Blast from the Past Re-Post: How do you like "Scam Newton" now?
In light of the fact former Auburn University Quarter Back, and Heisman Trophy winner, Cam Newton is headed to the Super Bowl , EYE am re-posting this blast from as a jab at the Haters. Superbowl 50 will be a match up between two #SEC quarterbacks, UT vs Auburn. EYE am rooting for Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. ~RedEye
For all the tasteless, immature, tacky, degenerate, haters, who chose to impugn the character of Auburn Quarterback Cam Newton, a talented young man, who only wants to play football, and whose only crime is he plays for Auburn...... this blog is for Y-O-U!
For the Bama Fans who thought it would be a good idea to profit from the alleged "pay to play" controversy by marketing Scam Newton gear ...this blog is for Y-O-U.
EYE have to ask, why would they defame and malign Cam Newton? No evidence. No trial. Just hearsay and innuendo. I wonder how they are feeling now? But hey, this is Alabama, where football is King, and Justice is blind, crippled and crazy. You don't need a picture to see the collective disappointment on the faces of Alabama fans tonight.
As Cam Newton was leaving the field today he looked up to the heavens and said "Thank You God". He's not a scam. He's a child of God, and somebodies son. His father is not an "over zealous" pimp, he's a man of God, and an involved/concerned parent. Is Cam Newton perfect? No. He's admitted to a youthful indiscretions, but that's in the past, it shouldn't negatively affect his future.
Any Auburn fans who watched the Iron Bowl today and lost hope after the first half must have forgotten last year, when Auburn jumped out in the lead only to find themselves short at the end of the game.
Auburn managed to come from behind and win in hostile territory today, which gives me HOPE for the future of the Alabama democratic party. We (democrats) need a head coach with a winning strategy. We need a skilled quarterback to pass the ball. We need wide receivers who will catch the ball and run with it. We need to start judging potential leaders based on the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

RedEye's "Back to the future" Rundown
![]() |
The Freedom Riders Then and Now |
As a survivor of the domestic terrorism of the Civil Rights Movement, EYE think America is going back to the future. EYE don't know if the election of the first president who is black
bought out the worst in some (not to be confused with all) white people, but if this is the result EYE fear Barack Hussein Obama will be the first and last president who is black of these United States of America.
Today, a large part of the population remains willfully racist, [TEA PARTY] and by extension, a great number of people have also become unconsciously so, buying implicitly into stereotypes about Black Americans as dependent and lazy [MITT ROMNEY]; and thus determined to stop social programs [CRUZ] and limit the federal government’s influence [PAUL] — even if it is not to their own benefit. In a sense, much of the middle class population has been HOODWINKED into voting for the interests of the top one percent GOP because of their own unconscious prejudices.FBI warning of of white supremacist infiltrating law enforcement nearly forgotten. EYE wonder why? Snark
In near prophetic fashion, after the FBI’s warning, white supremacy extremism in the U.S. increased, exponentially. From 2008 to 2014, the number of white supremacist groups, reportedly, grew from 149 to nearly a thousand, with no apparent abatement in their infiltration of law enforcement. From the files of SWB (Shopping While Black) in Sweet Home Alabama.
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Claudia Jordan recently had a run-in with a mall security guard in Opelika, Ala., and is claiming she was racially profiled. On Friday, Jordan was in Opelika to see Ginuwine perform, but both Jordan and Ginuwine were thrown out of the Auburn Mall because she wouldn’t remove her sunglasses, she says.Meanwhile, there is some Strange Fruit in Georgia.
I don't know about the rest of you, but when I hear stories like the recent one about Roosevelt Champion, I get a little nervous.Adventures in double standards #Baltimore edition, Because black folks.....
"A black man who'd recently been questioned in connection with the death of a white woman was found dead hanging from a tree Monday morning in rural Greensboro, Georgia, police said. Local and state investigators said there was nothing to immediately suggest foul play.
Riots led by largely white participants over largely innocuous things (your favorite sports team lost, your favorite sports team won, your favorite event just ended, you're drunk, others are drunk so let's tear sh*t up) are never treated with the racial disdain that the highly uncommon riots that occur in black communities receive. So much for HOPE for CHANGE we can believe in.
There's no condemnation of white Americans as a whole, nor are there any calls for the Caucasian community to restrain itself and seek non-violent means of expressing itself. They're not denigrated as "thugs," accused of being "out of control" or used as fodder for unreconstructed fantasies of putting them back in their rightful place. Even the language becomes different - these are "disturbances," not "riots." They're not "thugs," but "young party goers" and "revelers" who just happen to be "over-exuberant."

