So how is that peaceful transfer of power thingy working out for you?

Former Vice President Joe Biden presiding over the Electoral College Certification
It's been a little over 4 months since that fateful day when the reigns of power were peacefully handed over to tRump and Company. To say things have gone to hell in a handbasket is an understatement.  From firing the director of the FBI after he refused to take the loyalty pledge to GOP attempts to repeal and replace ObamaCare with TrumpNoCare,  the miseducation secretary doing everything she can to undermine public education, cabinet members under investigation including the AG who is threatening to deny federal funds to Sanctuary Cities, not to mention the attack on women, the environment, the Muslim Ban and voter suppression.

There are calls for impeaching tRump but that would not free us from the dark specter of collusion, cronyism,  corruption, and betrayal that swept in when the Electoral College selected tRump and Pence.

So now the rattlesnakes are beginning to turn on each other.  But it's too late.  It.  Is.  Over.

Remember?

"We never thought Trump would be this much of a petulant brat." #morningjoe Really?

All EYE can do is shake my head and say #WeTriedToTellYa at the massive hand-wringing, crocodile tears and buyers remorse of Trump's white male dominated media enablers.  In the words of former Vice President Joe Biden " It is over."
In a matter of weeks, President Trump has taken dozens of real-life steps that, if they are not reversed, will rip families apart, foul rivers and pollute the air, intensify the calamitous effects of climate change and profoundly weaken the system of American public education for all.
His attempt to de-insure millions of people who had finally received healthcare coverage and, along the way, enact a massive transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich has been put on hold for the moment. But he is proceeding with his efforts to defang the government’s regulatory agencies and bloat the Pentagon’s budget even as he supposedly retreats from the global stage.
These are immensely dangerous developments which threaten to weaken this country’s moral standing in the world, imperil the planet and reverse years of slow but steady gains by marginalized or impoverished Americans. But, chilling as they are, these radically wrongheaded policy choices are not, in fact, the most frightening aspect of the Trump presidency
"
"It's too late to turn back now
What is most worrisome about Trump is Trump himself. He is a man so unpredictable, so reckless, so petulant, so full of blind self-regard, so untethered to reality that it is impossible to know where his presidency will lead or how much damage he will do to our nation. His obsession with his own fame, wealth and success, his determination to vanquish enemies real and imagined, his craving for adulation — these traits were, of course, at the very heart of his scorched-earth outsider campaign; indeed, some of them helped get him elected. But in a real presidency in which he wields unimaginable power, they are nothing short of disastrous.........Whether it is the easily disprovable boasts about the size of his inauguration crowd or his unsubstantiated assertion that Barack Obama bugged Trump Tower, the new president regularly muddies the waters of fact and fiction. It’s difficult to know whether he actually can’t distinguish the real from the unreal — or whether he intentionally conflates the two to befuddle voters, deflect criticism and undermine the very idea of objective truth. Whatever the explanation, he is encouraging Americans to reject facts, to disrespect science, documents, nonpartisanship and the mainstream media — and instead to simply take positions on the basis of ideology and preconceived notions. This is a recipe for a divided country in which differences grow deeper and rational compromise becomes impossible."
Unintended consequences or karma
The travel guide Frommer’s has set the decline in foreign tourism at 6.8 percent for this year while ForwardKeys points out a 6.5 percent decrease in international travel to the United States in the week after Trump attempted his first Muslim ban back in January.
During that same time period, they found that US bound flights from Western Europe went down 14 percent while these flights from the Middle East crashed 38 percent.
To make matters even worse, the Global Business Travel Association has concluded that “45 percent of European business travel professionals say they are less likely to schedule meetings or events in the US.”
These alarming numbers show that Trump is making people reconsider their trips to the US with his harsh “America First” rhetoric. His obsession with immigrants being criminals, his need for a border wall, the Muslim Bans and his anti-refugee stance don’t help soften the hard edges.
This is what happens when the candidate with the most votes loses

In the words of the late great Maya Angelo "When people show you who they are.... believe them."

