The Alabama Democratic Minority Party vs The Alabama Democratic Majority Party, there are two sides to every story.

Regular readers are aware of the ongoing Civil War within the Alabama Democratic Party between the white minority and the black majority but rarely will the white male-dominated  Alabama media present "both sides" in a "fair and balanced" manner

Below is a link to an episode of The Capitol Journal podcast featuring embattled Alabama Democratic Party Chair Nancy Worley discussing "renewing a lawsuit over an opposing party faction voting her out of the office and attempting to replace her with Rep. Chris England. "Worley says she views that election as illegitimate" and EYE agree.

Ignore the person on the left.

Who will win the #BattleAtGoatHill for control of the #DemocraticPartyPlantation in #SweetHomeAlabama?

Cue in Back to life back to reality.

#SweetHomeAlabama made national news for all the right (no pun intended) reasons yesterday with the election of Steven Reed as the first African American  Mayor of Montgomery, AL.  Yes, Black and White, young and old, rich and poor Alabamians were rejoicing together with HOPE for Change we thought we could believe in humming We Shall Overcome then BOOM!  The DNC enabled by the white male-dominated media dropped a bomb on the celebration.

Let's recap:

This whole Civil War started when the SDEC Minority Caucus foiled Senator Doug Jones's attempt to take the Alabama Democratic Party back to before.

The DNC is on the side of the Minority b-but it's not racial.

Stay tuned.

Life on the #DemocraticPartyPlantation in #SweetHomeAlabama Episode 3

Nancy Worley and Joe Reed listen at a meeting of the Alabama Democratic Conference in Hoover, Ala. on Friday October 16, 2015. The party chair and vice-chair of minority affairs said in separate interviews Thursday they won't attend a called meeting of the State Democratic Executive Committee on Saturday.
Alabama Public Enemy #1 and #2

According to some (not to be confused with all) in the white-male dominated Alabama media, the two individuals pictured above are responsible for snatching brown children away from their parents and putting them in cages, all forms of racism, poverty, and sexism in #SweetHomeAlabama.  They are incompetent and the reason Democrats can't win elections.  They are the reason Alabama is #1 in college football and last in quality of life.

So the war for control of the #DemocraticPartyPlantation continues appropriately in the Cradle of the Confederacy when the White Wing convenes a gathering to approve DNC mandated bylaws that will throw the Black Wing to the back of the bus and remove and replace the Party Overseerer I mean Leadership by any means necessary.

Stay tuned for another episode of Life on the #DemocraticPlantation in #SweetHomeAlabama

Why Democrats Can't Win in #SweetHomeAlabama, Hint...It's the Media

Regular readers know EYE don't "celebrate" Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday because it reminds me of his murder, specifically why he was murdered.  IMHO the King Holiday is a chance for those who hated in him life to celebrate his death.   You know the drill. Recite  selected quotes from  his "I have a Dream" speech,  join hands and sing "We Shall Overcome", leave the venue, go back to wag the tail  politics/business as usual.  EYE call it "See we aren't racist day."

Alabama Media Groups'  Kyle Whitmire, John Archibald, John Hammontree, must have experienced an awful King Birthday 2016, because the day after, they came out shooting, both barrels blazing.

Image result for picture of Kyle Whitmire

Kyle Whitmire took aim at Joe Reed and his supporters (of which EYE am one), likening him to a self serving plantation overseer, and his supporters as slaves.  He blames Joe Reed and Hillary Clinton because the Alabama Democratic Party looked like America instead of the Alabama Republican party.
Bernie Sanders' stop in Birmingham Monday night revealed at least two important things.
It revealed what's wrong with the Alabama Democratic Party.
And it revealed what's wrong with Hillary Clinton.
But to understand exactly how, you have to know one man in Alabama politics. That man is Joe Reed.
Because everybody hates Joe Reed and his bunch.

Image result for picture of john archibald

John Archibald takes aim at Hezekiah Jackson, president of the Birmingham Chapter of the NAACP, political action group Team Seven, Jefferson County Commissioner Sandra Little Brown, and The Young Democrats thrown in for color (pun intended).  Their alleged crime?  Forcing people to pay for endorsements, like it's a black thing, counting on misinformed readers to assume the NAACP is involved.
It's not unique to Team Seven. But it is rarely displayed in a manner as brash, and mercenary, if perhaps as honestly as in the team's email.
Because why would anyone want an endorsement from Team Seven or the NAACP?