Some people don't think we have the right
To say it's my country
Before they give in they would rather fuss and fight
Than say it's my country
I've paid 300 years or more
Of slave driving sweat and welts on my back
This is my country
Too many have died in protecting my pride
For me to go second class
We've survived a hard blow, and I want you to know
That you must face us at last
And I know you will give consideration
Shall we perish unjust or live equal as a nation
This is my country
Some people think we don't have the right
To say it's my country
Before they give in, they'd rather fuss and fight
Than say it's my country

Father: Auburn football player walks after calling children N-word, son arrested
![]() |
Graphic via Auburn Football |
The following post from the ReddingNewsReview.com is troubling because it illustrates the plight of African American maless who find themselves catching a case because they dare demand respect for black girls/women, who some feel don't deserve respect.
It also has shades of the Penn State Football scandal, where it appears players can do no wrong because they are star members of the football team considering I had to learn of this incident through social media.
I report. You decide.
~RedEye
From the ReddingNewsReview.com
The Atlanta father of two Auburn University students is using social media to get justice for his children who he said they were racially harassed and one was sent to jail by two members of the Auburn football team.
Henry M. Carter, of Atlanta, says his daughter Shanice Carter, 20, and his son Kenya Carter, 22, were called N-word and his daughter was called a "bitch" by two members of the Auburn University football team, while at a McDonalds in Auburn on early Saturday morning.
The elder Carter wrote on Facebook: "Reese Dismukes and another person named Patrick [Miller]approach them in an aggressive manner. Calling my Daughter a 'Bitch' and 'Nigger.' My son took offense to their aggression and they said they would crush him like they just crushed a CD that was placed on a table."
He said that the two football players were let go and his son, Kenya, was sent to jail for disorderly conduct.Dismukes is considered one of the best football players in the conference.
He says his son has been released on $300 bond.
"I called the police station when the incident occurred and voice my disapproval of the discriminatory action of the officer and my intention to file a complaint. I have instructed my daughter to press charges against the football players for making terroristic threats. This is a simple case of racism and I will not let it go by. My son has never been arrested
and they will not blemish his good name. DAMN WAR EAGLES!"

A Memorial Day Photo Blog with Links and Commentary
Say, have you seen my Democracy? You know the Democracy with Liberty and Justice for ALL? Not the Democracy that sent our sons and daughters to W-ar based on DEAD WRONG INTELLIGENCE, and not look back, but will look back at a democratic Presidential Candidate who wanted to end poverty. SMH
America is The Land of the Free because of the Brave. The first Memorial Day was celebrated on May 1, in 1865 by freed slaves, missionaries and teachers, in a ceremony honoring Union soldiers who died in a Confederate Prison Camp in Charleston, South Carolina.
None dare call it Treason. Yet they want us to sing God Bless America? No, No and,
NO.
God HELP America sing America again.
I, Too, Sing America By Langston Hughes
I, too, sing America.
I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.
Tomorrow,
I'll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody'll dare
Say to me,
"Eat in the kitchen,"
Then.
Besides,
They'll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed--
I, too, am America.

