If I'm getting screwed shouldn't I at least enjoy it?

So called democrat Butch Taylor is the lasted dunce enrolled in the Artur Davis/Bobby Bright/Parker Griffth school of poliTricks. You know the drill, throw the voters who voted for you under the bus to pander to the people who might (NOT) vote for you.
Pay no attention to the "D" behind his name! This man is not Barack Obama. He's not nearly as tall or good looking and he lives in a brick house that the big bad wolf can't huff and puff blow all in....

Ya know.... after the last mailer, the one where he seems to have assured voters that he's "NOT LIBERAL," and this one - which doesn't mention the word "Democrat" anywhere - what are we to make of this?

I'll tell you what we are to make of this, we're getting screwed again. I am sick and tired of candidates who run on the democratic ticket so they can *ahem* take advantage of democratic voters then get elected and govern as republicans.
Butch and his consultants are trying to appeal to people who don't like President Obama, Speaker Pelosi and the national Democrats. The problem is, not everyone in his district fits that mold so that for every angry "independent" he wins over with these flyers he risks losing a loyal Dem. And he won't win Republicans with this GOP-lite messaging -- they'll go for the real Republican every time.

I wonder part of this don't democratic insiders understand? Or, maybe they do understand but they get some kind of perverse please in sticking it to the democratic party.

You want to know why DINO's pander to the right (who are wrong about everything) and take the base for granted? Because the right (wrong) and the loyal democratic base can be counted on to go to the polls and VOTE on election day. In the case of the loyal democratic voters, we don't have a choice but to vote for the DINO because the republican is so much worse. Screwed if we do, screwed if we don't.
He had my vote before the first mailer
Heck, I was just waiting for a call asking if I needed some yard signs. Instead I got a flyer proclaiming Butch is "Not Liberal." Well gee, I am liberal and I'm already having to go down the ballot race by race because there's no way in hell I'm voting for Roy Moore's buddy Charley Grimsley -- so it would be real easy to forget to mark some other in-my-face "not liberals" on the ticket. And there are actually quite a few other liberals in HD22. Not enough to elect a representative alone, but enough that Butch shouldn't spit on us in a close election year.

What's up with democratic party insiders? I mean, really? Look at how they stood by and let the gop convict Rep. Sue Schmitz and let a Tea Bagger take her place in the Alabama State Legislature.
i live in sue schmitz's old district so we don't have even a butch taylor to vote for. we've got a guy who couldn't find toney when he was campaigning, who is really just a part of the republican machine, without an independent or thoughtful bone in his body. Jenny askins ran a very good but terribly underfunded campaign against him in a special election, and he swamped the district with phony ads while jenny was out door to door. this go round, not a democrat qualified to run. so the GOP accomplished its goal -- taking this district, after a struggle that started with a Madison county board of ed ruling that sue could not pay a sub out of her own pocket to teach for her while she was in montgomery. that was the first step in a long and crooked process that saw sue sent to federal prison and a republican rep for this district who really represents huntsville gop interests -- not us rural folks out here. funny thing about him -- the guy looks as stupid as he talks.

incidentally, while butch taylor could campaign from a totally different aspect -- taking the fight to the republican on democratic principles and policies, exposing the republican as a patsy for the most anti-little guy interests in alabama, he chose the "easy" way. so he's a no cojones democrat but i'd vote for him over the republican with no qualms. he;s still the democrat.

Correction, Taylor is NOT still a democrat, he's a politican that will say anything to get elected. With democrats like Taylor who the heck needs republicans?

The buck stops with the democratic LEADERSHIP. I'm beginning to wonder if they are with us, or against us. Why else would they continue to run/fund candidates who pander to the segment of voters who are against everything the democratic party is supposed to stand for? Republicans are anti civil rights, anti women's rights, anti LBGT rights, anti public education and anti labor. I am sick and tired of having to vote for the lessor of two evils.

Since I'm not enjoying it, I'm going to stop doing it. I will write in a candidate before I give my precious vote to a political whore.

As for you Butch Taylor, it's obvious you want to help the republicans obliterate whatever President Obama has been able to achieve and make his administration a distant memory. You sir are no Democrat, Democrats are loyal and they don't pander to people who think/act like this:
CALLER: I'm 90 years old and I just wanted to ask the colored man, why don't colored people instead of saying what we did to them, why don't they say what we did for them? They talk about the slavery but since then they have been given welfare, free medicine, free everything.

HARLESTON: Ma'am I think this is more of a conversation about the relationship between the administration and the people on Wall Street and not necessarily one that's based on race.

CALLER: Oh, okay. I'm not a racist. That was my comment. Thank you.

I feel sorry for the Obama voters/democrats in Buth Taylors district. It's a question of character or the lack thereof in this case.