John Hammontree rounds out the Trifecta accusing Bernie Sanders of literally leaving poor people out in the cold as a weapon of mass distraction from the unexpected success of the rally and to keep from talking about the substance of the rally. You know, like who was there, what was said, etc.
The failure of the city of Birmingham to plan and account for its homeless population while accommodating a Sanders rally shows how absurd it is to believe that simply voting for Bernie Sanders will somehow end systemic poverty and racism. Particularly in a state like Alabama that will remain under the control of a Republican-controlled state government skewed to favor the wealthy.
And you wonder why Alabama remains under the control of a Republican-controlled state government skewed to favor the wealthy?  Really?  Look in the media, EYE mean, mirror.

The Martin Luther King Holiday is over, back to life, back to race baiting in #SweetHomeAlabama

Kyle Whitmire

Alabama Media Group's Kyle Whitmire shows what's wrong with Alabama, and why republicans are in control of all three branches of government.
Reed and ADC have effectively taken over the Alabama Democratic Party's executive committee and turned it into an overtly racist organization. There are whole swaths of Alabama not represented on that committee because Reed and his followers refuse to appoint otherwise highly qualified representatives on the committee from those districts.
The Alabama Democratic Party doesn't represent the state, but more importantly, it doesn't even represent Democrats in the state. It has turned into a barren plantation, abandoned by its owners after they salted the soil so nothing could grow there, but where the field hands keep tilling the dry dirt because the straw boss never stopped making them. And if anyone shows up at the gates offering real help, they're quickly chased away.
Nothing could be further from the truth, but blame it on Joe Reed and his bunch
Last year, then-party chairman Mark Kennedy and other key employees resigned from their positions, leaving to form the Alabama Democratic Majority, a group whose stated goal is to break the GOP legislative supermajority in the 2014. At the time, Worley – who was then interim chair – complained about ADM's staff taking items and information that belonged to the Democratic Party, not to them, such as login information for software accounts, paper supplies, and even allegedly their website, to which Worley says ADP no longer has access.
Many have characterized the strife as racial, with some pointing to Dr. Joe Reed as the culprit. Dr. Reed, who has long been a top politico in State affairs, has opposed every diversity amendment that has thus far come before the body. Dr. Reed is the minority chair of the party, and is also the chairman of the Alabama Democratic Conference, an activist group whose endorsement can mean more than half of the African American vote in many districts around the Yellowhammer state.
While Dr. Reed claims that his objections are mostly technical – including the fact that women are included when they already comprise half the body – some say that his opposition is only an effort to prevent African American influence in the SDEC from being diluted, even  if at the expense of other guaranteed minority representation in the body.
Using the media to promote negative negative racial stereotypes in par for the course in #SweetHomeAlabama.
The function of the ADC was never to inspire or support black Democrats. It was built to control them like slaves on a plantation, and Reed was the straw boss — the slave the overseer gives just enough authority to make him feel important. The straw boss doesn't challenge the status quo. He protects it.
This is why Senator Richard Shelby (R. Tuscaloosa) is running ads saying he's standing up to Obama,  Congressman Mo Brooks (R. Huntsville) is using the public airways claiming Obama is the most racially divisive President since Slavery, and Judge Roy Moore is on TV again.

Psst Kyle Whitmire and the rest of the Alabama Media Group Editorial Board....  Joe Reed represents a constituencyy.  Joe Reed doesn't demand support from his constituents.  He earns it.  You attack him, you attack us.
Joe Reed is known as a “fighter for fairness” for black representation. In 1975, Joe Reed led the efforts to get equitable representation for blacks on the Montgomery City Council. His efforts resulted in four (4) blacks of nine (9) being elected. He served on the Montgomery City Council for 24 years. In the Democratic Party today, Alabama’s black representation exceeds all other states in the nation. For over 40 years he has led the effort to get more blacks elected and appointed to public office, including federal marshals, federal and state judges, members of the boards of registrars, legislators, county commissioners, city councils, and school boards. Due largely to his leadership, today Alabama has more black elected officials than any state in the nation. He drafted two (2) plans that increased black representation in the Alabama House of Representatives from 13 to 27; and in the Senate from 3 to 8 in 1982, and 1992, respectively. He also drew a reapportionment plan that provided for 25% (two of eight) majority black districts on the State Board of Education. Alabama is the only state in the nation where the Legislature reflects the state’s population of blacks and whites. Dr. Reed’s congressional plan also led to Alabama’s gaining a black congressional seat.