"Democracy demands an educated and informed electorate"
While the mainstream media wieners continue the wall to wall coverage of Weiners wiener there's lots of stuff going on we need to know about.
This is why the current media disaster and the (mostly W and the republican) destruction of the public schools is so horrendous.
Countering the Conspiracy to Disenfranchise Black Voters and make sure Obama is the first and last African American President of the United States of America.
We must laugh to keep from crying...if the American people elect one of these guys and gals to be the President of the United States of America we will be the laughing stock of the world.
". . . whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government; that, whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them right." ~Thomas Jefferson
This is why the current media disaster and the (mostly W and the republican) destruction of the public schools is so horrendous.
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." (as cited in Padover, 1939, p. 89)The above quotes were the cornerstones of Jefferson's interest in education and the franchise. He placed education as the foundation of democracy and a prerequisite to vote.
". . . whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government; that, whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them right." (as cited in Padover, 1939, p. 88)
Ignorance and sound self-government could not exist together: the one destroyed the other. A despotic government could restrain its citizens and deprive the people of their liberties only while they were ignorant. So here is some information you need to know, instead of information the media wants you to know. Or should I say not know?
Jefferson could never completely separate education from government. With the fullest faith in the ability of man to govern himself, Jefferson nonetheless realized the responsibility of self-government could be assumed successfully only by an enlightened people.
The habit of thinking of public education in essentially political terms, as an auxiliary of free government, naturally suggests a common father for both. In associating manhood suffrage with education, Jefferson was in the forefront. It was his belief in universal suffrage that made necessary the accompanying idea of universal education.
Countering the Conspiracy to Disenfranchise Black Voters and make sure Obama is the first and last African American President of the United States of America.
During the Jim Crow era, white supremacists did everything within their power to disenfranchise black people. They lynched us, shot us, beat us, fire hosed us and unleashed vicious dogs on us. The segregationists imposed absurd literacy tests and poll taxes to prevent us from voting.
Sadly, in this modern era, the Republican Party is continuing that racist legacy. In some respects, the Republican Party is today’s version of the White Citizens’ Council. Similar to the Council, the Republican Party is a predominately Southern, white male organization. It opposes issues that are important to minorities such as affirmative action, immigration rights, health care reform, workers’ rights, social programs, etc.
To make matters worst, as reported in the New York Times, the GOP is even attempting to disenfranchise African Americans, Latinos, the elderly and the poor.
We must laugh to keep from crying...if the American people elect one of these guys and gals to be the President of the United States of America we will be the laughing stock of the world.
I am watching the republiclown debate from New Hampshire and I sincerely mean this when I say that it is funnier than any sitcom that's on television. These guys (and gal) are funny.Herman Cain's anti Muslim bigotry should be disqualifying but it's not because he's a republican.
Michele Bachmann actually made some news: She is running for President.
Presidential candidate Herman Cain has reiterated his position that any Muslim serving in his administration would be forced to take a loyalty test with this statement: "That's not discrimination. It's called trying to protect the American people. This nation is under attack constantly by people who want to kill all of us, so I'm going to take extra precaution."Cummings: Issa Staff Released Document Under Seal In ATF Gunrunner Probe
That's chilling logic. The last time the United States government decided that an "extra precaution" made it okay to presume the disloyalty of citizens, we imprisoned more than 100,000 completely innocent Japanese Americans.
Even if it weren't bigoted and imprudent, however, Cain's logic should be disqualifying for its sheer idiocy. Think about it. His plan for deciding whether someone is a sleeper jihadist or worthy of being trusted in the White House is essentially to ask them, "Do you swear you're loyal to the United States?" This would happen in a "one-on-one conversation," where the former CEO would do what exactly? Apparently being in a room alone with a man is enough for Cain to tell his intentions, because no one has ever lied in the history of mankind, or been misjudged when telling the truth.
Staffers working for House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) improperly disclosed information about a criminal investigation being run by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) which could have compromised ongoing criminal proceedings, according to a letter House Oversight Ranking Member Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) sent to Issa on Monday.Rep. Elijah Cummings' Nephew, Christopher Cummings, Killed In Shooting At Old Dominion University
Justice Department officials met with committee staffers on May 5 and told them the committee had released a document filed under seal, Cummings wrote. A federal district court judge had issued an order prohibiting the public release of a particular document, according to Cummings' letter.
BALTIMORE — A Maryland congressman says his nephew was killed in a random shooting near Old Dominion University in Virginia. It pays to be a state University Football Coach in Alabama. Public school teachers, not so much.
Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings of Baltimore in a statement Sunday talked about the death of Christopher Cummings in his off-campus apartment. He says his nephew's roommate, Jake Carey, was critically wounded in the attack Friday. Both were students at the university in Norfolk.
The congressman urged the community to cooperate with police.
He says his family remains in shock over the "senseless tragedy."
Cummings says his nephew was an "amazing young man who was loved and admired by so many people who had the honor of knowing him." He had a 3.5 grade-point average and "ambitious plans for his future."
MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- Employees of state agencies and public schools, two-year colleges and universities would pay an extra 2.5 percent of their paychecks for retirement coverage, under a bill that won final legislative approval in the Senate today.
The bill will become law if Gov. Robert Bentley signs it. State Finance Director David Perry said he expects Bentley to sign the bill into law.
A public school teacher's salary averages about $48,000 a year. A teacher making that much eventually would pay an additional $1,200 a year for pension coverage under the bill. The Senate today voted 19-12 for the plan, House Bill 414. The House of Representatives last week voted 51-48 for it.
". . . whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government; that, whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them right." ~Thomas Jefferson