#MorningJoesGottaGo doubles down on White Privilege/Supremacy

Yesterdays Thugs are today's Hoards.  Poor Joe Scarborough, as a southern white male he just can't refrain from using the public airways to expose the "defense mechanism of white supremacy" that is his mind.  Yesterday, he and his all white and one female panel, smeared a dead teen. Today Joe called black elected officials, four Saint Louis Rams football players, and others, a bunch of lying liars, under the guise he's concerned about the small black business owners in Ferguson.
"If I've offended anybody, offended anybody, by saying what I've said, trust me, 95% of America thinks just like me. Just because there are cowards that won't say that on TV — that's your problem, it's not mine," he said.

Joe must not know  police protected the White side of town while allowing businesses on the Black side to be robbed and burned. At least 12 buildings were on fire. Most protesters, though, were peaceful. At two in the morning the police held a press conference. They blamed protesters for tearing apart “the fabric of the community”.  Businesses will rebuild with insurance and state and federal grants.  Can't bring back a life, but then again black life has no value compared to other things, right Joey?

Joe obviously only read the grand jury testimony that agrees with his version of the facts.  Joe wants us to believe everyone is lying about Michael Brown having his hands up except the person who killed him. If there had been an actual trial instead of a secret trail masquerading as a grand jury  and cross examination of the witnesses and the evidence we would know that one way or the other.

The Morning Joe Cast and Crew  are the perfect example of why ignorance is bliss.
I think this, more than anything, is the source of our trouble when it comes to racial division in this country. The inability of white people to hear black reality—to not even know that there is one and that it differs from our own—makes it nearly impossible to move forward. But how can we expect black folks to trust law enforcement or to view it in the same heroic and selfless terms that so many of us apparently do? The law has been a weapon used against black bodies, not a shield intended to defend them, and for a very long time.
We Shall Overcome.......

One Day

I'm tired of white people telling Black people what to focus on. We can think for ourselves. shut the hell up.

What Joe Scarborough said all the damn way!

Excerpts:

"Zimmerman wasn't standing his ground, Zimmerman was chasing this young man and harassing him."

"This isn't about standing your ground, this guy (Zimmerman) hunted him (Trayvon Martin) down"

"They better move in fast on this case because a lot of people have acted in a shameful way."

"They (Police) say let him (Trayvon) go and he (Zimmerman) still chases after him, and you can hear him in the background yelling 'help" and they still don't arrest him?"

"Here a young man gets killed and the police don't arrest this murderer for anything?"

"This law is literally getting in the way of action being taken." Mika

"It's not the (Stand your ground) law, it's the (Sanford) Police Department down there it's the State Attorney's office down there".

"How is someone standing their ground against someone who is screaming for help?"~Mika

"They (Sanford Police Department) have known since February 26, that this young 17 year old man, Trayvon  Martin, armed with nothing but ice tea skittles and a cell phone, minding his own business, walking through a neighborhood, was chased, hunted down, screaming for help, then shot to death, they have known this...and they have not arrested the man who they know very clearly wasn't standing his ground who killed him".

"If the facts are as they appear now, whoever is running the Police Department, whoever is running the State Attorney's office down there are not worthy of the public trust, have betrayed the public trust.  They are unworthy of representing the people of Florida..

"It sounds like they (Sanford Police Department) were trying to cover some tracks"

"They drug test the dead 17 year old who had ice tea and skittles, and they don't drug test the person who has just killed another person"?

"Who are these people"?

"The State of Florida needs to act aggressively".

"They better not get away with it."

"It does have to do with race.  If anybody watching this show either live or on the Internet, does not believe if an African American  shot a 17 year old  white boy walking through a neighborhood carrying ice tea and skittles, if they do not be believe there would have been an arraignment the next morning for the African American shooter, and the white boys family would be notified immediately, that an officer would not have driven to the white boys parents home,  sat on their couch and consoled them because they just lost their 17 year old son...if you believe this case, and the handling of this case by the people in Florida has nothing to do with race, you are living in a fantasy world."

"The Justice Department and the Attorney General Pam Bodi in Florida need to do more than investigate the death, because it seem to be fairly obvious what happened, they need to investigate the (Sanford) Police department and the State Attorney's Office and see why the parents weren't notified immediately, and why this guy hasn't been arrested.

"You don't have to have an open and shut case, arrest the guy, throw him in jail, they got probable cause, they got a 9 mm, they got him chasing him down the street, they got the gun shot on the 911 tape, they have  reason to lock this guy up this morning, they had it the night that it happened.

