor campaign must think the "traditional" democratic base (women, labor, minorities, teachers, working class) are stoopid. I mean, really.

Do Davis campaign handlers believe that trotting around with Lilly Ledbetter is going to make traditional democratic voters forget he voted against the health care reform bill and voted for the Stupak Amendment?

Does the Davis campaign believe traditional democratic voters are going to believe he's finally showing up to work by "co-sponsoring" a Johnny Come Lately, ineffective bill to raise oil clean up liability?

Does the Davis campaign expect traditional democratic voters to be distracted and bamboozled by his slick new TeeVee Ads? Are working women supposed to believe Artur Davis wants them to have a "fair shake" just because he stands next to Lilly Ledbetter?

Memo to the Davis campaign from this proud traditional democratic voter...I know you are using Lilly Ledbetter to try and make Artur look like he cares about women. Artur Davis and Lilly Ledbetter have access to quality, affordable health care reform, and so do I, but unlike Davis and his supporters (who also have access to health care, I care about the working women and other Alabamians who don't have access to quality, affordable health care reform. Get a clue. Strike that, buy a clue. You sir,are no Congressman Alan Grayson and traditional democratic voters aren't stoopid. You can't dazzle me with brilliance or baffle me with bullsh#t.

Something doe not compute in Neo Liberal Land all right. What part of voting against health care reform is a deal breaker for most progressive/liberal/democrats doesn't compute? If Artur Davis voted for the stimulus why didn't he vote for the health care reform bill?

What part of the only censorship I condone is condoning censorship doesn't compute? When you hide comments because trusted people find them offensive that's censorship. When you ban people from your blog because they disagree with your point of view that's censorship.

What a difference a year makes, this year it's Let the Rebel Ghost Rest , last year it was Today is Confederate Memorial Day. I'm all for letting the Rebel Ghost Rest but that's not going to happen as long as we commemorate Confederate Memorial Day, fly the the Confederate Flag on the grounds of the state capitol and have the "Heart of Dixie" on our license plates. I'm just saying....

Listen up Dems...Tuesday's elections demonstrated that the Republicans are succeeding on both counts and the Democrats are failing.
The Republicans are fueled by their unity in opposition, which keeps their base united and happy. If we can break down that unity on the financial and immigration reforms, and on the confirmation of the SCOTUS nominee, we will splinter and demoralize the Republican base, which will become disgusted with a good portion of their own party.

So, in this case, the best defense is a good offense, but the offense has to be concerned with breaking GOP unity, which means that steamrolling best outcomes isn't the best way to go politically.

Some say the word Teabagger is like using the n word???? I can only shake my head...
" The term "tea-bagger" is like uttering the "n" word, some say. Though he aspires to promote civility, evidence has surfaced that President Obama has added "tea-bagger" to his public lexicon, though it's considered a cheap and tawdry insult by "tea party" activists. Watchdogs at Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) barked when they saw the proof, tucked in a sneak peak of Newsweek columnist Jonathan Alter's new book, "The Promise: President Obama, Year One," to be released May 18. Indeed, it appears the president joined certain partisan critics and the liberal media, and took the tea-bag plunge.

"This remark is the equivalent of using the 'n' word. It shows contempt for middle America, expressed knowingly, contemptuously, on purpose, and with a smirk. It is indefensible to use this word.

We speak English in Alabama? Who knew?

Redeye Rant over and out....for now...