Cam Newton will be in the NFL rather than College~addendum
Slaves? H/T Field Negro
Note; Please attack the message and not the messenger. It's not about Boyce Watkins, it's about what Boyce Watkins said.
I would like to share the following email I received from a reader in response to my post about the Auburn Tigers big win, Cecil and Cam Newton, and the so called pay to play controversy. It's spot on, and it ties into Dr. Boyce Watkins theory that NCAA Athletics is Racial Segregation at it's finest.
Hey Redeye,
Thanks for your mention of the Auburn Tigers' big win. As a Auburn
grad, I know I don't have to tell you how proud I was of our "Family"
bringing home that crystal football, the SEC championship, our third
Heisman and our second Lombardi award, thanks to Big Nick Farley..
Like you, I was so happy to learn that Cecil Newton was able to be in
Arizona to celebrate his son's outstanding leadership and athletic
achievements. The whole mess about the "shopping" made me sick.
College athletes make big money for their University, for vendors, for
the BSC, the SEC and the NCAA, but outside of scholarships, these
athletes and their families are never compensated for earning all that
money for "the powers that be." There's something fundamentally wrong
with that IMHO. As far as the school "shopping" is concerned, it goes
on all the time, so why not acknowledge that the rule can never be
completely enforced and come up with a more realistic solution, such as
setting limits on the amounts of compensation an athlete and his family
can earn during a given season? Cam will be in the NFL draft rather
than completing his Senior year at Auburn, and I can't blame him for
making that decision. I would have done the same thing if I had been
in his shoes. He has been and will continue to be one of the greatest
representatives Auburn University has ever had......not to mention he's
so darn cute, he makes President Obama look homely! If his NFL career
ever goes sour, he's a shoo-in for a career in entertainment.
As far as the National Championship is concerned, I did the same thing
"Bo" did at the conclusion of the game...cried with sheer joy and
pride. Attached are some personal photos. As you will see, even my cat
was "showing his colors" for the Big game. He simply couldn't be
outdone by his friend, our neighbor's little dog, who wore a Auburn
scarf for every game during our undefeated season, and Ming actually
enjoyed wearing his little jersey...probably because it was so darn
cold on game day. .War Cam Eagle!
The writer makes an excellent point, why not acknowledge that the rule can never be completely enforced and come up with a more realistic solution, such as
setting limits on the amounts of compensation an athlete and his family
can earn during a given season? I guess that would be too much like right (pun intended).
Per Dr. Boyce Watkins;
I'm just saying...
Keep those emails coming...knowledge is power...shared knowledge is powerful.
As the southerners who love Auburn football celebrate their championship, they may want to take a second to absorb a couple of sobering realities. First, the school got $21 million just for winning that one game. Auburn’s coach, Gene Chizik is due for a multi-million dollar bonus and millions will flow into the pockets of administrators, coaches, commentators, and corporate sponsors, almost none of whom are black.
At the same time, the star players for Auburn, including Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton, will simply get to throw up the “A” to their boys, and some will live off this short moment of glory for a lifetime. Like preventing slaves from learning how to read, the NCAA has created laws making it illegal for Cam, his family or the families of any of the other players to get any of those millions that coaches are gladly putting into their pockets. All the while, Auburn will be searching for the next batch of big, black bucks who can win them more championships. Like chickens being grown by KFC, black males are a commodity that Auburn University can’t live without.