Of Coons and Scumbags 2015

When Sean Hannity has to tell you to dial back the coonery–you have officially earned the title Coon of the Year.

EYE deplore name calling, but sometimes you just have to call a Spade a Spade.   The Angry Black Rant composed a list of the Top 10 Coons of 2015.  In case you are wondering, yes, Coon(s) is a racial slur when non African Americans use it.
2015 was another coontastic year full of black folks doing their latest and greatest “Shuck & Jive” routine to remain in the good graces of mainstream conservative white America. I could go on and on for days about the kind of self loathing self centered and selfish motivations that go into making certain black men and women suspend all manners of pride and common logic while spewing the most embarrassing rhetoric for the sole purpose of ingratiating themselves with the kind of dying breed of thought propagated on Fox news, but I don’t have all day and since we have already said farewell to 2015 I’m going to cut to the chase and share my top 10 Coons of the last 365 day cycle…
Be sure and check out the Honorable Mentions.

Al.com's  Kyle Whitmire asks Who was Alabama's 20156 Scumbag of the Year?   The list was long, but the winner is:
The 2015 Scumbag of the Year is state Sen. Larry Stutts, a freshman lawmaker who a year ago was known only as "that guy who beat Roger Bedford."
Stutts, who is an OBGYN,attempted in his first Legislative session to repeal a law named after a patient who died in his care.
Rose's Law, which requires insurers to cover at least 48 hours of hospital care for new moms, had been passed after the death of Rose Church, a nurse from Haleyville who died after giving birth. Stutts was her doctor.
Stutts didn't tell any of his legislative colleagues about his part in the history of the law. Instead, he characterized it as Obamacare-like intrusion of government into healthcare, and solicited unwitting cosponsors to have it overturned.
Just like republicans to blame Obama for their failures. #BlameItOnTheBlackGuy

So many Coons and Scumbags, so little time.

Now Kyle Whitmire say's 'If this is justice set Larry Langford free" RedEye Roll

After doing everything in his power to make sure Larry Langford was convicted and sent to prison for EYE still haven't figured out what,  Kyle Whitmire has a change of heart and says maybe the old crook should go free
I don’t know Kyle Whitmire, but if he has no love for Larry Langford it clouds his objectivity. Reporters are supposed to report just the facts, regardless if they have love for their subjects or not. Any progressive viewpoint Kyle Whitmire have should not seep into his reporting. Any love/hate Kyle Whitmire has for Larry Langford should not be a factor in his reporting. It’s a dangerous, slippery slope we thread when reporters become a part of the story and use their influence and privilege to shape public opinion.
Well EYE guess it depends on what his definition of an "old crook" IS.  Let's recap.
The mood at the classic was rather somber this year, partially due to the rain on Friday and Saturday, and partially because Larry Langford was convicted the previous Wednesday. White suburbanites and the Birmingham news media may not have liked Larry Langford but the people who elected him loved him" because "he was cleaning up the city" . They believe his conviction will be a vehicle to over turn the election so Patrick Cooper can become Mayor. They question why Langford was convicted over some suits and a Rolex, while the two men who made millions got away scott free.
Prosecutors claimed Langford accepted cash and luxury items worth some $236,000 while serving as president of the Jefferson County Commission. In exchange, they claimed, Langford sent lucrative bond business to investment banker Bill Blount, a former chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Tamarra Matthews Johnson told jurors in closing arguments that Langford was heavily in debt and accepted the gifts from Blount, along with checks or loan payoffs through a middleman, lobbyist Al LaPierre. Both Blount and LaPierre pleaded guilty in the scheme and testified against Langford under their plea agreements.
Langford's' troubles stem from the sewer construction and bond swap controversy.
In 1995, Jefferson County entered into a consent decree with the Environmental Protection Agency regarding sewer overflows into the Cahaba River watershed. A total of $3.2 billion of new construction was subsequently contracted, both to comply with the consent decree and to expand the system to newly-developing areas and increase the number of ratepayers financing the construction. Much of this work was awarded to inexperienced companies, many of which have since been convicted of bribery along with several county officials.
The "sewer controversy" caused a rate hike. People on fixed incomes had water bills that were higher than their electric bills. Renters would move leaving property owners with thousands of dollars in unpaid water bills. If the landlords didn't pay liens were placed on the property until a law was passed by the legislature property where owners were not responsible for tenets water bills.