What Reverend Al Sharpton said all the damn way!
"I must say this has been the most inspiring morning  I've had with Joe Scarborough"

You can see/hear the entire segment  in context here,  then compare and contrast it with Matt Laur's  UNfair and UNbalanced interview of the grieving parents of Trayvon Martin, and the family attorney, on The Today Show.

Morning Jokers and The Nightmare on Main Street

h/t jobsanger

So, I woke up this morning to the Morning Joke Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads' mock outrage over the length of former democratic IL Governor Ron Blagovitch's sentence, and gleefully reporting news former republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is leading the GOP clown car in Iowa, cutting into President Obama's support in Ohio and several swing states. Mind you all of this information is according to the polling pollsters and the pollsters who poll them. We have to remember they don't poll many democrats/liberals/progressives, and there is a huge disconnect between the polling pollsters and 99% of the American people.

IF the polling pollsters and Morning Jokers are right (pun intended) HERE is a snippet preview of the Nightmare coming to a Main Street near you and yours courtesy of Everything Possible Happens

Primary bedrock principles of the Republican Party:

If Obama is for it, we're against it, even if it was our idea to begin with.
If Obama is against it, we're for it, no matter how hard or for how long we fought against it before.

Specific policy positions of the Republican Party:

Raising taxes on the middle class isn't raising taxes. St. Grover said so.
Close our embassy in Iran!
Teachers are only in it for the money.
The media has a well known liberal bias.
Reality has a well known liberal bias.
Ignorance is bliss. We're the party of bliss on tap.
Democracy means making sure only the "right" kind of people vote.
9-9-9! (English translation: No, no, no!)
The 1% rule! All hail the 1%!
Poor people should work harder so rich people can get richer.
Make damn sure everyone over 21 votes on November 12!
Brown people aren't people. Corporations are people.
Amend "show your papers" laws to prevent more accidental snaring of rich white people.

There's more to skeer the bejezzus out you
We don’t even a have a Republican nominee yet, but they’re floating names for cabinet appointments.

Newt Gingrich received a standing ovation from the audience at a Republican Jewish Coalition meeting on Wednesday for promising to appoint John Bolton to be secretary of state if elected president.

The former House Speaker pledged to appoint Bolton, the controversial former ambassador to the United Nations for President George W. Bush, to the top diplomatic post if he were elected.

Mitt Romney says he’d name cabinet officials before the election so they could face off with current cabinet officials.

“The answer is yes,” Romney said in response to a question on whether he would consider nominating someone such as former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani to be his attorney general so that individual could challenge Attorney General Eric Holder.

Yep. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Forget about the obvious violation of Constitutional rights that the recently-approved $662 billion Defense Authorization bill inflicts by allowing for indefinite military detention of United States citizens without formal charges or trial by a jury of peers, the justification for doing so just became more absurd. In the clip below, Rand Paul (R-KY) asks John McCain (R-AZ), "if an American citizen is declared an enemy combatant, could they be sent to Guantanamo Bay and detained indefinitely?"

To which McCain replied affirmative; "If they pose a threat to the security of the United States of America." McCain claimed this new anti-American authority was needed because of the "facts" that "27% of detainees who were released get back into the fight."

I HOPE everybody wakes up in time to save our children from this nightmare.

I wish President Obama were a real Dick, really I do.

Senior Morning Joke Joker Mark Halprin was *ahem* suspended for saying President Obama acted like a "Dick" because he dared call out the TeaPublicans for destroying the world yesterday. This is the same Mark Halprin who said he didn't know if President Obama was a citizen or not. Oh well, at least he didn't call President Obama an Aborigine. Call me crazy but it sounds like another racist dog whistle to me.

Anyhoo, I wish President Obama were a Dick, then maybe we wouldn't be in this mess. I don't mean a Bush Dick, a Cheney Dick, or a Bohner Dick (pun intended). I mean a Lyndon Baines Johnson Dick, a Franklin D. Roosevelt Dick, an Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Dick or an Anthony Wiener Dick (no pun). You know, the kind of Dick that kicked butt and took names for the little guys and gals.

Please be a Dick Mr. President.
Please Dick the republicans.
Dick them hard.
They hate us for our freedoms.