Per Dr. Boyce Watkins;
If you are one of the thousands of black families sending your son or daughter to the NCAA to build their multi-billion dollar coffers, they would tell you that paying the athletes or their families is simply impossible. They would convince you that in spite of the fact that the athletes and their families are the most important part of their revenue-generating process, universities simply cannot afford to share their money. Even if you are homeless and your child can’t buy groceries, you must stand to the side as others earn millions from your child’s athletic labor
I'm just saying...
Keep those emails coming...knowledge is power...shared knowledge is powerful.

Redeye's Alabama Week in Review
All we did was win win win! The week begin with the Auburn University Tigers led by QB Cam Newton winning the 2010 National Championship game. The Alabama media paid all kinds of attention to Cam Newton Gate but we heard nary a peep about BCS National Championship Ticket Gate
Gooberner Riley and gop chair State Rep. Mike Hubbard(r.) said they were going to the game with tickets they purchased, but they would be traveling on a state plane because they have to depart for Montgomery soon after the game ends Monday night. The State has a plane? Who knew?
The snow storm spoiled Riley's party *snicker*, but Cam Newtons father Cecil Newton did watch his son play in the biggest game of his life.
The Alabama Dem Party comes together and endorses U.S. Attorney candidate? Uh, what Alabama Dem party came together, and when exactly did the Alabama Dem party come together? It should read outgoing miserable failure State Chair Joe Turnham and the parties presidential advisory committee (wtf is that?) comes together (pun intended) and endorses U.S. Attorney candidate. :)
No wonder the Alabama Democrats are in a pitiful shape.
The South, I mean Dems will rise again!!! YeeHaww! The Over the Mountain Dems have fired the first volley in the fight for the Alabama Democratic Party.
The Blue Dogs--Dixiecrats--Determined to continue wrecking the Democratic Party Brand
So who is going to win the Civil War within the Democratic Party? The Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party or the Progressive Wing of the Democratic Party? A party divided will not stand.
Speaking of the Progressive Wing of the Democratic Party, can you believe a progressive blog is actually asking what is acceptable dissent on a Progressive Blog and, taking a poll asking if Dale Jackson should be allowed to stay on LiA? Acceptable to who? Allowed by who? I wonder if they realize how elitist and condescending they sound?
I have to agree with Dale Jackson on this one, there is more than a whiff of hypocrisy on both sides. Dale Jackson was singing a different tune when I was complaining about the hypocrisy and unfairness. So was resident righty and *ahem* legal expert Old Prosecutor. Question for countrycat, if I'm not banned why is my user name and password invalid? Yep, Change is Afoot at Left in Alabama all right (pun intended). Remember when Left in Alabama was the media we wish we had instead of the media we have?
Left in Alabama has been infiltrated. You know the drill. Find an effective progressive group. Get offended by something that is said. Pick a fight. Have the group pick sides. And who wins in the end? Not us progressives that's for sure.
"Well, there's a certain mean spiritness that's out there, not only in Alabama but it's in America. And that makes this election extremely important." ~Alabama State Senator Hank Sanders
Dissent is the highest form of patriotism~Howard Zinn
Those "face value" tickets for legislators to the BCS National Championship game are becoming a hotter property by the day. As of this morning, Auburn fans - even those willing to spend $9K a pop - can no longer buy BCS National Championship Tickets for any price. Stubhub has suspended sales of the game because sellers weren't actually fulfilling their orders.
Now we're beginning to learn more about the situation. Auburn has admitted that as many as 15 "legislators and state officials" have been given the chance to purchase tickets at "face value." (It's not really face value in my book when the public never gets a chance to buy at that price.)
For some reason, Auburn isn't going to release the names of the guilty until next week.