The "old crook's" Lawyers were worried about a tainted jury pool, and EYE was worried too.
I’m worried too and this is why.
Let me preface what I’m about to say with the disclaimer that I have no personal, business or social connection to Larry Langford. I have never voted for him, campaigned for him or donated to any of his campaigns. All I know about the charges against him are what I’ve read in the media. I am not speaking on behalf of Langford or in defense of Langford personally or his policies.

It has long concerned me that Alabama Democrats, especially progressive/liberal Democrats have been under attack by the republican controlled justice system, enabled by the MSM we have. Democrats from former Governor Don Siegleman, former State Senator E.B. McClain, former Jefferson County Commissioner Jeff Germany on down to former state Representative Sue Schmitz have been tried and convicted after widely publicized allegations of corruption. If this can happen to high profile elected officials, it can happen to you or to me. If I am accused of a crime, I want a fair trail. Strike that, our system of justice demands I have fair trail.
I don’t know if Langford is guilty of the charges against him or not, and I won’t know IF he doesn’t have a fair trial by a jury of his peers, who will listen to all the evidence presented in a court of law, not the evidence presented in the media.
I’m concerned that having a Media Forum the night before his trial entitled ” What will we do when Birmingham is broke and everyone is in jail” could not only taint a jury pool, but it’s unfair to the defendant because it assumes the city is broke and he is going to jail. I just don’t that’s fair. Sorry.
Is Langford a loudmouth, flashy, anti gay, bible thumper? Yes. As an American citizen does he deserve a fair and impartial trial by a jury of his peers? Absolutely. Would I feel this way if Langford was a white, conservative republican? Yes. I believe in the rule of law. I believe in liberty and justice for all. I believe in the right to a fair trial by a jury of ones peers. I believe evidence should be presented in a court of law, not in the media.
I believe in America. Where anything is possible.
In light of one of Langford's'  biggest detractors change of hard, EYE mean heart, maybe Larry Langford was right (no pun intended), and his prosecution was political.

Update~ What Looks Like #VoterSuppression on an Ordinary Day in #SweetHomeAlabama

voting.JPG
#MediaDrivenNarrativeAlert:   Gov. Robert Bentley, left to right, Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King Jr., and Peggy Wallace Kennedy, daughter of former Gov. George Wallace, in a commemoration of the voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery (Julie Bennett/ jbennett@al.com)
Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! Alabama get voter suppression right!  (pun intended).
Alabama has followed its voter ID requirement that went into effect last year with closing drivers license offices in eight of 10 counties with majority black voting populations. The voter suppression effect is complimented by raising the fee for driver license renewal from $23.50 to $36.25 earlier this year.
EYE don't know why the Alabama Media Group EYE am look at Y-O-UKyle Whitmire, John Archibald, and Dale "Jackson", are acting all shocked and awed Alabama has figured out a way to remain the reddest of the red, Confederate Slave States... today, tomorrow and forever.

EYE don't know why some people are acting all shocked and ashamed to learn Alabama to stop issuing drivers licenses in counties with 75% black registered voters.  Didn't Alabama State Senator Hank Sanders (D. Selma) try to tell y'all?
Hank Sanders knew the red, republican, controlled House would pass the Voter ID bill to disenfranchise black/poor/brown voters.
The Alabama Legislature, under Republican control for the first time since Reconstruction, passed a voter ID law this year. The law takes effect in 2014.
Kansas, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin have passed laws this year that allow voters without the required photo ID to cast provisional ballots, but the voters must return to a specific location with that ID within a certain time limit for their ballots to count.
Indiana and Georgia already had such laws. Other states have photo ID laws too, but provide different way to verify a voter’s identity without a photo ID. Texas and South Carolina are awaiting approval for their laws from the Justice Department because of those are among that states with a history of voting rights suppression and discrimination.
EYE knew when the republican majority Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act because things had changed dramatically in the south,  clearing the way for republicans to gerrymander their way to a permanent majority,  this was going to happen.  And it's too late to call for a justice department investigation into the closings Mr. Archibald, Sir.

Maybe if the Alabama Democratic Party had joined with The Alabama Democratic Conference instead of fighting with the Alabama Democratic Conference we wouldn't be in this mess.

EYE am just saying...
Still think Voter ID laws aren’t meant to keep folks from voting? What other purpose can they possibly serve? Back in 2011, Alabama passed a voter ID law requiring Photo ID. For most Americans, that’s a driver’s license.
Unfortunately for folks living in Alabama’s “Black Belt” – the state’s 15 mostly Black counties – those driver’s licences are about to become a LOT harder to get. Why? Because on Thursday, October 1, the state’s shutting down a staggering 31 driver’s license offices, leaving only four open.
Officials claim they’re doing this because of budget cuts, but it looks a lot more like the GOP-controlled state legislature wants to keep Black people from voting. After all, this certainly isn’t the first time the state of Alabama’s tried to keep Black people from voting. And now that the majority -GOP Supreme Court has gutted the Voting Rights Act of 1965, they’re free to do it again.
EYE Report.  YOU Decide

The Power of the Press to turn the pigs into farmers, and the farmers into pigs #SweetHomeAlabama

hubbard at organizational session by julie.JPG
The 2010 Republican takeover of the Alabama Legislature was supposed to bring powerful ethics reform to Montgomery, but instead we got something worse that what we had. (Julie Bennett/jbennett@al.com)

According to Alabama Media Group columnist Kyle Whitmire: It took Alabama Democrats 136 years to be this corrupt, the GOP matched it in four

The story usually starts with hopeful promise of something different -- you know, the thing that's going to go rotten by the end.
That was the year the Alabama Republican Party took control of the Alabama Legislature for the first time in 136 years. The mini Republican Revolution came with promises -- the Handshake with Alabama was supposed to be the state's own Contract with America.
At its core was ethics reforms that Goat Hill Democrats had rejected for years.
Among them was a ban on PAC-to-PAC transfers, which lobbyists and politicians had used to launder campaign money.
Wham! Promise delivered!
Also there were to be new restrictions on lawmakers doing business with those who do business with the state.
Zip! Done!
And finally, the Alabama Ethics Commission -- long a toothless tiger -- would finally have subpoena power to investigate corrupt public officials.
Ding! Dong!
The Witch?
Dead!
Here we are a quadrennium later, the Alabama Republican majority has proven that it is unquestionably superior to the all-but-extinct Alabama Democrats. The level of corruption Democrats took 136 years to achieve, the GOP has bested in just four years.
First, let's decode the code words, Democrats is code for the blacks. The media driven false narrative makes it socially acceptable to express the idea that black politicians are corrupt and inept and do not behave like adults.  So the party that tries to help the little guys and gals is corrupt, and the party that helps the rich get richer is not. What's up is down, what's down is up.
And this time we can tell the pigs from the farmers, because the pigs are even worse.
EYE want my Liberal Media back.

Edit~"Black equates to Democrat. Deny all you want to but it the truth." #AndThereInLiesTheProblem

Again EYE say, if you want to find out what the real dealio is about an issue look no further than the comment section of AL.com, where commentators, under the cloak of anonymity, feel free to express how they really feel without telling who they really are.  Thank you Kyle Whitmire for your recent column accusing Alabama Democrats of being black, lying, racist and enabling those voices.
Kyle thinks he is a defender of the oppressed when he is actually an offender.
So, Whitmire declared the Alabama Party Racist because an old black man named Joe Reed is keeping white people from infiltrating the Minority Caucus.  Code word, Black.  Why are they trying to infiltrate the Black Caucus?  Because Black equates to Democrats, and in Alabama that's the  kiss of death for a political party.  It's why Alabama is a solidly red/republican/ state.