It should read outgoing miserable failure State Chair Joe Turnham and the parties presidential advisory committee (wtf is that?) comes together (pun intended) and endorses U.S. Attorney candidate. :)
No wonder the Alabama Democrats are in a pitiful shape.
The Alabama Democratic Party's Presidential Advisory Committee has endorsed Beck, even though he comes from a law firm with ties to Republican strategist Karl Rove and Business Council of Alabama (BCA) President Bill Canary. A source tells Legal Schnauzer that Beck's firm, Capell and Howard, often serves as a home base for Rove when he visits Alabama.
The South, I mean Dems will rise again!!! YeeHaww! The Over the Mountain Dems have fired the first volley in the fight for the Alabama Democratic Party.
Judge Mark Kennedy, the only announced candidate for Chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party, will take part in a panel discussion in Birmingham next Tuesday, sponsored by the Over the Mountain Democrats.
The Blue Dogs--Dixiecrats--Determined to continue wrecking the Democratic Party Brand
The Democrats, Dixiecrats really, before Carter were a mostly a motley gaggle of conservatives and racists. Just before Carter, for example, was Lester Maddox, a segregationist restaurateur most famous for saying he would rather close his restaurant than serve Black people and later brandished a handgun to chase potential Black customers away. He also ran for president on the neo-Nazi American Independent Party, a forerunner of today's Tea Party.
So who is going to win the Civil War within the Democratic Party? The Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party or the Progressive Wing of the Democratic Party? A party divided will not stand.
The democratic party is not pure or perfect because it's been infiltrated by those who don't share democratic party principles or values. Candidates and elected officials feel free to take our money and our votes for granted and pander to those who might vote for them (or not) at the expense of those who have to vote for them because they have no where to go.

What if the great state of Alabama treated public eduction like they treat the Alabama and Auburn football programs?
What if public education was funded like the football programs at the University of Alabama and Auburn University?
What if there were a public/private partnership (boosters) who made sure all of Alabama's public schools were world class learning institutions second to none?
What if the state of Alabama recruited the best and brightest teachers with proven results from all over the country?
What if the state of Alabama paid public school teachers, administrators and support personnel like they paid some football coaches and their staff and rewarded them based on merit/performance?
What if public school teachers/administrators were like college football coaches and judged students on their ability and not the color of their skin or their parents circumstance? Nick Saben and Gene Chizik don't care how poor a player is, or about skin color, they care about ability. They also don't use arbitrary quotas (except for their coaching staff but I digress).
Seriously, what if the state of Alabama were number 1 in public education and in college football? What if every child had equal access to a quality education regardless of race, gender, zip code or political party?
What a wonderful state it would be if the state of Alabama embraced public education like they embrace college football.

War Cam Eagle!
Who would have thought Auburn University would be undefeated, headed to the National Championship and a Heisman Trophy winner by the name of Cam Newton. These were the first words out of Cam Newtons mouth, after he composed himself:
"I want to give all honor and glory to God who is first in my life." He then went on to thank his mother and his father, his coaches and his team mates.
Cam Newton won by a landslide! I've got to go and compose myself. More later.
How do you like Scam Newton now?