Don't believe me? Read this:
Kyle left out some very pertinent information. According to Joe Reed, new members aspiring for the Executive Committee have normally been interviewed by the current Executive Committee. The rejected candidates did not bother to do so. There had already been information circulating that the new majority Caucasian members would work to change the current bylaws, obviously, to attract more Caucasian members whose losses by the Democratic Party have been devastating in the South. I see no reason that Joe Reed would oppose regaining more Caucasian members.

Apparently, Joe Reed felt threatened by them not following common procedure for the interview and failed to support them. Hopefully, Joe Reed will give his own position regarding this matter, as we have only heard Kyle's viewpoint.
This is Whitmire's reply:NufocusfromBham I have been to enough executive committee meetings in the last 10 years to safely say that this argument is a bunch of nonsense. It's what Reed's folks like to argue, but it just ain't so.
Actually it just ain't so that his argument is a bunch of nonsense, because the white wing of the democratic party pulls this crap year after year, and are foiled year after year by an old black man named Joe Reed.  This rule is nothing new but don't let the truth stand in way of a lie Mr. Whitmire, sir.

Any hoo, the main complaint of the white wing of the democratic party is they don't have a voice in the democratic party because the democratic party caters to blacks, and as long as that happens they are not being represented.  Fortunately AL.com gave them a platform, so let's hear  from some of those voices.

And this is why we have undeclared voters, their party is control by black jim crow, who cannot let go of their past and they would rather control their sand pile even if it's filled with tape worms. Massa still controls these people because they can't let go and offer equal representation to whties from fear. FEAR stands for 'Frad each arian is racist. Fear.
Reed is the worst thing that has happened to the Democratic party in Alabama and until their party realizes this it will only continue to diminish. Democratic candidates used to be able to garner lots of Republican votes in most counties in Alabama. No longer is that the case.
A new Democratic Party out side the claws of the current State Democratic Executive Committee is a must. The Democratic Party as it exists now is dead in the water in any state-wide race and/or any white majority legislative/county/school board district.
Legislative Redistricting/Reapportionment by Republicans in 2011, with Joe Reed's acquiesce, has guaranteed that.
Democrats can now only be elected in Black majority districts. Alabamians of good will have been driven out of the Democratic Party by the antics of the current leadership and allies of the Alabama Democratic Conference.
Alabamians of good will and a sense of fair play are turned off by the extremism in both the Democratic and Republican Parties. Extremism, in any form, will not solve the real problems facing Alabama and the Federal Government and thus, the quality of life of its citizens.
The ADC Chairperson has total control of the Democratic party structure. But what has he got?
Nothing but a toothless party whose proud history has been shattered by his drive to control. He has destroyed the Democratic Party as if the Republicans paid him to do it.
The head of the ADC is the best thing that the Republican Party has going for it.
For progressivism, instead of re-gressivism, moderates want a choice. A middle of the road party is what Alabama needs to move the state forward to elevate the living standards of all our citizens.
Hopefully, the Alabama Democratic Reform Caucus is the answer.
According to Whitmire an old black man named Joe Reed is racist because he's standing in the way of these voices.  Voices that don't want to be known as the party of blacks.  EYE HOPE the Alabama Democratic Reform Caucus is the answer for those who no longer want to identify with blacks, I mean , democrats, too. This is further evidence today's Democrats want to go back to to being the party of Jefferson Davis not Lincoln.

Enough of the democratic party taking black voters for granted.  Let them take their party back. Let's register as Independents (Bernie Sanders) and cast our vote, or not, for the party that addresses our interest.  What are our interest you ask?  Civil, equal, and human rights.  Accesses to quality affordable health care.  Equal access to quality public schools.  A woman's right to choose to have a safe legal abortion.  Jobs. Labor. Peace and Prosperity for all.   The party of Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Kennedy.

Joe Reed is a bold, unapologetic, liberal. He is a reliable voice for civil/equal/human rights, woman, public schools, public school teachers, labor, immigrants, protecting the poor, the marginalized and the working class. You know, the Democratic traditions the party stands for. Or at least traditions the party used to stand for before some felt the need to "reinvent" it into a middle of the road party.

My Daddy use to say never burn the bridge that carried you safely over the water. Like him or not. Joe Reed is that bridge. Blaming the demise of the party on him is like blaming Saddam Hussein for 9/11. People who won't contribute to or support the Alabama Democratic party unless Reed bows out need to bow out

Edit~Alabama Democrats want to go back to the future. #Dixiecrats

EYE am still seething at Alabama Media Group columnist Kyle Whitmire's assertion the Alabama Democratic Party is racist and  being lead by an "old black man named Joe Reed."  First of all, who/what gives Kyle Whitmire the right (pun intended)  to determine who/what is racist/racism?  Secondly, someone who works for the white, male-dominated Alabama Media Group has some nerve calling the Alabama Democratic Party a "Country Club."  There is more than a whiff of hypocrisy, which is why EYE decided to as the young people say Flip the Script.

Want to see racism at work?  Meet the Alabama Media Groups all white/ male/ columnist.  According to Whitmire, the Alabama Democratic Party does not have a tent, much less a big tent because whites can't infiltrate the Minority Caucus under the guise of inclusion to dilute its power on the committee.  But I digress. It could be said the Alabama Media Group doesn't have a big tent either.  All of the columnists above are white males, two of which who hate Dr. Joe Reed with a passion that is unparalleled.   But it's not reverse racism.

Let's cut to the real nitty-gritty.   Race is the big white elephant in the big white tent.  There is the perception the Alabama democratic party is the party of blacks and as long as that's the case republicans will continue to win elections and rule the state.  So, instead of embracing diversity, democrats want to dilute and destroy diversity.  They want to go back to before.  Back to the party of Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms, George Wallace, and Bull Conner.  The Dixiecrats.
The Dixiecrat Party was formed after 35 Democratic delegates from Mississippi and Alabama walked out of the 1948 Democratic National Convention. These delegates were protesting the adoption of Sen. Hubert Humphrey's (D-Minnesota) proposal of civil rights planks calling for racial integration and the reversal of Jim Crow laws in the party platform.
They met in Birmingham, Alabama, and nominated Gov. Strom Thurmond of South Carolina for president. They opposed abolition of the poll tax, while endorsing segregation and the "racial integrity" of each race. Their campaign slogan was "Segregation Forever!" and their platform also included the call for "states' rights." Like the modern day Tea Party, the Dixiecrats called for freedom from governmental interference in an individuals or organization's prerogative to do business with whomever they wanted. Thurmond received more than one million votes in the 1948 election, won four states and 39 electoral votes.
White Democrats believe the Alabama Democratic Party is the black man's party, like that's a bad thing, and blame black democrats for wrecking their party.  Again, the reason EYE oppose the republican party has nothing to do with me being a democrat, and EYE don't oppose republicans just to support democrats. EYE oppose republicans because the people who perpetrated the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing and other terrorist acts joined the GOP.

Did EYE say White Democrats believe the Alabama Democratic Party is the black man's party, like that's a bad thing, and blame black democrats, specifically Joe Reed,  for wrecking their party?
What is the Joe Reed problem you ask? For one thing he's not one of those go along to get along Negroes who is content with being seen and not heard. He refuses to be treated like Chattel. There are some who believe black voters don't have enough sense to know who to vote for unless white folks tell them who their leaders should be. (cue in Eyes on the Prize).
EYE say let them take their party back.

Monday Morning Meltdown: #AlabamaMarriage #Selma #BloodySunday #BrianWilliams #WakeUpAmerica

The media that enabled Bush and Dick to send our troops to war based on dead wrong intelligence to look for WMD that was NOT there, without body armor or an exit plan are furious at Brian Williams lies?  Oh. OK.

2-3BentleyStrangeMoore.jpg

Politicians in Alabama never learn. It's Deja Voodoo all over again.
In the fight against gay marriage, Gov. Bentley, Attorney General Luther Strange and Chief Justice Roy Moore are a farce to be reckoned with.
Alabama's most powerful, brave and cuddly men are representing Alabama's best interests and fears by making a three-way stand in the courthouse door on an equal rights issue. What could go wrong?
What's that you say?  President Obama's visit to Selma sparks division?  I'm shocked!  Shocked I tell you!  Not.
Sanders, who said he's marched on the front line only once in all the years he's helped organize the event, said he's happy Obama and the congressional delegation are coming to Selma.
"But if they couldn't have the entire front line to themselves and they decided to hold a separate march on Saturday, then there is something wrong with that," he said.
Rep. Martha Roby (R-Ala.)

The plot thickens.