For all the tasteless, immature, tacky, degenerate haters who chose to impugn the character of Auburn Quarterback Cam Newton, a talented young man, who only wants to play football, and whose only crime is he plays for Auburn this blog is for Y-O-U!

Update: How do you like "Scam Newton" Now?

I told them my system was based on the "ant plan", that I'd gotten the idea while watching a colony of ants in Africa during the war. A whole bunch of ants working towards a common goal.~Coach Paul Bear BryantWar CAM Eagle!
Red State Pigskin and PoliTricks~correction
I stand corrected, from my inbox~ Redeye, it's the CRIMSON TIDE of the University of Alabama thank you very much and we are going to whup Auburns Donkey today.
And they say I refuse to correct factual errors when they are pointed out to me. *Snark*
Are you ready for some football? Today is the day of the biggest game of the year in Alabama when the Tigers of Auburn take on the CRIMSON TIDE of the University of Alabama. I will tell you right now I am a proud, unapologetic, win or lose, Auburn Fan so anything I say can and will be biased towards the Tigers. I am praying to the God I serve they roll the Tide off the field today with Cam Newton leading the way to another undefeated football season on The Plains. Amen.
Football comes in a close second to PoliTricks in Alabama, but political junkies like myself can tie the two together. Take the big game today for an example..let's pretend the Auburn Tigers are the Alabama Democratic Party...it's game day..who should start as Quarterback....a seasoned player with a proven track record of success, who is feared by the other team.....or a mild mannered, fresh face? Think about it.
War Damn Eagle!

Redeye's Week in Review
It's been a week since the gop infused, media enabled Tea Baggers took control of the U.S. House and the Alabama State House and what's their first order of business? Is it creating jobs and putting people back to work? Nope. It's a call for endless investigations, redistricting, *cough cough* ethics reform, tax cuts for the rich, declaring war on Grandma, and going back to the land of slavery and Jim Crow. And they are still mad because AL State Senator Hanks Sanders tried to sound the alarm. Only in AmeriBama.
Evidently the gop believes because they won it was a mandate for them to tell democrats who their national/state party leaders should be. On the national level, they tried to replace Nancy Pelosi, on the state level they are trying to decide who should replace Joe Turnham as ADP chair. Thank goodness, Nancy Pelosi will be the Minority Leader, and continue to be a major thorn in the rear of the Tan Man and the Tea Baggers, assisted by Rep. Steney Hoyer and Rep. Jim Clyburn. It. Is. On.
The high tech lynching of Auburn Quarterback Cam Newton kicked up a notch this week. You know the drill...someone(s) leaks allegations of wrong doing to the media...the media runs with the leak....Newton can't respond because anything he says can and will be used against him..Voila! Get the rope! Uh, what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty in a court of law not the court of public opinion? Some of us saw this coming.

Top House Democrats said late Friday night that they had settled on an arrangement that avoided a divisive fight for the No. 2 position in the party when it reverts to the minority in January.
In a statement, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she would nominate Representative James E. Clyburn of South Carolina to be the No. 3 Democrat when the party holds an internal party election on Wednesday.

Newton stood so tall, looked like so much of a man among boys, I'm pretty sure irate angry Arkansas State parents were demanding to see his birth certificate, the way they do in peewee football when a Goliath appears.
The sad, sorry state of public education in Huntsville City schools Part II
City city school board members Topper Birney, Jennie Robinson and David Blair need a lecture on the state's open meetings law. Honesty and public trust should be part of that lesson.Blair, Robinson, and Birney need more than a lecture on the state's open meeting law IMHO. Unlike the allegations against Cam Newton, it's a fact they violated the open meetings law (again). If all they need is a lecture, give Cam Newton a lecture too and let's be through with this. I'm just saying....
Only a week or so after the municipal elections, the three huddled privately at a local restaurant to discuss board business, including the search for a superintendent and who might be the next school board chairman.
